πŸ’œ Lavender’s viewpoint πŸ’œ

To say the least, my life was going fantastic. In case you didn’t get it, that was sarcasm. As much as I liked how my children were happy, I hated how close they were getting to him and how much I had to pretend like I was okay. Zachary was easier to bribe than I thought. In less than one week, he was already worshΒ‘pping the ground his father walked on. Why? His father had IQ and I don’t. His father let him use his cool laboratory and I didn’t even have anything related to a lab. His father gave him a credit card and was teaching him how to drive.

Don’t blame me. He brought up the idea two days earlier and the children were excited. They hadn’t actually started the lesson yet, but they were going to. Zachary was going to learn how to drive and Sera was going to learn how to make him submit into becoming her driver for the rest of his life. My little angel already had it all planned out.

Serenity just wanted to experience the joy of having her brother drive her, Zyaire, the joy of mocking him if he fails and the only thing Zayne cared about was food I wasn’t giving him much of, you know, his diet? I couldn’t take that away from them.

It was Monday, the week they were beginning school. Mara, George’s wife was coming to pick them up so they would go to school together with her children. She willingly and gleefully accepted to be their driver. The children all did their entry exams and their score shocked the life out of me. I knew they were smart, but I didn’t expect what Rominic told me when got the call from the principal. Zayne was qualified to be in fifth grade! Serafina got into fourth grade but the others were in third grade.

Zachary would have been in six grade, but he had problems with anything else that didn’t deal with calculation; way too far for a jump. Plus, he didn’t want to be too far away from his siblings. Zayne, Serenity and Zyaire were to be in third grade with George’s first daughter, Serafina remained in fourth grade and Zachary stuck to fifth. I was proud of them, even though I did wish they were in the same class.

So, back to the children going to school. It was also my first day of work as the PA of my enemy. I went for something simple, something to show how much I hate him–if he puts two and two together that is.

I wore a black lacy camisole under a really, tight black cardigan, black tulip skirt that stopped at my calves and black toe pumps. I made my makeup dark, gave myself a scary look and packed my hair into a side swept wavy ponytail, a messy one. I made the edge of my hair black, especially the front side. Call it weird but I was pissed and the color helped me relax.

I stood outside with my hands in the pocket of my cardigan, looking at Zachary babbling on and on about the new toy he created the other day and how he would impress his teachers with it. Rominic stood at his car, leaning on it with hands in the pockets of his p-nts, eyes fixed on my son. He was listening attentively, clearly loving how joyful the boy making gestures was. He was handling the father thing like a champ, more than I expected of him.

I won’t say I wasn’t bothered by his ugliness… Oh, you know what I mean by ugly! I wished I could snack that Mr. Cool smile that refused to leave his face or the gentle innocence in his eyes when he was nothing but that. I hated the way his voice sounded like nail to a chalkboard or my stepmother’s singing voice. His stupid cream hair always had this stubbornness and would never lay flat on his head. He had natural extremely curly hair, almost like waves but not waves and at the same time, not curls. He used to struggle with it all the time, but I would help him put his hair down enough.

Too bad I wasn’t helping him.

The locks spread across his forehead and covered his eyes down to his l-ips. Imagine taper fade with curly tips hanging down the right side of a man’s face, over his eye and down to the beginning of his upper l-ips with few noticable curls across your forehead. He couldn’t gel the hair to hide it, the stubborn thing would always find a way to break free. Then, I convinced him to try the haircut and it looked really hot on him.

The other thing I despise about him. How dare he carry my hairstyle with so much pride, taunting me that he can do whatever he wants. And how dare him look so hot in his casual office wear! Who wears jeans and s€×y shirts to work, call Rominic Verlice. He could never survive four hours in a suit, he would blow up and throw a tantrum. And since he was the boss, he wore whatever he liked.

“I hate suits, and because I hate suits, I hate suits. Case close.” Would always be his reply.

Stupid man.

For the day, he was wearing deep blue jeans, a tight V-neck shirt that constrict the muscles of his arms and chest, brought out his sinful abs lines and made me hate him more. His shoes was some kind of trainers, don’t know but it as f-ck looked good on him. And to top it all, he had his earrings on.

Why does he have to wear earrings? Doesn’t he know how much I love it when he… Of course! That’s it!

I rolled my eyes, snacking my tongue to get the taste of bile out. I could feel my stomach bile in my mouth, disgusted by the man I let take my V-rginity. Okay, he wasn’t the one but concluding that he did makes it easier to hate him. Still hate the useless f-cker who did.

“They are here!” Serenity shrieked, jumping with joy in Kara’s arms. Kara and Jamie were finally going to leave, we were to drop them at the airport and wait for Rominic’s insane sisters to come and attack us. Miss those bitches actually. I knew Rominic was dreading the return of his sisters, they were mean to him for the fun of it.

