Episode 17

“Leave the rest up to me now. The police have been informed on this. Thanks good you both have issued an arrest warrant. They are on their way to arrest both your brother and his lover. I am use there nothing you both have to worry about now” Mr Blackface had informed them both as soon as two officers walked out of the office after having a brief discussion with them.

“I can’t believe I am arresting my brother. The only person I have of my family ” Helia had said feeling emotional.

“He isn’t a brother. He deserves this. Do not feel bad. All this is being done for his own good ” Anderson tried comforting her.

“You think so? ”

“Miss Helia, do not worry. Everything will be better as soon as he gets out of jail. He might decide to throw in the towel and start afresh. He has your mother’s blood. By next tomorrow, we should be getting news from the police on this case” Mr Black face added.

“I just hope he is found. He can be stupid at times you know”

“He won’t run away if he is wise but will if he is actually smart. Do not worry about this Miss Helia. I think it is best for you to leave for the station for your statement ” Helia agreed on this. She thanked her mother’s lawyer for every effort he had put in helping her case and hope the hospital is in safe hands soon.

“The doc-ments have been approved by the high court. All is needed is to catch those two thieves and stop the transaction between them both. We shouldn’t let them get the hospital sold”

“Mr Blackface, are you really sure there is no other problem at all”

“There is none dear. There sure is none. You are free to live your life as you want. I will handle the rest” Helia felt a big relief after hearing this statement from her attorney. In months she was finally getting to feel like herself again. She had nothing to worry over anymore. She could sleep soundly now. With a big smile she bid the attorney goodbye and walked out with Anderson following her behind.

“All this wouldn’t have been possible without you Anderson. Thanks a lot” She appreciated him just as soon as they were out

“Do not thank me. I am not doing you a favour at all. I helped you on my own free will”

“I don’t care. There should be a way I should repay you for this ”

“I don’t need any favour. I tell you. Just take care of yourself. That’s the most important ”

She nodded in agreement and walked ahead of him. Anderson had this urge to tell her how he actually felt about her and also his dark secret but he couldn’t because he was scared of how she might react. He zipped up his mouth planning to unzip it when the right moment comes but still he doubted if that was wise. As she walked on, she didn’t realize a woman coming in front of her and mistakenly bumped into her pouring all her files. The woman flayed up immediately in annoyance.

“You useless lady, can’t you see where you are going? What’s wrong with you? How dare you fall my files that way? Are you blind? ”

“I am sorry ma. I didn’t… ” Before she could complete her statement, the aggressive woman pushed her so hærd that she’d lose her balance and almost fell but luckily Anderson was right in time to catch from falling for the second time. The woman hissed staring at them both.

“What do you think you are doing? Can’t you see that she is pregnant? ” he asked furiously steadying her.

“Well, I didn’t know. She never told me. She should just try to use her eyes next time ” The woman answered rudely and bent to pick up her file. As soon as she was gone, Anderson sat Helia down slowly and searches around wondering where to get her water.

“I am fine” She turned down his help.

“Are you sure? ” He asked.

“Yes. I am fine. Very fine. Don’t worry about me” She answered.

“Don’t mind what the woman said. She didn’t realize you were actually pregnant ”

“It’s alright. That’s some people’s mentality actually”

“Are you sure you aren’t hurt? ”

“I am fine. Stop making me feel weak ”

“Sorry. I am really sorry. ” he apologized. “Are you sure you can live your wh0le life raising your child by yourself? ”

“Yes. I can raise my baby myself ”

“Are you really sure Helia? I know you try to be strong an brave but you are still a young woman. You deserve to be happy. Just see what happened today for instance, if not for me that woman would have embarrassed you”

“What are you trying to say then? ”

Anderson held out for her hand wrapped his hands round it. She got surprised on what he was actually doing. She wanted to withdraw her hand rudely but something stopped her from doing so. She felt something different towards him.

“Helia, I know there are lots about me I can’t tell you now for your own good but do you mind letting me father for child? ” He asked.

Helia got shocked and withdrew her hand promptly this time. She felt he was insane. She knew she wanted this. Yes she did but things were happening rather too quickly. He was certainly insane.

“How can you say that? We only met a month ago. You don’t know me that well. How can you make such a decision so fast? ”

“I know it’s strange to you but I am willing to help you. Don’t turn down my offer”

“You are insane. I can’t ruin your life like this. I can’t let you marry me for just a favour. I will rather let you be with a woman you love. Forget me ”

“So do you really want me to say that I love you now? ”

“Stop kidding me. This is about our lives. Stop joking with this”

“I am not. I love you so much Helia. I am ready to accept this responsibility. The reason will be told later”

“What reason are you talking about? Why will you do this favour for me just like that? What is so special about the reason that you won’t tell me now? Were you you the one that raped me that night? ” She asked with a squeezed face. Anderson face froze on hearing her question. He didn’t know what reply to give her. She studied his expression and laughed. ” I was only joking Anderson. I love you too. I am ready to accept your offer. I am ready to marry you”

Anderson wasn’t moved by her answer. The question still rang in his ears over and over again. He didn’t notice her draw him closer for a hug still smiling.

