Chapter 41

IVY

I and Ronald were running in the hospital lobby like mad people.

“Frederick Anderson” ronald said to receptionist.

“Come sir” the Receptionist said worriedly and we started running after her.

“Excuse me, Please stay aside”

The guards was trying to handle people who were in our way to enter into the ICU.

“What is this crowd about?” Ronald asked a guard.

“Sir, they all want to know about Mr Frederick’s health. We are trying to calm them down but it isn’t working.”

Ronald nodded and called someone.

📞’” Hello Amos? You know about Fredrick?…. Alright send in a team” He hung up commanding Amos

He made a way from the crowd pitting his arms around my arms to prevent me from getting pushed.

People stepped back on their on as soon they saw Ronald.

He went to doctor while I stood on the door of the ICU and peeped through the glass h0le in the wooden door and burst into tears looking at his unconscious frame.

There were bruises all over his face.

His head was bandaged with his arm and legs.

I put my palm on my mouth to stop my whimpers.

“How is he now doctor?” Ronald’s voice brought my attention towards him and I walked to him.

“He is out of danger now but still unconscious. We can’t say anything untill he becomes conscious but there is a bad news..” The doctor sighed.

I and Ronald exchanged looks.

Micheal came running towards us and stood beside me.

“What is that doctor?” Micheal asked worriedly.

“He got serious injuries on his right arm and both legs. We are uncertain that he will be able to walk and move his hand.” The doctor said and I felt as if someone poured a wh0le drum of iced water on my head.

I stumbled back in shock but Ronald refrained me from falling by holding me from my shoulders.

“This can’t be true! NOOOO!!” I shouted putting my hands on my ears.

” Ivy, get a hold of yourself” Ronald said in a teary voice.

It was unbelievable for all of us to digest that the one who used to run won’t be able to take even a step.

“Be patient Mrs.Frederick. We are still hopeful that may be after two or three months he will recover. His injuries are not that deep that he will be paralyzed for rest of his life.” The doctor said calmly.

” Please doctor!! Do whatever you can!! Please make him stand on his feet.” I said crying while joining my palms in front of doctor.

“don’t worry. We will try our best and besides Frederick had done alot for this hospital. We won’t betray him.” The doctor patted my head.

“I will prescribe some medicines. Come with me” micheal nodded and went with doctor.

“Ron..Ronald” I burst into tears and he hugged me.

I was praying when I heard some disturbed voices and scre-ms from Fredrick’s room.

I ran towards the room and opened the door only to see ronald and Michael along with Aaron holding Frederick who was panicking badly.

“Tell me!! Why are my legs not moving??” He roared.

“Fredrick….don’t stress yourself. Its nothing!!” Ronald said in teary voice.

“No. You can’t fool me. Tell me am I paralyzed?” He said clenching Aaron’s shirt who averted his gaze hiding his tears.

“Won’t I be able to move my legs for the rest of life? Will I be dependent on others?” He clenched Michael’s arm who kept quite and let his tears flow.

“TELL ME! DAMN IT!!!” He roared taking his head in his palms.

A lone tear slipped down his cheek.

For the first time he was feeling this helpless.

Looking at their unbreakable stone shattering down the three of burst into tears and hugged Frederick tightly.

I witnessed all this hiding behind the door.

I know he won’t like my presence here and besides I didn’t want to disturb them so I kept on standing behind and shedding tears.

Two days passed in hurry with pain.

Frederick was shifted to the guest room which was in the corner of house in the ground floor due to his injuries.

I didn’t go in front of him since last three days.

I was looking and taking care of him from afar.

A nurse was sent from the hospital to stay with him 24/7.

It was a gloomy afternoon when I went to check on Frederick.

He was sleeping peacefully with a drip attached to his hand.

I saw strange restlessness on his face.

I went closer and saw as if he was trying to detach drip from his hand in sleep.

I took a closer look and understood that IV was injected in flesh instead of nerve.

I turned around and found the nurse talking on phone.

“Nurse!!” I called upon her but she didn’t turn.

I called her again twice but she got engrossed in the call after telling me to wait for two minutes.

I am not a medical student but I do hear that if IV fluids or medications are allowed to drip or infuse into the tissues of an arm or hand instead of the vein or bloodstream, it can cause nerve or muscle damage.

I saw pain signs increasing on his face.

I frowned at the nurse whose back was facing me and step ahead and taking God name, I pulled it out of his hand and quickly put cotton on his hand.

He opened his eyes eventually when pain vanished.

FREDRICK

I felt something w-t yet soft and saw the person I was yearning to see for the past three days buts till I averted my gaze.

This is me.

The Jerk Frederick.

