Episode 29

Mi cha’s Pov:
When I was getting close to the building, I had to drop Jeremy off at a safe place because I didn’t want him to go with me. It was too dangerous.

And besides, I needed him to stay there as a back up plan. Incase something goes wrong and I don’t return, he should call the police.

At first, he was against the idea of staying behind, but when I told him of the back up plan, he saw sense in it and agreed to stay behind.

So, I proceeded alone.

I drove as fast as I could, hoping I wasn’t too late.

And around the perimeter, I s₱0tted her.

Yes! I found her!

She was running towards me – looking blenched. She was the one!
Oh, yes!

She waved at me and I stopped in front of her.and before she could even reach for the car, I opened the door and stepped out and her eyes dilated in shock.

“What?” She exclaimed and moved back in shock.

Kim nana (Crazy)
No; this has got to be a joke. How does she look exactly like me??

She isn’t Kim ji – that’s for sure.

Then, who’s she?

Hold on!

Her hair; her eyes; they looked so familiar.

I thought for a while;

Yes! She was the same lady at the party – the one covering a veil.

“Kim” she called my name, making me more confused.

How did she know my name?

“I know you’re confused and have a lot of questions, but for now, we need to move. Its not safe here” she said and turned towards the car but I didn’t move.

Who was she?

She opened the front door and was stunned about me not moving.

“Come on,Kim” she sighed.
“I’ll explain everything to you in the car. There’s no time. Its not safe here”.

“Who are you?” I asked.
“And how can I trust you?”

She was mute for a moment.

“Like I said, I’ll explain everything in the car but for now, we need to move . your friend -Jeremy’s waiting as well” she said and my eyes beamed.

Jeremy? Jeremy’s with her? That only means she’s not lying.

“Come on;” she persuaded, her eyes narrowing around

And after one final thought, I went into the car with her.

“Who are you?” I asked her as we sat next to each other in the moving car.

“Why do you look exactly like me? How did you know my name? And…And Jeremy.”

She remained quiet and focused on the road.

“You better don’t keep me quiet cause you won’t like my reaction”,I warned and she sighed.

“I’m as confused as you are.” She started calmly.

“Last night at the party, I had come to do something. Then, I saw you and I was shocked because you looked exactly like me.
It came as a really big shock to me and I couldn’t face you even if I wanted to. That was the reason I left.

“But when I had gotten a little far away, I stopped and decided to return to you – at least, to talk to you and know who you are. But on getting there, I met your friend – Jeremy- calling out for yoh and…he saw me and was shocked as well.”
She paused and sighed again

“Luckily, I was able to figure out you had been abducted and by who and I decided to be of help. Last night, I had to go home in your place so your parents wouldn’t suspect and…”

“Hold on;” I cut her off.
“what’s your name?”

“Mi…”

“Mi cha?” I completed it for her and she nodded.

What the hell?

“Are you kidding me?” I shrieked.
“You’re the lady they’ve been referring to all along. You’re the lady they wanted to abduct but mistook me instead! I’m suffered all these because of you!”

“Well, I didn’t ask you to look at me” she snapped.

What?

I scoffed and tried saying something but decided to think instead.

Why does she look like me? I thought Kim ji was the…

Hold on;

Yes!! The photograph!

They weren’t just two identical babies,but three!

Yes, they were three.

What the…

I gasped and looked at Mi cha.

Could this be possible? Is this true?

Could it be possible she’s the third baby?

“How did you escape?” She asked but I couldn’t say a word.
I couldn’t even comprehend her at that moment.

The thought just kept ringing in my head.

Is she my sister?

“Hey; I asked a question” she tapped me and I came back to realty.

“Josh” I muttered,, my gaze still on her.

“He sent someone to help me and asked me to meet him at a junction”

Immediately, she stopped the car abruptly in a weird, making me flinch.
What?

I looked at her and discovered she was looking like a ghost.

“Hey; what’s wrong?” I asked, puzzled and her l-ips shook.

Hold on; was this because of Josh??

She exhaled deeply and ran her fingers into her hair.

“I’m fine” she said in deep breaths and continued driving.

Okay; and now I’m more curious.

Who’s Josh? And…why did those men try to kidnap her? Why was she known by such people?

Hold on; I think the main question should be: who’s she?

Shortly, she stopped the car and I looked at the window to see Jeremy.

Oh my!

I gasped and opened the door immediately, going out of the car.

“Kim!!” He called in excitement and I laughed and jumped on him

“Jeremy!!” I exclaimed in his arms as we both laughed.

“Oh my God! You’re alive! Kim” he unlocked from the hug and said, looking into my face.

