Melanie’s pov 🧚

Gabby’s apartment…

“Darling, are you sure you’re not coming home with me?” Lucifer asked me.

I stuffed the remaining slice of apple in my mouth and shook my head in disagreement, which made him frown slightly.

I reached forward and straightened the frown lines on his forehead, flashed him a smile.

“I wanna spend some time with Gabby” I told him.

He twisted his mouth sulkily, wrapped his arms around my wa-ist and pulled me flushed against him.

“The mansion has been so quiet and cold without you, please come with me, I’ve missed you” he said.

I shook my head again.

“I’ll come later, I wanna spend a few hours with Gabby, we’ve got a lot of catching up to do”

Which is partly true, but the main reason was because I’ll be leaving soon… so I wanna spend as much time as I can… I don’t want her to miss me too much when I’m gone.

“You have a lot of time to catch up later, just come home with me first”

I laughed… he’s behaving like a baby right now.

“You’re being clingy right now, you know that right?”

“Of course I’ll be clingy, you’re always putting me on a hot seat” he said.

“Awwn!” I k-ssed his l-ips lightly. “I won’t spend too much time here, just a few hours and I’ll come back home”

“Promise?”

“Yeah, promise”

He broke into a smile, he hugged me tighter, resting his head on my chest…we stayed like that for a while, before he delved in for a k-ss.

We shared a short k-ss, he wanted to deepen the k-ss and of course, I wanted him to, but since we’re not the only ones here…I broke the k-ss.

He pouted his l-ips and frowned in disappointment, I flicked his nose and chuckled.

“Quit being a crying boy and go home, cook something nice awaiting my arrival” I told him.

He sighed and nodded.

“Alright, darling, just give me a call when you’re done catching up…”

He put emphasis on the term *catching up* and glared at Gabby playfully, but quickly turned back to me.

He’s jealous of Gabby, what a jealous freak he is!

“… I’ll come pick you up”

“Hm” I hummed.

He placed a lingering k-ss on my right cheek, then pulled away from our hug.

“Caldwell, let’s go” he said.

We faced Caldwell, only to find Gabby glaring daggers at him, but he’s busy smiling like a fool.

Why is she glaring at him so much? Wasn’t she crushing on him? Or did Caldwell did something that riled her up?

“Caldwell?” Lucifer called him.

“Yes, sir” he answered and tore his gaze away from Gabby.

He cleared his throat and his smile faded, when he realized Lucifer’s giving him a questioning look.

“Can we go home now?” Lucifer asked him.

“Yes, yes, sir” he answered.

Lucifer nodded, he smiled at me and gave me a look that says.. don’t forget to give me a call when you’re done.

I nodded and winked at him, which made him blushed.. his ears and neck turned red… it’s a surprise though, I haven’t seen him blush before.

“Caldwell, let’s go” he said and walked towards his car.

Caldwell sent Gabby a quick wink and rushed after Lucifer.
Gabby and I stood there until they drove off, before we went back in,side.

I continued staring at Gabby quizzically, wondering what’s going on with her.. why she’s being indifferent with Caldwell.

She stopped playing her subway, dropped her phone on her laps, folded her arms on her chest and stared back at me.

“May I know why you’re staring at me?” she asked.

I didn’t reply her, I continued staring at her. She sighed.

“If you have something to say, then say it and quit staring at me like a maniac!” she snapped at me.

Not in a rude or angry manner though.

“Did something happened this past month that I was in isolation?” I asked.

“Nope” she answered.

“Really? Then… why do I feel like there’s some kind of misunderstanding between you and Caldwell?”

She simply shrugged her shoulders, she picked up her phone and resumed playing her game.

“There’s something you aren’t telling me… ” I trailed off.

I leaned back on the sofa, studied her and tried to figure out what’s going on with her.

“… he’s your crush, right?”

“Not anymore” she answered, with her head bent over as she focused on her game.

“Not anymore?” I asked rhetorically.

A frown appeared on my face as I realized something, I lifted my body slightly off the sofa and leaned closer to her.

“Is it because he’s a demon?”

She tensed at my question, she dropped her phone and shut her eyes.

“Is it?” I asked again.

“Yeah” she answered in a sad tone.

I chuckled lightly.

“Forget about him being a demon, Caldwell isn’t a bad guy.. he’s very gentle and he doesn’t look exactly like the demons written in stories.. or the ones in my memory… Just think of him as a normal guy” I said.

“Easier said than done, let me ask you.. can you ever get over the fact that Mr Bright is the actual devil?”

Her question silent me, I don’t know how to answer her. Yeah, I can’t deny that I don’t love him, but the fact remains he’s the devil.

“You can’t get over that fact, right.. same thing with me, we’re both never met to be together. It’s best I quit whatever feelings I have for him now” she said.

