Chapter 06
Alice woke up and didn’t find her husband on the bed. She yawned lightly as she remembered what transpired last night.

After her husband had left the kitchen angrily, she dished the food and called them -Mrs Sophia and Samuel to eat. She knew Samuel wouldn’t reject her food unless she has done something that pained him greatly.

So, she still had hope that he’d forgive her for not allowing him to run any test on them. They both really tried to cover up their argument so that Mrs Sophia wouldn’t get to know.

Mrs Sophia hærdly caught them fighting and has never ended any fight between them. That’s how loving they are to one another.

When they retired to bed last night, her husband had apologized for yelling at her and she in turn apologized as well. He gave her a heartwarming k-ss on her l-ips before they slept off in each other’s arm.

The sound of the door opening jerked her up from her thought.

“Good morning princess.” Samuel said smiling. He was holding a tray containing some sliced bread and a cup of hot steaming tea.

He walked to the little center table in the room and placed the tray on it before walking closer to Alice.

“Good morning my darling.” She responded happily.

He k-ssed her forehead.

“How was your night?” He asked.

“Best night darling. Thanks for last night. i’m sorry and I love you.” She said looking at Samuel in the eyes.

“Babe…it has gone. Yesterday has gone already. Let’s focus on today.” He said slipping his hand around her wa-ist.

She nodded k-ssing his l-ips lightly.

“Come for breakfast.” He said and carried her to the couch.
There are just two couches in the room surrounding the little center table and facing the plasma TV on the wall.

“Thank you honey. I just can’t thank you enough for the love you kept showering on me. I love you with everything in me.” She said as she k-ssed him passionately.

He held her wa-ist as he k-ssed her back affectionately. They k-ssed for sometimes before he broke it with smile.

“Take your breakfast already.” Samuel said.

“What about you?”

“I’m fine. This is for you alone.” He answered.

“No, eat with me.” She insisted.

“No. I will just watch you eat.” He said stroking her hair.

“Alright then. Thanks for this.” she started eating.

Philip came downstairs dressed in a grey colored shirt over a black trousers.

He saw his family already in the dining eating.

“Brother…your food is here.” Joy said.

He nodded and walked to the dining. Joy drew out a chair for him beside her and he sat down without saying a word.

He took a fork and started digging in to the food. – yam and sauce.

He ate slowly avoiding his mum’s gaze. ‘Cause he could feel she’s staring at him.

He didn’t finished eating when be rose to his feet and thanked them for the meal.

“Where are you going?” His father asked.

“My house.” he replied.

He has his own house which he built himself.

“Brother, please can I come with you?” Joy asked.

“No. You’re too talkative.” He said Leaving already.

“I promise not to talk.*” she whined.

“Not allowed. The last time you promised me not to talk if I took you along, you ended up chasing me out of the house with your talks.” He said while others chuckled.

“Please I will keep to my promise this time around.” She pleaded.

“Nope.” He said popping the ‘P’

“What about me?” Peter asked but he has gone.

“He will never take you along. Trouble maker.” She pouted.

“See who’s talking. Geez!” Peter said chuckling and sticking his tongue out to her secretly

“Ohh mum! When is peter leaving the house for school?” She asked almost shouting.

“Next week teddy bear.”

“I can’t wait so I can finally be at peace.” Joy said.

“Same here my little sister.”

“I’m not a little girl.” She snapped.

“Where are your manners?” Pastor Walter asked and the table went silent like a graveyard.
Only the sound of cutleries were heard.

Philip got to his house not really a house but a mansion.
He had called Thomas to meet him there to discuss more about the matter at hand.

He walked into the living room. It was shining and smelled good. The cleaners are really doing their works perfectly.

Although, he didn’t leave there only come here to clear his head or to have fun With Thomas. He employed workers – cleaners, security, gardeners and cooks too.

He sat down waiting for the big head.

“Welcome boss. What should I bring for you?” Berry, his head of the cook asked.

“Prepare anything delicious. Thomas is coming too.” He said taking out his phone from his pocket.

“Alright sir.” She bowed and left.

“Master, your friend is here.” One of his security said.

“Let him in of course. Must you ask every time?”

“Sorry sir.* he bowed and left.

Soon, Thomas walked in.

“Welcome” they exchanged pleasantries.

