Mitchell’s POV
*One month later*
It’s been one month since the incident between Kevin and I. Chris wanted to take up the issue and report it to the police so Kevin can be punished but I told him to leave it.
We just found out about a week ago that Kevin and Kathryn are siblings and that’s why Kathryn hasn’t been coming to the agency.
What’s worse is that Kevin once forcefully got intimate with Kathryn and he was also the one that uploaded her nude pictures online back then.
He never knew Kathryn would turn out to be his sister and I’m sure he regrets his action now. I heard his sister means the world to him.
Kathryn will never be able to forgive him and that’s enough punishment for both of them for what they did to Chris and I. It’s a good thing I asked Chris to let Kevin be.
I’ve completed the two companies that I’m to build and I’m beginning to make lots of profit already. That investor is definitely an angel in disguise.
I don’t understand why someone will be willing to invest so much in my company from the scratch without requesting anything in return.
The most puzzling part of it is that I don’t even know who he is. I only heard that he recently took over the business and hasn’t revealed his face yet.
While getting ready for work that morning, I hummed a song until I was done. Chris already left, saying he had something urgent to take care of so I was the only one remaining.
As I was about descending the stairs, I heard voices from grandma’s room. I wanted to ignore it at first but I couldn’t after I heard my name.
“You don’t have to worry about Mitchell grandma. Although we don’t know where exactly her company is and how far she has gone in building it, we are sure that she can never fulfill the three tasks.
How can someone who just started building her company about two and a half months ago, try to compete with people that have started running their company a year ago? It’s totally impossible and doesn’t make any sense” John said
“Even though we started our company a year ago, we can’t make that much profit by the end of this month, talk more of Mitchell who just started” Hazel added
“All you guys have to do is make sure your profits are exactly the same amount so you can share the property equally. There’s no way I’m giving the company to Williams’ daughter” Grandma said
I clenched my fist hærd as I stared at the door angrily. Their laughter echoed in my ear and it took everything in me not to push the door open.
I know they hate me and my parents but this is way too much. How can they be so cruel up to this extent? They want me to compete with people that have started running their business since about a year ago?
I’m not supposed to pass the task like they said but unfortunately for them, God sent an angel in disguise and I’m going to work hærd and prove everyone of them wrong. I will be sure to put them in their rightful places.
The reason why they hate my Dad doesn’t even make any sense. He’s the last son and child of my grandparents but he always does well and surpasses his siblings and that’s why they hate him.
They decided to pass their hatred unto me but I’ve had enough of them. It’s not like I need their company or anything but I just want them to know that my parents and I are not people to be taken lightly.
I wiped the tears that rolled down my cheeks and finally descended the stairs. There’s no reason to cry over people like them because they’re not worth it.
*Lunch time*
As I headed to the nearest restaurant, Chris call came in and I plugged in my earphone.
“How are you doing? How was training?” he asked
“It was fine! How is work too?” I asked back
“It’s fine. You’re about to eat lunch already?” he asked
“Yes, I’m on my way”
“Are you okay? You sound a bit down, did something happen?” he asked worriedly
I guess I’m still hurt by the fact that my grandparents did something like that to me, I’ve not really been myself since this morning.
“Nothing happened, I’m fine” I lied
“I don’t think you’re fine. Something happened right? You don’t want me to know about it?” he asked
“Fine! I overheard my cousins and grandmother’s discussion this morning. It turns out that my cousins have started running their company a year ago while I just started two months ago. My grandma is on their side and wants them to take over the company” I explained
“You’re joking right?” he scoffed
“Why do you think I would make something like that up? I clearly heard it with my ears this morning” I said
“What? How can your grandmother do something like that? Are you okay?” he asked
“I’m fine, I was just a bit down” I protested
“No, you’re not okay. Just go home and rest okay? Please” he begged
“Chris, I’m really fine. You don’t need to worry about me” I assured
“Do you want me to come over then? It’s either I come over or you go home, which one are you picking?” he asked
Since he hasn’t given up now, it means I have to pick one. I don’t know why he’s treating me like a kid.
“I’ll go home” I mumbled
“Good! That’s my baby. Go home and make sure you get enough rest” he instructed
“Yes daddy” I teased
“I have to go now. Talk to you later” he blew me a k!$s and ended the call
Once I’m done with lunch now, I have to go home instead of the company. Chris is really something else, I guess he’s just worried about me though.
Kevin’s POV
I’ve been sitting outside Kathryn’s mansion since about three days ago. I dismissed my men and refused to eat or drink anything.
Kathryn on the other hand didn’t let me in and she hasn’t been out either. At this rate, I think I’m going to loose consciousness but I can’t give up.
