Melanie’s pov 🧚

A gush of cold breeze blew past me immediately I stepped into the convent, I suddenly started feeling uneasy.

Why am I suddenly getting paranoid.. I wondered.

“… just pray father Reed agrees, or I’ll just run away from here” I heard Gabby say.

I laughed, she pretends as though she’s not nervous of father Reed’s response.. but she is.

“Let’s hear from the horse’s mouth first, Gabby” I told her.

We arrived at father Reed’s office, I knocked on the door and waited a few moments.. but go no response from him.

I knocked again, but still got no response.. I faced Gabby.

“Maybe we should head to the church, he might have gone to take people’s confessions” I suggested.

“Alright” she replied and we headed towards the church building.

I guess I’ll just use this opportunity to confess my sins too, I know after the confession father Reed is gonna scold me.

It’s extremely quiet as we walked down the hallway, I mean, every hallways we past seemed to be isolated…which made that paranoid feeling suddenly came back.

I started having this feeling that something bad is about to happen.. or has happened.

The quietness that engulfed the convent this afternoon is kinda eerie.. what’s going on?

“Gabby, don’t you find the convent too quiet?” I asked her.

She looked around and nodded, she embraced herself as though she’s cold.. I guess she just felt the cold breeze too.

“Let’s find father Reed quickly” I said and she nodded.

We didn’t see any of the little girls that run about the premises, neither did we hear their happy giggling as we walked by.

My feet instantly increased their pace, but I halted when I saw every sister in the convent gathered in front of the church.

They were all sitting on the ground, with a scared expression on… A man and a woman are standing behind them, like they are holding the sisters captive.

“What’s going on here?” Gabby asked.

“I don’t know” I replied.

Who are these people? And why are they holding the sisters as captives here?

“Come on, let’s go find father Reed” I said.

“What? Are you trying to get us killed?” she exclaimed quietly.

My brows furrowed in a deep frown, is she being scared right now? Hasn’t she always been the bravest of us?

“We don’t know what’s going on, leaving them to their fate is the biggest sin ever” I whispered to her.

Her eyes moved to the sisters, she closed her eyes and sighed.

“Let’s get father Reed, let’s find out what’s going on first” I suggested and she nodded.

“But how do we get past them? They’re blocking our way” she said.

Luckily, as if God heard our thoughts, they turned their back on us.

Seeing this as a divine opportunity, we sneakily ran past them.

Some of our sisters saw us and almost scre-med our names,but we quickly signaled them to stop and ran straight for the church’s main entrance door.

Without wasting time, I pushed the doors opened but I suddenly wished I never did.. I regretted ever opening the doors.

My wh0le world stopped, my wh0le was shaking as a bloodcurdling scre-m left my mouth.

“FATHER!!”

My feet couldn’t move as I stared at the horrific scene in front of me, a few meters away from me is father Reed.. laying on his own pool of blood.

I didn’t realize when I made it to him, I fell on my knees and carried his head onto my laps.. I cradled his head in my arms.

My eyes trailed his body, his shirt is ripped off and stained with blood… my eyes fell on his stomach and I gagged, but couldn’t vomit since I burst into tears.

Father Reed’s stomach is splitted in two, his intestines all purged out. His kidneys, livers and…

Oh my God! How did he ended up dying such a miserable death?! Who is this heartless?!

“Father Reed…” I cried as I shook him.

He’s dead, I know he’s dead and there’s nothing I would do that can bring him back to life.. but I don’t wanna believe he’s dead, I shook him as hærd as I could.

“Wake up, father.. wake up!” I shouted as though he could hear me and just wake up.

Gabby fell on her knees beside me too, she reached for father Reed’s hand and held it.. then she broke down, crying so hærd.

I’ve never seen her so broken before, she looked so torn.. I think she looked worst than me.

Father Reed is the only one who’s been there for us since we were kids, he’s just like a biological father to us.

What are we gonna do without him?

“Father wake up, don’t sleep.. don’t.. don’t sleep I beg you.. don’t…” I cried.

No matter how hærd we shook him, he just wouldn’t wake up.

“Father don’t you dare sleep on us.. please wake up, wake up father.. just wake up” Gabby cried too.

Her opened her mouth and let out a very loud wail, which increased the rate by which my tears were running down.

I honestly didn’t know she’d cry this much, she loves father Reed just as much as I love him.

The sound of someone laughing caught my attention, I didn’t even noticed someone was here because I was so focused on father Reed.

“You should be happy he’s gone, he was a nuisance to the world and a disgrace to priesthood” a familiar voice said.

