✍️CHAPTER TITLE ✍️: DAMIEN FEELS MOODY.

“Are you feeling better now?” She asked in a stressed tone. She had cried so much for the past few minutes since she entered this room.

She only stopped crying because a call came in and she needed to pick up. She had called Andromeda earlier but she didn’t pick up.

Vera doesn’t have many words left in her mouth to explain the main importance of her staying here to Andromeda. But the remaining chunks she was about to gather, she would try and pour it out to Andromeda while trying her luck.

“I’ve cried so much since last night. I thought I would get over it today but it’s really difficult,” Andromeda complained in a very thin voice. She remembered how she would have cried her heart out on the hills if not for the fantastic guy who helped in relieving her of the hefty pain.

“Why are you sounding like that? Did you get a sore throat?” Vera made comments on it. When she realized the obvious change in her voice.

“Not a sore throat. I’m just weak to talk a lot.” She lazily replied, and gradually fiddled her pillow tighter to herself.

“You’ll be fine. He hasn’t called?” Vera asked. It wasn’t like she expected that shamelessly behaved Brian to call her sister, she just wanted to know about how Andromeda’s state of mind is, before sharing what she has on her mind.

“Blocked. He wouldn’t dare,” Andromeda answered in an unpleasant tone. She heard the sound of a knock on the door.

“Come in,” she shortly yelled lightly and relaxed her head back on the pillow. She knows who was about to come in and her business over there.

“Is it Mother?” Vera asked after she heard Andromeda inviting someone to the room.

Andromeda declaimed her guess and then relaxed a bit to give space for whatever the maid wanted to do.

“Bring it here,” Andromeda requested, then the servant gave the tray directly to her with respect.

Immediately Andromeda collected the tray and dropped it on her bed, the servant turned around and left.

“What are you doing?” Vera asked curiously.

“I’m taking a coffee because my nose is blocked and it’s difficult breathing. I’m just craving something hot that could help me,” she shared with Vera after sipping a little from the black coffee.

“Now I believe it that you’ve cried so much. But, will that be enough? Maybe you should tell Mom,” Vera discussed out of concern.

“I’ll be fine after taking it. I would sleep and Vera, the pain wouldn’t be painful as this tomorrow, right?” She asked curiously.

Andromeda’s hope for Vera’s reply was high. She never wanted to hear ‘No’. She only wants to hear an answer that would heal this much stress for her.

“I’ve never felt one before. You know I’ve been single all my life,” Vera answered and was almost forced to laugh at herself.

She could never have believed it too if someone was to tell her. How she grew up idolizing Damien and never gave another man a chance to win her heart.

She’s turning twenty-five in two months to come, and she has never had any intimate moment with any man before. Wow! Damien has remained the king of her heart for many years. Isn’t that a big deal!?

“Such a clown.” Andromeda cursed because she felt offended by Vera laughing.

“I knew you never felt one before and it’s your choice. I just wanted to hear a word that would ease my pain, but it seems you’ve never had one to offer,” Andromeda nagged playfully.

“You should feel better by tomorrow. It only remains how you would share the night with witches because I don’t think sleep is ready to consider you after everything tonight,” Vera ranted in excess.

“Are you crazy? Why wouldn’t I sleep!? I’m going to sleep. A foolish guy only broke my heart, not my eyes,” Andromeda nagged and Vera was forced to laugh.

“I’ve not seen a coffee drinker who sleeps early. Well, you are old enough to break a lot of records now,” she taunted playfully.

“I should have just slept instead of calling you,” Andromeda snapped irritatedly. Now that Vera has talked about the coffee, she wouldn’t drink it anymore and her sore throat won’t stop paining her.

“It was just a harmless whining ma’am. You can always go to my room and talk to Damien’s wallpaper that is over there if you can’t sleep,” Vera whined and chuckled when Andromeda hissed loudly.

“After tomorrow you have just two days left, have you started packing? I’m sure no prince charming visited after you got there. Such a tingling pity,” she teased in other to get back at Vera for what she said.

Vera closed her weak eyes sleepily and then opened them. Andromeda’s words were meant to be a joke but they hurt somewhere because they are likely the truth.

She lied and came to get Damien, but did she get him? No, she didn’t. If only a soothsayer had told her not to be here and accept destiny.

“Andromeda, can I stay here for a week more? I have some plans to work on,” She asked quietly without concluding on any answer that she would give.

Vera already knows what Andromeda would say, and asking for another opportunity was just a trial.