“Huh? Were you expecting me to die or what?” I slapped him on his chest and he chuckled.

“I’m so sorry I put you in danger. This wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t ask you to go with me to the…”

“Oh please” I cut him off with an eye roll.
“There’s no need apologizing. I had plans of going with you even if you didn’t invite me”.

He laughed so hærd.

“I’m glad you’re safe, Kim” he pulled me in a hug again and I smiled.

“Come on, we need to move” he held my hand and we approached the car.
Huh? I could see Mi cha from the window and she appeared to be wiping her face.
Was she crying or what?

“Come on, Kim” Jeremy said and opened the door for me and as soon as we were all complete in the car, Mi cha took off.

I was so nervous as I sat next to mum in the cab which was already close to my house.

I’m doing the right thing, right? Of course!

I just couldn’t help but feel nervous.

“Are we almost there?” Mum asked, looking through the window but I didn’t say a word.

Then, the cabby finally got to the apartment.

“Right here” I told him and he stopped the car.

“Are we there?” Mum asked, her eyes beaming and I just nodded.

Oh! The gate was open. It seemed someone was driving out

Mum and I got off the cab with our bags and she paid the cabby while I focused on the jeep driving out.

Oh my! It was dad’s car. It was definitely him.

Oh, God! Mum;
Is she ready to meet him now?

I turned to look at her and she was done with the cabby and by the time I turned back to the jeep, it had already stopped moving.

Dad.
Its possible he’s seen us already.

“Is this it?” Mum asked as she stood beside me and watched the jeep.

The door opened and the first person that stepped out was Rebecca – my step mom.

Huh? I thought dad was the one in the car?

She flinched and stopped walking when she noticed mum.

“What?” She shrieked with a crumpled look and my nervousness increased.

The second door opened and this time around, it was dad.

Oh, God! I noticed it; mum shook a little.

“Ha-nuel?” Dad called in shock.
That was mum’s name.

We were all stupefied.

Another car showed up immediately and stopped in front of us, creating a little interruption.

All eyes diverted to them.

The door opened and the first person to come out was Kim nana.

Episode 30

Kim Ji (Kind)
The first person to come out of the car was Kim nana.

She looked stupefied, seeing me there – me and mum.

“Kim ji?” She called with wide eyes and came closer.
The door opened again and this time around, it was Jeremy.
Huh?

Why are they together?

“Mum!” Nana called and looked at me.

“What’s going on?” She whispered and I shook my head.

“She knows everything”I replied her.

“Ha-nuel”, dad called and came closer.

He was overly surprised.

“Wh…what’s going on? What’re you doing here with Kim nana?”

“I’m Kim nana” Nana ch¡pped in, pointing to herself because dad was referring to me.

“I didn’t come here for you, Gabriel” mum said.
“I came to take my daughter”.

Although she tried sounding bold, I could still tell she was twitchy

“Not just a daughter,mum”,Nana said.
“But daughters”

She looked back at the car and I wondered why she did.

And immediately, the driver’s door opened and someone else came out.

What?

I scoffed and watched her as she stood beside the car. What’s going on?

Who’s she?

“I think she’s the third triplet” Kim said, looking at me.

“Third what?” Mum asked , agaped.

“Your third daughter,mum. The one you thought was dead.”

Mum gasped and turned to face her

She’s alive? The third triplet is alive? But mum told me she had gone missing. She survived?”

“Kim Jin?” Mum called, slowly going to her.

Kim jin? That’s her name?”

“My baby’s alive?” She winced and tried touching her.
But she moved away

“I’m not your baby” she said bluntly
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t have a family”

Nana and I exchanged glances at each other.

“Kim” dad called,looking at nana and I
He seemed confused

“What exactly is going on here?”

“It’s a long story…dad” nana replied with an eye roll.

Immediately, the third twin opened the door of the car and tried going in.

“Kim” mum called and held her hand
“Please…”

“Didn’t you get what I said? I’m your daughter. I don’t belong here”.
Somehow, her eyes looked teary

“I grew up in the streets – rejected and ridiculed. I had to feed from the slungs, I had to sleep in the gutters. And right now, I’m telling you; I don’t have a family” she concluded and entered the car.

“No; no; listen to me. Please” mum tapped the window and tried opening the door, but couldn’t.

“Kim, listen to me, please” she cried and hit the window

Was that for real?

The lady ignited the car and started driving away.

But almost immediately, the car stopped moving.

She tried turning it on again but couldn’t and instantly, she came out of the car and started running.

“Kim!” Mum called and ran after her.

“Kim please!” She called and kept running after until they couldn’t be seen anymore

I looked at nana who also gave me a cranky look.

