INTIMATE TWINS
(BLANK WORLD)
EPISODE 14
Written by author Nath
Trying to balance an object on the edge of a sharp knife is not only risky but painful too. Either the object get cut into two equal half or it’s wounded badly. This was the kind of risk the twins were about to subject others to in the blank world. Surely, Jessica wouldn’t spare any of their lives if by any slight discovery that they were planning to escape from the blank world.
Nevertheless, days passed, Amaya had fully recovered. She stepped out from the house with her brother, inhaled the fresh evening air which filled their lungs like a balloon. They glanced at each other.
“Are you ready, brother?” Amaya asked Sunday.
“Let’s go” he replied.
They hurried down to their horses, mounted at the same time, steer and galloped away, as if they were on a racing competition. At the same time, Benny and Cynthia mounted one horse in a way the lady was behind, holding the young medical professioner tightly. They all met at Jimmy’s residence, standing before the boy who became a bit confuse, walked to Amaya and whispered, “What are these people doing here?”
“They are with us!” she replied. “Just show us how far you’ve gone” she added.
No one could be found in the sanctum except them. They could hear chattering of people from outside. Sunday glanced through one of the windows to see clippers hanging around like security officers. Cynthia glanced at Benny too. From her look one could tell that she had already been consumed by fear. Jimmy finally looked at them all, saying as an afterthought, “Follow me.”
Just before they stepped out, Mello entered like a monitoring spirit. hærdly would you see him with shirt, always on short and singlet. His very light hair coiled like that of a woman, also having a fair complexion. All stared at him, then turned to Jimmy to explain.
“He’s Mello, my friend” he explained on a nutshell.
Amaya anylized him immediately and said. “I don’t like him!” she frowned.
“And who likes you?!” Mello mimicked her in retaliation. “You nearly had my friend clipped by Jessica the other day. Now you’re luring him to another danger, believing there is another world out the..!”
“Shut your mouth!” Benny interrupted him. “What do you think you know, Mello, whatever you call yourself?”
Mello stepped into their midst unabashedly. “What I know is that what you are about to do is suicide. Jessica is more than what you think! She must find out, then have your heads clipped off! You all will become escape goats, a thing of mockery and example to others who are harbouring this same suicidal in their minds!” he spoke boldly like a warrior motivating his soldiers in a battle field, though cowardly. His words carried fear, assimilated into their body and soul like the words of God, sharper than two edges swards. The silence that followed it could elaborate on that. Already, Cynthia had started trembling again, swallowing lump of saliva in an interval.
“Don’t listen to this clown!” Amaya broke the silence. “He’s Jessica’s ally! We gonna push through with our plans!”
“I’m no Jessica’s ally” Mello spread his hands.
“Then how do you know she’s not what we think she is?” Sunday cheep in.
“She’s just unpredictable! She’s everywhere like a witch!”
“Alright!” Benny took over in a matured manner and a calmed voice, while they listened. “Mello, there is a real world, that’s where we all came from. We are captives here. We have relatives there who believe we’re dead or lost. We need to continue on our way back there.” He paused, stretched his hand on the boy’s shoulder. “You can join us too” he concluded.
“What’s your plan?” Mello mellowed his voice.
Jimmy stepped forward. “We’ve built something that could sail on the river..”
“It’s called a boat” Benny corrected.
“It can sail us through this part of the world.”
Mello spread his hands again. “Is that all?”
“No, but we can’t reveal all to you because my sister doesn’t trust you!” Sunday replied aggressively.
“Sister? Where did you get that from?” Mello was still inquisitive. Immediately, Cynthia sighted a Clipper coming then said, “We need to leave now!”
“This way!” Jimmy led the way.

All arrived to their destination, by the river which seems to be everywhere. Tall trees could be seen at every angles, surrounded by shrubs. Maintaining absolute silence, they could hear the river flowing and other animals chirping. Cynthia never left Benny’s side, likewise Amaya to Sunday. Jimmy and Mello maintained the same posture.
“First, where is the boat?” Amaya spoke up.
“Here,” Jimmy pointed at a s₱0t where he covered it with dry leaves. Unfortunately, the boat wasn’t there anymore when he went for it. “What?!” he exclaimed.
“What’s going on, Jimmy?” Sunday approached.
“It was here! I can’t find it anymore!” the poor boy lamented, remembering the difficulties he passed through just to calve out the boat.
Mello clapped his hands mockingly, chuckling at the same time. “Why am I not surprise? Jessica must have known your plans and took it away! I told you this is mission impossible.”
Amaya glared at him in a close range, firing back with a mean voice. “If Jessica is aware of our plans, we won’t be standing here with our heads on our necks. I believe you have something to do with the missing boat.”
Mello glared back. “Leave my sight before I change my mind small girl.” he retorted as others watched both of them. Though Amaya may be fourteen but her height was really intimidating.
Sunday angrily began to meet Mello like a wrestler about to commence a fight after being motivated by heroic flute and drums. “Are you threatening my sister?” he had said in motion.
“I believe you’re looking for this!” A male deep voice came from afar. They all turned to the direction of the voice to see a man carrying the boat—that was Mr Jude, Val’s father. He walked to them, threw the boat on the ground as they stared at him.
“Who are you?” Benny asked him.
“I’m Jude.” he clapped her hands clean. “I know what y’all are doing here. I monitored this boy from the day he started building this boat.” he pointed at Jimmy, breathing hastily. On his jaw was some beads which had turned gray already. “If you’re planning to escape from this doom, I must come with you” he concluded.
“Escape to where?” Mello’s voice sounded.
“The real world of course” Mr Jude replied.
Jimmy looked at his friend. “Now, do you believe there is a real world?” He asked him. But he kept mute.
“This place is just an illusion” Mr Jude began. “There is a real world created by God where everything is beautiful in it. Please, reveal your plans to me. I need to see my family.” he sounded pitifully. The tone of his voice did not only weaken Amaya to carry him along, it also stirred up in her the hunger to see the real world…..
