Episode 23

Some days later

For this few days , Lotus tried all her possible best to avoid Reece and any trouble. All she care about now is her new family which is Vivian.

Yeah….. she is the only one she has right now

Lotus planned to go out of the clan to have some fresh air but Vivian insist of not going

“You can’t go out just yet, Lotus ! I don’t feel good about you going out. I feel like something bad is about to happen. Vivian muttered as she stared at her friend who was already dressing up. She couldn’t believe how stubborn she could be at times.

Lotus rolled her eyes as she put on her lovely purple gown.

“And why can’t I go out? I’m bored. I need to go out and get some air”.

“Are you my mother to decide for me? Lotus yelled angrily

“I’m sorry. I am just worried about you. Sorry if I made you feel that way.” Vivian mumbled and turned away.
It awakened Lotus guilt.

She walked towards her. “I’m sorry for saying that but you are my friend not my parents and you have to support me in anything.” Lotus muttered

“Including the bad ones?” Vivian asked

“Let’s just go. Do not be a kill joy.” Lotus said, dragging her out of the room.

The ocean was deep blue as usual as the bright sun shone over it, giving the water a mixed colour.

The wind blew softly as waves after waves slammed against the white soft sand.

Reece, staring at the waves. Alex stood miles away watching him. He was the only guard who followed him to the beach as the Reece had requested.

He wanted a peaceful lone time for himself and had requested the other guards to stay back.

Reece got down from his car with his hands behind him, he walked closer to the waves. He had his mind on many things. Things that would always remain a burden to him.

He stared around the place, noticing that people were beginning to pile up. It was still early in the morning and didn’t expect to see anyone at the river.

Few people that came across him quickly bowed and moved as far away as possible as they wouldn’t want to incur his wrath.

Reece continued standing, staring at the waves that he kissed his new gun

Upon all the places, Lotus choose to go to the river.

She has not been there before and she really need to see how it looks like.

“I’m sure its not as big as the one in my community’s own. I’m sure of that. Let us go check it out. Come on!!” Lotus said as they continued walking.

Although she was slightly limping, that didn’t stop her from visiting the ocean.

“Master … shouldn’t we be going back already? You have a meeting scheduled at noon.” Alex spoke softly from behind but as usual, he got no reply from Alex.

He only moved away from the spot and moved forward. He was still staring at the waves when he heard a familiar voice, giggling from a distance.

He raised his head to have a look and saw Lotus and Vivian running towards the water . His hands tightened behind him as he stared on.

Alex saw them too and was about moving forward when Reece raised his palm, signaling him to stop.

Alex bowed and stepped back while Reece continued staring.

Lotus and Vivian, on the other hand, didn’t know what was happening as they ran into the water. They chuckled with the waves hitting their legs, swirling around them softly.

“The water is so nice. Lotus stated with a smile .

“Yeah. I wish I can visit here frequently. Vivian muttered and she lifted her eyes and gasped loudly at who she saw.

Master!

Vivian froze while Lotus continued chatting, oblivious of what was happening

She noticed how silent Vivian had gone and stared at her. “Are you alright?”

Vivian’s fingers were shaking. She knew she couldn’t print. She dare not.

“He’s…here.” she stammered.

“Who?”

“Mas ….. Master!” Vivian whispered and Lotus eyes widened.

She was so surprised to see Reece as soon as she turned. What is he doing here? She couldn’t believe he could come to the river.

“What do we do now? I think we should go greet him.” Vivian mumbled. Her lips were barely moving, but Lotus heard every bit of what she said.

And before Lotus could decide, she found him walking towards them.

“ Good day master. Vivian stated with a bow

“Alex, take this to the clan, put her in the cells , we will catch up later. Reece stated pointing at Vivian

“As you wish master. Alex muttered with a bow and signal Vivian to follow him

Some few moments of silent, Reece decided to break the silence

“Why are you fold to always cause troubles? Is your middle name trouble? Reece asked and Lotus chuckled

“I’m sorry master. I felt bored in the clan that’s why I decided to take a walk.

