Epilogue πŸ’•πŸ’• fifif
I recommend another song! Comethru- by Jeremy Zucker.

It was another Christmas, another one of many that Lee had spent without Chan. She stepped out of the airport, a beige scarf wrapped around her neck, and the chill winter air hit her like a train. Geez, if she had thought the air back abroad was chilly, it was almost nothing compared to how cold it was in this their city. Sometime she wondered if the mainland was on the edge of the world.

As she pulled her bag and luggage to where she would get a taxi, she reminisced about just how much had gone on in these past few years. After two and a half years of extensive training with Mr Erwin, she had managed to get into the prestigious music school, Juilliard. She had been ecstatic as she knew that it was only God’s grace that had gotten her this far.

It had now been almost seven years since she had last seen Chan physically. Though they had chatted from time to time, especially since Aster always made sure to call her and their mom, it wasn’t something that had been regular or diligent.

They were both chasing their lives and dreams, and sometimes, it’s easy to lose friendshΒ‘ps and relationshΒ‘ps when one is pursuing their ambitions. And though her heart had ached at being away from him for so long, she wasn’t going to give up on her dream again, and she knew he understood that.

After loading her bags into the trunk of the taxi, she clambered in, Sweetly telling the man at the wheel her destination. Aster was supposed to come pick her up, but he had said he was busy, and that she would have to come meet him instead.

She sighed as the taxi began to rumble along the road, taking in the beautiful snow coated environment and also wrapping her cardigan tighter around her body. Even with the heater in the car on, it was still freezing.

During the time that she had been away, apparently Mr Erwin and Chan had gotten to know each other much better, and he had been more than happy to tell Chan as much as he had wanted to know about Amelia.

She opened her Instagram and began to scroll through it lazily, stopping to crack a wistful smile at her brother’s instastory, on it plastered a snapshot of he and Cynthia, smiling brightly, conspicuously showing off the wedding bands on their fingers. The caption was short but straight to the point.

“She said yes!”

Lee chuckled to herself. Man, it would be so busy now that they had a wedding to plan.

She sighed to herself as the car continued to trudge along the snow covered streets. Her music career had already kick-started in high gear, and not to blow her own horn, but she was pretty famous herself.

She was a bit annoyed that the taxi man hadn’t recognized her or asked for an autograph, before chastising herself to not let her fame go to her head, and not pull a Chan.

Pull a Chan. Haha.

Well, the old Chan, to be more exact.

The taxi finally rumbled to a halt in front of a very upscale apartment complex, and Lee whΒ‘pped out her phone to call her brother.

She whistled to herself as the line trilled. She knew Aster was also making it big, bit geez, this was something else. He had to be rolling in big money to afford an apartment in this neighborhood. Well, not that she knew much about the mainland city anyway, this was her first time here.

But she knew something expensive when she saw it.

Apart from the fact that being Chan’s lead back up dancer had opened numerous doors for him, he had also opened his own dancing school, and he was very successful with upcoming artists, or idol trainees, or even small scale artists who wanted to become professionals. So she guessed seeing him living big wasn’t really that surprising.

“Hey, Lee! Are you here already?”

Lee snorted at the excitement in his voice.

“Yes I am, you big doofus.”

She heard him chuckle over the phone.

“Okay. I’m in apartment 20B”

Wow. Top floor. Nice.

She gave him another snarky comment and entered the building, heading straight for the elevator.

She pressed the button, and the elevator began to whir.

As it went up, she leaned against the cool wall.

She’d be lying if she said she didn’t miss Chan, terribly. But at this point, she didn’t really know if there was still any chance for both of them at all.

He was a huge celebrity, and she wasn’t sure if she wanted to be in a relationshΒ‘p where they would have to move around in secret.

And it was one thing if they had been in touch for the six years they hadn’t seen each other, but they really hadn’t.

She rubbed her forehead. Now was not the time to give herself a headache. Right now she was going to spend Christmas with her brother and his soon to be wife.

‘You’re really an idiot, aren’t you, Lee? You’re surrounded by people close to him, and you think that you won’t see him, pssht.’

Her inner voice chided her and she gro-ned. She secretly hoped that she wouldn’t be awkward around him, because God knows she still loved him so much.

The doors chimed, then slid open. She walked briskly until she arrived at her brother’s room door, then pressed the doorbell firmly.

She couldn’t place it, but something was making her feel excited.

The door buzzed and opened after a few seconds, and her brother stood tall before her, smiling so widely she thought his cheeks would tear.

“Little sis! It’s been ages! Look at you! You’ve become a woman now!”

She pushed him off her.

“Don’t get weird, Aster.”

He burst into laughter, ruffling her hair. “And you haven’t changed one bit.”

“You’ve changed a lot.” She mumbled out as she began to enter the apartment, taking off her shoes.

“Ah, it’s the hair isn’t it?” Aster replied gaily, gesturing at his hair, which he had dyed a deep shade of brown, instead of the usual and natural crimson that it used to be.

Lee rolled her eyes. “It’s not just that. You’re going to be a married man soon.”

She saw her brother cringe and she gagged.

“Haha. I’m nervous about it too!”

She frowned at him in frustration.

“You proposed to her didn’t you…..”

Her words were cut short when she saw someone seated on the couch in the posh and tastefully furnished living room, his back to them.

She heard her brother chuckle behind her, and she could practically see him grinning mischievously.

“Did I forget to tell you that you had a guest? As soon as I said you were coming over for the holidays, he could barely hold in his excitement. I’m surprised he lasted this long anyway.” Her brother drawled teasingly, and Lee wished the ground would open up and swallow him.

The person before them began to stand up slowly, and Aster excused himself.

“I’ll leave you two alone. Gotta go call my mother.” He said, barely masking his laughter.

Lee felt a blush creeping up her cheeks as the man turned around. His features looked more defined, with a very kind look in his eyes.

There were lines in his face, symbolic of him aging, but to her, he didn’t look any different than the last time she had seen him.

It only stood to remind her just how long she had been away from him. Too long.

He smiled at her, his l-ips curling upward and creating creases in his perfect features, and she felt her heart skipping a beat.

“Hi, Lee.” He said softly and Lee smiled back.

Guess their story wasn’t over yet.
