CADE POV

“What’s wrong?”I asked as I got out of bed

“Don’t come near me! Stay away! Stay away from me”she kept on yelling

I tried to touch her but she slapped my hand away.

“Stay away from me!”She kept on yelling as she scrawled away from me.

Feeling worried, I went after her and pulled her up and still she kept on pushing me away

“Stay away! Please don’t hurt me! Don’t hurt me!”She kept on saying .

Her scared expression remind me of when I raped her years ago, she had cried and begged like this, she had called for help and begged me severally but I paid no heed to her.

This is my doing, I caused her to be like this, I caused her to act like this, this is some sort of trauma she is suffering from.

“Stay away, stay away”She kept on yelling but I pulled her into my arms and tried to calm her down.

“It’s me Emily, it’s me Cade, I won’t hurt you,I promise”I whispered into her ear and she began to calm down, seems like it worked, I thought as I held to me.

She wasnt yelling again but instead she was crying in my arms.

“Am sorry, am really sorry Cade” she said as she kept on crying.

I carried her into my arms and took her back to the room. I sat down still holding her in my arms.

“It’s okay”I said as I cradled her wanting to take away her pain, am the ba$tard who did this to her, I caused her to be like this! I thought as I watched her cry.

“Am sorry that I lashed out at you”She said as she buried her face in my arms

“It’s okay!”I said

“It’s not okay, i don’t know why this thing always intrude with my love life? Each time I get close to other men, I feel this way,like some one wants to harm me, I feel scared and I want to hide, I don’t know what’s wrong with me Cade”

“I thought that it’s because of those men, that I get scared because I don’t love them,that am not ready to give myself to any one yet but I love you right and I should be willing to give myself to you but I can’t, I don’t know why Cade”she said crying h-rder.

I felt so despicable, this is all my doing, she never had a normal life even after she was saved, her life kept on being haunted by what I did.

“I never told my parents about it, I didn’t want to be worried, you are the first person who knows this”she said sadly

“Should we see a specialist, some one who will can do this sort of thing, I just don’t know Cade, I don’t want to be like this forever, I want to be able to make love to you, I want to make babies With you, I hate this!”she said crying and I pulled her to me, giving her all the strength that I could give her.

If she should see a specialist, he would certainly make it known to her that she had gone through some thing bad or far worst, she would remember and I don’t want that, I don’t want her to remember the ordeal she had to go through and I don’t want her hating me.

Life threw her my way again, it wants me to make amends and that is what I will do, I won’t let her remember yet until have make amends.

EMILY POV

I stood by the window in the room thinking about what just happened.

Have always had that ordeal to deal with, each time I get to close to men, I always hate it or I make a fuss.

They have never been able to take it far with me because we never get to the room before it comes to haunt me.

Have never have a stable boyfriend and that is all because of this terrible feeling.

It’s like some thing bad happened to me and that in a second or so, the guy with me might try to force himself on me, some times I always even beg them to leave me alone.

But with Cade every thing is different, I had gotten far with him only for that disturbing feeling to come back.

For years I keep on wondering if I was rapped or stuff, that is the only thing that can justify this feeling but I doubt it.

Have always lived a sheltered life,I wouldn’t have been raped by any one, my parents would have told me if some thing like that happened right.

Just then the door opened and Tracy walked in with Gracie.

“So you have been hiding here all day, common the crew have arrived, they came with all the necessary things and there are loads of hot men amongst them”Gracie said and i smiled

“They can be for you but for me Cade is my man, I don’t need those hot men”I said

“I know but It won’t cause you a thing if you were to fl!rt a little, I bet Cade will be very jealous”She said

“Flrting wouldnt be that bad, common let’s go”I said as we both went out.

After meeting the crew who will help us with the resort, I found myself being lured to go out with Gracie,Micheal and some of the guys that came to work with us on the resort.

The car was already off when I remember that I did not tell Cade about my leaving, well he will be too busy to notice my absence.

It’s been so long, since have been to the town, we explored every where she checked out every thing.

While the rest walked off, I stood back starring at some watch,wondering which one would suit Cade.

I was still deciding when I noticed some one starring at me.

I turned only to see crazy Lucy there, I moved back, scared of her attacking me like she did.

