MAX POV
I woke up in the wee hours of the morning,only to see Andrea all cuddled around me.
If it had been someone, I would have pushed away because I hate cuddling. I didn’t allow it to happen with Rose but seeing Andrea around me made a difference a bit.
Could it be that’s it because I love her, I thought as I stared down at her
I found myself pushing back her hair to car-ss her face.
It felt so good,I wonder when I will have the right to hold her in my arms and call her mine
Maybe when I finally summon up the courage to tell her how I feel but I don’t think that will be happening soon.
Have never felt like this before, never been so nervous around a girl, have always believed in going after what I want but with Andrea, I find myself waiting.
I know that when the time comes,I will have her for a long time, so I should just be patient and wait for the right time.
She woke up with a start and yawned out so loud.
Seems like she has forgotten that I am around and that she is not alone.
Still yawning, she turned and when she saw my smiling face,she used her hand to cover her mouth.
“Don’t! You look cute”I said and that got me a punch from her
“I must have looked like an hungry dinosaur, you should have made me know that you were still here, I feel so embarrassed”She said
“Don’t! I mean it when I say that you look cute and besides we are friends, I will help you keep it a secret” I said and she stared at me giving me a smile.
She had said the same thing to me last night, and I am just returning it.
“I even got your clothe rough”She said as she tried to straighten my clothe
Just then a nurse walked towards us, giving us a smile
“Your mom is awake and she has been taken out of the (I C U) ” the nurse said
“Can I see her”Andrea asked
“Of course you can, if you will come with me”The nurse said and she went off with Andrea.
It took a while before she came back and as soon as she came to me, it was to give me a hug
“She is okay Max, she is okay”She said and I held her close, breathing in her fragrance.
“I’m glad”I replied softly.
“Just go to school l, I will be fine here “She said a while later
“But i don’t want to leave you here alone”I said
“I will be fine and besides I won’t be alone, there are a lot of people here, just go to school, remember I will need to get notes from you” she said finally persuading me
“Okay then, I will leave but promise me that you will take care if yourself”I asked
“I promise”She replied

I got to school feeling great, just knowing that Andrea didn’t get mad or blame me for Nick’s death made me feel happy.
Now that that is out of the way, I can now think of courting her.
I got to class and was swarmed by Beatrice and the other students wanting to know how Andrea mom is.
Knowing that Andrea has a lot of friends that support her made me feel happy.
I told them the news about her mom feeling well and soon the teacher arrived stopping them from asking more questions
Later at day break, I was busy working on some Math problems when Beatrice called me
“We are preparing some thing for Andrea, will you like to join in”She asked
“No”I replied and got back to my work
“What a jerk, to even think Andrea considers him a friend”I heard Beatrice say and I smiled to myself.
I don’t need to join in their surprise cause I have my own surprise in store.
I was heading to the cafeteria when I saw the summer vacation board.
Every summer the school takes us for a camping session.I always found it boring but due to Nick who always forced me to go, I had no option than to go but now I don’t have Nick to go with.
‘What about Andrea?’ something in me asked and I smiled to myself, though I don’t have Nick to go with me, it would be worth it if Andrea is there, I held this thought in mind for the rest of the day.
I got to the hospital late and it was all due to the math teacher who asked me to stay back, so I can help him with some script.
I was holding two tickets to the cinema when I saw Andrea with Beatrice and the rest.
They were all laughing at something Geoffrey had said but what I noticed and disliked most was the way Jack had his arm around her.
I walked towards them and wished I had the right to push off his hand from her but I didn’t and that will only be a matter of time.
“Oh Max you are here, we were just about to take Andrea out, You don’t mind staying at the hospital to update us right?”Beatrice asked
“I do mind”I said still staring at Jack arm around Andrea
“We took a wh0le lot of time to prepare this for her and we even asked you but you said you weren’t interested so you wouldn’t mind being a guard for us” Brenda added
“As have said,I do mind and I would also like to join you , as for someone to watch over Andrea mom,I will settle that right away”I said as I went to a nurse.
After a bit of negotiation, I went back to the group.
“Shall we?”I asked, giving them a smile and we all left the hospital.
As long as Jack is close to Andrea,I will always be around……..

“This is the best ride ever!!!!”Andrea yelled as she sat beside me on one of the rides.
This is the worst one ever,I thought as the thing kept spinning and spinning.
I always avoid the amusement park because of these terrible rides and now here I am going through one and it’s all because of a girl.
