Chapter 18&19: A DAY OFF AT RAINES CORP.

” So, you said you remember the guy at the cinema?” Arya nodded. ” How was that possible? No, I mean, what triggered you to remember that? ” Lily asked as they drove back home.

” The halloween statue.” She said.

” What halloween statue?” Lily asked, confused.

” The one at the park. ” She said, still not giving Lily a clear scene of what she was talking about.

” Arya, I think you should be a little bit specific. I really don’t understand what statue you are talking about. ”

” Okay. While you went to buy the ice cream, there was this statue standing by the side of the exit road. It has this red eyes and l-ips, painted in white like those bodies in the cemetery. ” She explained.

” Hold on, you’re trying to tell me that a fu*king white pale statue made you remember? Geez, what was the guy like? I mean, the man at the cinema. What was he like? ” She asked, eyes fixed at the steering wheel.

” I really can’t remember. All I can tell is, he’s been watching me since the movie started. I guess he followed me when I went to the toilet. ” She said.

” I asked him what he was doing in the female rest room, and all he could say was he didn’t notice the inscription. Then he started acting weird, really weird.

He looked hungry and… sick. I tried to know if he was okay but he said he was and… I think he said some thing after that. ” She paused, trying to remember.

” Some thing like… what?” Lily asked, impatient.

” I’m trying to think.” She touched her forehead as if doing that would help. ” Yeah, I remember it. He said he wanted my blood.”

For a while Lily bursted out laughing but stopped when she came to realize the only creature who could say that.

” What does the creature look like?” She questioned.

” Normal. Apart from the part he requested for my blood, then he looked pale and sick like he was gonna die. ” She replied.

” You got bitten by a vampire. ” Lily concluded without a second thought.

” Seriously?” Arya chuckled. ” You really believe in those fairytale vampires?”

” Come on, Arya, vampires are real. And they are all over the world, living among us. ” She explained.

” Those are just stories and movies, Lil. Those shits doesn’t exist. They only do exist in the Dracula sequel, that’s all. ” Arya said as a matter of fact.

” I won’t make any argument with you but you just have to get it at the back of your skull that you were bitten by a vampire. And that’s why it had healed. ” Lily stated.

” So, does it mean I’m gonna turn to one?” She asked, getting a bit terrified.

” Come on, babe, it’s been weeks since you got bitten, you never turned since then. What makes you think you will now? ”

For a brief moment there was silence. Arya was meditating on her conversation with Lily.

Though she did remember one thing she had forgotten, yet she feels like there are more she still needs to know.

Some thing tells her that she hasn’t fully recovered herself. Maybe, just like Mr Raines had advised her, she just need some rest to get every memories back.

They finally got home that night.

Arya laid on her bed, recollecting over her conversation over and over again. She was staring as the ceiling fan rotated, that she didn’t realize dozing off.

Come to talk about what just happened few minutes ago, Lily sat on her own bed watching as Arya slept.

All these started the very day Arya started her job as the assistant to Mr Adrian. She still have this doubts that Mr Adrian wasn’t actually a good person.

No information about his workers or some crazy things happening in his company, but some thing crazy was happening to Arya.

And for two good consecutive times, he brought her back home asleep in his arms. At first, she thought he had fu*ked with her best friend.

But when he brought her back home for the second time, she suspeted some thing was up.

Arya was so loyal and devoted to her job and her boss. Even if she tries breaking every words into syllables just to explain how risky Raines Corporation is, Arya still won’t believe her.

She took her boss as the most simplicity man on earth, and there was no guile in him. Like wtf!

Some thing isn’t right about all this. And for the fact that he had given her a day off, it’s enough to tell that he actually has a hand after what’s going on in Arya’s life.

Maybe… Just maybe he has seen how stressed out and tiring it was for Arya to see things she shouldn’t, so he had to act so sympathetic by giving her a day off.

He’s got a thing to do with this.

Arya woke up, yawning tiredly. She looked over to Lily’s bed, she wasn’t there. She’ll probably be in the kitchen. She thought.

She checked on the time, she can’t believe she could sleep this long.

