{ History Of What Happened Then }

MONTHS EARLIER ~ DAY OF THE ONE NIGHT STAND~ RAYMOND HOUSE.

Beth stood in the front of the house where the party was being held.

She didn’t want to come but Katrina had insisted she come along threatening to get her father to fire her mother and besides Jason is also present, so whatever thing Katrina had in mind would be prevented by Jason.

She thought this as she made way into the house, some how she had a feeling that her life would change drastically once she goes in and it did change that night.

Spotting Katrina amongst her friends, Beth slowly made her way towards them.

“Who invited the messenger” Willow murmured even as Katrina went to her.

“I did, I invited her “Katrina said pulling her aside.

“Why did you invite me?” Beth asked when they made it to the counter where a drink was prepared for the both of them.

“Why else would I invite you? To make you enjoy yourself. You’ve been working hard recently and so it’s only right that I repay you for everything you’ve done, here you go” Katrina said giving her a glass which had vodka in it.

“We shouldn’t be drinking this” Beth admonished.

“Common! Every one is drinking it, we will look stupid if we don’t and besides once your done drinking, you can go meet Jason, he’s over there” she said pointing behind Beth who followed her direction.

“Am just not used to drinking such thing” Beth said wrinkling her face in distaste but then she gulp the whole thing feeling the effect burn her throat.

“That’s good, now party around. It’s nice to mingle in such parties, it might help bring you out of your poverty life” Katrina said acidly before walking off.

Katrina got to where Jason was waiting with his drink in his hand.

“Did she drink it?” Jason asked and she nodded.

“Now, the only thing left is for her to sleep off while I get the boys to do their job”

“Must you really go far?” Jason asked.

“It’s the only way you can break up with her and date me. If we don’t this, she will blame me for stealing you away and not to worry, those boys aren’t going to sleep with her, they are just going to take some pictures. So try to….”

“She’s no longer there” Jason said suddenly which got Katrina starring at the counter where Beth previously stood.

“Where could that fool have gone to?” Katrina muttered going in search of her just as Calvin walk in.

Mean while Beth kept staggering until she got to the second floor, she open the door and went into the room with her mask still on her face.

“I just need to lay down for a while and I won’t feel dizzy” she murmured going straight to the bed with out pulling off her mask.

And that was how Calvin found her later which led to their one night of passion.

It was in the wee hours of the morning that she opened her eyes only to see a stranger lying beside her.

Sitting up quickly, she was shocked to find out that she was naked and so was the stranger beside her.

What did she do? She thought as she gently picked up her things putting every thing back on.

And when she was done, she open the door and left the sleeping Calvin in the room.

She got down stairs and didn’t notice Lily who manage to take pictures of her leaving.

When she was down the street, Beth let out a sigh of relief not noticing the CCTV camera positioned in front of a mall.

She pulled off her mask, revealing her face and then further made her way down the streets.

She was about crossing to the other side of the streets when an oncoming car hit her which led to her being hospitalized for the rest of the day.

When she woke up, she could only recall every thing that happened before taking the drink but after that she couldn’t remember a thing.

The doctor told her that it was temporary memory loss due to the shock she had during the accident and that she shouldn’t stress her self about remembering that her memories will come back to her when she least expect it and so she did as he said.

She continued with her daily activities putting the one night she shared with Calvin in the deep part of her head.

~ PRESENT DAY ~ CAMPING GROUND~

“Wh…what do….you …mean that am the one?” Beth stuttered out still feeling shocked by his confession.

“You are the one Beth, have a look at this” he said showing her the picture of the CCTV camera which showed when she took off the mask.

“It is you cause this is the same girl I slept with that night. I remember pulling this gown off of you and…..” He stopped when his phone began to ring.

Seeing the caller, he picked it and listened for a while.

“Hold on a sec Peter” he said into the reciever before saying to Beth.

“Am gonna put this on speaker, so listen to what he has to say cause it’s my investigator ”

Beth couldn’t say any thing in reply and so she watch him put it on speaker while he move towards her so she could hear Peter talk.

“Just like you ordered me to, am currently in saint Luke hospital and I have her result with me. The doctor diagnosis then is that she’s suffering from temporary memory loss and also I dig deeper into it and got some CCTV footage of the hospital, I can send you the video I acquired” Peter said while Calvin kept starring at Beth who had gone quiet.

“Send it then and thanks Peter” Calvin said before ending the call.

“If you wait for a while, he will send me the footage and…..”

“There’s no need for that!” Beth said backing away from him.

“Why?”

“Can you please give me some time alone, I need to assimilate every thing you’ve just told me” she replied before walking off hoping he wouldn’t follow.

She walk the few distance to her tent and got into it, moving straight to her bed.

She still can’t believe that she’s Calvin mystery girl. When the doctor had told her not to stress her self in remembering the things she forgot, she felt that she had forgotten some thing important and that some thing important was Calvin.

Calvin who had kept her in his heart,Calvin who have been searching for her and even went as far as to disguise himself just to find her.

