MY BIRTHDAY PARTY
Episode 14.
 
Lily and Winifred didn’t know when they slept off on the bed, but the knock on the door woke Lily up. She gently raised her head from Winifred shoulders, patted her hair and got up to check who it was.
She opened up to see Joseph “good. Evening dear, he greeted but she only hissed and entered the house leaving the door open which he slowly walked in.
 
“I’m sorry, I know sometimes I do get mad but I can’t stand mad at you for too long you know that, Joseph said taking her hand but she beat his hand off then he saw Winifred and her face wasn’t good at all.
“What’s wrong with her? He asked.
“Nothing, she’s fine, Lily replied.
He was tempted to ask more further but he had to concentrate on Lily, to him it wasn’t the time to break her off yet.
 
“Baby I’m sorry okay, say something to me please, Joseph said.
“Am tired, was all Lily said and Joseph looked at her.
“You mean? He asked her.
“I need a break, maybe you need it too so you’ll know what you want, Lily said.
“I have never said this to you right? Why are you doing this in just a misunderstanding and you’re breaking up with me? Joseph asked.
“Its just a break……. “What difference does it make? Looks like you wanted saying this to me a long time but you were just waiting for a chance to do so, Joseph said.
 
“That’s not true and you know it, Lily said.
“Its fine, you’re free don’t hold it back, Joseph said and got up to leave but she held him back.
“Am sorry, I love you Joseph and you know its true, Lily said with a teary eyes and Joseph gently touched her face and k-ssed her.
Winifred gently opened her eyes looking at them as her heart was pounding with anger,
“Don’t worry Joseph, you’ve succeeded in sending Oliver away, I’ll continue from where he stopped and this game will finally be over, she said in her heart and sat up.
 
Joseph saw her and broke the k-ss with Winifred, “your eyes look dull, were you crying? He asked wanting to touch her face but she shifted away smiling.
“Its nothing, I just had slight stomach upset but am cool. Glad to see you two back, Winifred said.
“Erm yea, but are you sure the upset is over? It might come back. I’ll take you to the hospital, Joseph said.
“No seriously its gone. I rushed my food earlier and I got the result, so everything is settled now don’t bother. So when are you going to invite us to your place? You know we long to give you a visit not just you visiting us here, Winifred playfully said.
 
‘You want to come to my place? Joseph calmly asked.
“Yes we want to, Winifred replied.
“OK I’ll arrange for that, Joseph said.
“Really? I thought you didn’t want me to? Lily asked.
“Don’t worry, I will arrange for that. Before I forget, we haven’t done anything yet about your birthday party Winifred, start inviting your friends because its going to be big, Joseph said shifting the topic aside.
 
“You haven’t forgotten about it? Winifred asked.
“I wouldn’t dare. So what’s your favorite colors?…. No no no don’t tell me, its purple and white right? Joseph said and Lily was surprised how he got to know that.
“Yea thats right, Winifred replied scratching her head.
“Perfect, I’ll call up a cake designer to give you the best and delicious cake ever in your colors, Joseph said.
“Uhmm I’m speechless, Winifred said nodding.
“What do you think dear? Joseph asked Lily.
 
“Yea it will look colourful, thats a beautiful and matured color anyway, Lily replied and sat down leaving Joseph to be the only one standing.
“Yea, Winifred always choose the best. For your dress and shoes for your day, I’ll get it ordered. Tomorrow I’ll bring you some samples so you’ll pick your choice, Joseph said and Winifred and Lily exchanged glances.
 
“Wait a minute, is it my wedding you are talking about here? Winifred asked.
“Its your first time so dear make it sweet and memorable, Joseph replied.
“Is all this necessary? I can always get my dress at the boutique what’s there? Please I don’t need it thanks, Winifred said.
“Thats no problem, I’ll take you to the boutique when the time comes, Joseph said and Lily was just quiet looking at him.
 
“Have you ever done this for me? Lily asked without knowing and Joseph smiled and touched her cheeks.
“Do you know what I’m planning for you? Dear I won’t be jealous if I were you, Joseph said and pecked her playfully.
“Its still not fair, Lily said with a frown.
“Let’s do this for her, cause when I’ll do yours, the city will shake and thousands will be jealous, Joseph said tickling her and she burst out laughing.
“Oh please you better be sure of that, Lily said but Winifred was only smiling with a lot going through her head.
 
