Sequence 20

“Yes, Justine, Yes” I will marry you, I scre-med out with tears in my eyes.
“Did I just hear you say yes? Yesss she said Yes Justine got up and jumped up and down as tears threatened to fall from his eyes, he slipped the ring on my finger then lowered his mouth into mine and we k-ssed intensely, I had k-ssed a few men before getting married then there was Dan and now Justine but truth be told no one had ever k-ssed me with as much passion as Justine did. It didn’t feel like the first time, it was like I was already used to his l-ips. We were both breathing heavily when we pulled of the k-ss. Gosh I realized just then how much I loved him. Afterwards we composed ourselves and sat down as Justine held my hand.

I stared at my finger for a while then got a few photos and sent to Chloe.
“I don’t believe you said yes” Justine said
“What made you think I was going to say no?”
“Pam you can be so unpredictable, you don’t know how nervous I was” he sighed
“Well Mr. Mbao I just proved you wrong” I smiled
“I can’t wait to wake up to you every single day, this face is the first thing I want to see when I open my eyes each day, gazing at you, holding you and k-ssing you” he said
“I can’t wait to k-ss those l-ips every single day Mr. Mbao”
“Future Mrs. Mbao I love you so much”
“And I love you too I think when you went away I got to realize how I feel about you,” I blushed
“As they say Absence makes the heart grow fonder” he said while feeding me the cake
“So what happens to the ring you gave me at first?” I asked
“Well it’s all yours, you can wear two” he laughed
“Well since it’s also nice we can keep it for the wedding” I said
“No, that aren’t happening, I already have something in mind for the wedding” he said

“Speaking of the wedding when you would want us to get married” I asked
“Whenever you are ready but I want it as soon as possible” he shyly smiled
“Okay so I will think about it then we can discuss when it’s suitable for both us” I said
“Any day is suitable for me even today, so this is all up to you”
“Okay then let’s just take things slow, we can get to know each other more then get married later at least after my baby is a little older” I said
“Fine with me as long as I know you are mine and you aren’t going anywhere”
I was happy that finally I had found a man that not only loved and appreciated me but loved my daughter as well, but then what would Justine’s relatives say about this? He had never been married and he I was rich while me on the other side was a divorcee and single mother, what if they didn’t like me and treated me like Dan’s family did.

“Whats on your mind my love” Justine asked
“Nothing, I was just thinking about your family, will they be okay with this?” I asked
“Don’t stress your pretty head with this, they liked you already, they will like you more nothing has changed” he said
“Then we were just friends and now we are more than that” I said
“They will be cool I promise”
After Dinner he drove me home, we talked all the way I could see how happy Justine was with our engagement.
“Aren’t you coming in?” I asked when we got home
“No if I do I will never come, let me get going I will see you tomorrow, k-ss my baby good night” he said
“I will” I smiled. Then he pulled me to him and k-ssed me.

“Good night my love”
“Good night to you too” I said then got in,side
“Awwwwwww congrats baby” Chloe shouted the moment I entered the house, she hugged me instantly.
“Thank you mummy, where is my baby” I asked
“She is sleeping” Chloe answered
Then we went to the room and I changed my outfit while telling Chloe about everything at the dinner.
“I know he will treat you well, allow yourself to be happy” Chloe said
After wards we said good night to each other and I slept feeling very content, I was so happy, it’s not every day that people run into a man like Justine.

“Justine hey, don’t look like you have seen a ghost, stand up and give me hug” she said. Justine stood up and hugged her, after the hug the girl went and sat next to Lisa, it looked like a seat had already been prepared for her.
“I invited Kathy hope you all don’t mind” Lisa said
“Oh its fine, you know Lisa is family” Justine’s mother answered
The other people on the table just nodded their heads in agreement without saying anything. I could see who ever the girl was, must have been a big part of the family.

The last time I had spent some time with Justine’s family when I was pregnant, I wasn’t as intimidated I was now, I felt so uncomfortable. I hadn’t met Lisa because she was out but looking at her now I knew we wouldn’t click, she stared at me in such an unusual way.
Few minutes later we all started eating, the table was quiet then after we were done we heeded to the living room and sang happy Birthday to Lisa. When we were about to present our gifts to her, Justine pulled her away while holding my hand and his other sisters tagged along, we were not outside.

