I heard the shrill sound of my phone ringing,, I moved gently, so that I won’t wake Derek who was snoring gently beside me. I glanced at my screen, brushing off strands of hair that obstructed my vision.
For goodness sake who’d be calling at this ungodly hour, it was past 12am for crying out loud.
“Hello?” I said quietly.
“Heeey!”
I would never forget that voice, even in a thousand years. I sharply sat up in bed and quickly glanced at Derek. His chest was still heaving evenly with the rhythm of his breathing.
I gently unwrapped his hands around my wa-ist and sneaked out of the room on tip toe.
I moved to the bathroom and shut the door.
“What do you want?” I asked furiously, keeping my voice low.
“Amber, Amber, I’m lonely-hiccup-…I need someone to talk to.” He slurred out from the other end.
“You’re nuts!” I exclaimed.
“I want to see yoouuu…”
“Go get a life!”
“What if I show everybody the video? Huh?”
“I don’t care! Show everyone! I don’t give a shit anymore!” I said heatedly, breathing heavily.
“You care, you do. How about your sister’s career?”
“I’ve said that this is between the two of us! Leave my sister out of this!” I nearly scre-med at him.
“Two of us? Why would I want to gave anything to do with you? After you tried to kill me?”
My grip on the phone tightened.
“Then why?” I whispered. “Why are you doing this?”
“I want to ruin your life, I want to make you suffer for what you did to me, I’ll make you regret ever trying to escape from me,I’ll deal with you, you’ll beg for death.” He said with so much anger, I shivered slightly, feeling a little surge of fear.
“I..I thought y…you loved me?”
He laughed out, loud and mockingly. All the hairs on my body stood on end.
“I found someone else, and I can assure you she’s the exact opposite of you.”
I felt a little pang of pity for the unfortunate girl that had gotten into his claws.
“T…that’s cool.”
“Are you jealous?”
What? Is he kidding me? Jealous? Ahhh
“Nooo!”
“I want to see you tomorrow.”
“Where?”
“Moonlight bar, by 2:00pm”
“Fine.” I disconnected the call, my heart heavy all of a sudden.
I quietly opened the door and tiptoed to the bed. I quietly got in the bed beside Derek.
“Who was that?” I heard his voice in the darkness. I was so startled that I nearly scre-med.
“Oh,I didn’t know you were awake, hope I didn’t disturb you?” I asked, trying to deviate from the topic.
“You didn’t answer my question Amber, who is the person calling you by 2am in the morning? What’s so important that the person couldn’t wait till tomorrow?”
“Actually… It’s my friend…” I lied, my brain working fast, trying to cook up a lie.
“Your friend? By 2am?” I felt him lean forward to fiddle with the bedside lamp, soon the hærd fluorescent light bathed the room,making me squint slightly as my eyes adjusted to the light.
I looked into his face, his tousled white blond hair fell over his face, hiding his left eyes.
I smiled reassuringly at him.
“Actually she traveled to Africa for a tour, she forgot all about the time differences and decided to check on me.”
Wow, smart
“Hmmm…” He seemed doubtful.
“Why did you have to go to the bathroom to take the call?”
“I didn’t want to disturb you, that’s why…” I smiled and stroked his chin.
“Come here you.” He pulled me to him and k-ssed me. I responded to his k-ss, and soon he had pinned me to the bed.

I had successfully moved my things to the guest room, I couldn’t ignore the unsettling feeling I get in my guts when I’m in my room.
When my mom asked me why I had relocated, I told her that I wanted a change.
It was already morning, my alarm woke me up. My manager had also called to tell me that I’ll be attending a concert this evening, though I would not be performing. I felt relieved.
I got out of bed and moved to the bathroom to brush my teeth, and also wash my face.
Then I moved to the dining room.
I saw Derek, instead of Amber.
“Hey man.” I greeted, seating heavily on a chair.
“Hope you slept well?” He asked, looking up from his laptop. He also had a spectacle resting lightly on his nose bridge, giving him this professional and formal look.
“Hmm, I guess so.” I poured myself a glass of water. “What are you working on?” I gestured to his laptop.
“Oh, just some codes. Are you free now, I want to talk to you, it’s quite urgent.” He said, removing his spectacle.
I nodded.
“Sure I’m free now.”
He leaned closer.
“I don’t know, I’m having this hunch that Amber is hiding something from me.” He said almost conspiratorially.
My ears perked up in interest.
“Hiding? How do you mean?”
He scratched his head.
