Chapter 3&4: THE VAMPIRE.

The elevator door open and she walked in the basement archives.
“ Uhm… okay… not what I expected.” She muttered to herself.
“ What are you doing here?” said the archive clerk.
She was startled by the old clerk with a deep scowl and an old fashioned suit. “ Uhm.. My name is Arya Stark..” she stretches her hand for a handshake but he didn’t return it.
She puts her hand down, “ I am here to pick up some items for Mr Raines.”she said.
The clerk gave her stern look.
“ Some gifts he requested for his guests.”
“ And who are you to him?” He asked.
“ I am his assistant.” She answered.
“ Do you have any authorization form with you?” he asked.
“ Authorization? No, I…”
He turns to leave but Arya stopped him. “ Wait! I’m sorry, sir! Please just give me a moment.”
He stopped, turning to her. “You”ve got one moment.”
“ I’m Mr Raines’ new assistant. I just started today.” She said, hoping that was good enough to convince him.
“ I didn’t realize I needed an authorization form, but Mr. Raines himself requested that I come speak to you directly.”
The clerk stared at her for a while. Not saying anything, he grunts and disappeared down a dark aisle of shelves.
Arya waited patiently for him to show up. A few moment later, he appeared with a carved wooden box in his hands.
“ Is that… everything?” she asked.
“ Do you still need more?” Arya adjusted her glasses, not saying a word to his rude question. “ It contains three things. Do not get it wrong.”
“ Get what wrong?”
He reaches into the box, pulling out an engraved silver dagger. “ This is for Mr Castel. It’s from the 14th century.” He carefully placed the dagger back into the box, and next he brought out a gold Egyptian necklace, encrusted with precious stones.
“ That’s beautiful.” She complimented.
“ This necklace is 2200 years old from the ancient time of Queen Mandeline. It is intended for Ms. Meyers.”
“ Got it. Anything else?” she asked.
The clerk pulls out the last item from the box, a tiny glass filled with a red powder and sealed with a tiny cork.
“ Mandrake extract. That is for Mr Raines himself.” He said, handing her the wooden box.
“ Dagger, necklace, mandrake. Got it.”
She got back to the elevator, carefully cradling the box and its precious contents. She held the mandrake in her hand, carefully studying the reddish content in it.
She tuck the bottle into her pocket and knocked on the door. Nicole opened it. “ Please, come in.” she said.
Arya walked in, dropping it on the table. Her eyes gazed at the two guest sitting on the massive table.
A stunning elegant woman and a sweaty, older man who looks almost like he was in his early 50’s.
“ This is Arya Stack, my new assistant.” He introduced. “ Miss Stark, this is Kamilah Meyers, CEO of Grand Star Financial.”
“ A pleasure to meet you, Miss Meyers.” She greeted with a smile.
“ I, on the other hand would be more than happy to shake your hand, gorgeous…”
“ And this is Lester Castel, of Castellanos Meats.” He interrupted, giving him an angry look.
Lester stood up, grabbing Arya’s hand. “ What a beautiful hand.” He said.
He bends his head to k-ss it, then Arya looked over to Adrian. Fast, impossibly fast, he grabs Lester’s wrist and slams his hand on the table.
“ Hands to yourself, Lester.” He said, anger written on his face.
“ Arrgh!” Lester gro-ned, rubbing his affected wrist.
“ Lester, you have to behave yourself. This is the 21th century.” Kamilah reminded.
“ Whatever.” He cradles his hand as he sat back on his seat.
“ I apologize, Miss Stark for Lester’s behaviour since he doesn’t have the manner to do it himself. Are you okay?” he asked.
“ Yes, I am. Thank you.” She replied with a nod.
“ You can continue with your duty.” Looks at Nicole, “ Can you do the honour of giving our guests their little present?”
Arya left the conference room back to the lobby. She sat on her seat, going through the company files on her desk.
While she waited for the meeting to be over, she picked up her phone and texted to her roommate Lily.
“ Hey, Lily.” She texted.
Immediately, Lily texted back. “ Where are you?”
“ I’m still at the company. There’s a meeting going on and it’s gonna take a little longer. Do I stay or come home?”