“I love you too Anderson. I will marry you”

Episode 18

Anderson was in his room thinking about his previous argument with Priscilla. He couldn’t believe she thought of him to be that cruel. He knew deep in,side that he wasn’t cruel. How could she have felt he could molest a girl purposely? That he wouldn’t be able to make a woman happy? He would proof to her she was wrong all along by getting to make Helia the most happiest girl in the wh0le wild world. He surely would. But first he thought of telling her the truth. He can’t hide it from her any longer. He would have to tell her.

“Son, what was that all about? ” His mother had asked walking in.

“What do you mean? ”

“You had a fight with Priscilla again? Why? ”

“She caused it. We are over now” He answered with no guilt.

“What was the fight all about? ” She asked with concern. He didn’t blame her for asking. She had always loved Priscilla so much and was even ready to accept her as a daughter in law. Too bad he had no interest in her anymore.

“She thinks I am having a relationsh¡p with Mrs Kim’s daughter. How could she? ” His mum’s look changed.

“She is so stupid to have thought that. How could she have thought you would have an affair with a rape victim. You will never do that. How can she think so low of you? ” Anderson eye w¡dened in shock.

“You know about her rape?” He asked wondering how many more people knew.

“Yes of course. Who doesn’t know? Her mum is a close friend to your father and to you as well. I sure you should have known that by now. Girls like her never learn until they are raped. As in what was she even doing in a club anyway? I also learnt that she was some kind of drunk before all this had happened to her” Anderson needed no one to tell him his mum hated her so much especially with the way she spoke. He m-ssaged his jaw wondering how to convince her it wasn’t entirely her fault.

“That was then but she is completely different now. She is trying all she can to revive her mum’s hospital and that shows how responsible she is”

“So you are trying to tell me that Priscilla is right. You are definitely having a relationsh¡p with her”

“No mother… I… ”

“No! No! Do not deviate from this issue now. So you are beginning to find interest in her? ”

“No mother. I have no feelings for her of any sort but I feel I have a responsibility over her”

“What kind of responsibility? ” He was silent. He felt awkward on whether to confess about the rape issue on not. That would be a wrong move. He wasn’t ready to make her know yet.

“Tell me son, what type of responsibility do you have over her? Did you rape her? Have you gotten her pregnant now? ” His mum went on shooting at him the questions he feared. His heart began to race fast. He had no words to say.

“Well I… I… ” He stammered.

“Don’t tell me you were the one who actually raped her Anderson? So you were one of those men who raped her that night? “She asked in anger.

“It was all a mistake mother. I never meant to hurt her that way. I…”

“I always wondered. No wonder the days had coincided. The night I called up Priscilla telling her to help you out due to what I heard from a farmer who I knew very well, that was the same night Mrs Kim daughter was raped by four men. I felt so disgusted that night but I never knew you were one of them”

“It was such an awful night mother. That’s why I want to take responsibility over her”

“Just forget her already. It will look stupid if you go after her now. She must have gotten over the rape already. Another man will get married to her. Just leave it as it is” She advised fearing the fact that Helia might be introduced into her family.

“That’s impossible. She is pregnant ” His mum gasped.

“What? She is pregnant? Well, then let her be pregnant. You weren’t the only one that raped her after all. Why must you take the responsibility of another man? ”

“The probability of me being the father is high because I was the first that raped her that night”

“Let’s stop all this discussion now. It’s getting me irritated. I hate news like this. It upsets me a lot. Just forget her. She will take care of herself. I don’t want that girl in my family or house. Marry a more descent girl. It doesn’t have to be Priscilla. There are many other girls”

“She has loved faith in all men mother and that’s of me. I am trying to get her back to herself. A man might never marry her with that child”

“So now what will you do? Will you walk right at her face and tell her you raped her or what? ”

“I will tell her. I keep can’t keep it a secret’

“You are crazy. Completely crazy. You will lose her if you tell her okay? Things will get messy between you both”

“Look mum, I can’t keep it in me anymore. There is a possibility I am actually responsible”

“Fine. Tell her if you wish but I will prefer do a DNA test. In order to clear this confusion” Anderson promised to. He would surely carry out the test soon but at the right time.

The search for Georgia and Chris seemed to have prolonged for a while. Georgia had discovered the will was gone and must have escaped in tension with Chris. She wasn’t found in her apartment nor have her husband heard from her. Chris on the other hand wasn’t seen at all. The two were found guilty and charged to court. Their search warrant began.

Their pictures were posted on newspapers and news magazines. Their names were announced on the radio stations. A large amount of money was promised to whomever it was that must have seen them somewhere in the country or outside but Helia doubted if that would work. Despite all that, they heard no news about them both. No one knew where they were. It was few days later that a news had reached them on a guy with Chris resemblance who was found lying unconscious in his hotel room. She accompanied the police to the hospital where the man was admitted alongside with Anderson who wouldn’t let her go alone. She got the shock of her life discovering it really was her brother Chris.

“What happened to him? ” She asked in confusion.

“He was shot in the chest but unfortunately he isn’t dead when we found him… He is a lucky guy” The inspector told her as they both stared on at him on the hopital bed.