“Well last night, someone called her up around 2am in the morning, I mean who does that?!” He shook his head. “And then she had to take the call to the bathroom, she spent about five minutes in there, and it seemed like she was arguing with the person.” He took a deep breath.
My suspicion was confirmed, Dominic was still in touch with my sister.
“What do you think she might be hiding?” I asked him.
He shrugged.
“I don’t know,maybe it’s her ex calling or something, but I just know she’s hiding something from me.”
“I’ll definitely talk to her. It might not really be something…serious, don’t worry…” I smiled. “…she’ll come out clean very soon.” I said reassuringly.
He didn’t seem relaxed.
“I just wonder why she’ll hide something from me,_ I mean don’t she trust me enough to confide in me?” He looked hurt. I felt touched
“That’s how she is. She thinks she can handle every problem on her own…”
“Who’s handling every problem on her own?” Amber’s voice asked. She came into view, her hair, which was now quite lengthy, matted and messy, her eyes swollen.
“Oh, we were just talking about your new bestie Kori, she’s a very good person.”I said, smiling at her.
“Yeah, hope you slept well sweetie?” They k-ssed, I blushed and cleared my throat.
“You guys are making me jealous.” I retorted.
Amber smirked.
‘Awwn,poor you. Danny is not here to give you your morning k-ss huh?”
“Shut up Amber.” I glared at her. She rolled her eyes and walked into the kitchen.
I smiled at Derek and also stood up.
“Don’t worry, I’ll talk to her.” I said quietly, and walked to the kitchen.
◀FAST FORWARD▶
The day went by swiftly, I had my online class, then I settled down to some quiet time with cool music.
I missed danny, I hadn’t been him all day, he had been busy with a live performance.
I put my headphones on my ears and began to play music, drinking orange juice and munching on cookies.
I felt something trickle my calf, I looked down and smiled at creamy. I carried him on my arms and began to rub his furs tenderly.
His nails were long and untrimmed. I felt guilty, I had abandoned my creamy. This celebrity life was too time consuming, one barely had time to relate with their pets.
Well I had time now, so I took him to the bathroom and gave him a good bath, then I trimmed his furs and polished his nails till they glistened.
“Hey buddy.” I said to him, after I was done, and we were both lying on my bed. “Do you think I’m actually falling for druppy?” I Asked,, staring at the ceiling. He gave a little yelp.
“I mean two months ago, I’d never had dreamed of meeting him, now look at us…” I laughed. “…we even k-ss! Gosh! Unbelievable right?”
he gave a little happy bark.
“Oh creamy…” I hugged him.”…I wish you could talk, I know there are so many things you want to tell me…”
I laughed quietly to myself, wondering if Kori ever felt the same way with coco.
The doorbell rang. I glanced at creamy.
“I’m not expecting anybody, are you?”
I moved to the door and opened it. I tried to stifle a smile when I saw Kori, with coco in her hands.
“Hey.’ I said, unable to stifle my smile anymore, I gave her a big happy grin. She looked relived.
” I thought you’re still mad at me, hey creamy, I brought your gf.” She gently put down coco and the dogs began to chase each other. I smiled.
“Come in. But I’m still mad at you.”
“Oh please, I’m not good with apologies…” She said rolling her eyes.
“Let’s hear you then.”
“Well, er, I’m sorry for what I did… Though I don’t see anything wrong with it, and I don’t know why you should take offence…”
“Ttch! Apology not accepted. You’ll have to make Me pasta before I consider forging you.”
She scowled at me.
“Fine, where’s your kitchen?” I smiled triumphantly.
◀An hour later ▶
We were eating the pasta with salad. Kori had Now improved on her culinary arts, so the pasta was quite plausible.
After the meal, we both decided to go shopping. We decided to buy outfits for the concert in the evening.
We had so much fun choosing our clothes and shoes that matched with them.
“See you by 6!” I yelled after her as she got into her car with coco. She waved.

Danny had called to tell me he would pick me up. I was a little nervous. I couldn’t even fathom what our relationsh¡p was like. We just k-ssed, we never progressed beyond that. So we were not exactly a couple, we are just a ’17 year old girl and a 19 year old boy that liked k-ssing each other’
Amber came into my room..
“Can I borrow your perfume please?” She asked.
I rolled my eyes.
“I thought you never like jasmine scented perfume?” I asked, silently passing her my perfume.
She gro-ned.
“Unfortunately Derek likes it, so I have to please my man.” She sprayed it generously on her body and gagged. I laughed.
“See what love does to somebody.” I said teasingly.
