“Thank you.” Val hastily took the phone from the man who left the room immediately, leaving Amaya and her crush all alone again. Val put on the phone only to find it half blind on the screen and the battery at the verge of dying. The manner in which he focused on the phone could tell Amaya that her presence in that room wasn’t noticed anymore thoughtless of the food she served on the bed. Nevertheless, concerned, she walked to him saying, “That must be a phone.”
Val glanced at her. “Yes, how do you know that?” he began to touch the screen to see if it would respond.
Amaya smiled. “Cynthia made mention of it months ago.” She paused, watching as Val battled with the phone. “Is it yours?” she asked.
“Yes, the screen is now faulty and the battery is about to die. I can’t do anything except hopefully someone calls” he flung the phone on the bed which nearly hit the plate of food. Only then did he remember it and Amaya’s initial smile that flashed through his head. Therefore he turned to her with a bedroom voice. “Please, I’m sorry. I was carried away by…”
“It’s fine” Amaya interrupted him, hurried and opened the cereal food happily for him. Majestically, Val had them chewing in his mouth like an asparagus, while Amaya sat opposite him, smiling like a third wife who is doing her damndest to win the husband’s heart. “Hope you like it” she said.
Val forcefully smiled broadly with some particles of the food in his mouth. Though he didn’t like the taste of it but commended on it saying, “It tastes real good. I like it.” He nodded. His response stopped Amaya’s heart from beating at a moment then continued joyfully. Obviously she couldn’t explain how she feels about the stranger before her, always comfortable and confident, smiling around him.
“Thank you for saving my life yesterday.” She broke the silence that wanted to creep in between them.
“I think I know your mother” Val changed the subject instantly.
“Really?” Amaya rejoiced.
“You have her eyes, nose and most of all, her beautiful face.” Val gradually stopped eating, both, staring at each other. Only Amaya was smiling, while Val, finally, captured by her beauty. “She’ll be pleased to see you.” he added.
“I can’t wait to see the real world”
“You will and you must.. ummm.. Amaya” he recalled her name, looked at the food then obliged to the service. Well mannered, he carried the plate out, neglecting Amaya’s effort to restrain him. Just then, his ringing phone startled Amaya who walked close to it, carried it up and mistakenly picked it coz the touch pad was till functioning. The phone stopped ringing. Due to the quietness of the room, she was able to hear a female voice from the phone, so she placed it on her ear.
“Hey, Val are you there?” the female voice said again. Of course it was Lina.
“He’s not around” Amaya fearfully replied.
“Who the f-ck are you?!”
Amaya frowned at her annoying voice. “My name is Amaya, and take it easy!”
Hearing the name ‘Amaya,’ Lina became emotionally down from the other side of the world, thus her voice changed accordance with her emotion. “I’m sorry, but tell him that we’re doing everything possible to get another key to the blank world.” She paused as Amaya listened. “Also tell him that.. that.. Lina loves and misses him already.” She added.
On this side of the world, Amaya also became emotional hearing her last statement. Before she could reply, the phone went dead. Val walked in that moment to see the phone on the girl’s ear. He rushed her, took it from her hastily as if the phone was a harmful object. But sadly discovered the battery finally dead. He looked at Amaya.
“Did someone call?”
“It sounded. I don’t know how I did it and a voice began to speak from it.”
“Who was that, and what did he or she say?” the boy was dying in curiosity.
Amaya sat at the edge of the bed. “She said they’re doing everything possible to find another key. And also…” She swallowed.
However, hearing the pronoun ‘she’ Val understood who the caller was. “Also what?” he was still curious and inquisitive.
Amaya stood up, her face dropping along with her voice. “She also said that she misses you and… and.. loves you” she stared at him for a moment. “I’ll be in the farm” she left the room heartbroken.

REAL WORLD
Briskly, she quickened her steps on the shinny floor of the medical hospital, wearing a loose gown that tend to sweep the floor with it’s unimaginable length. Her face dimmed while her eyes changed colour, trying to shed tears. Sooner did she open the ward of her husband to see him lying on a sick bed. He looked older than when he was declared dead. Mrs Kate fell beside the bed, crying seriously. Mr Jude opened his eyes to behold his long anticipated wife. He began to cares her face bitterly while the wife felt his warm palms, still crying silently.
“I’m so so sorry, honey!” she began to plead. “I should have known you weren’t dead. I should have known where you were to be able to save you. I don’t know how they did it. I don’t know!” she cried.
“There is nothing you would have done my dear.” the husband also began to shed tears. “If i have to die now, I’ll gladly do so coz I’ve seen your beautiful face again. I miss you so much, Kate”
“I miss you more” they tightened their palms stronger like a covalent bond.
Police siren pave around the city when the news has totally circulated. Cynthia and the other three boys could be seen on the television of every home, interviewed by some press at the resident of Celina. After the interview, Mello couldn’t believe seeing himself on T.V!
On the other hand, in the panic room, Pakyle opened Lina’s room to see her sitting on the floor and shedding tears which he had never seen the young girl do for years because she was as strong as a rock. But you know what they say: love can make a strong man weak.
“Lina?” Pakyle closed the door behind him. The poor girl couldn’t respond rather stood up in a hurry and hugged the old man, crying on his shoulder. Pakyle did nothing but pat her back like a father he had always been to hjer. “Everything gonna be fine, Lina” he consoled her even though he didn’t know exactly why she was crying…..
