✍️ CHAPTER TITLE ✍️: Annabel is Damien’s sister!
She doesn’t know how long she’s been sleeping, what she knows is waking up the next morning due to the constant banging on her door.
“Who’s there?” She sleepily asked after finding some peace within her sleep to finally speak, without opening her eyes to the brightness in the room.
“Annabel, are you awake?” She heard his voice replying to her from outside.
Now the reality was damned to her. She isn’t at the hospital anymore. How did she manage to sleep last night?
“Come in,” she tried speaking out loud for him to hear. She was still on the bed, with her head trying to find its way from the under of the blanket.
Damien twisted the doorknob and stepped into the room. This is the first time he’s stepping in here even after instructing Vera to take care of it.
Now that he’s looking at the condition of the room, he feels that Vera is a good worker to have taken her time to arrange all this without him there to supervise it.
“Good morning, Annabel,” Damien greeted after which he took a seat by the edge of the bed beside her.
She pulled the blanket off her head, opened her closed eyes sleepily then replied. “Good morning,” her tone exaggerates her words, and her voice shows that she isn’t ready to wake up yet.
“You must have been tired from the drive and everything yesterday,” Damien guessed while patting her hair which managed to stay out of the blanket.
“Hum…” Annabel hummed lazily, enjoying her brother’s touch on her hair.
“You should get enough sleep then. I have an important meeting to attend at the office since Caleb isn’t around to take care of it,” he started speaking.

“You can ask Disguise for anything that you want, while I am away, although I will try to be back as soon as I can,” he completed. His hand didn’t stop patting her hair. What can describe the joy Damien feels in his heart to have Annabel back in his life?
Finally, Annabel uncovered her head from the blanket, forcing her sleepy eyes open eventually to look at Damien.
He’s stepping out for real. He’s all dressed up in outing wear.
“Why leaving so early in the morning?” She managed to ask. Rubbing her eyes sleepily and then let out a soft yawn.
“Told you that I have some work… Also, it’s not early in the morning, it will be noon in a few hours,” he told to her after chuckling at Annabel’s words.
“Catch up with you later then,” she dragged the words out of her mouth. Closing her eyes back and then dipped her head under the blanket.
Damien smiled sweetly at her reaction. He stood up from the bed, dragged the blanket up to cover her body properly after placing a quick peck on her forehead, then he said before leaving the room.
“Don’t stress yourself… Bye.”

“Does Caleb not know how to look after it even if Damien can’t?” She complained brutally while discussing with Vera.
“Master Caleb isn’t always around to look after it too,” she politely answered her.
Vera doesn’t know what came upon Annabel after hours of being in the bed and finally waking up, she came downstairs with her to the kitchen and since then, she has never refused to bring up a conversation.
Different workers have walked up on them. When they see Annabel, they bowed their heads respectfully and then walked out of the kitchen.
Aside from Smart who stood by the door for a long time admiring Annabel’s beauty before walking away when Vera eyed him, none of them got the courage to wait by.
No one there knows who Annabel is to Damien, not even Vera whom they’ve been discussing together for a while now knows.
Maybe when their closeness is thicker than this, she would stylishly question her about a few things. Maybe then her secret will be leaked to Vera’s hand. Maybe.
According to what Annabel said when Vera wanted to stop her from coming. “I will be bored staying alone in the room. I prefer staying over here,”
Vera didn’t protest or tried stopping her from coming along again.
Although she doesn’t like Annabel’s presence in the house but from when she met her till the moment, Annabel never showed any bad acts to make Vera dislike her. Annabel seems nice enough to Vera if she may say.
“They are both bunch of offerings,” She scrunched her nose together in distaste and that made Vera chuckled softly.
“Do you like pets? You are also a man like them,” Annabel asked Vera after taking a bite from the sandwich that she had gotten from ShopRite yesterday.
Vera would have shown how irritated she feels when pets are around her but she couldn’t, as it would only make Annabel poke her nose into stories that she never wanted to share.
“I don’t like pets, Ms. Annabel,” she answered politely while chopping the carrots.
“What sort of people are you all?” Annabel exclaimed childishly.
“I’m getting a pet soon, and we will both take care of it together.” She stated firmly. Taking another bite from the sandwich.

Vera instead of declining smiled briefly to die the matter. She would find her way around if eventually Annabel sure gets a pet someday. But is Annabel not going to leave?
“Who taught you how to make those?” Annabel asked when she was about to get bored again.
“Nobody, I learned it online,” Vera replied while washing off the flour from her hand.
“Wow! You are doing too well as a man,” she complimented with a cheerful heart.
“Thank You, ma’am,” Vera bowed her head in shyness. That compliment made her heart dance happily.
“I’m not strict like Damien, just call me Annabel,” Annabel labeled with a smile.
Vera’s eyes almost widen in shock after hearing those… She’s not shocked hearing Annabel gives such an order but, knowing Annabel is giving her ways to like her more, makes her want to hit her head against the wall.
Why is she being nice? Aside from Annabel’s manners which shows that she’s young, if truly she’s Damien’s girlfriend then, why would Damien be with someone younger than him? She calls his name carelessly like they belong to the same categories.
“Fry some for me please, I am very hungry and this can’t sustain me,” Annabel asked of while trashing the empty pack of the sandwich in a dustbin can.

Caleb grabbed his phone quickly after going through the news headline while trying to reach through to Damien.
The phone already started ringing when he saw the picture of Damien and Annabel which was captured displaying on the television screen.
“Pick up your phone Damien,” he muttered in haste. A sigh of tiredness dropped from his mouth when the call dropped without Damien picking up.
He tried several times again to reach him but he didn’t pick up. Something needs to be done about this headline. He doesn’t think Damien is ready to define his relationship with Annabel yet.
To top it all, they’ve gotten the pictures of Annabel. That simply implies a problem because who knows if Crystal is also watching the news.

“I’m getting the room arranged before he arrives. I always so that after completing some of my work,” Vera answered. Taking a minute break from arranging the bed to speak with her.
“Ain’t you a Butler? It’s not supposed to be your job,” Annabel scoffed. Walked dramatically towards Damien’s dressing room, then she matched back into the room.
‘It’s nice in here,’ she admitted to herself while she admired her brother’s apartment.
“He prefers me doing it for him,” Vera told to her with a bow.
“Don’t do that again, I don’t like it.” Annabel cautioned about her bowing her head to her.
“What time does Damien usually return? I’m missing him,” She asked.
Vera cracked her head in thought before saying. “Probably at night,” then glared at Annabel.
“Wow! I should find myself something to keep me busy then, since Damien isn’t coming anytime soon,” Annabel proffered.
“I can as well help you in doing the arrangement!” She offered and was about to join.
“You ain’t strong enough for this yet, Ms. Annabel. I can do it alone,” Vera stopped her.
“I’ve told you to stop referring to me as that, Disguise.” She cautioned.
“I’m strong, I can’t just stay here and watch you work without me doing anything,” She highlighted.
“It is my job as a worker,” Vera politely said.
“It’s my duty as Damien’s sister to take care of his belongings, he’s my brother after all,” Annabel uttered.
Without another word she walked up to the dressing table without bothering about the gaze that followed her from Vera.
She leaned forward and started arranging Damien’s things that were on it.
Vera stood there watching Annabel’s back without grabbing her mind on a thought to stick with.
What did she just say? Annabel is Damien’s sister. They are siblings!? Did she overhear the wrong words?