“Don’t get me started Kelly! For the fact that you know that danny liked k-ssing you, that’s why you decided to wear nude l¡pstick always…”
I blushed.
“You know that’s not true, I like nude l¡pstick because it defines and bring out the beauty of the…”
“Spare me those talks.” She hissed and left my room, while I laughed.
The doorbell rang.
I rushed out of my room,, Amber also rushed out of her room at the same time. We collided into each other.
“Ouch!” She rubbed her nose. “Why the rush? That’s my ride.”
“More like mine!” I retorted and hastened to the door.
It was danny. Standing there, looking handsome in a navy blue suit.
“Hey there beautiful.” He cooed, his eyes slowly taking in my appearance. I blushed.
“You look handsome… As always…” I gushed out. Gosh! I don’t gush remember?
“You look stunning tonight..” He leaned forward and k-ssed my neck. I shivered slightly. When he pulled away I gave him a mock scowl.
“You’re not man enough to k-ss me on the l-ips..”
He chuckled.
“I don’t want to ruin your liosti, besides, I have other plans for those l-ips…” He wriggled his brows
I blushed.
“Awwwn…how sed-ctive!” Amber said
“Shut up!”
“Let’s go cupcake.” He offered me his hands. I nervously took it.
Cupcake? I like the sound of that😋😋
“Bye Amber, bye creamy!” I bent down and touched his head. “Be a good boy and behave well, Okay?”
He gave an excited bark.
I left the house with danny, we got into the car.
“Your perfume is driving me crazy.”
“Thanks. You’d better be careful, so that you won’t kill us.” I said nervously.
“Don’t worry, I have a special treat for you tonight.” He said suggestively.
My heart flipped over in my ribcage, and blood rushed to my cheeks.
Gosh!
I can’t wait for the concert to be over.
◀At the concert▶
It was boring, the concert. I couldn’t wait for it to end. I was eager to know what Danny had in store for me.
I kept on stealing glances at him.
Kori had come with dray god. He had a mask on his face, so that people won’t recognize him. He actually performed one of his singles, it was amazing. Danny didn’t perform, but red vixen did.
It seems like she was no longer in talking terms with him. I had to give her credit, her performance was lit!
People cheered after her performance. I clapped too, I don’t have any grudges against her.
I gasped when I felt Danny’s hand steal up to my thighs. The hall was dimly lit so nobody could easily see what he was doing.
What is he doing?
That sinking feeling in my stomach intensified.
His hands moved up a little, I bit down on my l-ips to prevent a mo-n from escaping from my l-ips.
My phone buzzed with a message.

Gosh!
My cheeks heated up. Kori who was beside me looked at me curiously.
“Are you okay?” She asked. I nodded, afraid that my voice would betray me.
My phone rang loudly this time, I quickly silenced it, feeling embarrassed.
I connected the call not bothering to look at the screen.
“Hello?”
What I heard on the other end made my heart jump.
I could hear whimperings, and sounds of pain. My heart started beating fast. I could feel the persons pain from the cries.
“Hello!” I was nearing hysteria now.
The sound continued, persistent.
“Are you okay?” Danny asked worriedly. I ignored him.
Then I heard the long, sad yelp of creamy..
Creamy!!!
Noooo!
My phone dropped from my hands, to the floor.I stood up quickly, upturning my chair in the process.
“What’s it Kelly?* danny asked firmly.
” creamy… ” I gasped. “…he’s in danger..”
Kori and Damian stood up too, all looking worried.
“You guys sit down.” Danny told Kori and Damian. “It’ll be suspicious if all of us should leave now. I’ll go with Kelly.”
He was telling Kori, I wasn’t even listening, I just wanted to go home, to my dog, would do such a thing?
Tears were already streaming down my face.
“Let’s go.” Danny said. I nearly ran out of the hall. We got into his car, I was crying silently, praying that nothing should happen to my dog.
“Don’t worry, creamy will be fine.” Danny told me reassuringly.
I hope so, I hope so😭😭
The ride home was very long, I was getting impatient and more apprehensive.
As we got nearer and nearer to my apartment, my heart beat more and more in panic. Immediately the car parked in the garage, I rushed out and begin to race to my apartment.
“Wait Kelly!” Danny yelled after me. I ignored him, I took the elevator up to my apartment, he also got in.
When we reached my door, I fumbled with my bag, my hands shaking badly. I dropped my purse. He picked it up and brought out my keys.
He opened the door and took a step into the apartment. I heard him gasp, I tried to push him out of the way, he was blocking my vision.
