ANDREA POV

I got to my destination and I told the guards that am a friend of the person living there and they were at first doubtful about me and so they made a call to the owner.

At first I thought that she will refuse me but I was surprised when I was told to go in, I never thought that after what happen at school today, she will let me into her house

I was still looking around the big mansion when Brenda walked out of the house.

“Good evening”I greeted

“Why are you here?”She asked looking more surprised than any thing else.

“I never thought that you will be Coming here, after what you did “She said

“I have no place to go that is why I came here”

“Why would you pick my place out if every where to go to” she asked

“Because you were the only one who didn’t say a thing, your eyes weren’t condemning like the rest”I said softly

“Just because I didn’t ask any question doesn’t mean am not mad at you”She said

“I know that what I did is upsetting and am sorry about it, can I stay at your house tonight, I have no where to go”I said

“No! I don’t want you at my house, just go”she said and went back to her house.

She was my only hope, every one else was angry but she wasn’t and I thought that she will be willing to help but it turns out that she is also angry.

I turned to leave only to hear the door open again.

“I will let you stay only if you tell me why you lied”She said and i smiled at her

Though she might be angry, she wouldnt let me sleep out on the streets, I thought as I gave her a smile.

“What did your father say about my staying?”I asked as I stood in her room, waiting for her to come in.

“Nothing, my friends coming to stay in my house is none of his business just as his work and love life is none of my business too, so come,tell me why you lied”She said as she pulled me to her bed.

“It’s a long story, would you still want to listen to it?”I asked

“I have all the time in the world, you see when every one was judging you, I kept quiet only because I knew that there must be a reason for you lying to us, I wanted you to say it back then but when you didn’t I was a bit disasapointed”she said

“What about Beatrice? Is she disasapointed or angry at me?”I asked

“I wouldn’t say she is disappointed but instead I will say she sad,. You didn’t trust us enough to tell us the truth, that really hurts, you know after you left, she was very said, she couldn’t stop crying”She added

“Am sorry, I didn’t mean to keep it a secret and I trust both you and Brenda”I said

“Then why did you keep it a lie?”She asked

“Because I didn’t want you to hate me, I didn’t want you to be disappointed in me, you see in my former school, I was bullied and that was because they found out I was poor, my mom is some one who is obsessed about sending me to a rich school”

“But why insist on sending you to a rich school, she could have send you to a public school.”She said

” I once asked her that and she said that she didn’t want me to be like her, you see she went to a public school, did her best to finish college and when it was time for her to get a job, she didn’t get one and that is because of the poor school she attended, no one would accept her even when she good, after searching for jobs and not finding one, she decided to get a pick up jobs, she did all sort of jobs and that was to save up for me, she didn’t want me to be her ”

“For years I had to watch her work her self to the bone and some times I blame myself for it but I can’t keep on blaming myself forever, all I have to do is to make sure her effort on me works out, so I lied just to be free of other students criticising me and also to be free from being bullied”I finished softly

“But you shouldn’t be afraid Andrea, you should have come out with the truth and if any one still condemned you, we would have fought for you, You should be proud of your mom, she works as a maid and yet she pays for your school tuition, if I were you I would have proudly told every one about my mom””Brenda said softly

“I know right! Am a coward”I added softly

“No you are not ,you were scared of being bullied and so you told us all a lie, you did it to protect your self”She said assuring me and I hugged her.

“Thank you Brenda, thanks for not judging me”I said

“That’s because I now know the reason you lied, am sure that if the others know about this too, they will understand”She replied as she gave me a tight hug

“Will Beatrice under stand too?”I asked

“Yes she will, once she knows why you did it”She said and i gave her a smile.

“You know it’s been long since have had a sleep over, I like it that you are here”She said happily

Just then my phone began to ring again and it was Max.

“Who is that? Oh its Max”She said as she saw the caller.

“You can pick, I will give you privacy if you want”

“No don’t worry, I won’t be picking his call”I said as I caught the call.

“I think you should pick it, he has been worried about you, as soon as you left he came running in and he was not even in his uniform and when Joshua said some thing rude about you, he was about to hit him, of Geoffrey hadn’t held him back, the guy would have ended at a hospital, Some how I think that he is very protective of you and now that I think about it, he always accompany us if you are there, could it be that…….”

“Max and i like each other”I said and she stared at me in surprise

“I don’t want any secrets between us that is why have decided to tell you this, you are the first one am telling”I said

“You two like each other, I just can’t believe it”She said

“Why can’t you ?”

“Max strikes me as some one who doesn’t like a girl, you know I kind of see him as the player type”She said and i smiled wistfully

“He is not a player, Max is sweet and kind and too good for me, we were dating secretly for a week and I can say that he made me the most happiest girl during that week”I said having a sad look

“Wow, how can you keep such thing a secret from me”She said

“I had to keep it a secret because I didn’t want people talking and also because of his mind who wants Rose for him”I said

“That’s right! I heard that they got engaged? What about you!”she asked

“What do you think, we had to break up “I said

“But he still calling you and the way he acted when he was looking for you, I think he still cares about you” she said

“He still care about me,he still loves me and I still love him but he can’t be with me and I can’t be wit h him, I shouldn’t have set my eyes on him, I should have stayed away but I had foolishly let my heart go to him, I love him but he can never be mine and so it’s best that I stay away from him”I said

“Oh you poor thing “Brenda said as she pulled me to a hug.

ANDREA POV

I woke up still feeling worked up about what happened yesterday.

