ANDREA POV

“Urrrgh…….will you let me go,please”i said softly and he released me

I turned to walk off but he was walking beside me too.

Please, just go away, I thought as he kept on walking beside me

” Are you worried about what happened yesterday?” He asked

“What?”I said

“Well don’t think about it anymore, it’s just an impulse from my side, am sorry for being too forward”he said

Just an impulse! Just an impulse to you? That was my first k-ss, you jerk! I thought to myself

“It’s okay you don’t have to apologise”I said

“Now that we have talked about it, I hope we won’t be awkward with each other”he said

“We won’t”I replied

“Fine then, see you at class”he said as he walked off.

As soon as he left, I got so sad, that k-ss had meant something for me but to him it had only been an impulse.

I got to class only to be questioned by the Beatrice about the blind date

“I didn’t go”I replied

“But why?”Brenda asked

“I was busy with something”I said staring at Max

“Well it doesn’t matter, I will help set you up with another guy, you know I have a lot of single male friends”I said

“Why would a girl have a lot of single male friends and not have one for herself, just get one guy for yourself and let Andrea be”Jack said as he walked into class

“Look who’s talking, aren’t you single too and besides I already have someone and it’s a secret”Beatrice said

“Tell us who it is”Brenda and I said together

“It’s a secret and just as I was saying, I will help you with another date okay”she replied

I looked up and saw Max staring at me, he Shaked his head, wanting me to tell her no but instead I looked at Beatrice and told her a yes.

Jack noticed the little thing that just went on between us but he didn’t say or do anything.

“Are you a fool or what ? Why would you accept her invite to go on a blind date” Jack said

“What’s bad in going to a blind date” beatrice asked

“I believe in practicality, would it be so hærd to pick a guy from our class or the school itself” Jack asked

“Blind date is more better than choosing a guy from this school”Brenda said

“Why is that? Aren’t the guys of Jupiter high good enough?”Geoffrey asked as he heard our discussion

“No one was asking you, just go away”Beatrice said

“Hey guys listen up, These two girls are saying we the guys of Jupiter high aren’t good for the girls of Jupiter high, what do you have to say about that” Geoffrey said calling up the attention of everyone.

Soon everyone was talking each at a time making the class rowdy.

“Guys let’s just stop it okay, What Beatrice and Brenda was trying to say is that the guys of our school are good for the girls of our school”I said trying to calm the situation

“That’s a lie,they were saying something different”Geoffrey said

“And so what if we were! You all aren’t good for us”Beatrice said and once again the class became rowdy

” Well if you think so Andrea doesn’t, Tell us Andrea If you were to pick a guy in our class, who would you pick ?” Jack suddenly asked, making me the centre of attraction.

“Me? I don’t think my answer is that important” I said

“Yes!it is, these two are making us feel low, your answer will certainly make things right, Tell us who you will pick” Geoffrey said and the other students too urged me to speak

“Common Andrea they are all waiting”Jack said beside me

“Does it really matter if she picks some one,If the girls are saying they can’t ever date the guys of Jupiter high then we can’t date then too, it’s as simple as that”Max said making everyone look at him

“That’s true! Max is right, if you girls can’t date us, we also can’t date you”Geoffrey added as he went to Max while the other students agreed too

I sighed gently, I know that Max interfering was to save me from answering such questions.

“Max never seems to amaze me?”Beatrice said

“Why do you say that!”Brenda asked

“A ring he will be cold and distance and another he will approachable, Am still surprised by the way he dealt with those bullies who were about to take Andrea, he kind of look protective and am sure that if it had been someone else, he wouldn’t have done it” Beatrice said

“Stop making a fuss over him, I was there too and I did some punching bit”Jack said

“But you don’t have enough charisma like Max”Brenda said shutting Jack up

Just then the teacher walked in and class began.

“We are at the cafeteria, should we just order ahead of you?” Brenda sent me a text

“Order,I will be there soon”I texted back as I began to head to the cafeteria

“Hurry up, your best side dish is here “She texted again and I smiled

“I will be there soon”I texted, still heading for the cafeteria while my focus was on my phone.

I was still walking off when I collided into someone.

I would have fall if the person hadn’t held me by my wa-ist

I looked up only to see Jack staring at me ,angrily I pushed him away

“Why can’t you watch where you are going “I said

“What? You were the one focused on your phone, you should have watched where you are going “he said

“What ever, why aren’t you at the cafeteria?”I asked

“I came back to look for you, the girls wouldn’t stop pestering me to get you, so I came for you”he said patting my head

“Stop that”I said hitting his hand

“You are like a gentle puppy I always want to protect”

“Find someone else to protect”I said as I hit his hand off

Just then I saw Max some few paces away watching us.

Jack stopped ruffling my hair when he saw that my attention had been taken.

We both stood looking at Max while he looked at us too

“Ahhhh………so annoying,common let’s go Andrea”Jack said as he pulled me off

I looked back to see Max still staring at us.