” Thank goodness I ain’t going to work today, Mr Adrian could have fired me already. ” She muttered to herself as she headed for the door.

Lily was on a call when she got to the dinning and she could hear her conversation.

Lily leaning against the counter meant something. There’s a possibility that the conversation was an interesting one.

She waved at Arya who waved back at her. ” I made you coffee.” She mouthed, pointing at the flask of coffee just beside her.

Arya went to pour herself a cup of coffee, leaning against the table which stood opposite the counter Lily leaned.

” I’ll see what I can do about that. Maybe today or tomorrow I’ll be coming over. ” She said to the receiver.

Lily kept nodding at whatever the other person was saying. ” It shouldn’t be a must to come over today, right? Though it’s still morning but, I can’t possibly make it out today.

I’ve got a lot to do today. I’ve got some dirty clothes to watch and shopping to go. So, I’ll try making it by tomorrow morning. ”

” Okay. But remember, we have to meet at Mathias house, that’s where we are all going to spend the nights. ” Said the femenine voice.

” See you tomorrow then. ” She said, hanging up the call.

She sighed.

” What’s happening tomorrow morning?” Arya ask without hesitation.

” It’s Olivia, she said we all are meeting at Mathias house.” She replied.

” Is there a problem? ” Arya asked, folding her arms.

” No. We’ve got a brief meeting with our past lectures. She said they have some few words for us. Plus, students who still owes some debts will be coming to pay it up.

Then after that, we’ll be having old boys and girls little party. ” She smiled.

” At Mathias home? ” She asked.

” Yeah. Mathias has been the most richest guy in our school. He was every girls dream. And talking of his home, it’s extra large to accommodate a hundred people. So, don’t worry. ”

” I’m not worrying. What if his parents finds out about this… old boys and girls party? ”

” Well, from the few I’ve heard about him, he doesn’t live with his parents since he got admitted into college. He’s been living alone. ”

” Why? ” She asked again. ” What happened? ”

” You’re asking his girlfriend? ” Lily scoffed.

Arya playfully eyed her. ” So, that means you’re gonna leave me alone for two days? ”

” It should have been three, you’re lucky I had to lie in order to stay with you. ”

” You didn’t have any dirty clothes, and you aren’t going for any shopping, are you? ” She gave her a questioning look.

Lily shrugged. ” Like I said, just giving you a luck. Who knows what might happen if I go today? You might end up convulsing in your dreams or who-knows. ”

” I’m fine, Lil. I really am. I think it’s time you guys stop bothering about things like that happening to me. Now that I remember about the night at the cinema, as soon as I remember everything I have lost, I don’t see any reason why all this will keep happening to me. ”

” I’m happy you’ve learned. ” Lily smiled.

Arya didn’t want to say how troubled she really was that Lily was leaving the next day.

Thankfully she’ll be returning back to work, but that doesn’t sound like a relief to her. Who was gonna spend the night with her?

Lily has gone to start packing. She took with her just a few stuffs. That is, her night gown and two casual clothes and two canvas.

She didn’t want to show Lily how troubled she was but honestly, she really is.

” What if your boss asks you if you did remember anything, what will you tell him?” Lily asked.

” I’ll tell him the truth. ” She simply said.

” Arya, you have to be very careful with people. Not everyone are what or who you think they are.” Lily said coldly.

” What are you trying to say, Lil?” She asked.

” I still don’t trust Mr Raines for any reason. He might be your boss, I understand that but, I don’t have a good feeling about his personality.” She complained.

Arya smiled. ” Mr Raines is a good man, I’m for sure about that. He’s protective towards his workers and he cares. Honestly. He wouldn’t cause any harm to any of us.

Even now, he is concerned about my condition and that is why he gave me a day break. Like who does that? It’s not even up to a month I started as his assistant, yet he gave me a chance to rest.

If there’s anyone to be bothered about, I don’t think it should be Mr Adrian.”

I honestly don’t know what to say about this😔 Why would Lily suspect Mr Adrian?

And why is Arya been so supportive of him?

Do you think Lily’s curiosity will lead to Arya finding out about Mr Adrian’s true identity??🤔🤔