“Don’t you think u deserve a punishment for this? And who the hell allowed you out? Reece asked

“Ermmmm master…… actually we sneaked out without anyone’s knowledge

“Get into the car. Reece muttered coldly

An hour later

The drive was so silent as no one was ready to break it. Just then, two cars crossed them

“F**k!!! Why didn’t I think of this earlier. I think we are ambushed. Reece stated which made Lotus wondered what’s he’s talking about

“Stay in the car, I will come soon. Reece stated and get down from the car

Lotus decided to take a look of what’s happening outside and just then a gunshot was heard

Reece quickly turned to look at where the bullet went

Lo and behold, the bullet hit Lotus leg where Reece shot yesterday and blood started gushing out

“Lotus , are you okay?” Reece asked, he knelt down and held her leg which was shot.

“I’m fine” Lotus managed to say.

“We’re ambushed, this is all your fault. If you let me go with my friend , I don’t think I will get shot again ” Lotus grunted, holding her leg which was already full of blood.

Reece chuckled.

“This is nothing to me, just hold me tight, okay?” He said.

Though Lotus didn’t understand what he meant, nevertheless she nodded her head.

“What are your waiting for? Fire!!!!” A guy ordered.

Reece swooped Lotus into his arms, shielding her away from the men.

He brought out two guns from his pocket, holding it tightly while trying to avoid the bullets.

“Close your eyes” he whispered in her ears.

Lotus did as he instructed, she closed her eyes tightly, clinging unto him for dear life. At that moment, she trusted him more than her life.

Reece looked at the men, stylishly targeting where to hit directly.

He raised his hand and started firing bullets with the two guns in his hand.

He dodge a bullet that was aimed at Lotus , he glare at the guy who pulled the trigger before shooting him on his head.

“Bastard” he cussed.

Lotus was trembling badly in fear as different sounds of guns filled the air.

Suddenly, everywhere went silent that she could even hear the sound of a needle when it drop.

Slowly, she opened her eyes, her hands flew to her mouth when she saw different bodies laying on the floor.

She looked at Reece to find him grunting in pain, he was shot by the arm while trying to save Lotus .

“Master! Are you okay?” She asked.

“I should be asking you that” he gestured at her arm.

Lotus looked at the bodies of the men on the floor before staring at him.

“How did you do this? How did you defeat them?” She asked.

“I’m a Mafia, you shouldn’t expect less” he said.

He placed his hand on her waist and raised her up. Lotus legs swayed and he wrapped his hand around her tightly.

“Let’s leave this place” he said, he tried to take a move but she stood rooted to the ground

Lotus bits her lips but suddenly groaned out when an unbearable pain gripped her.

“My leg hurts” she whispered.

Reece carried her in his arms, her hands subconsciously went around his neck.

“Put me down, your hand is wounded” she struggled to get out of his arms.

“Stay still” he said. He placed her in his arms well before walking to the car.

All through the short walk to the car, she kept staring at him throughout. She couldn’t believe he cared for her while he was injured.

They got to the car, Reece placed her on the seat before entering the car also.

“Hold on tight, we’ll be at the clan soon” he said.

He drove out of the place immediately. Throughout the drive back to the clan, Lotus held her legs trying not to break down as the pain was getting worse at each moment.

Reece drove roughly into the garage, he got down from the car and carried her in his arms again.

He was on his way to the maids quarters when he saw Alex and Tony. They both rushed to him when they saw him.

“Boss, what happened? Your arm!” Alex exclaimed, seeing Reece injured arm.

“It’s a long story. Let’s get her treated firsr” Reece said.

That was when they both noticed Lotus bleeding leg.

“F**k! How did this happen?” Alex asked.

Reece took Lotus to his room, in no time.

“Tony, call me the doctor. Reece muttered

MINUTES LATER**

Reece watched as Lotus sleeps peacefully on his bed with just one thought on his mind.

Why did she do what she did? Why did she come out when I clearly told her no to?

He was still thinking about that when Miquel entered.

“Can you just tell me what happened? How did you both got injured?” Miquel asked.

” It was a trap after all, Jeremy did that to lure me out. Too bad I have something special in store for him” Reece chuckled dryly.

“If I should get you right, you mean you we’re ambushed?” Miquel asked.

“Yes, I really didn’t know why She got shot tho” Reece said.

Miquel glanced at Lotus sleeping figure before looking at Reece.

“Are you worried about her?” He asked.

Reece stared at him.

“If you hadn’t taken a gun along with you, how will you be able to defeat those thirty men?” Alex chipped in .

Reece stared at him in shock.

“How did you know they were thirty men?” He asked.

“Errrrmmmm actually ermmmm mm …. Alex stuttered