We were about to get to the cafeteria when Rose came to us

“I want to talk to you Andrea”Rose said

“There goes another one,”Jack said.

“You don’t have to talk to her”he added staring at me

“But I do want to talk to her! “I said

“Andrea have you forgotten what she did ?”He asked

“Just go, I will talk to her myself”I said pushing him away

“I hope you know what you are doing”he said as he went into the cafeteria

“Sorry about that,what do you want to tell me”I asked

“Ever since I asked if I could be your friend,you have been more distant to me”She said

“Really I ……”

“It’s not that am complaining, I mean I just want to be friends with you, to be close to you, why is that so hærd to get”She said sadly

“Rose I…….”

“I just wanted to tell you this, I wanted to relive my mind” she said interrupting me again

“I will leave now?”She added as she began to walk off.

“You see I need you to help me get Max close to Rose”

I would have let her go but remembering what Max’s mother had asked of me, I called for her.

“Would you like to join us for lunch”I asked and she nodded gently

With Rose sitted with the rest, I went in search of Max.

The two of them should at least start from somewhere and if we all share lunch together it will certainly bring them close.

I don’t know why I decided to do this but am sure that I will regret it.

I found him at class as usual, he was busy with his some school work

“Hello “I said and he looked up to stare at me then back at his book

“Won’t you go out for lunch?”I asked

“I don’t eat lunch”he said

“That’s why you are so thin,come on, Max let’s go and eat lunch”I said

“I don’t want to”

“What if I tell you that I will do anything you ask of me, Is that a good deal to make with you?”I asked and he stared up at me

“It’s a deal,”he said and I smiled.

“But why do you insist on me going to eat lunch with you today”He asked

“I just don’t like seeing you thin”I replied

“So now you are worried about me?”he asked

“Why won’t I, you are the guy I………….”I stopped when I realised that I was about to tell him that he is the one I love

“The guy that what?”

“Who knows my secret and has also kept it a secret?” I said, giving him a smile.

“You are something”he said as he smiled at me

“Common Max, they are still waiting for us and am sure that they are hungry”I said as I pulled him by his hand

“How can you grab my hand like that! No one is allowed to do that”He said

“But I am allowed to, after all I am more close to you than anyone else”I said as I pulled him to the cafeteria.

There was Beatrice and Brenda sitting with Jack beside Rose.

If Max seats beside Rose they will certainly hit it off, I thought.

ANDREA POV

“I brought Max to eat with us”I said as they all stared at us

“That’s fine, just sit down and let’s start eating,am really hungry?”Brenda said

Quickly I pulled Max and made him sit down beside Rose

“Aren’t you going to sit?”he asked

“I will share with Beatrice and Brenda”I said as I sat down beside the girls

Soon we were all munching on our food, I stared at Rose and Max and saw that they looked good sitting together.

They were both rich, good looking and am sure that they will make the perfect couple, I thought sadly

Where would that leave you , you are always after other people’s happiness but you are never after yours, something in me said.

“Eat!”Jack hitting my plate with spoon brought me back to reality

“Of course I am eating,”I said as I took two to three bite.

“Are you two just here to gaze at your food, why don’t you eat?”Geoffrey who had joined us without our approval said to Max and Rose

“They are probably feeling too big to eat with us”Beatrice said staring at Rose

I hit her gently and said to the two of them “You guys should eat, lunch will be over soon”I said

“Maybe they are probably saving it for later,”Brenda added.

I look at Max and saw that his expression had changed, just what made him angry, I thought

“Or maybe they are back to dating each other, it wouldn’t be a surprise to me “Jack said

“What!!!! You two are dating ?”Geoffrey said

“No we are not”Rose said

“Of course you are, I should have known when I saw you two sitting together, this will certainly put the school in……………”Geoffrey couldn’t finish his word because Max pushed back his seat and got up

“Have just lost my appetite”he said staring at me and then he walked off.

“What was that? He looked so scary”Brenda said

“Are they not dating? Did I jump to conclusions?” Geoffrey asked.

Quickly I excused myself and went after Max.

He didn’t head back to class but instead he went to the field, heading for the school private room

I caught up with him when he got to the door, I pulled his hand only for him to pull free.

“You did that on purpose right?”he asked

“What ?”I asked a bit confused

“I should have guessed that they must be a reason why you asked me to go for lunch but I never guessed that it would be because of Rose”he said looking very angry

“Max I can explain!”I said

“Explain what? Don’t tell me that my mom sent you to do this ?”He asked and when I didn’t answer he hit the wall angrily

“Max!!!”i yelled and took his injured hand to stare at it

“So you did this because mom asked you to! I thought that for once have met someone who really understands me, who knows how I feel, who relates with me but it turned out that I was wrong”He said as he pulled his hand away

“You’ve really disappointed me today Andrea”He said as he walked off.

I stood there watching him go and I felt a piece of me going with him.

What have I just done! I thought sadly.