“That will be expensive you know, just wondering how you’ll get it done, Winifred said.
“You mean? Joseph asked.
“Sorry, but I can’t help but ask, where do you work? Winifred asked.
“Winifred! Lily shouted that made Winifred shook.
“Why the shout! Joseph shouted on Lily back that her eyes bulged out.
“Seriously? Lily asked.
 
“Yes, the shout wasn’t necessary. She’s only concerned, besides her question is harmless which you’ve never asked me that, Joseph said.
“What! I’ve never asked you that like you’ve answered every questions I’ve been asking, Lily said.
“Please am sorry I didn’t expect it will burst out this way, please am so sorry, Winifred came in seeing how fierce the situation was.
 
“Its okay, we were not fighting anyway. I’m sorry if I got you angry, Joseph said holding Lily but she only beat his hand off and left the house.
Joseph smirked and fell on the bed looking at Winifred, “what happened to you? I know you too well and you can’t lie to me, Joseph said.
“Aren’t you going after her? Winifred asked.
“What for, let her go for all I care. Now let’s talk about us, you accepted we are now best friends yet you don’t treat me as one why? He asked and Winifred heaved and threw her hair backwards.
 
“How? She asked.
“You don’t have my number so we can talk on phone, He said.
“Is that necessary when you check on us like a fowl checking her eggs, Winifred said and he smiled.
“You’re an egg Winifred, and I don’t mind checking up on you every second. I just want to be sure you’re safe and I need to be close to you that’d why i used your friend, that’s just how much I love you Winifred, Joseph said and Winifred heaved.
“So my friend is the fool here, then you keep piling her head with fantasies that will never be, Winifred said.
“That’s just the sacrifice she has to pay so we can be together, he said.
“How many persons had paid this sacrifice? She asked.
“Many, Honey let’s not talk about this. How many guests will you be expecting on your birthday so I’ll know my budget, he said.
“Where do you work Joseph? She asked.
“Self employed baby, OK i have to leave So lily won’t grow horns of suspicion and jealously, he said getting up from the bed and approached her smiling.
 
Winifred carefully saved the recording on her phone with her eyes fixed on Joseph, he bent his face on her neck and k-ssed her, “remember I love you more than i can explain, good night love, He said and left while Winifred sat quiet.
 
Lily felt chocked up in there and had to go out for a stroll to get fresh air, “what’s this closeness between Joseph and Winifred? They weren’t like this and then suddenly Winifred Is already smiling with him and he’s planning big for her birthday party like its one wedding. Funny Winifred just ask to visit him and he already accepted, she went ahead to ask where he works and he didn’t get offended with it, but let me try that, the spark of his eyes can make a heavy rain fall but he called it a harmless question. Looks cool anyway, she said weighing her self against a tree talking all alone.
 
“Lily, she heard her name and turned to see Patrick.
“Are you monitoring me? She asked.
“No, I just saw you and you didn’t look good. What’s wrong? He asked but she only walked away.
He wanted following her but he sighted Joseph and hid himself, Lily looked back but couldn’t find him again and then she saw Joseph approaching.
 
“Where did you go to? Its late already and you made me looking to you, Joseph asked her and she smirked.
“That should be my business not yours okay, and why do you care? she replied.
“OK i think i understand all this pranks you’re putting up, just tell me there’s another guy okay, Joseph said.
“Same as you have another girl, when will you introduce her to me? Lily asked.
“You’ll not love to know who it is, so don’t pray for it to be that soon, Joseph whispered in her ears and after some seconds burst out laughing at her.
 
“Do you know how you look like with that face you’re keeping. Common stop being paranoid and making issues out of nothing. Am so sorry okay, I said I’m sorry, Joseph said carrying her up.
 
“Stop stop put me down people are watching, Lily said.
“Its a lie, I’ll take you this way home so that guy and that girl will see us. Besides where does he stay? Joseph asked and Lily laughed.
“You’re crazy just put me down please its too embarrassing, Lily said and he kept her down.
“Do you feel better now? Let’s go home, Joseph said taking her hands while Lily was just smiling.
 
Patrick who had been there all this while watching the wh0le drama came out looking at them going with so much anger.
“I can’t stop loving you Lily, but It hurts more that you’re treated this way and you don’t want me to help you out. Please give me a chance to help you, Patrick said in his heart and slowly left.
 
Lily saw Joseph off and got in after he drove off, “lily am so sorry if i got you angry, please its not what you’re thinking, Winifred got up immediately when she got in.
“Don’t worry we’ve settled it, but sometimes its like you both have the hotter line of the love story, Lily said.
“Are you kidding me, oh please I have to shower now, Winifred said smiling……