“No Vera, just return home soon. I don’t mind you getting back at night, just return soon please.” Andromeda declined like she expected and Vera’s heart isn’t broken, because she expected the reply, but she wasn’t satisfied with it.

An acronym about life is the fact that you can always try to achieve great things. You can’t force many things to happen the way you want them.

“Okay,” Vera forcefully replied. They talked for a few more minutes randomly, and eventually, both of them bid themselves goodnight, and they hung up at the same moment.

Vera rubbed her face helplessly and was about to weep. Maybe she shouldn’t have met with Damien earlier.

The conversation they had earlier is the reason why she became weak now. Damien was even pleading for her to stay.

There was a moment over there when she felt like falling into his pleas and agree to stay. She could only stop herself when she remembered her promise to Andromeda.

After all, she loves Damien but couldn’t trade the bond between her and Andromeda for anything.

If everything can be solved or shared according to how she wanted it to be, she wouldn’t have had to be here before getting Damien.

Vera is only forced to believe the fate that she and Damien are not meant to be together. She could see him, she could touch him and even talk to him. On thing she could not do is to be able to make him hers.

It’s quite painful that everything is ending up this way and she had only two more days after this night to spare over here, then she would return home to her family.

She would greatly miss Annabel. It’s a good thing that aside from Smart, Annabel also knows the truth about her.

Vera isn’t entirely a liar even after everything. The only reason why she chooses to hide the truth was to maintain her safety.

She had hidden the truth away from Andromeda, but each pages of the truth would be revealed to Andromeda once she gets back home.

Relishing in the pain of leaving would only ruin the joy and moment that is to be created before the day comes.

If she’s leaving soon, everyone needs to be happy and especially, she needs to make sure that Damien makes an effort to get another Butler who would ensure Annabel’s safety after she’s gone.

After knowing the truth about Damien’s family problems from Annabel, serious action that would ensure their safety needs to be taken seriously.

It’s not just for the siblings to live a good life. It’s likewise for Damien, so he could get over his resentment towards womankind.

Vera after battling with her eyes for a while, started feeling sleepy and so far nature can’t be cheated, her eyes closed carefully and in a few minutes, she started sleeping.

The sorrow and tears that were let out only for the night are enough to give her nightmares.

Vera thought that it was some strange dream when she felt someone rubbing her hair. Vera doesn’t know who was giving her soul some peace even while sleeping.

The soothing feeling of the person’s hand on her hair gave her concern and when she could not be calm anymore, she opened her eyes to check whoever it was.

“Annabel!” Vera surprisingly called in a really thin voice. Her eyes were weak and could not be properly opened.

“Disguise, I’m sorry for disturbing your sleep,” Annabel apologized calmly, but she didn’t take her hand away from Vera’s hair.

“Hum…” Vera hummed and turned her body over so she could get a better view of Annabel.

“What are you doing? Ain’t you supposed to be resting?” She asked in a very delicate tone. She didn’t hide her voice. She spoke in her normal voice since Annabel knows about her identity now.

“I’m… I’m sorry for what I did. I was just scared of you leaving… I shouldn’t have told them anything,” Annabel let out in a grieved tone. It was written all over her face that she was feeling guilty.

“I understand your state. I’m not angry with you,” Vera assured, then she smiled faintly at her. Annabel only helped her to break the news that would have been hard for her to break, by herself.

Annabel on seeing that smiled back then she nodded her head. Vera was still feeling sleepy, so her eyes resumed back into closing little by little…

“Can I spend the night here, please? I don’t feel like staying in my room,” Annabel confessed before Vera could sleep again.

“Won’t Damien be angry? Only you knows that I am not a man, others don’t,” Vera asked in a worried tone.

“I’ll handle them. He won’t be angry with you. I’m sure Damien wouldn’t,” Annabel protested, and she rendered Vera helpless.

“Okay. Come and sleep right here, by my side,” Vera welcomed her with open arms after few thoughts.

Annabel’s sad face started fading and was replaced with a satisfactory smile. Instantly, she crawled over to the space, that is left beside Vera, on the bed.

Once Annabel laid down properly, Vera covered the two of them with the duvet. A smile escaped her lips when she heard Annabel murmuring, “You’re such a nice Princess.”

Annabel turned around and then clung tighter to Vera’s chest as she closed her sleepy eyes and the remaining space was for the night’s sleep to devour.

The next morning came and Damien could easily testify to the fact that he couldn’t get a good night’s sleep. Damien felt moody all through the night.