Who knows what is going on in the world but not what is happening in my heart !

“Did they hire you for calling and gossiping or for taking care of the patient?” Ivy stomped towards the nurse and snatched her phone away.

“What happened??”
The nurse asked.

“What happened? You put his IV in the wrong way. Do you have any idea what will happen if I didn’t see this?” She roared in pain.

“I am sorry ma’am! I will be careful from next time!!” The nurse lowered her head when she saw my swollen hand.

IVY

“What do you mean from next time? Should I wait for a next time? No! Just get your stuff and leave. I can take care of my husband myself.” I said with gritted teeth.

Frederick snapped towards me as soon as those words left my mouth.

“I am sor….”

“Just leave!! I will call Dr. Timothy and will tell him that I sent you away myself. Don’t worry about your job but be careful next time.” I said sighing and the nurse left the room after thanking me.

I turned around only to find him staring at me.

I looked in his eyes trying to find any hate and detest but failed.

His eyes were all calm.

“So you finally showed up after three days? Shouldn’t bothered now too” He said angrily averting his gaze.

I smiled unknowingly at his statement and he glared at me.

I sat beside him quietly on the bed and started wiping little drop of blood from his hand.

He was about to pull his hand back when I held it tightly.

“Don’t even try” I said twitching my nose.

I put a small plaster on it and m-ssaged it slowly to get rid of the swolleness.

He was left with nothing but glares.

I was feeling his burning gaze over me but I kept on doing my job.

I looked at him and saw him sleeping.

I smiled and k-ssed at the small plaster and unintentionally two drops of my tears fell on his hand.

I put his hand at his side and went towards kitchen to make soup for him.

After making soup, I went to Ronald who told me the timings and quantity of the dozes.

“Ivy, Frederick is awake”

I was about to take first sip of my tea when Mother came running towards her.

Despite having deathly headache, I put the cup aside and ran towards the kitchen to heat up soup.

Tears slipped down from mother’s eyes looking at me.

She was happy with the determination and dedication she was seeing in my eyes towards her son, Frederick.

“I am happy Frederick married you.”

I smiled slightly at her as I took the tray and headed towards the guest room.

Fredrick was playing with his fingers when I entered .

A frown made it’s way to his face looking at me.

He was frowning but to me, He looked like a cute angry baby.

I smiled and sat beside him on the bed with the tray in my lap.

” Look what I have brought for you” I said pointing at the soup.

“So what?” He said casually.

“So what? You know that I don’t know how to cook but still I made it for you.” I frowned making faces.

“So what? I didn’t ask you” he rolled eyes.

I decided not to get bothered by his idiotic tantrums.

“Let me help you to sit” I put the tray aside and stood up to help him sit up but he yanked my hand away.

” Dont touch me”

This hit me hærd on my heart.

I stood there quitely watching him who was hissing in pain.

I closed my eyes sighing and when he couldn’t sit up on his own, I put my one hand behind his head and on his neck hugging him from a distance and made him sit straight.

Our eyes met and I breathed hærd on our proximity.

He averted his gaze and I pulled back arranging my hair.

“Open your mouth” I said taking spoon filled of soup near his mouth.

Instead of opening his mouth he turned his face.

“I don’t want, Especially when you made it. ”

“Are you sure?” I raised my eyebrow.

” Dont challenge me!” He glared at me.

“What if I do?” I said narrowing my eyes.

“I will not eat this. Do whatever you want” he said with gritted teeth.

“Check out this then” I smirked and he looked at me confused.

“MOTHHHEERR” I shouted on my lungs.

He opened his mouth to say something but I quickly put a spoon of soup in his opened mouth.

He glared at me while I winked at him.

“What happened Ivy?” Mother came running along with Aaron, micheal and Ronald.

“Mother look at this stubborn Jerk, I made this with much efforts and he is not drinking it.” I poured out innocently while Fredrick choke on the soup he had in his mouth.

FREDRICK

Such a devil she is….. I thought shaking my head.

“What am I hearing Frederick? When will you behave like a grown up? Can’t you see how sad she is and you are busy in showing your tanturms.” Mother pointed at Ivy who quickly wiped her imaginary tears.

I rolled my eyes.

“Let me feed you” mother started feeding me soup.

Her challenge is complete and she started jumping in excitement like a kangaroo.

I was damn busy in throwing dagggers at her that I didn’t hear mother calling upon me to open my mouth.

“Why are you looking at her like that? Let your attention be here!!” Mother said smacking my head.

Ronald and Michael burst into laughter giving HiFive to each other while Ivy tried to controlled her laugh.

I looked at all of them dumbstruck and then opened my mouth while cursing these idiots.