She had forgotten the memories she spent with him while he never did.

“Your back!” Lily who had gone for a shower said as she made her way towards Beth who was lost in thought.

“Is some thing wrong?” Lily asked as she went to seat beside Beth.

“The thing is that Calvin told me…..”

“Calvin told you that he doesn’t care about Katrina being his mystery girl and that he only longs for you?” Lily said quickly, cutting Beth off.

“Not that, he says am his mystery girl” Beth said and for a while Lily did not believe her but when Beth told her about every thing he said, she finally believed.

“My God! So we’ve been going around in circles when it’s been you” Lily said while Beth nodded.

“So why aren’t you happy? You are in love with Calvin and he is with you, what’s stopping you from hugging and kissing him?” Lily joked.

“Am just shocked by the whole thing. Am still feeling shocked that I can’t even face him ” Beth admitted just as Lily got a text from Calvin.

On reading it she let out a slow smile and stood up.

“Well you should get some rest while thinking about it, I will give you some time to think and….”

“Don’t leave, I can get some rest while you…..”

“No! You need absolute rest and you need to do it alone. So am gonna leave you while you do it, see you later” Lily said dashing out of the tent before Beth could stop her.

She let out a slow sigh and stood up to go close the tent when Calvin walked in.

“What are you doing here?” Beth asked.

“A little favour from Lily” he replied zipping up the tent him self.

“What do you mean by favour?” Beth asked feeling uncomfortable.

“I told Lily to let me stay with you and in exchange she gets to use my tent and she agreed” He replied watching her intently.

“Why would you want to stay with me?” She asked slowly.

“So you won’t run away again. You did that two months ago and I won’t let you do it now” he replied moving towards her while Beth kept walking back wards until her foot hit the bed which got her sitting on it.

Calvin sat beside her and took hold of her hand not giving her a chance to get up.

“What’s wrong? Aren’t you happy to know that you are my mystery girl?” He asked while she looked away from him shyly.

“I am….I am happy but then….”

“But” Calvin urged.

“But I feel sorry” she replied still not starring at him.

“Sorry? Why?”

“Am sorry for leaving you that night and putting us all through this ordeal, am sorry for giving you a hard time during the past two months that you’ve been searching for me and most of all am sorry for losing my memory” she said sadly.

“You don’t have to be sorry about that. You only reacted the normal way and besides you couldn’t have fore seen the accident which rub you of your memory” He said trying to assure her.

“But it’s still unfair to you, I still don’t remember a thing that took place between you and me. You know all the sordid details whereas I don’t….” She stop when she realized what she was saying.

“I shouldn’t have said that” she muttered while Calvin kept smiling.

“If you are worried about our one night of passion, I can tell you about it or better yet I can show you” he murmured which got her starring at him.

“Stop fretting over the past and think about now. We are back together after being apart for two months and just so you know, I love you” he said and Beth heart began thumping like crazy at hearing him say the one word she’s been eager to hear.

“I love you Beth, I love you and I hope you still love me cause what you told me yesterday still bothers me” he added when she kept starring at him.

“Aren’t you going to say some thing?” He asked.

“Well…it’s just that I….I feel too overwhelmed to say a thing but I….I do love you. I love you so much Calvin” she confessed even as he pulled her into his arms, holding her tight in his embrace.

“Have finally found my cure and she’s right here in my arms where have always want her to be” he said with so much happiness while she laugh out.

“Isn’t that too cheesy?” She asked moving out of his arms to stare down at him.

“Nothing is cheesy when am with you” he said kissing her which startled her.

“What? You should start getting used to my kisses and caresses cause I plan on doing it all the time” he said before kissing her again.

And this time Beth didn’t feel startled, she kissed him back while he tightened his hold on her.

Eric who had been standing outside the tent and who had heard every thing they both said turned to leave with a sad expression on his face.

Beth and Calvin who didn’t notice Eric outside reluctantly end their kiss.

“So aren’t you going to your room?” Beth asked touching his lips.

“No! I plan on staying with you tonight, Lily can share with Willow” Calvin said moving away from her to lay on her bed.

“But Calvin you…..”

“Don’t worry! Am not planning on having my wicked ways with you tonight, I just want to hold you in my arms,so come lie beside me” he suggested.

Beth slowly got into the bed, going into Calvin arms while he pulled her to him protectively.

“I love you” he murmured while she echoed his words before falling asleep in his arms…..

~ THE NEXT DAY ~

Beth was chuckling to herself at the thought of what took place between her and Calvin last night when three junior students approached her.

“Is it true?” 🗣️

“Is he really older than us?”🗣️

“And is his reason for enrolling in our school, pretending to be our age due to the fact that he wants to bed the innocent girls in school?” 🗣️

The three girls bombarded her with questions and it took a while before she calmed them down.

“Now let’s take this…..” Beth stopped when she heard Lily calling her name.

“You’ve got to see this!” Lily said showing her a post on the school website.