We all got down and I wanted to puke but I held it in
“Are you alright Max? You look a bit pale” Beatrice asked me when he saw my face
“Am fine, I just need a little rest”I said as I sat down on an empty seat
“Are you sure you are alright?”Andrea asked this time
“Yes I am”I replied hoping that my voice sounds a bit strong
“I know what’s wrong with Max?” Geoffrey said
“What?”they all asked in unison well except for jack, who kept on staring at Andrea every move
“He is scared of Heights, it happens to my little brother”Geoffrey said and they all burst out laughing making me feel more embarrassed
“You should have told us Max”Andrea said
“Am not scared of Heights and how dare you compare me to your brother?”I said to Geoffrey
“Don’t try to act macho in front of them,just admit it,you are scared of heights, the great Max is scared of heights”Geoffrey taunted and feeling so angry, I stood up wanting to punch his face but he ran off making me run after him.
A while later, we strolled around the park,while enjoying an ice cream each,a treat from Jack.
I should have thought of that before he did ,I thought
“Oh that’s beautiful”I heard Andrea say as she stared at a huge teddy bear
We all went to it and the man told us what we had to do to get it .
We just had to shoot straight into the h0le and the teddy will be ours.
“Now who will be Andrea hero and get it for her?”Beatrice asked staring at Jack and i
At the same time Jack and I picked up the gun and we began to shoot.
I shot through the h0le thrice and unfortunately for Jack,he shot somewhere else.
“Max wins round one”Geoffrey said to me softly and I gave him a murderous glare.
I smiled as I watched Andrea cuddling the bear, knowing that I got it for her made me happy.
“Everyone gather here”A man with a mic said attracting every one.
Andrea held my hand in hers and ran along with the rest towards the guy with mic
“We are giving out brand new phones to people that will participate in our competition”the man began
“Have always wanted a phone of my own”Andrea said staring at me
“All we need are two couple who will volunteer “The man said again
“Max,let’s go”She said
“What? I don’t do that sort of thing, if you need a phone I will get you one”I said
“I don’t want you getting me one, I want to have my own phone by my own means”she said
“But still………….”I couldn’t finish my word when Jack came to Andrea
“Let’s go”He said and before I could stop them, he had pulled her out with the others.
Feeling jealous I walked off ,I had to control my jealous mood.
“Round two goes to Jack” Geoffrey said behind me
“If you don’t want your face to be smacked, you better leave”I said
“How can I leave when I know you are having a problem of love”He said
“What are you saying?”I asked
“You like Andrea right? Don’t try to deny it, I can see it written all over your face”He said.

MAX POV
“Don’t you dare deny it, I can see that you like her “He said and having no choice I had to confess.
“Is it that obvious?” I asked
“Of course it is but thank God that only I noticed” Geoffrey said
“Don’t tell anyone, I haven’t told Andrea yet and I don’t want her to feel pressured by me or my feelings” I said
“That’s where you are wrong my dear friend, you should go after her now, as I see it Jack is also going after her and if you are not quick enough, he might just take her from you”
“And how do you know that Jack is interested in her”I asked
“Because I can see it, I can’t believe that the two great studs of Jupiter high fell for the same girl “He said
“As I have said I don’t want to put pressure on Andrea but I also don’t want to lose her, can you tell me what I should do not to lose her? “I asked
“Is the almighty Max asking for my help?” Geoffrey asked.
“Don’t joke with me! “I warned and he gave me a smile
“Of course I will help you, you might be smart when it comes to books and numbers but you are totally clueless when it comes to getting a girl, you can count on your best pal to help you”He said, giving me a grin.
ANDREA POV
“Now that we have all of our couple together, the game should begin” the announcer said
“For the first phase, you are to lift your partners for a wh0le twenty minutes ”
I stared at Jack and he lifted me up in his arms
“You should have just let me get on your back” I said.
“And let you think that am not strong?” he replied and I smiled in return
I would have like it if I was doing this with Max but he had refused and Jack had offered his help and I wanted to have my own phone.
So I have no choice than to do it with Max, I thought as I held onto Jack.
A lot of people were already losing but Jack stood still holding me in his arms.
“Give it up for the two couples that are left” The announcer said to the crowd
“Now on the second phase, with the way you were holding your partner before,you will raise a leg up” he said
“Will you be able to do that” I asked Jack worriedly,
“There is nothing I can’t do” he said as he lifted me in his arms again and raised a leg up,
“This is for the phone you want So much” He said giving me a smile and I gave him a smile in return.
