Chapter 70 :- Battle of strength

Three days after Evlyn had revealed her existence and showed the taste of her power by unleashing the rain of fire in some parts of the world, the ancient witch decided to establish dominance over all by forcing other powerful beings under her thumb but knowing also that some of them would not yield to her, she made it clear for her followers to kill anyone who rejected her thinking that this would serve as an example.
Although some agreed to join the dark witch’s evil cause, there were some that refused to join her and their refusal led to a bloody confrontation with Evlyn’s followers.

Here in the regions of Kogi which is also a gathering ground for supernatural beings especially witches, some of Evlyn’s Followers search high and low for a witch called “Onuya”. For centuries, Onuya has been known as the bat witch because she hardly comes out in the day only at night and her magic allows her to mimic bat traits. Onuya unlike other witches doesn’t mix with people and she mostly feeds on livestock especially cattle. She also stays in dark caves and old trees where bats sleep and prey on any human that’s foolish enough to hunt bats at night and because of this, other witches underestimate her. However that is not the case, Onuya is a powerful witch in her own right and because of her idleness, many haven’t had the chance to see what she’s capable of until now.

After searching tirelessly till nightfall, Onuya was finally found inside a hole on top of a huge old tree by Evlyn’s followers. The bat witch who was asleep moments ago was forced to wake up after sensing the intimidating presence of her strange guests. After observing Evlyn’s followers for some time, Onuya knew that they were up to no good which made her to become fully cautious.
Seeing that Onuya had sensed their presence, the leader of the group suddenly who’s a ghoul stepped forward and tried to state Evlyn’s offer but before he could say anything he was cut short.

Ghoul. ➡ Greetings witch.. I have…
.

Onuya ➡ Enough! How dare you trespass into my domain?
.

Ghoul ➡ Apologies but I’m here to relay a message from our mistress.
..

Onuya ➡ And who’s this mistress of yours?
.

Ghoul. ➡ She’s one who will conquer this world and bring the annihilation of mankind. She’s also the most powerful witch to ever exist.
.

Onuya ➡ What is your message, dog?
.

Ghoul ➡ The dark mistress would like you to join her cause. You will be handsomely rewarded in the end. All you have to do is pledge your loyalty.
.

Onuya ➡ I’m not interested. I have no wish to join this nonsense. I’m contented with the way I am.
.

Ghoul ➡ (laughs) Do you know who the dark mistress is? Better reconsider or you’ll regret ever making that decision.
.

Onuya ➡ Tell your mistress that she can go to hell.
.

Ghoul ➡ (laughs) If you won’t submit our mistress then you shall die.. KILL HER!!!
.

Moving swiftly and quickly towards Onuya, 2 deformed monsters charge towards her trying to fulfill the orders given to them but despite their swiftness, Onuya had already calculated their moves.
Using one of her bat traits which was echolocation, Onuya was able to detect where and how the monsters would attack before they could even do it and before the monsters could lay a hand on her, She quickly moved out of harm’s way by blending into the shadows to make her undetected. Confused and terrified by what Onuya had done, the ghoul tried to pull back and retreat but before he could even take a step, Onuya pops out of the shadow behind him and bites his neck tearing out his throat.
The monsters who had sensed that their group leader was dead rushed towards Onuya but they too met their demise in the most brutal way. The first monster to reach Onuya was lifted by her and taken high up into the air where he was ripped to shreds and as for the second one, it tried to run away from seeing that it was the only one left but before it could get far, Onuya used her magic and summoned hundreds of bats from all corners of the forest unleashing it on the monster and within a matter of seconds, all that remained of the monster was his bones and internal organs.
Despite her flawless victory over Evlyn’s followers, Onuya was mad with rage about the defiantly offer made to her. She felt insulted and swore to deal with Evlyn whom she had never seen or heard. Just as Onuya was about to leave the place, a portal mysteriously appears behind her and out the portal emerges Hadiza.