I lifted my head and realized it’s that psycho from the alley, I got up and glared at him.

“What are you doing here?” I asked him.

“What do you think?” He asked back with a smirk.

I took a step back from him and took in his appearance, he’s fully covered in red.. that must be father Reed’s blood!

Did he… he killed father Reed!

Did he came kill father Reed just to have his revenge on me?! But I don’t recall ever offending him before I left the alley.

Unless he must have come for his own reasons.

Without thinking about my actions, I hijacked his collar and gathered a handful in my fist.

“You vicious monster! Why did you kill father Reed?!” I growled in his face.

Although, comparing his 6ft5 with my 5ft8 height, it seemed as though I’m a dwarf.. so, I kinda raised my head.

“Ok, let’s be clear about one thing, darling”

Again with the affectionate name, this is no time to blush but why am I blushing?

This is father Reed’s murderer, I should clear my mind and focus on this matter on ground.

“One thing I don’t like is someone accusing me, stop pretending as if your father Reed is innocent.. he’s no saint”

His words angered me greatly. Father Reed is a man with a big heart, he has a heart of gold.. how dare this psycho blaspheme him.

I let go of his shirt, I began throwing punches at him with my tiny fists.

“Father Reed is a good man, he wasn’t supposed to die in the hands of a sinner man like you!” I growled.

“Darling… ”

“Shut up, you vicious tyrant! I shouldn’t have crossed paths with you!” I yelled as I continued throwing punches at him.

I wish I could turn back the hand of time, we wouldn’t have taken the alley…i wouldn’t have meet someone as evil as him.

His eyes moved to father Reed and he glared at him, his eyes held a murderous look.

Like if he’s given a second chance he’d kill father Reed over and over again.

“The lord won’t forgive your heinous crime! He’ll send you to the deepest part of hell, he’ll torture you eternally!”

My hands are getting tired from all the punching, because he doesn’t look as though my punches are hurting him.

I resorted to kicking his legs, but surprisingly my legs don’t hit him.

“Why did you let the devil dominate you?! Why did you give the devil room to use you?! You… ”

I choked on my words when he suddenly wrapped his hand around my neck, lifting my legs off the ground.

“Let her go!” Gabby yelled.

She got up and came at him, she grabbed the flesh of his left arm in her teeth.

But he pushed her off and Gabby was sent flying across the hall, she hit a pillar and fell down.. then started coughing out blood.

*Gabby!* I yelled mentally.

I winced and coughed as his grip on my neck is getting tighter, I grabbed his hand and tried to remove it…but I know I can’t, after all I barely survived the first time.

His eyes furrowed at Gabby, I shook my head as I struggle under his hold.

“Don.. don’t hurt.. her..” I forced out.

The psycho didn’t listen to me, hetightened his hand around my neck, I closed my eyes and opened my mouth to enable me inhale some air…which seemed to be impossible.

“Don’t accuse me blindly before knowing the truth!” He growled in my face.

I winced in pain when I felt his hand tightening even more, but he suddenly released me and I fell in a thud… I gro-ned.

Narrator’s pov 🧚

Lucifer tightened his hold in her neck, but immediately let her go when he felt himself suffocating too.

He glared maliciously at her as he rubbed his neck, he clenched his jaw and balled his fist.

*F**king me! D*mn the mate bond!* He growled mentally.

Melanie’s coughing caught his attention, he took slow steps towards her and squatted in front of her.

He held her chin in a tight grip, but not to the extent where it hurts…since he’s gonna feel the pain too.

Gabby wanted to go save her friend, but she couldn’t move, her back seemed to be broken.

“When are you gonna stop crossing paths with me?! Must you always meddle in my affairs?!” He sneered.

“I’m not meddling, this is my home!” Melanie replied boldly.

She was surprised where she got so much confidence just now, she wouldn’t have talked to someone who just killed like that.

“Your home?” Lucifer asked.

“Yes” she replied.

He smirked, he got up and clapped his hands.

“Whoa! So even my mate is living with an unclean man!” He muttered under his breath.

He looked up to the sky and nodded, he scoffed.

“Right…I forgot you said I’ll be striped off everything holy” he chuckled.

He moved his gaze back to Melanie, he’s staring at her with his brows furrowed together… he’s thinking of something.

*She seemed to be important to her*

He laughed.

*Maybe I should use this to my advantage!* he thought.

Melanie coughed a few times, she rubbed her neck and gasped for air…then crawled towards father Reed’s body.

“You’ve killed father Reed, you’ve achieved your aim.. just leave” she whispered.

Lucifer laughed, he shook his head.