As if being worried about Crystal’s saga isn’t enough, now he would think about the Butler resigning soon.

He could see the sadness in Annabel’s eyes when he was consoling her yesterday. And clearly, he could see the determination in the butler’s eyes to leave.

Damien had stopped thinking for many hours about anything else, as he was trying to remember whether he had done anything that could upset the Butler who helped him during tough times.

Damien has been strangely drawn to the Butler in these past few days. He became concerned about him and unexpectedly attached.

He couldn’t remember himself causing the Butler any pain. So if the Butler is resigning, it must have been because of his family issues, as he had mentioned to him.

“Why are you busy staring at the wall early in the morning?” Caleb asked surprisingly as he entered the room in other to speak with Damien, but he met him staring at the wall instead.

“Were you able to sleep last night?” Damien asked instead of answering Caleb back, the way his heart was telling him to.

“After battling and thinking about many things, I was able to sleep for some hours,” Caleb answered truthfully.

Damien nodded his head and didn’t bother saying anything to him again. With his back facing Caleb, and his eyes on the wall, he wasn’t aware that Caleb is all dressed up, so early in the morning.

“Last night I went to check Annabel in her room but she wasn’t there. She must have been pained that Disguise is leaving,” Caleb shared.

“I knew when she entered his room. She spent the night with the Butler,” Damien simply replied.

“Wow!” Caleb mouthed but he didn’t drag the speech any further. He knows what Damien was doing.

If Annabel goes to the Butler by herself, it must have been because he is leaving soon. The Butler isn’t someone that could harm Annabel, so there was no need to be worried about Annabel staying with him.

Aside from Damien and Caleb, he was the next person that Annabel relates with. He has always ensured her safety and treated her especially.

If all of them are pained about the Butler resigning, Annabel is the one who cried so much because he would leave. The fact is that Annabel understands the importance of the Butler more than them.

“She cried so much yesterday. I never knew that she could be truthfully emotional,” Caleb emphasized.

“I could have cried too if not because the tears wouldn’t drop. No more head massage or anyone making my coffee for me,” Damien put his shame aside and discussed.

Caleb chuckled lightly, as he wasn’t expecting Damien to talk about such a thing.

Although, Damien wouldn’t let any one make his coffee for him, but, he could have easily gotten someone else who would massage his head for him. So, what’s the need to make a big deal out of it!?

“No qualms… I can always help you with that. You’re still my lil brother,” Caleb boasted.

“Such an idiot! I’m not even your mate,” Damien insulted and finally turned around to face him. He has only showed him his back from the moment Caleb entered the room.

“Where are you off to so early?” Damien asked in a surprised tone.

There is always less work to do at the company during the weekend. Caleb is supposed to be resting during weekends, so where is he heading to?

“I need to meet up with someone. You were the reason why I couldn’t visit her yesterday,” Caleb said in a timid voice.

Damien was surprised to hear him saying that he needed to meet with someone. And a lady to be precise. Who’s Caleb going to meet?

“Who are you going to meet?” Damien curiously asked. He knows that Caleb isn’t a fan of flocking around women.

Caleb doesn’t spare his time for anything else, aside from his work and family, so where is he heading now?

“A depressed princess whom I promised to visit,” Caleb answered sincerely. Damien couldn’t relate to whatever he was saying, so he niggled his head forward at him.

“Really? When did you become a therapist?” Damien scoffed.

“I’m not a therapist. I just feel the need to help someone whose heart has been broken,” Caleb shrugged his shoulder after saying.

“I see… By then, I’m going to be here while thinking about how to make Annabel happy after Disguise leaves,” Damien stated casually and strolled to the other side of the room.

“Good. But I think you should calm your head for now. How about you coming with me to the king’s abode? Something good can come up anyway, you can’t guess,” Caleb proposed calmly.

“Nothing good will… I will only be bothered a lot more,” he declined smoothly.

“I have a feeling that something good will take place. Also, Annabel would have enough time to spend with Disguise before he resigns,” He furthers pestered.

Damien doesn’t want to go anywhere, but Caleb’s words sounds confusing enough to convince him on what he wants to do.

He eyed Caleb briefly and after a few thoughts, Damien started walking to the bathroom, in other to have a nice bath, then accompany Caleb to wherever he is going.

Nobody knows, maybe something good would happen as Caleb mentioned earlier.

This outing might make their sad days to be numbered and limited… Damien can’t tell yet.