“Don’t look Kelly.” He said, turning around suddenly.
I stood on tip toe and peered over his shoulders.
I saw blood, smeared on the wall.
Handwritten with blood was I WARNED YOU
Then I saw the creamy fur, stained with blood.
Just that moment, I felt Danny’s hands cover my eyes, pulling me to himself.
I hugged him back, sobbing uncontrollably…

I watched Kelly as she sat, staring into space unseeing.
She cupped her head with her hand which she put on her knee.
“Kelly, you’re okay?” I asked with concern. She didn’t even look at me, she didn’t act like she heard what I said.
When I had dragged her out of the blood stained apartment,, she had put up stiff resistance, clawing at my arms and scre-ming on top of her voice.
I had called the 911.
This was unbelievable, I mean why would someone want to do that to the innocent dog?
The sight had been gory and it gave me the chill. Only a psychopath would do that. The person had sliced the dog’s throat, and then used the blood to write on the wall.
“Kelly?” She turned to look at me with vacant eyes, tear stains underneath her eyes.
“Are you okay?” She didn’t reply. Seems like she’s still in shock.
I moved close to her and put my hands around her. She didn’t even react to my touch.
“Don’t worry, I’m going to find out who did this to creamy.” I told her soothingly. She didn’t say anything.
We heard the police siren, I felt a little relieved. I stood up as the police men got out of the car.
“Danny druppy?” One of them asked, clearly surprised.
“I prefer Daniel Williams.” I told him in a tight voice.
“I’m superintendent Ron.” He showed me his ID card. I nodded. Other police officers got out of the car.
“So what’s wtong Mr Williams?”
“A dog has been murdered.”
“A dog?” I could detect the sarcasm in their voice.
“Yes, you should go have a look, not a pretty sight.”
The man looked at me for a while and went to the apartment, with one of the officers.
They soon returned.
“When did this happen?” His face was pinched.
“About ten minutes ago.”
“Who’s dog is this?”
“Hers.” I pointed to Kelly.
“Whose apartmen”
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.
“Hers too.”
“Where were you when it happened?”
“I was at the stalwart concert. She…” I pointed to Kelly. “…got a call and we rushed down here immediately.”
“What did she hear from the phone conversation that made her aware that her dog was in danger?”
One of the female officers was trying to talk to her, she didn’t even spare her a glanc
Oh crap!
I didn’t ask Kelly.
“I don’t know. She just got a call and got hysteric, and insisted that she want to go home to her dog.”
“Who’s the young lady to you?”
“Er, does it matter?”
“Yes.”
“My girlfriend.” I stated turning to look at her. The female officer walked to us, looking frustrated.
“She won’t talk to me sir.”
“She’s in shock.”
I tucked my hands into my pockets.
“So superintendent, what do you think?” I asked.
“Did she ever get any threat note, or she had a quarrel with someone?”
I scratched my head.
“I don’t know. She never made it obvious if she had.”
Just then a black car drove in and parked in front of the house. Kori and Damian came out from the front seat, while Amber, Derek and April came out from the backseat.
“What’s wrong danny?” Dray god asked, while Kori and amber rushed to Kelly.
“creamy was murdered.” I said quietly.
“Shit!”
From the corner of my eyes I caught a movement. I turned sharply. Kelly was fighting off Amber and Kori, glaring hatefully at April.
“You bastard!!” She shrieked, breaking free from her restrainers and running towards April, who stood still, looking surprised.
“Bastard! What did the poor dog ever do to you?!!” I had never seen Kelly so angry. She grabbed April’s hair and began to claw at her face.
“Why did you kill my dog?!!! You should have come for me, not my dog!!” I rushed forward, April was scre-ming at the top of her voice, feebly warding off Kelly.
I put my hands around Kelly’s wa-ist and pulled her away from April.
“Leave me alone! Let me teach her a lesson!! Why creamy?!” She broke down and began to cry.
I hugged her, patting he back soothingly.
I turned to look at April.
“April?” I called out. She looked up at me, blood dropped out of wounds on her face.
“I..I.didn’t kill her dog.”
“Liar! ” Kelly pulled away from me and turned to look at April. “You sent me that f-cking text huh? Deny it now bitch! You sent me ‘stay away from Danny or say bye bye to creamy!!” She scre-med and lunged at April again. I restrained her firmly.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
“April, you sent Kelly the text?” I asked, fearing what I’ll hear.
She looked at me and shook her head.
“Y…you think I’ll kill her dog? Just to spite her?” Her eyes were shining with tears.