“You can do this! You can do this! You can do this” I muttered to Jack softly,
When the twenty minutes was over we won and got to the final round.
,”Now this part will be more tough, this is the riddle part” He said
“One of the couple will think of a sentence and try to tell it to their partner so they can say it out”
“The couple who gets it right? Gets to have the phone”He said
“Apart from math do you lack in other things?”Jack asked and i punched him
“Am a master when it comes to solving riddles”I replied and his answer was to ruffle my hair.
The first couple did theirs and fail woefully, now it was our turn
Jack told the announcer the name of the riddle that he was going to ask me and then he stood in front of me and started giving me signs with his hands.
It was kind of hærd and at my first two attempt I failed what he was trying to show me but on the third one I got it
“Oh I know !I know ! You are trying to say that you love me “I said even before I realised what I just said
“Correct!” the announcer said and every one who witnessed the show began to clap to for us.
“Ahhhhh…….it’s so good to see the love between two young couples, never ever break apart” the announcer said and it got kind of awkward between Jack and I.
We came out Pretending to be a couple and we must keep up with the act.
The phone was given to me and then he gave us two set of box each
“With just what have seen today, I can tell that true love last” he said.
“This is a token from me personally” he added as he gave us the ring,
Together we went back to Beatrice and Brenda who were waiting for us
I didn’t see Geoffrey or Max which was quite odd,
“Wow this is the latest, I have asked my parents to get it for me but they keep on telling me that I have to improve with my work”Beatrice said.
“But something keeps bothering me ,you are rich and can get a phone by yourself,why do you result to this?” Brenda asked
“I……well I ……..”
“Oh isn’t that the merry go round, I thought you said you want to ride it ,Why don’t we all go there ” Jack said distracting them.
“Yes, let’s go” Brenda said as she pulled my hand and we ran off.
MAX POV
“What am trying to say is that you should fight for her before it’s too late, you will have to fight for her before it’s too late” Geoffrey said
“Andrea doesn’t like Jack”I said
“She might not like him but she might meet someone else for instance someone like me”Geoffrey said and I pulled him roughly by the arm
“You better not go near her”I warned
“Fine,I won’t,I was just joking,I mean it”He said when I wasn’t letting go of him
“Am just trying to help you, if you keep on with this then am sure that Jack will take her from you,just look over there”Geoffrey said pointing at the merry go round
I saw Andrea on the ride waving at Jack who was watching her
“That is the look of someone who is In Love”Geoffrey said as we both stared at Jack who kept waving at Andrea
“What can I do to get the girl I love”I asked
“That’s a great question, to get the girl you love, you will have to confess to her first ,then we can hit off from there”Geoffrey advice me.
“I just have to confess right?” I asked and he nodded
“Fine then, I will do it “I said feeling a bit nervous.
This is unlike me, I have never felt this way before, when it comes to wooing women I have always been on top but when it comes to Andrea I get scared and nervous, just what is this? I thought as we got to them.
“Where were the two of you? Jack and Andrea won the competition and she got the phone”Beatrice said
“Isn’t it good?”Andrea asked as she showed me the phone.
“I have to talk to you Andrea! Alone” I added for the benefit of the others
“What do you have to talk about with her that we can’t know?”Jack asked
“Something that has to do with us”I replied giving him an angry glare.
“Let’s just continue with our tour, Max has to tell her something important and we must not interrupt,Let’s just go”Geoffrey said as he pushed us off
As soon as I saw an empty seat in the park, I pulled her there
“What do you have to tell me?”She asked and I felt more nervous
“I……I…….I just……'”
“Max what do you want to say? You are getting me scared!”she asked
“I just…….I want to know If you will be going to the school trip”I found myself asking, have really blow this up big time,I thought
“I won’t be going?”She replied
“Why?”I asked
“You must have forgotten that am not rich like you,the school trip is a luxury that i can’t afford and besides I have to take care of mom”she replied
“But you can’t just give up going for that reason, we can get someone to take care of your mom and we can pay for the trip ………”
“Your friendsh¡p I can accept, your protection I can accept but your money I won’t , I don’t want your money and I won’t have you spend it on me”She said
“But I want you to go on the trip”I said
“I can’t go because I don’t have the money and also I have to stay with mom”
“Andrea……”
“Let’s not argue about this,I am not going and that’s that” she said and walked off to join the others.
Unknown to us Jack was eavesdropping on our conversation.