“I will not harm you, you have been through a lot for me to do more harm”she said

“What do you mean!”I asked and thought of myself as crazy, why would I be talking to a crazy person.

“You will find out soon, that house that you are staying, the people you are living with, they will make you remember”she said

“What should I remember, what do I have to remember Lucy?”I asked as I moved towards her but she moved away from me

“I can’t tell you more,you have to remember your self”she said

“Lucy wait! At least tell me , what you said that day at the boutique, about Cade being evil, why did you say that?”I asked

“He is evil, he started all this, he started all of it and he will pay, karma will get him and so better watch out “she said and laugh out hysterically before running off.

What does she mean by that? Why does she talk like this, I have to find out more, I thought as I ran after her.

Through the busy road, I saw her running through a narrow street and quickly I ran after her.

She got to a hill top and I saw her enter a shabby looking house.

I ran after her and when I got to her house, I hid by the door when I saw some one i recognise in the house.

What is Cade mother doing here? I thought as I hid by the door watching her and crazy Lucy.

“Quit with your act and tell me what you know”Cade mother said

“Who are you”crazy Lucy replied still acting crazy

“You won’t fool me that you are crazy, I know that you are not crazy, so talk to me before I do some thing that we will all regret”

“What do you want madam Denise”Crazy Lucy said as she stopped pretending

“That’s better, tell me what you know, you were there that night! You were the one who told me that if some one fall off that cliff, they wouldn’t survive but am doubting that now, recently I saw a girl who has the same birth mark as that child”She said

“She couldn’t have survived, I told you that if some one was to fall off that cliff, they can’t survive and I went there to check on her, she died okay, she died”Lucy replied

“But her body was never found “Cade mother said

“Well I don’t know how that happen,All I ………..”

She couldn’t complete her word because Cade’s mother pulled her by her clothe and push her to the wall.

“I hope you are telling me the truth Lucy, that girl should be dead,if she is alive then you better count yourself dead too” she said and I was shocked by hearing her talk of killing some one.

“Keep on with your craziness and keep on keeping your mouth shut as you have done for ten years”she said tapping Lucy Cheek and began to head out.

Quickly I went to hide at the back of the house and I watched Cade mom walk off.

Who is this girl that they are talking about and why is Lucy acting crazy when infact she is well? I thought.

Chapter 44

EMILY POV

As soon as the car left, I went into the house and judging from her reaction, she wasn’t expecting me

“Who are you!”she asked acting crazy again

“You met me a while ago at the market and please do not act like you are crazy, I saw you a while ago and you were speaking perfectly”I asked

“Go away!”she said still pretending

“I won’t leave until you tell me why that lady was here, you see she is my mother in law and you two were talking about a child who fell off the cliff,tell me did she kill that child?”I asked wanting to know if Cade mother is a murderer

“Go away!”she yelled at me again

“Please Lucy tell me some thing, let me under stand what you are saying to me”I said

“That remains to you, only you can bring your self to under stand” she said

“But I don’t just seem to under stand a thing” I said

“I can’t do a thing until you remember your self, my mouth have been sealed”she said as she turned to leave

“Please wait?”I yelled as I held her hand

“Leave me alone,leave me alone”she said shouting hysterically

“Please tell me some thing, just one more thing! Did I live here in the past perhaps? Maybe you knew me when I live here in the past”I asked and she looked away hurriedly

“Have told you to leave me alone”she said pushing me away and using that opportunity she ran off.

I ran after her and though I kept calling after her, she kept on running off like a maniac.

She ran across the streets and I ran after her but I wasn’t watching my way and the next thing I saw was a car coming straight at me.

I fell down due to the shock and though the car stopped I wasnt thinking about my safety or about the car that almost hit me.

All I could see was a little version of myself and a lady who kept on calling me Racheal.

I was so lost in this thought that I didn’t see Cade coming out of the car.

“Are you okay Emily! Are you okay?”his voice brought me back to reality and I stared at his worried face

“Talk to me,Are you alright?”he asked and I nodded slowly

“I didn’t hit you right, you aren’t injured ? This won’t do,I better take you to an Hospital”he said as he carried me into his arms

As soon as he put me in the car, the shock began to dissipate and when I realised that Cade was taking me to the hospital, I quickly stop him

“What are you saying? You are in shock and the doctors have to check up on you” he said

“Am fine Cade, I mean it”I replied giving him a smile to see that am okay.