“Answer the question. Did you or did you not send the text?’
” I did! I sent her the text!!” Amber and Kori gasped.
“But I didn’t kill her dog. Even if I’m not a huge fan of dogs but I would never hurt one!”
“Why would I believe you? You admitted that you sent the text. What then stops you from killing the dog?
“Because I may be other things but definitely not a murderer!” She said through clenched teeth.
“You’ll pay for this April!” Kelly said suddenly, her voice dangerously cold and low. “I swear to god, you’ll regret ever messing with me!” I put my hands around her, shushing her.
“Hush!” I told her, leading her away from them, the police.
I looked back, the police were putting a handcuff around April’s wrist.
Kelly stopped suddenly.
“Are you okay?” I asked with concern.
“No.”
She turned slowly and puked on the grass.

Kelly refused to enter the apartment again, she said it was evil. Kori parked in a few clothes for her and we headed to my house. Amber and her mom opted to stay in a hotel.
Kelly was still in shock, she didn’t talk to anybody, she refused to eat dinner.
A maid cleaned up a guest room.
I led her to the room and layed her gently on the bed.
Dray god stood on the doorframe, watching us.
I walked towards him.
“April has been released. They have no evidence against her, her alibi is waterproof. She was performing on stage when the incident occurred.
I nodded.
“Do you think she did it?”
“April? She can do anything. I’ll just keep my fingers crossed and watch.”
“Do you think Kelly is in danger?”
I turned to look at Kelly who was lying on the bed. She looked so vulnerable, so weak. I suddenly felt this urge to protect her, to put my hands around her and comfort her.
“I don’t know. I won’t let anything happen to her.” I said clenching my fist.
“You should get the police protection, i have a bad feeling about all this.”
I nodded.
“I’ll see what I can do about it.”
“Goodnight. Take care of Kelly.” He walked away. I stood for a while, watching his retreating figure.
I walked into the room and closed the door after me. I got into the bed, beside her.
“Hey.” I said gently, smiling at her. I was surprised when she smiled back.
“Hey.” She said quietly, her face sad.
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s not your fault, I mean I should have taken him along with me,…” She sighed loudly.
“Shhhh, you should go to sleep, you’ve had a long day.” She snuggled closer to me. I wrapped my arms around her body.
“I’m glad you were there, with me.” She said quietly, after some time of silence.
“Yeah, me too.”
“I mean, it’s still strange, knowing that creamy is gone, I’ll never hear his bark again…” Her voice shook slightly.
“Shhh, don’t cry.”
“He didn’t deserve such a painful death. The poor dog…” She was already sobbing.
“Shhhh!” I hugged her tightly to myself and began to rock her gently, to and fro.
She calmed down.
I made sure she was sleeping before I drifted off to sleep.

I don’t know what woke me up, maybe it was the fact that I had a nightmare or maybe it was the fact that I didn’t feel any comforting warmness beside me.
I reached out to Kelly, I groped only empty space.
Kelly?!
I sat up in bed.
Where did she go to?
I looked at the clock that hung on the wall it was a few minutes past 2am
Where would Kelly go to at this ungodly hour.
I didn’t ponder long, I heard the door creak a little. It seemed that whoever it was sneaking in.
I quickly lay down back and pretended to be sleeping.
I heard the stealthy footstep, and then I heard the person lean close to me, to make sure I was asleep. I fought the urge to open my eyes to look into the person’s face.
Then the person got into the bed beside me.
I closed my eyes for a long time until I heard the slight snore. I opened my eyes. Kelly was beside me.
where has she gone to by 2am in the morning?
I looked at her for a long time as she slept peacefully.
I decided that I’ll ask her tomorrow.
I settled down comfortably on the bed and soon I slept off.

I woke up when I heard loud knocking on the door. I opened my eyes, sunlight was streaming into the room. Kelly turned slightly, still asleep.
I yawned.
The knocking persisted. I frowned as I stood up from the bed.
I opened the door.
Daniam stood there, a worried frown on his face.
“Is Kelly alright?” He asked immediately i opened the door. My frown deepened.
“Yes, she’s sleeping. Why do you ask?”
He ran his fingers through his hair.
“April is dead.”
I was too stunned, my brain couldn’t process what he was telling me.
“Dead?” I mouthed. My mouth felt bitter all of a sudden.
“She was murdered this morning.”
That was when it sunk in. April? Dead.
As if by instinct, my head turned, to look at Kelly, who sat up in bed, staring at us wide eyed…