“Grandma, put me down,” Serene huffed when Kara refused to put her down. Kara whimpered and dropped her. Serenity didn’t waste time in running towards the parking car. The two girls jumped out of the car and I watched the children except Zachary and Sera, reunite with themselves.

“I’ll introduce you to all my friends!” Gabby, the youngest chirped. I averted my eyes to continue hating my ex but almost gasped when I caught him looking at me. I felt conscious all of a sudden. I knew I was slender before, but since I gave birth, I grew fats in places and didn’t like how men looked at me. Mr. Miller told me that I wasn’t fat but actually hot, that I added hotness to the right places.

Do I believe him? No, I don’t.

I frowned and looked at my chest, glaring at my heart to stop beating. He had no f-cking right to make me insecure of my body. Yes, I grew fat, but what is he expecting! I f-cking pushed five babies out of me. Let’s not forget the pain and the expansion and bad nutrient. I blame him, not me. But even with those thoughts, I still felt scared by the way he was looking at me. He was probably comparing me to his precious Peyton.

Again, where’s that bitch?

I made sure to hiss quietly at him when our eyes finally met. He looked away immediately. I followed his gaze to Gabby who was now trying to talk to bored face Zachary. The little girl was enthusiastic and believed that everybody needed a friend. And since Zachary was an obvious loner, she had made it her mission to add colors to his life at the same time find a way to gain her crush’s attention. She had a huge crush on Zyaire whose girlfriend was sports and videogames.

When she shifted closer to him, Zach desperately threw a “help me” look to Sera who rolled her eyes and folded her hands. Zach stepped away with panic and his gaze came to me. “Get her away from me!” Was what he was shouting in his head.

“Okay, kids, time to go!” I shouted chirpily, clapping my hands to get their attention.

“Right, I do have work,” Mara added, giving me a wide grin. Glad she didn’t notice Zachary and Gabby. Zach was the first to run to the car and called shotgun, the safest place from Gabby. A chuckle left my l-ips when I saw her smirk and cracked her neck, accepting the challenge.

Game on.

“You have got to be kidding me,” I heard Jamie murmured beside me. I covered my mouth and swallowed my laugh.

“Bye, mom!” Their voices continued to fill the air until Mara drove off with them. I averted my eyes to Rominic who was again looking at me. I rolled my eyes and scoffed.

Time to deal with him.

~~~
Everything was almost still the same. The company was still the way I redesigned it. I smiled as I walked behind him, looking around my work. It was the first thing I did when we were still friends. He was complaining that he didn’t like how his company looked, his father’s taste. I offered to help him. He was skeptical at first, because I wasn’t a professional, but I sure showed him and everyone else.
Then, I thought I really impressed him with my hærd work and that helped my campaign on winning his heart. Little did I know he was going to ask me out anyways.
“Welcome, Mr. Verlice.” The greeting went on and on. The curious eyes of the worker was fixed on the fat lady behind their boss, who looks like she was plucked out of a evil novel. Yeah, I get it.
“Mr. Verlice,” his secretary greeted. After all these years, he was still working for the c*ck master. Rubbish.
“Paxton,” he said with a curt nod. Paxton didn’t care about his coldness because his scrutinizing gaze was on me.
Wait, his secretary’s name isn’t Paxton.
“And who is this if I may ask, Mr. Verlice?” He asked politely, his eyes running down my body.
“My new PA, La…”
“Jamila,” I interrupted, glaring at his back to object. But since he wasn’t looking at me, he spoke anyways.
“Vender, Lavender. You are to show her what she’ll do while I attend the meeting, is that okay?”
“Of course,” then Paxton looked at me. He was the exact replica of Orion, the secretary I know. But looking at him closer, this one was slimmer with softer feature and pale blue eye. Orion’s eyes were brown. I knew then that this was the younger brother he never shut up about.
“And what shall I call you, miss?”
“Jamila,” I smiled at him.
“Call her that and you’re fired,” he threatened and he was serious. Startled Paxton nodded with fear and gulp. “I’m off.” And just like that, he was walking off to the elevator.
“You don’t control me, meat face,” I murmured, made my fingers into a gun and shot him in the head. He surprisingly gave me his middle finger, making me gasp. He laughed before sliding into the closing elevator, turning around quick enough to wink at my startled face. Once his face was out of view, I was able to remember that he was a demon with ten eyes at the back of his head and his butt.
“Motherf-cker,” I cursed under my breath. I placed my hands on my hΒ‘ps and blew the loose strand of hair out of my face. I looked at Paxton and deadpanned him. “What are you looking at?”
“Oh, s…sorry, I’ll show you to your office,” he said, making a gesture for me to follow him to the worker’s elevator. I blew my hair once more before following him. It was silent in the elevator before I spoke with a smile. I was too harsh on him and if I remember correctly, he was an emotional one.
“So, I’m guessing you are Orion’s younger brother,” his head snapped to me with wide eyes, “yes, I know him. How’s that hunk anyways?”
“He’s… Ur… Fine?”
“How come you are working here?”
“He started a small business and quit but boss was kind enough to replace me with him. How do you know my brother? Ex?” He ran his eyes over my body as he asked.
“Why don’t you ask him who I am to him. Ask him who Lavender Amherst is and he’ll tell you.”
“You don’t know, do you?” He murmured sadly. I raised my brow in question. “Orion died in a fire last year. There was an accident at his business center and he…” He took in a deep breath and exhaled. I reached forward and patted his back. I didn’t like Orion much, but that doesn’t mean I was going to dismiss his death.
“I’m guessing you are one of those who hate his guts,” he chuckled bitterly.
“I…”
“It’s okay, I know my brother was a serious d*ck and I don’t blame anyone for it. Sometimes I wonder why boss hired his ass in the first place. When I came here, I had to prove myself to everyone and show that I’m different before they trusted me.” He seemed more angry than sad.
“You don’t like your brother?”
“I love the man but we are talking about the man who repeatedly told everyone about how wayward and hopeless I was,” he frowned deeper. It was true. Orion only spoke badly of him. “You can imagine how much everyone looked at me, like the wayward kid being giving a… Shit! I’m talking to a stranger, I am so sorry!” He panicked.
“It’s okay,” I waved it off with a smile, “call me Mila,” I said, stretching my hand to him. He gladly took my hand and shook it.
My first friend.
~~~