I nodded in understanding.

“You’re right, now that it’s not too late. After all, Caldwell isn’t gonna be here forever, he’s gone leave someday”

He’s gonna leave when Lucifer goes back to his realm, his heavenly realm or hellish realm.. is that even a word?

“So.. are you scared?” I asked.

“Scared?”

“Yeah, now that you know who they are.. are you scared of them?”

She laughed.

“Emm.. I won’t say I’m not or wasn’t scared, I was d*mn scared at first.. but Lucifer helped me get over it” she said.

“He helped you? How?”I asked curiously.

I can only imagine the look on Lucifer’s face, when he realized Gabby’s scared of him.

Gabriella’s pov 🧚

#_flash_back three weeks ago…

“Lanie, please open the door, you can’t continue staying behind closed doors.. you’re gonna suffer from depression” I said.

I’m currently standing outside Lanie’s room, with a tray of food in my hands.

She’s stayed in,side her room for a week now, without eating any food.. though I always hear her sneaking around at night, to get something to eat.

“You gotta share your worries with me, I’m your best friend, I can help you get through this” I said.

But as usual, there wasn’t any response, it’s as if I’m talking to a statue.

I sighed and left, I headed towards the dinning area.

I dropped the food on the dinning table and held my head in my hands…how did everything turned into this? How did we managed to get ourselves in this mess? How did we became the devil’s acquaintance?

Just then, I heard a knock on the door and I tensed, fear gripped me instantly and I swear, I could pee myself right now.

I don’t need anyone to tell me, or checked the door to know who’s knocking…I already know who it is.

*I’m not gonna open the door, he’s gonna go back if I don’t open it* I thought.

But… Boom!

He’s sitting on the chair in front of me, my eyes grew wide and I wanted to release a scre-m.. but in a snap he’s standing very close to me, with his hand covering my mouth.

“Gabby, calm down, I’m not here to hurt you” he said.

But fear got the best of me, I shook my head and struggled to get away from him.. which was impossible.

“I can make you go mute and listen to me, but I don’t wanna do it, I don’t wanna use magic on you.. just listen to me, ok?”

He stared at me with pleading eyes, I blinked when I saw fear flashed in his own eyes.. I frowned.

The devil’s scared? What’s he scared of?

“I just wanna talk to you, I’m not gonna hurt.. I would never hurt the innocent” he said.

My conscience wanted me to trust him, but my mind was still clouded by fear.

“I won’t hurt you, if I do my darling would never forgive.. trust her if you don’t trust me”

He sounded and looked sincere when he was saying it, so I nodded and he slowly removed his hand from my mouth.

I shifted on my chair and gave him a cautious look, I cleared my throat.

“Wh-what do you want?” I asked, trying to make my voice confident, but I still stutter.

“I just wanted you to let me in, I wanna be around her.. I won’t feel assured she’s ok if I don’t come around”

His voice was broken.

“I.. I.. I just want to stay around her, even if I don’t get to see her” he said.

He’s really sad, right now he doesn’t look like a fierce devil.. he’s just like a heartbroken teenage boy.
I sighed.

“Alright”

Melanie’s pov 🧚

“Seeing his vulnerable condition, I had to agree.. though I’m still a little scared, I’m thinking any mistake from me would be the end of my life” she concluded.

I burst into laughter, Gabby can be so strong-headed on normal basis.. but he’s a scaredy cat in front of Lucifer.

Well, I don’t blame her too much, I’d be scared if I was in her shoes too… we’re talking about the devil, the real devil!

“Also, he helped you a lot during your isolation”

“How?” I asked and stopped laughing.

“He changed Carling’ look, he made her look like you and she went on our trip for you.. so you won’t get an F”

My eyes grew wide in disbelief, I didn’t expect that.

“He did that?”

“Yeah, I was surprised but then again, he’s the devil.. that’s not so hærd for him”

My l-ips curved up in a smile, he’s such a nice guy and he’d make a sweet boyfriend if he wasn’t the devil.. but sadly he is and we won’t spend much time together.

“I should give Lucifer a call, I need him to come pick me up.. I need to thank him” I said.

“Yeah, you should” Gabby replied, then went back to playing her game.

Narrator’s pov 🧚

An abandoned warehouse…

HE laughed as he stared at the leaf in his palm, he nodded.

“Sir, I don’t think we should involve his mate, she’s innocent and knows nothing about us”

HE shook his head, he dropped the leaf on a plate made out of jade.

“We can’t have him in our control if we don’t involve her” his eyes were still focused on the leaf. “He would only agree to eat this leaf if she’s with us”

“But…”

“Shh” HE hushed him. “Just go and do as I have directed, make sure you bring her here in one piece!”

“Yes, sir”