I sat up and saw both my uniform and Brenda uniform on the bed, how efficient the maids are? I thought and just then Brenda walked out of the bathroom

“Oh you are up! I didn’t want to wake you up because you slept late last night, common go and have a shower so we can go to school”she said

“Am not going”I said softly

“Is it because of what happened yesterday?”she asked as she stared at me

“Am just not ready to face any one yet,do you mind if I stay here”I asked

“I don’t mind Andrea but you won’t hide forever “she said

“I know, I won’t hide forever but for now let me just stay here, I don’t want to see any one”I said

“Fine then but don’t just stay locked up in the house, take a stroll around the house and feel at home”she said as she got dressed

“And I think you should answer Max call or reply his text, he is really worried about you”She said

“Okay”I replied and a while later when Brenda had left, I sat on the bed Starring at the messages sent by max.

“At least reply your message, am worried” that was the last text he sent to me.

Deciding to follow Brenda advice, I replied his message and then turned off my phone.

Right now all I want is time to think and nothing else.

MAX POV

“Where are you?”I muttered softly as the car drove me to school.

Have been so worried, wondering where Andrea could be, she is not picking her call neither will she reply my text.

Doesn’t she know how worried have been, doesn’t she know that not knowing where she might be drives me crazy.

Just then I got a text and it was from her, I opened my phone to read it

“I am fine Max, you don’t have to call me or text me, cause I won’t be answering”

I read and felt more frustrated, she knows that I will be very worried and yet she tell me not to call and that she won’t be answering.

“Sir we have gotten to your school”the chauffeur said and i got out of the car hoping to see Andrea in school but she didn’t show up.

I sat at my desk wondering where she might be only to be distracted by Jack who came to seat on the empty chair in front of me

“Have you found her yet?”He asked

“No I haven’t, she hærdly replies my message or answer my call” i replied

“Where do you think she might be?” Jack asked

“She knows no one here”I said softly

“Have you asked Beatrice and Brenda ?”I asked

“Well have asked Beatrice and she doesn’t know a thing but Brenda I havent seen her since I arrive “he replied

Just then I looked up and I saw Brenda walk in.

She went to her seat and pretended not to see us

I was unable to go to her because the teacher walked in.

Class it self was boring and I could hærdly focus just thinking about Andrea.

So as soon as the teacher left, i stood up to go to Brenda only to see that she is not in class.

I went outside, insearch of her and i saw her talking to Jack.

Quickly I went towards them and when she saw me she kept shut

“You know it right! You know where Andrea is,just tell me where she is?”I said0

“I can’t tell you, she told me not to”She replied

“And I think it will be best that you don’t look for her”Jack said

“What?”I asked

“You have cause enough harm on her, give her some space Max”he said

“Tell me where she is ?”I asked again

“She told me not to tell you, I can’t tell you,neither can I tell you too”she said starring at Jack and then she walked off

“I appreciate your wanting to look for Andrea but I think it’s enough”I said

“Says who?”he asked

“Says me, you have done enough but I will handle it from here hence fourth”I said

“I don’t want to”he replied softly

“What?”,

“Am not going to stop looking for her because you say so, just as have told you before, I like Andrea and as soon as I find her, I will tell her how I feel”He said and angrily I pulled him by his shirt.

“Stay away from Andrea”I warned

“I shouldn’t be the one to stay away, you should be the one to stay away her, can’t you see that you are causing her harm as each day passes, it’s because of you that her secret is out, because of you that she had to leave the house, can’t you see that you are ruining her life, you should be the one to stay away from her not me”He finished hotly and pulled off my hand.

“I will find her and will tell her how I feel, if I were you, I wont bother looking for her because I know that all I will give her will only be pain”he said as he walked off.

For a while, I stood there thinking about what he said and I couldn’t fault it at all, he was right, Andrea being in this is all my fault, if Rose hadn’t been greedy for me, she wont have post those pictures and if Andrea left the house, it was not to see me.

“I wont bother looking for her because I know that all I will give her will only be pain”

Jack words came back to me and I turned to leave the school premises.

I sat in the car as my chauffeur drove off to Brenda house.

If Brenda knows where she, she might be at her house and she might not be.

I knew that I had to try to my luck, as soon as i left school, I thought of going home but then I changed my mine and called Geoffrey asking for Brenda address, he gave it to me easily and I told the chauffeur to take me there.

I wont go in to look at her, I just want to know if she is at Brenda house safe.

As soon as the car stopped, I got out and went to the front door.

It took a while for some one to respond to my knock and when they did answer, it was a maid.

“Hello sir,how may I help you?”

“Am actually looking for some one, is Andrea here?”I asked

“I don’t think I know who you are talking about ”

“Your boss daughter, did she bring in a friend last night?”I asked

“No she didn’t, there are no guest here,it’s just miss Brenda”she said looking so sincere with her words but some thing betrayed her, her hands were shaking.

“Are you sure that she didn’t bring any one in?”he asked

“Yes sir,am sure, just call her your self , I still have a lot of work to do”She said and before I could stop her, she closed the door right on my face

Slowly I went back to my and the chauffeur drove off.

ANDREA POV

“Has he gone?”I asked the maid who had answered Max

“Yes and I did as you told me, he has left”She said

“Thank you”I said to her and she went off to continue her work.

Its a good thing that I had seen him out side, i was about to take a stroll when I saw him getting out of his car and quickly I ran back in, telling the first maid that I saw to tell him that I was not here.

I sat on the chair out side waiting for a while before I go for that stroll.

I don’t know why am avoiding Max but what I do know is that I don’t want to see him, not now.

I don’t want him to see me being weak and I certainly don’t want to be weak in front of him.

I need time to be alone and that is why I have come to stay at Brenda house.

Checking my watch, I saw that enough time have gone by.

I left the house and began the stroll I wanted to take earlier.

I turned to follow another street but I stopped when I saw Max standing by his car and as if he noticed my arrival, he looked up at me and then he walked towards me and hugged me tight.