Hadiza ➡ Onuya. Long time no see. How’ve you been?
.

Onuya ➡ I’m good. How did you find me?
.

Hadiza ➡ Haba Onuya, why this cold response? It’s been a century since we last saw each other and you’re acting like I’m a stranger.
.

Onuya ➡ Sorry. I just had a unexpected encounter with some fools. So what brings you here?
.

Hadiza ➡ I need your help. I don’t know if you’ve heard or seen what has been going on lately but it’s a disaster.
.

Onuya ➡ Sorry, I don’t want to be involved in any kind of mess.
.

Hadiza ➡ Onuya, you can’t escape this. Nobody can. There’s a darkness spreading and killing anything it touches.
.

Onuya ➡ Hmm…
.

Hadiza ➡ What is it?
.

Onuya ➡ Before you arrived here, some ghoul and some monsters came and made me an offer to join their mistress whom they say would conquer the world and when I refused they tried to kill me.
.

Hadiza ➡ This doesn’t look good. Onuya, I need you to come with me. Something tells me that you’re not going to be safe.
.

Onuya ➡ I can handle myself. I don’t need anyone’s protection.
.

Hadiza ➡ Please Onuya, these are dangerous times and nobody’s safe. We need to unite and deal with whatever that is coming. There’s a lot that has been happening that you don’t know about.
.

Onuya ➡ Alright fine. I’ll come with you but I hope you have somewhere nice and dark for me to stay. You very much know that I don’t like the sun.
.

Hadiza ➡ Sure thing. Come on, there’s a lot I want to show you.

Although things may have turned out well for the bat witch, there were some that were very unlucky. Somewhere in the outskirts of kano lies the home of the infamous witch Tsunburbura who got visited by the sinister Oba who was sent by Evlyn to recruit her. Tsunburbura whose reputation is only known in the north possessed great mastery of black magic art which not only made her a formidable entity but a threat and because of that, She soon fell under Evlyn’s radar as a tool for world conquest.
After sensing the demon lord in her domain, Tsunburbura appears with some of her followers determining to know about her guest whose sinister aura was intensifying and intimidating. However it didn’t take the witch long to realize that her guest was someone she despised so much.

Tsunburbura ➡ I don’t believe it… It can’t be. You’re supposed to be in your prison.
.

Oba ➡ Hello Tsunburbura! It’s sure nice to see you. The last time we met, I left you in an unconscious state after I had my fun with you.
.

Tsunburbura ➡ SCUM! WHAT BRINGS YOU HERE?
.

Oba ➡ I’m here by the order of the supreme dark sorceress Evlyn to recruit you into her ranks. I told her of your powers and she wants to have you.
.

Tsunburbura ➡ Evlyn!!? So you’re one of her followers!? How the mighty have fallen.
.

Oba ➡ Oh I don’t mind. Besides this Evlyn is something else entirely of which I can never overcome. So what’s your reply?
.

Tsunburbura ➡ Tell that b-tch that I won’t join her ranks.
.

Oba ➡ Be careful of what you say you b-tch. Refusal means death.
.

Tsunburbura ➡ You fool , you’ll be the one to die first then your mistress will follow you. DIE !!!!
.

Oba ➡ Alright if that’s how its going to be then, it shall be so.
.

Charging with sonic speed towards Tsunburbura, Oba laughs with malice as he throws a powerful punch at her and despite blocking his attack with her magic, Tsunburbura was knocked off her feet. Quickly getting up back to her feet, Tsunburbura unleashes her magic by breaking the clay pots surrounding her house and inside the pots are black flames which Tsunburbura uses to attack the demon lord. Before Oba could try to avoid the flames, Tsunburbura’s followers quickly surround him blocking all escape routes by trapping him and their mistress inside a transparent shield.

Tsunburbura ➡ There’s no way for you to run demon. You’re going to meet your end by my hands. These flames burn anything they touch and once you get burnt by these flames, the pain will eat your body until you die.
.