“Let’s go upstairs.”

“Sure.”

They walked to the living room upstairs and sat down.

“Tell me more about this plan? How’s it gonna work out for the girl to be mine?” He asked impatiently.

“Here is how we’d go about it…” He started while Philip listened attentively.

Cindy phone rang as she was pushing the shopping cart with her parents behind. She checked the caller and it was Ellen.

Her best friend, Ellen owns Unique Hotels & Suites; Unique Restaurant; Unique Boutique and lots more.

She picked it happily, it’s been long she saw her last.

The call ended.

“That was Ellen.” Mrs Veronica said.

“Mum…how did you know?” Cindy chuckled.

“I knew how you talk to her.” Mrs Veronica said.

“Pick this and stop talking already!” Lawyer James said pointing to a non- alcoholic wine.

“Yay! Our Best wine.” Cindy giggled.

“Except me.” Mrs Veronica said rolling her eyes cutely and looked at the other side where perfumes were arranged.

Cindy and Lawyer James laughed heartily as they moved closer to her.

After Alice has finished eating. Samuel carried her to the bathroom where they had their bath together.

She prepared breakfast before Samuel took her out not after she dressed beautifully in a red glittering gown.

“Bye..mother.” She waved.

“sweet mother. Take care.” Samuel pecked her before they went out.

He was driving when Alice phone rang. Her husband chuckled while she gasped after checking the caller.

“You hærdly got calls on your phone except I called or mother do. Tell me, have been keeping friends?” He asked amused ’cause he knew Alice don’t have any friends except Clara and she lived in Paris.

“Huh…no…yes.” She smiled nervously.

Samuel arched his brows.

“When did started giving two answers? You keep amazing me.” He said still smiling.

“Ahh….it happens.” She said.

“Pick it already….this is the second time.” He said.

“Yes, I should.”

She picked it.

📞oh sorry. You called the wrong number. This isn’t Janet.

📲are kind of mad? Who are you acting for? I need you to be….

📞no…don’t be sorry. Just check the number you dialed again.

She breathed out as the call ended and she switched off her phone.

“the person called a wrong number.” She said nervously but she hid it.

Samuel smiled..

“It happens sometimes.” He said taking a look at her.

“Yeah.” She said feeling guilty all over her heart.

‘I’m sorry Sam. But you can’t know the truth now. I don’t pray for you to know either. Life is not always fair anyways.’ She thought in his mind.

“Babe…why ain’t you answering me?” He asked staring at her.

“Huh? Do you say anything? Sorry I’m lost in thoughts.” She apologized.

“Don’t be lost in thought whenever you’re with me.”

“Well, I was thinking about you.” She smiled.

“Really? Tell me about it.” He said smiling too.

“I’m thinking that my husband is a cute handsome looking guy with satisfactory behaviors. Loving, caring and good in bed.” She said.

He laughed.

“Why laughing? I’m saying the damn truth.” She said.

“The last one got me laughing. Am I really good in bed?” He asked.

“You are best in bed my love. Good is even an understatement.” She said.

“Wow! Didn’t know my wife has this naughty side.” He said.

“Everyone does including you.” She said k-ssing him on his cheek.

“I’m driving babe. Don’t wake me up.” He said

“And what if I do? Can’t I have you in the car? It’s ours after all.” She laughed.

“Don’t be naughty wifey. That’s gross.” Samuel said and k-ssed her briefly.

“Don’t get us killed. Drive properly.” She said.

He Laughed.

“Babe…let’s go to Unique…” He didn’t finished talking when Alice shouted.

“No. We are not going to any silly Unique hotel or anything. It’s better we go home.” She snapped angrily.

“Why?” He asked surprised.

“Nothing.” She said looking away.

“It’s not Unique hotel but Unique Restaurant. They are different buildings but a person owned both.” He said calmly overlooking her behavior.

“You can go alone. Take me back home now! I’m going nowhere anymore.” She said.

“Alice…you are talking to me!” Samuel said.

“I Don’t Care. I’m not going to any Unique hotel or anything.” She snapped.

“Is there more to this ? You kept mentioning Unique hotel whereas it’s Unique restaurant I’m asking us to go.”

She gave him no response.

“Okay. I understand.” He Said and took a U-turn back home.

The drive home was silent as they don’t say a word to each other.