I thought after running after them, but changed my mind, thinking mum would need some alone time.

“Finally” Rebecca said and folded her hands.

“And now that woman is gone, can both of you explain what the heck is going on?”

Mi cha (Cold-hearted)
F**k the damn car! It wouldn’t come up

I came out and started running away and as expected, she came running after me.
“Kim jin!” She called after me.
Why the hell is she calling me that? My name is not Kim jin.

I kept running till I couldn’t anymore.

“Kim…”

“What time you want from me?” I snapped and turned to look at her.

“What do you want from me? Tell me!”
I tried fighting back the tears as I stood face to face with her.

“My baby” she whimpered and came closer.

“I beg you; don’t be mad at me”.

“I don’t even have any reason to be mad at you cause I don’t know you. I’m not your daughter. I don’t know what you’re talking about”.

“I’m your mother…”

“You’re not my mother;” I cut her off.

“I don’t have a family. Don’t you understand? I was dumped and rejected…”

“I never abandoned you Kim jin” she wept.

“Even if it’d cause my life, I’d never do such a thing.”

She paused and placed her hand on my chin.

“You were taken away from me, Kim. While you were an infant, you were abducted and I swear with my life, I tried all I could to find you but couldn’t. I tried my best baby, I never wanted to lose you. I thought you were dead. Believe me.

“I’m so sorry”.

She pulled me in a hug that I couldn’t resist easily. The wh0le thing still seemed strange to me.

She’s my mother? I have a family? But how?

Could this be real?

“I’m Sorry Kim, please” she whimpered, holding me tight.

Finally, I couldn’t hold back my tears but I quickly wiped them off and pulled away from the hug.

“I can’t” I shook my head.
“I can’t stay. I can’t accept this”

She looked at me, agaped.

“Baby,why?” She asked and I just shook my head and started walking away.

“Kim…”

“You don’t know me!” I turned to look at her, more tears dripping down.

“You don’t know anything about me. The baby you had with you isn’t the same baby you’re looking at. I’m a terrible person. I’ve done terrible things. I can’t have a family. I can’t” I said tearfully, shaking my head.

For a while, she was silent just staring at me.

“Kim…”

“Please don’t call me that. My name is Mi cha” . I sniffed and tried walking away but she ran upto me and held my hand.

“Your name is Kim jin” she said and I looked at her.
“And I know the daughter I have. She’s not a terrible person. You’re not a terrible person.

“Please Kim jin; I’ve been away from you for far too long already and now I’m begging you; give me a chance to do something better. Let me love you, please. Don’t push me away” she cried and hugged me again.

Oh God!

I tried pulling away from the hug but couldn’t. I found solace in her embrace.

But I was so scared. I couldn’t stay here. Not after everything I’ve done.

Josh – he’ll definitely come after me.
They’ll all come after me.
My life’s already a mess.

Kim nana (Crazy)
“So…both of you actually switched places?” The Rebecca whatever asked after Kim ji and I explained the entire story to her.

We were all in the sitting room.

“Well,isn’t that what we just said? Do we have t repeat ourselves?” I asked and she scoffed..

“No wonder you suddenly became b***hy and different” she said.

“Yeah and trust me; I enjoyed every bit of it”.

“That’s enough” dad ch¡pped in, his both hands in his trouser pockets.

That was the first thing he’s said since we got into the room.
He’s been so shocked.

Not long after, mum returned with Mi cha!

Perfect;!

She was able to get her Back.

Hmmmm

We all turned and watched them like a movie as they walked in, both holding each other’s hands.

“Mum” Kim ji called.

“Hm. And now the family’s complete. So, what’s gonna happen next?” Rebecca asked, making amazed.

“Don’t worry Rebecca; you can save your breath. Cause I didn’t come here for you or your husband. I just came for my daughters and now I’m done, I’ll be on my way” mum replied sternly.

“Hold on” dad scoffed.
“Are you trying to say you’re leaving with all three of them?”

“Yes. I mean, the last time I checked, I was the only patient in the labour room” she replied.

“Ha-nuel, come on. You can’t possibly be serious. The court had everything settled. You…”

“I don’t care about the court’s decision, Gabriel. The court didn’t help me give birth to them. So, my kids should be none of their business”.

She paused and turned to us.

“Come on; let’s go” she said and started walking away.

“Ha-nuel, you can’t do this…”

Before mum could reach for the door, there was already a knock on it

She stopped walking and looked back at us and since nobody else made a move, I decided to go check up on the knocker.

I opened the door and… what the hell???

The police!!!

What???

Who are they here for???