“What happen?why were you driving around here?”I asked

“I came to look for you”he said as he pulled my hand

“Why?”

“The others that you left with were very worried and so they called me “he said

“Oh! I lost track for a while “I said

“Your losing track for a while got me feeling so worried”he said

“I thought some thing bad had happened to you, never scare me like that again or better yet, never go out with out telling me okay”he said and i nodded slowly

“Tell me why you were running after crazy Lucy?”he asked

“She was the reason why I left the rest at the town, she came to me saying weird stuffs” I said and immediately he stopped his car

“Weird stuff like what?”he asked.

“She said I have to remember some thing and that I must remember it and……..”

“And ?”he asked

“And I did remember some thing?”I replied

“What did you remember?”he asked

“Well I saw myself, my teenage self walking at the resort with a lady with me and she called me Racheal”I said and he looked shocked

“What? Do you know some thing about some one whose name is Rachel?”I asked

“Th……..that is absurd, I never met any one called racheal don’t believe what that lady said,she is crazy “he said

“But……”

“Let’s not talk about it, now that we are in town, what can I get you?”He asked

“There is some thing else Cade?”I said quickly

“I don’t want us to talk about any one, let’s just talk about our……….”

“This is about your mom?”I said

“What happen with my mom?”he asked starring at me with utmost attention.

CADE POV

“Well I saw her talking to crazy Lucy earlier” she said

“What? you saw her talking to crazy Lucy but she never mingle with people she thinks that they are lower than her, why would she go to see her?”

“They were talking about a child who fell off the cliff”she added

Only mother, father,David and I know about what happened years ago ,how come crazy Lucy know about it

“What more? Did they say any other thing?”I asked

“She said Lucy told her that the child is dead but then she thinks she saw who might be the girl”she said

Mother must have seen Emily birth mark I thought

“She looked scary Cade, If I didn’t know you, I would have thought that your mom is a murderer”she said and knowing that she was getting close to the truth, I started the car again, closing the topic.

After hours of browsing around the town, we head back home .

As soon as Emily left for our room, I went in search of my mom and I saw her in the study

“You are here? I was just about to go to you” she said

“Tell me why you went to see crazy Lucy” I yelled at her

“How did you know that?”she asked

“Just answer me! How come Lucy knows what happened years ago?”I asked

“That doesn’t matter Cade, what …….”

“Just ans……..”

“Racheal is alive!”she said and that stopped me from completing my words

“What?”

“Don’t pretend,I know that you must know that your wife Emily is Racheal”She said.

How did she find out? I thought as I kept starring at her

“Surprised right?”she said

“How…..how……”

“How did I find out right? Well it’s simple, I saw the birth mark on Emily arm and you Remember the hysterical way she had behaved that day, it reminded me of Racheal”

“And so I called for our family investigator and made him do some findings on her, his answers just arrived today, Kate and Peter Wilburn never had any child, they only started living in the city with Emily when she was seventeen and I remember the Wilburn to be a worker on the resort years ago, doesn’t that say some thing to you?”she said starring at me

“You got it wrong, Emily is not Racheal”I said and turned to leave

“Really? Can we find out the truth right here, right now?”she asked

“What will you do?”I asked

“Watch and learn my son”she said and before I could stop her,she was already out of the study and we both stopped when we saw Emily by the door eaves dropping.

“Oh it’s a good thing that she herself is here”My mom said and I realised what she was about to do

“Mom, don’t?”I said trying to stop her

“I just want to ask your wife some few questions and she has to answer truthfully”she said

Quickly I went to stand in front of Emily, hiding her away from my mom.

“Emily leave!”I said to Emily who stood behind me

“But……….”

“Leave please!”I said again and on hearing my plea, she began to walk to the stairs.

“Don’t you want to know the secret I know Emily!” My mom called and she stopped to look at the both of us.

“Mom stop it!”I said

“Its enough! Have had enough of her, I can’t stand her anymore, she must know of the secret”My mom moved past me and went to her.

“So tell me, do you want to know what that secret is?”she asked again.