“No”

“No? What do you want?” Melanie asked.

Melanie’s pov 🧚

I glared at the psycho, he came here to have his revenge on me and he’s got.. why won’t he leave then.

Within seconds, he’s squatting beside Gabby, he held her chin in his hand.. just like he’s held mine few minutes ago.

I saw Gabby trying to flinch away from him, but he’s got her in a strong hold.

“What do you want from us now?!” I asked.

“It’s said, leadersh¡p by example…” He trailed off.

He moved his eyes from Gabby and focused them on me.

“… if the priest here is bad, then the church would be full of corrupt brethrens”

I didn’t speak, I simply stared at father Reed’s body and cry silently…my shoulders shook vehemently as I cried.

“How about I do some cleaning here, I guess I should just set the church on fire”

My neck snapped towards him, I glared maliciously at him with my red puffy eyes.

He smirked.

“I should just burn down the church, with everyone of you in,side” his smirk grew bigger.

God, forgive me but I must say this. Right now, I hate this man, I wish I’m strong enough to kill him and avenge father Reed.. I hate him!

“I should start with her first”

He grabbed Gabby by the neck, my heart suddenly skipped in fear and blood drained off my face at once.

“Let her go!” I shouted.

“What would you do if I don’t?” He asked mockingly.

I balled my fist, since that’s all I can do.

“I can just kill her and do same to the others”

His grip on Gabby’s neck tightened, she coughed and looked at me, as though she’s trying to see my face once more before she die.

My l-ips quivered and tears flowed down my cheeks, who on earth is this monster? why did fate allowed us to meet?!

“Let her go, I beg you.. please, let us go” I cried.

“I can let them go, but under one condition…” he trailed off.

I couldn’t speak, I was just simply crying out my eyes, I swear my face is a crying mess right now.

“… you must come with me!” He said.

Come with him? To do what exactly? Wait.. do I even have a right to ask?

“You don’t have time to think about it, there are lives at stake here and only you can save them now”

Father Reed is dead, naturally that is already a big hit to the church.. and me too.

I’m feeling kinda guilty, you know, this psycho wouldn’t have come here if it wasn’t to get his revenge on me.

I don’t wanna go with him, but I’m responsible for father Reed’s death, I can’t let him kill more innocent people.

“Tick tock! Tick tock! Tick tock!” He made the clock sound.

My eyes moved to Gabby, she’s giving me a look that says I shouldn’t go with him.

“Only you can save them, my darling!”

Having said that, his grip tightened even more.

I closed my eyes and let out more tears, I held my head in my hands… My hands that were covered in father Reed’s blood.

“I guess… I’ll have to kill her then…”

“I’ll come with you! I’ll come with you! Just let her go!” I shouted.

If I hesitate any longer, he’s truly gonna kill her, those bloodlust eyes of his proved he meant his words.

Any resistance from me can turn this wh0le place to a bloodbath temple.. his action on father Reed is proof.

“Did you just say you’re coming with me?” He asked as though he didn’t hear me clearly.

“Y-yes.. yes, just let them go, please” I pleaded with him.

He quickly let go of Gabby and rushed to me, he grabbed my arm and pulled me up.

“Good girl” he said with a smile.

His eyes held a kind of an evil glint, I’m scared to go with him.. he seemed to have an evil plan for me.

He started dragging me towards the exit, I turned to Gabby who’s trying to get to me.. but she can’t, remember she’s injured.

“Gabby, don’t worry about me, go inform mother Emily about this and get yourself treated.. I’ll be fine!” I shouted, so she could hear me.. since we’re already at the exit.

This is happening because of me, I should settle this on my own.. I’ll just go with him now and find a way to escape later.

No, he’s gonna come for them if I escape.

I should find evidence against his crimes first, then hand him over to the police.. that way I can get justice for father Reed.

Gabby reached out her hand, as if she wanna hold me but I just smiled at her.

“Go to mother Emily, I’ll be fine!”

He chuckled.

“Don’t be so confident, we aren’t sure what might happen to you”

I glared at him.

“You’ll be cast to eternal damnation if you continue on this path, devil’s son!” I growled under my breath, but he strangely heard me.

He laughed.

“I’m the devil himself, I don’t have a son yet… Maybe we can make one together in the future”

“Over my dead body!” I replied.

I just have to be brave and find evidence against his illegal acts, then hand him over to the authority and I’ll be free.

“Darling, I know what’s on your mind.. don’t even think about it, there’s none” he said.

We’ll see about that! I snapped mentally.

He must pay for murdering father Reed!