Kathryn is my dearest sister whom I thought I’ve lost for good. Now that I’ve found her, I can’t let her go. I know I’ve committed a grave sin against her but I’m willing to do anything to atone for my sins.
She can punish me all she wants and treat me however she wants, I don’t care. All I want is her forgiveness and my little sister back.
I sold my cartel to someone else and donated the money to a charity organization.
Even if I have to give up all my wealth to have her back, I will do it. I regret my actions and I feel like killing myself. I really am a monster.
The gate opened and I quickly stood up with the little strength I had left in me. Fortunately, it was Kathryn that came out. She was in her car which means she was about to go somewhere.
When she saw me, her eyes w¡dened in surprise and I saw her l-ips parted in shock. I understand why she’s like that.
I’ve not bathed for three days and I’ve been crying nonstop so it makes sense that she’s staring at me strangely.
“Kathryn” I called softly
“What are you doing here?” she asked irritably
“I’ve been waiting for you to come out at least. Won’t you ever forgive me? I know I’ve hurt your feelings but now I’ve realized my mistake and I want you back. I know it won’t be easy but try to find a place in your heart to forgive me because you’re the only family I have left” I pleaded
“I’m the only family you have left?” she scoffed
“What about your mom? You abandoned the poor woman while you’re here living in luxury and you want my forgiveness? How can you do that to our mom?” she asked
“I did that because she’s the reason we got separated. If we hadn’t been separated, then what happened wouldn’t have happened between us and I might not have been a playboy, so I can say she caused all this. How can you expect me to forgive her then?” I asked back
“You can’t forgive her and you want me to forgive you? Well, I also can’t forgive you and even if you forgive her, it doesn’t mean I’ll do the same to you. It would be better to be an orphan and a pauper than to have a brother like you” she concluded and left
It would be better to be an orphan? How can she say those hurtful words to me? I know I was wrong and I admit my mistake but isn’t she going overboard? For how long will she continue this way?
But at least, she said something today so I guess I can return home to take my bath now and eat something.
Chris POV
*Two weeks later*
The result of the task given to Mitchell and her siblings will be presented by the end of the week and I can’t wait.
Once the task has been judged, I’m going to tell Mitchell everything and apologize to her. Hopefully, she would understand why I did it and not make a big deal out of it.
Although, she asked me to leave Kevin alone and I listened to her. Afterall, he’s not in a good condition right now.
Ronald on the other hand isn’t someone I can leave alone. He was the one that kidnapped Mitchell from the start and Kevin went to save Mitchell from him.
Mitchell didn’t tell me about it at first but the moment I found out, I digged out his dirty deeds and filed so many cases against him. In his next life, he will know whom and whom not to cross paths with.
“Chris” Mitchell called after I got into bed with her
It was night already and we were about sleeping
“Yes?” I mumbled a reply
“Do you really think I can win in two days time? I really put in my best and that guy is like an angel in disguise. He helped me so much and it would be disappointing to fail” she said
“I understand that you’re nervous but I believe in you and I want you to believe in yourself too”
“I will try to believe in myself like you said but I don’t know if I stand a chance of winning against people that started a year ago. We’re talking about 3 months against a year, is it really possible?” she asks again
“Do you trust me?” I asked instead
“I trust you” she answered
“Then trust me on this. When I say you will come first, just believe me” I said reassuringly
*Two days later*
The D-Day came faster than usual and right now, every member of the family is currently in the sitting room.
Mitchell is holding onto my hands tight while I’m smiling calmly at her. I don’t know why she’s so nervous because I’m not even a bit anxious and I guess it’s probably because I wasn’t the one the task was given to.
“So who can remind me of the three tasks that was given to you?” Mitchell’s grandmother asked the three children
“We are to build two companies, make a rank among the top twenty companies in America and make a profit of approximately $100000” Hazel said with a smirk
“That’s correct! So who among you was able to complete his or her own tasks?” Grandma asked
“There’s no even need for that. The first and last one are quite easy but the second one is going to be a bit difficult so if you can pass the other two stages and meet the exact requirement, you’ll automatically become the heir or heiress. The person with the highest profit wins and it must be two companies” she added
“So….. Who are we starting with? Since we have only one male here, starting with him won’t be a bad idea. John Campbell, step forward with your ledgers” Grandma said and I heaved a sigh of relief
She’s going to start with John and Hazel so Mitchell and I will know our fate by then but I have a feeling that Mitchell is going to become the heiress. How great will it be for a heir and heiress to be together? We will conquer the world together and make so many histories.