MAX POV

I took a deep breath before going back into class.

Ever since what Andrea did,I didn’t go back to class,Instead I went to the infirmary and stayed there until it closing period

I waited a while,hoping that when I got back to class, I won’t have to see her or anyone else but I was Wrong because the students were still there and Andrea too.

Pretending not to see her, I went to my bag and pack up my things and then I turned to leave only to see her behind me

“Max we have to talk”She said

“I don’t feel like Talking to you”I said as I walked past her

“Please Max, I don’t want you to still be angry with me”she said as she followed me to the hallway

I still didn’t answer her and I kept on walking off

“Max I…….oooooow!!!!” She said suddenly and I turned only to see her on the floor.

I was about to go to her when I heard Beatrice and Brenda calling her.

“Are you okay?”they both asked as they crouched beside her on the floor,she nodded and stared at me

“There you go again, you are being mean again”Beatrice said and just then Jack walked into the scene

He looked at Andrea and then at me,I looked away from him

“Since her friends are here, I will be going”I said

“Max wait…….”She called again

“We have nothing to talk about Andrea”I said and walked off.

All through the way home, I kept on thinking about my reaction.

Was I too hærd on her? Why shouldn’t I be, she is the one doing the things that my mom asks of her, how can she try to set me up with Rose, doesn’t she even feel something for me, I thought as I opened the car gate.

I was about driving in when Jack stood in my path

I honked thrice for him to leave but he wouldn’t move. Angrily I got out of the car.

“What’s this?”I asked

“You must be feeling happy right?”

“What are you talking about”

“After what you did to your brother you must be feeling happy ,you darn murderer”Jack said

“If you are going to rain insults at me, just leave”I said

“This is not insults,it’s the truth and we both know it, if only you just forgiven him, if only you had picked up my call,if only you had gone to him when I called you, he wouldn’t have died”he said

“He had called and when you didn’t pick,he called me and told me what his plans were, I tried to call you but you ignored my call just like you ignored his”

“Why are you suddenly bringing this issue up?”I asked , feeling hurt by his words.

“Am wondering why a murderer like you thinks he can be happy, most especially with a girl like Andrea”He said

“I don’t think she knows what kind of guy you are, am sure that if she does,She will certainly hate you”he added

“I know I have a part to be blamed for in Nick’s death because i told you where to find Rose lover but you played a huge part in it and that makes you his killer”

“When next you approach Andrea, I hope you remember that “He said and walked off.

ANDREA POV

I got back a bit late and that was Because I missed my bus.

I went straight to change into my house wear and then I went in search of Max.

This is all my fault and I have to apologise to him.

I went to his room with the excuse of giving him some refreshments but he wasn’t there.

I took a quick peek at his brother room and still the same thing

I looked all over the house and he was nowhere to be found.

I went back to the kitchen only to see my mom and the other maids cooking a lot of food

“What’s happening mom,why is there a lot of food?”I asked

“Well tomorrow is the young master death anniversary and we were asked to cook because there will be some guest here tomorrow” My mom said

Nick’s death anniversary is tomorrow, I know where Max will be.

Quickly I went to the garden and if he is not here, I will go to the graveyard,I thought as I turned to leave only for me to hear his voice.

I walked past a fruit tree and I saw him on the floor crying

Just seeing him sad made me sad too, I thought

“Max!”I called softly

He stopped crying and stared at me and then he looked away

“Go away Andrea”he said

“But I…….”

“Just go away !!!!”he yelled again

“Max”I called feeling reluctant to leave

“I said leave”he yelled for the very last time and I left the garden but I didn’t go far

I waited somewhere he wouldn’t see me so I could watch out for him and I was sure that when he stopped crying,he would want to talk to someone.

I stayed there for a long time and then he walked out, when he saw me he looked away and kept on going.

Quickly I went to him and hold his hand only for him to pull away again

“What part of leave me alone don’t you understand?”he asked

“I can’t possibly leave you alone, you are in pain and need someone to comfort you “I said

“And you think you can comfort me?”he asked mockingly

“Max,talk to me,I might be of help,after all we are close friends”I said

“Close friends! Do you think you and I are close friends?”he asked

“If we aren’t close friends then what are we?”i asked

“Don’t get me wrong here, you and I aren’t close,not even as friends”he said

“What are you saying Max?”I asked

“You and I aren’t close and I don’t consider you as a friend, the only thing I feel for you Is nothing but annoyance”

“You have been annoying me by being weak and a total loser, just so you wouldn’t be bullied you lied and each time you get caught, she get scared and hide, that alone made me sick, if I had kept your secret it was for the sake of your mother, I know that she wouldn’t have anywhere to go or any rich school to enrol you in”

“Max”I called feeling hurt by his words

“Get it into your head Andrea, to me you are nothing but annoying and a loser and so have had it with you, Let’s keep our distance from now on” He said and walked off.

I stood there still feeling hurt by what he said and as his words kept coming back to me, I found myself crying hærd.