Oba ➡ (laughs) You think you can defeat me!? We shall see.
.

Tsunburbura ➡ We shall. DIE YOU SCUM !!!
.

Fueled by her rage and desire to kill Oba, Tsunburbura instantly pours more of her magic on the black flames making it to grow bigger and bigger. Before long the flame expanded so much that it was enough to burn a big farm land and once the flames increased, the heat also increased immensely. The shield which held Tsunburbura and Oba began to crack due to the immense heat, even Tsunburbura’s followers were barely holding on to the heat. Finally, Tsunburbura manages to trap Oba within the flames as soon as the opportunity represented itself and without wasting any more time, she unleashes more of her magic burning Oba who was busy screaming amidst the flames in agony.
Seeing that their mistress had prevailed over the demon lord, Tsunburbura’s followers open a small path for her to step out of the shied trapping Oba alone inside the shield as he burns before their very eyes. Tsunburbura smiled as she watched her long time nemesis burnt before her very eyes and just as she was about to celebrate her victory, something unexpected happens.
Oba who had pretended to be in pain started to laugh defiantly and although his skin had burnt away, he didn’t seem to be bothered about the pain at all. As if his laughter hadn’t caused Tsunburbura enough shock, the demon lord started to transform into his real form before their very eyes as he made these statement.

Oba ➡ You b-tch, you really thought that you had defeated me. If that’s all the power you can muster up to fight me then I’m disappointed to say that you’re doomed. Let me show you what real power looks like.
.

As Oba was going through his transformation, the black flames were instantly extinguished and the shield that trapped him began to fall apart. Fearing what might come next, Tsunburbura casted one of her spells summoning some of spiritual being to end Oba. The being summoned by Tsunburbura looked somewhat like a toad, it was black and deformed beyond words, and it was big enough to swallow a dozen grown elephants. This particular being summoned by Tsunburbura had the power to trap anything that it swallows inside its mouth and there is no escape. After summoning the creature, Tsunburbura ordered it to swallow the shield that contained Oba and within a matter of seconds, it swallowed everything including Oba but even with that, it didn’t take long for the demon lord to re-emerge.
Like a volcanic eruption, Oba bursted his way out of the creature’s body killing it in the process and now that he was in his full form, things were about to get worse.. Terrified by the enormous size of the demon lord, Tsunburbura and her followers tried to flee but their speed wasn’t enough to get to safe. One by one, Oba instantly massacred every one of Tsunburbura’s followers tearing them apart. He even used his powerful blasts to destroy Tsunburbura’s home and all of her followers, not a single soul was left.
Seeing the damage done to precious home and followers, Tsunburbura got furious and stood her ground fighting off Oba. Using all the black magic spells she mastered on Oba , Tsunburbura finally manages to subdue him by using a spell that binds demons, a spell which is called * Holy curse *. The spell known as Holy curse summons rays of light that appears like chains and ties down any demonic entity and since light is another weakness for demons the demon can’t escape it unless if when the spell is canceled or when the caster is killed.

Oba ➡ ARRRGGHH! It hurts.. Where did you learn this spell?
.

Tsunburbura ➡ Thanks to my far and wide travels, I’ve learnt and seen alot of things. I’ve also come across strange beings with power and vast knowledge which no one can find in books. This spell was given to me to use in case of great emergencies and I can only use it once. Now that I have you trapped, i’m going to enjoy hurting you a lot. It will be a pleasure to hear you scream and once I’m done with you, I’ll pass you on to the witches of the west to handle you. I hear that they excel in dealing with demons of your caliber.