“ It’s your first day. Stay. It’s not like you have plans.”
“ Yeah… I guess he did say I’d have to work some nights.”
“ You have to be careful, Arya. Been more weird attacks all over the city.”
“ More?”
“ Don’t act like you don’t know whats happening in the city. And you don’t wanna be among the next victims.’’
‘ I’ll see what I can do before then. Gotta go! Later!”
It took about a wh0le three hours before the meeting was over. Arya checked on her wrist watch, it was 5pm.
The door to the conference room opened, Mr Raines walked Ms. Meyers and Mr Castel to the elevator before returning back to the lobby.
“ Your’e still here?” he asked, surprised to see she was still on duty.
“ Well, I wasn’t sure if you still needed me.”
“ It’s okay.” Checking on his wrist watch, he said. “ You are welcome to go home now, I don’t want to keep you any later.”
He headed to his office. Arya began to pack her stuffs into her bag, checking if she was forgetting something.
She held her bag, using the elevator, she headed straight home.
Lily rushed to open the door for Arya who has been knocking for almost three minutes now. The sound of the video game made it very impossible for her to hear the countless knock on the door.
“ Hey!” Lily said, excited to see Arya. “ How was your new job?”
“ It was good. But, I’ll tell you after I take a cold shower.”
“ Okay, I’ll be waiting.” She sat back on the couch to continue the video game while Arya heads straight to the bathroom.
On reaching there, her gaze met with Lily’s red towel. Something about the colour reminds her something she was forgetting.
“ Oh, no.” she touched her side pocket, pulling the small glass of red powder out of her pocket. “ I can’t believe I forgot to give this to Mr Raines.”
She rushed back to the where Lily was, picking her bag from the couch she had dropped it.
“ Where are you going?” lily asked.
“ I forgot to give this to Mr Raines.” She said, raising the small bottle for Lily to see.
“ What’s that for?”
“ I don’t know, but I’ll explain it all to you when I get back.” She said making her way to the door.
“ Be careful!”
Arya dashed back to the office, she begged the security guards to let her in. She took the elevator which was more faster for her.
She walked pass her desk. From underneath the door to Adrian’s office, she could see a crack of faint light.
“ Phew…” she sighed in relief. “ Thank goodness he is still here.”
She twisted the door knob, gently pushing it open. “ Mr Raines…” she gasped, her eyes flew open. “ Oh my god!”
Adrian rose his head up, staring at her.
“ AAHHHHHHH!!” She scre-med.
Arya turned to run, terrified but quicker than a flash of lightening, Adrian leaps off the desk, dashing to her.
He slammed the door close with one hand, making it impossible for her to leave. “ I… I… Please…” she pleaded, as she moves backward, until she was leaning against the wall.
Then suddenly, Nicole’s voice cuts in. “ How dare you walk into the boss’s office without knocking? Have you lost your manners?!”
Arya turned, surprised to see Nicole sit up and casually button up her blouse with a furious look in her eyes.
“ He was… You were..” she stammered, confused at what just happened few seconds again.
Adrian walks back to his desk, he took a handkerchief out of a drawer and hands it to Nicole. “ Thank you.” She moves her head to the side, while she used the handkerchief to clean up the blood on her neck.
Adrian slightly bite his fingertip, pressing his finger to Nicole’s neck and the wound healed instantly.
Nicole again, wipes her neck with the white cloth. She turned to Arya who was frighteningly watching what was going on.
“ Now listen to me, Miss Stark, you do not ever walk into Mr Raines’s office, unannounced. Understood?”
“ But he was…” she looked at him.
“ Yes?” He said, expecting her to complete her statement.
“ Your’e… your’e…” She stammered.
“ A vampire.” He completed. “ I’ll admit, I didn’t think you’d find out quite so soon.”
“ But… I don’t understand, I thought vampires doesn’t exist.”
“ Well, now you’ve seen we do exist and a lot of my kind too are all over the city.” He smiled.
“ You aren’t letting her go with the truth, are you?” Nicole asked.
“ Excuse me, what are you talking about?” Arya glared at the both of them with a furious looks.
“ Don’t worry, Miss Stark, I ain’t doing anything to you.”
