MY BIRTHDAY PARTY
Episode 16.
 
The next day Winifred dressed up for morning mass leaving Lily behind at home.
On the way she met with Joseph and he stopped the car, “where are you going to? He asked.
“Church, she replied.
“I’ll take you there, Joseph said.
“No don’t bother, Winifred said.
“No I insist, Joseph said opening the door for her and she reluctantly went in.
 
“I wanted seeing you, I guess there’s no need going back to the house, Joseph said to her while driving.
“When you said there are people who have made sacrifices for us to be together, what did you mean by that? Winifred asked.
“Are we still talking about this? He asked.
“Yuh got me worried, Lily is going through a lot already, how many more have you hurt? Winifred calmly said and he looked at her.
“Everything I do is for you, I take every chances I see so I can be with you. So please worry no more, everything will be fine okay, Joseph replied and she heaved shaking her head.
 
“So when are we visiting? She asked.
“Soon, he replied.
“Does it have to take you a long time just to know your house? She asked.
“OK, will tomorrow be fine? He asked.
“Sure, I’ll let Lily know. So are you picking us up or you’ll drop the address? She asked.
“I’ll pick you up. You know I am only doing this for you, he said.
“Yea I know. OK I’m dropping here, Winifred said.
“Should I pick you up later? He asked.
“Nah don’t bother. Thanks anyway, bye, She said waving at him and left…..
 
After service someone approached her and it was Patrick, “hi, she said shaking hands with him.
“Winifred can we please talk? You’re the only one I can come to now, Patrick said.
“Its okay let’s go, She said and he drove off with her to a quiet place.
“Lily told me what happened yesterday, she was hurt saying you showed yourself to her yet you couldn’t tell her any reasonable thing, Winifred said when they sat down.
 
“Winifred where should I begin to tell her when she was saying strange things I don’t understand. I am so confused, Patrick said.
“A picture was sent to her showing you and some kind of girl k-ssing in the club. You know very well Lily despises cheating, she was mad at you and didn’t want to see you those times she always shout at you and sends you off when you do come around. I was able to talk to her to try hear you out, but then she visited you only to see you’ve eloped already. Lily was only mad at you but she was still in love with you, but you leaving her that way left her broken. Now what can you say about that? Winifred asked him when he was so quiet looking at her.
 
“There’s this guy that keeps attacking me warning me to stay clear from Lily. I’ve told her severally about this guy and his attacks became more serious and deadly. I was laid off from work, with that anger I went to the club to cool my head off with drinks. Then this lady came around forcing herself on me, I was pushing her off telling her to clear from me but she kept doing it till she pressed her l-ips hærd against mine. Suddenly she left me saying I’m no fun for her and walked away. That was embarrassing to me because eyes were watching so I finished up my drink and went home.
But that night unknown to me, 2 guys were already in my house and in my weakness, they beat me black and blue asking me to leave and never return. I woke up in the hospital and when i was discharged I saw Lily pushing me away and ignoring my calls. I was confused and didn’t know what to do when my life here was in danger and the woman I’ve ever loved is pushing me away. I had to leave because I had no choice, but that didn’t stop me from loving Lily. But behold I heard she’s going out with another guy and it turned out to be the guy that has been a torn to my flesh. But what will I do? She loves him so much and thats what hurts most, Patrick narrated that made Winifred speechless.
 
“Oh no, I’m so sorry for that but please don’t give up on Lily. That guy is only using her which I’m working on a plan, Winifred said.
“What are you talking about? He asked and Winifred carefully told him everything.
“The guy that was with me on this suddenly just left after his house was destroyed and he barely survived the attack. Please don’t give up on Lily, somewhere in her heart is still owned by you and when she get to find out who Joseph really is, all this will be over, Winifred said.
 
“What if we let her know? He asked.
“Joseph is smart and he will find a way out of this unpunished, that’s why we need to pin him on the throat first. I promise you things will work out fine, Winifred said.
“I hope it does fast, please can I have your number? He asked.
“Sure, Winifred replied giving her phone………..
 
Stella visited that morning and met everyone waiting for her.
“Sorry did I keep you guys waiting? She asked.
“Nope, they replied.
“Okay, so where are we? She asked.
“This is it, its flat and has a chameleon nature,that makes it more useful because it won’t be easily found. It has been set and programmed already, ready to be used this night, the investigator said giving her the pack.
“Won’t it be suspicious if they see me bringing this pack out……… “You can fix this in this handkerchief. All you have to do is pull one out and playfully rub it on the wall, just that, the investigator interrupted her.
“OK then fix it yourself, Stella said bringing out her handkerchief and the investigator placed it in it and handed it over to her.
“We are done right? Stella asked.
“Yes, the investigator replied.
“Really, what about the club? She asked.
 
“Oh my bad! Its the Jazz moon club, the investigator replied.
“OK sounds cool, she said nodding.
“Stella please if you find anything funny in there or any thing fishy, please leave. I don’t want you to get involved in my problems, Oliver said and she smiled.
“Don’t worry I’ll be fine. Please don’t sound too sweet so i won’t cry, she said.
“I’m serious dear and please do call me up so i won’t die of worry, Oliver said.
“Okay I will I promise. I have to go now, I’ll hint you guys later, she said getting up.
“Alright babe, good luck. I know you can do this, Alfred said.
“Sure, thanks for giving me more vibes, she said and they laughed as they esc-rted her out…….
 
Winifred got home but couldn’t stop looking at Lily, “hey you’ve been stealing gazes at me, what’s wrong? Do you find me attractive now? Lily asked.
“Indeed, can we talk about Patrick? She asked.
“Sorry? Lily asked.
“Yes Patrick, same way you wanted talking about Oliver, Winifred said.
“What’s there to talk about? Besides Oliver and Patrick is different, lily said.
“What makes them different? They both left us and we both loved them isn’t it? Winifred asked.
“And so? Lily asked.
 
“What if something is making them leave? What if its not their intention to leave? Winifred asked.
“I guess you’ve seen Patrick, this discussion can only tell that, Lily said.
“Yes i did, how did you become this insensitive? Has Patrick been telling you of a guy who has been attacking him? What did you do about it? Okay you saw the photograph of Patrick and a lady k-ssing, did you ask yourself who snapped them and for what purpose? You concluded he is cheating and slammed him whenever he comes around you which you couldn’t notice anything wrong with him like he was just discharged from the hospital. Sometimes I think that you only care about yourself and thats just the truth, Winifred poured out her heart that made Lily speechless.
 
There was a long silence that issued between the ladies but the knock on the door brought them back to their senses.
Winifred opened the door and Joseph walked in, “I need some fresh air, Winifred said and left the house immediately.
 
Joseph stood confused as Lily was not looking at him either but lost in thought, “what’s going on here? He blurted out.
‘Please just leave me alone, I want to think straight, Lily said.
“You mean i should go? He asked.
“Yes go, just get out! Lily shouted on him……..