Angered by Tsunburbura’s words, Oba struggles to break free but the more he does, the tighter the chains become which also adds more pain to the demon lord. Just as Tsunburbura was about to drag away Oba, something strange occurs that changes things instantly.
Suddenly out of nowhere, a powerful gush of wind sweeps the whole area that Tsunburbura was in, it was as if a monsoon had appeared. Lots of tree fell because of the powerful wind and even the landscape shook tremendously as if it was going to itself apart. After a few seconds, the wind disappears and the tremor stops but what came after that was much more worse.
Shocked by what had occurred, Tsunburbura turns around only to see something or rather someone heading towards her. Here before Tsunburbura’s eyes was Evlyn herself who was walking majestically and each step she took made anything living around her to die. Fearing the powerful sinister vibe she was getting from Evlyn, Tsunburbura attacks her by summoning undead creatures to attack her but to her surprise, the creatures didn’t move at all instead they killed themselves. Tsunburbura again attacks Evlyn with endless magic spells but all was in vain.

Tsunburbura ➡ (panting) This…. is…not possible! Who are you?
.

Evlyn ➡ It’s a pity really! I was expecting more. This fool here told me your power are astonishing. Honestly I’m disappointed.
.

Tsunburbura ➡ So you’re Evlyn!?… You won’t get what you want.
.

Evlyn ➡ I already have. By the way, I have no more interest in you. It’s time to wrap this up. Let me show you what real power is like.
.

Stretching out her right hand forward, all of Tsunburbura’s magic attack converged and gathered in one spot emitting some kind of greenish light. As if that wasn’t terrifying enough, the dark witch adds her own magic energy creating a very powerful attack. In that moment, Evlyn throws everything back at Tsunburbura and the impact was insane.
Oba who was witnessing everything was speechless as he watched Tsunburbura being blown away by Evlyn’s attack. The attack was so powerful that the land itself was caught on fire. After the attack, the spell which binded Oba disappeared but even with that the demon lord couldn’t escape Evlyn’s fury as he too was struck with a powerful lightening blast that nearly killed him. Hanging on to the little life had left, Oba quickly sought Evlyn’s forgiveness knowing fully what she’s capable of.

Evlyn ➡ Useless fool, not only did you disappoint me but you also made me come all the way out here for nothing.
.

Oba ➡ (coughs blood) I’m sorry your eminence.
.

Evlyn ➡ If only you weren’t useful I could have killed you. (Spits on Oba)
.

In that moment, Xeira and Iyunloye appear at the scene standing behind Evlyn as they both watch the state that Oba was in. Evlyn who had also noticed their presence asks them about their update.
.

Evlyn ➡ Iyunloye, any progress?
.

Iyunloye ➡ Yes, we’ve managed to recruit a few worthy candidates to join your ranks.
.

Evlyn ➡ Few!?
.

Iyunloye ➡ Yes your eminence. As it appears not everyone is willing to join you.
.

Evlyn ➡ Xeira, how are you feeling?
.

Xeira ➡ Much better.
.

Evlyn ➡ Good, I would like you to recruit Rose. The shadow witch!
.

Xeira ➡ And if she doesn’t agree?
.

Evlyn ➡ Kill her. Gather as many as you want to go to her place. If she refuses to join, you kill her.
.

Xeira ➡ Very well.
.

Evlyn ➡ And you Iyunloye, I want you to recruit Xeira’s step sister.
.

Xeira ➡ WHAT!?
.

Evlyn ➡ Is something wrong?
.

Xeira ➡ Your eminence, Iyunloye can’t handle my sister. You’re sending her on a slaughter.
.

Evlyn ➡ Your fear for you step-sister is something else.
.

Xeira ➡ I’m not afraid of my sister. I’m just telling you to reconsider sending Iyunloye cause she’s not going to make it. Besides finding Zenti will be impossible.
.

Evlyn ➡ Don’t worry, Iyunloye has a plan to draw her out.
.

Xeira ➡ I don’t know what scheme you’re planning Iyunloye but marks my words, your efforts will be in vain.
.

Iyunloye ➡ Perhaps but instead of worrying about me, you should also be worried about your own assignment. After all, you’re going to be tangle with Rose and if there’s one thing that I know is that your chances against her is zero.

Xeira ➡ We shall see about that.