So far, so good. Paxton taught me the necessary and I was already getting use to my office which wasn’t so far from his. I hadn’t seen his ugly face so far, so it was good enough for me.

It was lunch time. I was attacked by this random girl and dragged to the cafeteria to have lunch. She was going on and on about her boyfriend who cheated on her with her best friend and how her stepfather is hot. Then she got up and promised to return to complete the juicy tale.

Does she realize that I don’t care?

“Not really,” I flinched, “sorry,” I looked ahead to see who it was. It was a lady and two guys sitting across my table. “I said she doesn’t realize you don’t care and even if she does, she don’t care.”

“How did…”

“You had the same look I had on my face the first day I resumed here,” one of the guys laughed, “she’s unbearable.” Green eyes, plum l-ips, leather black hair, hot muscles. He is definitely hot.

“Is she always like that?”

“Only twenty-four-seven,” the girl said with a scrunch of her nose. “Some girls just don’t know when to shut up,” she scoffed. The other guy choked on his drink while the hot one stared at her with disbelief. She looked at the choker with concern. “You okay?”

“Yeah, some girls just don’t know when to shut up,” choker repeated under his breath, making Charming laugh. I decided that moment that I liked them.

“Hi, I’m Lavender,”

“Like the flower or color?” The girl asked. No one had ever asked me that before. I was too stump to answer. Thankfully, choker spoke.

“I’m Micah, that’s August and the girl is Giovanna,”

“Nice,” I smiled.

“So, how did a hot stuff like you land a job as Mr. Verlice’s PA? He haven’t had a female one for years now,” one female from nowhere just asked randomly.

“I threw in my big booty and he fell for it,” I said sarcastically and rolled my eyes. She scoffed and mind her business. August laughed.

“You are sassy, I like that,”

“Wait, you didn’t really throw in your big booty, did ya?” Giovanna asked with wide eyes. I chuckled and shook my head. “So how come?”

“I…”

“Bubble Berry!” By instinct, I started laughing. I rose from my seat before his arms were around me and lifting me off the ground. He hugged me from behind, giving me a little spin. When he dropped me down, he turned me around and planted k-sses on my cheeks and forehead. “Bubble Berry, I’ve missed you!”

“Nice to meet you again, Phineas,”

“Sorry I couldn’t come visit, I heard you got a litter and died after hearing the news. Now I have fear of children and I still don’t know if I’m dead or alive,” he said stupidly.

“Yup, still the same, Phineas,”

“Glad you know. Now, let’s go, we have some catching up to do,”

“I’m at work, Phineas, you can’t just come here and take me… Nevermind,” I sighed as he began pulling me away. “Bye, guys, meet you soon!”

“Bye, bestie!” Giovanna shouted, waving at me. I smiled before we disappeared behind the door.

“I’m sorry, Bubble Berry, I didn’t know that he planned to…”

“I know,” I cut him off with a sigh, “I know.”

“And are you really going to get your revenge?” He asked, looking at me with a soft look in his eyes. I nodded with determination. Only the thought of that was already making me boil. He nodded and grinned. “You can’t really take him down, you know that, right?” I angrily nodded. “But there is one way you can frustrate him,”

“Which is?”

“Make him jealous, date men, k-ss men, punish him.”

“Why would he care? He has that Peyton bitch,”

“He left her and he does care. I’m not going to force you but when you finally see that you can’t ruin him, take my advice.” At that moment, he pushed me into the elevator.

“I thought we were going out?”

“We will after you finish doing the thing Rominic wants you to do,” he shrugged his shoulders. I scoffed and rolled my eyes. My first day was about to get worse.