“Allow me to formally meet my favorite baby sister, since last time you only met Stacy and Jessie” Justine smiled
“Justine so you mean we are not your favorite sisters” Stacy and Jessie asked and we all laughed.
Before I could talk to Lisa, his mother called us so we could progress. So we went back to the house
Being the only guy among girls Justine got a wh0le lot of attention when he was home. Stacy is the first born followed by Jessie, then Justine and Lisa.
When we sat down people started giving presents and finally it was Justine’s turn.

“I would like your attention for what I am about to tell you all now” he said and the noise ceased instantly.
“Come here Pam” he called me and I went to join him where he was standing, I was so scared and I almost tripped.
“My dear sister Happy Birthday to you, for us this is not just a birthday but a day of celebrating even other great things happening in our lives, I would like to announce to you all that Pam and I got engaged Last Saturday and we are getting married soon.

“You what?” Lisa said almost choking in her drink
“We got engaged” he repeated himself
“Wasn’t she married and pregnant a few months ago?” his mother asked with disappointment on her face
“She has a baby and she is divorced “Justine answered
“And I thought you guys where just friends what happened?” his mother asked again
“Mum I fell in love, I love her” He said
“And who will take care of that baby? Justine this is a big decision I think you need t sit down and rethink your decision” she asked
I knew something like this would definitely happen. I just didn’t know it would happen this soon, I knew no one would allow their single son marry a divorcee with a baby.

“Come on stop interrogating the couple and congratulate them already” His father said disrupting my thoughts. He walked to where we stood and hugged us both.
“Congratulations my child, if you are happy, then I am happy too” he told Justine then he looked at me and said “I am sure you will make a good wife, welcome to the family my daughter”
Stacy and Jessie where next to hug and congratulate us, the seemed genuinely happy, I knew I had nothing to worry with them.

“Awww we are going to be sisters soon” Stacy said
“Yes we will and we need to start planning the wedding soon, have you set the date and the venue, what about your colour themes and what kind of weeding dress you will wear?” Jessie asked
“Chill Jessie, you are acting as if you are the one getting married” Justine said
“Why wouldn’t i? You are finally going be a husband that’s great news” she said
“Fine, fine I hear you we will give you all the details once we sit down and discuss” he told her
Lisa on the other hand stood still and gulped on her glass of wine as if she had received the worst news of her life.
Then Kathy also stood up and came to the front, she looked at me from head to toe then bypassed me and hugged Justine afterwards she whispered something in his ears.

“It was nice meeting you Pam and congratulations on your engagement” she said sarcastically and walked out, then Lisa followed her behind.
Justine’s mother was very quiet, she was looking at me like trash like I didn’t deserve her son and deep down I knew I didn’t deserve him, he deserved a single fresh woman and not someone like me. I wasn’t ready to deal with In-law drama and if they didn’t like me then I would walk out of Justine’s life.
“Take me home Justine” I whispered in his ears.

Kathy is a bitch😂

Sequence 21

The drive home was quiet I mean what did I think? That they would welcome me and my baby? That they would be happy about this wh0le thing? I must have been a fool to even agree to marry Justine, If I went ahead and married him I was seeing history repeating itself but this time around if my in-laws didn’t like me it wasn’t only going to affect me but my child as well.

“Pam, talk to me please” Justine said as we reached my place
“Justine right now all I want to do is hold my baby and sleep” I said
“Please Pam, please” he pleaded
“You mother doesn’t like me, do you think this will work out? A mother is the biggest influence in any one’s life so whatever decision she makes usually stands, we can’t fight this”
“Pam what are you saying?”
“Maybe your mother is right, raising another child’s man is not easy” I said
“Pam you know I love Tasheni like she were my own, I have been there since day one and not even once have I ever complained, don’t be unfair on me let me sort out this issue, I beg don’t push me away”
“Good night Justine” I said while getting out of the car before he could open the door for me
“He came and held my hand just when I was about to enter the house, he tried to k-ss me but I turned the other way.
“Good night baby” he said looking defeated.

I didn’t respond but went in, it was a bit late but Chloe was awake in the nursery reading Tash a book, I got a quick photo of them and got in.
“She is still up?” I asked surprised
“Yes she is, how was the dinner?” she asked
“You don’t want to know” I said while undressing, I changed into my night dress then got Tash and started br-astfeeding her
“Did he hurt you?” Chloe asked
“No, Chloe he didn’t, you know how great Justine is” I answered
I told Chloe what happened and after telling her she hugged me tightly and said everything would be just fine.
“Justine loves you and if he wants to be with you, he will fight for you” She said

“I am scared sis, what if eventually he realizes that his mother is right, what then?” I asked
“Not all men are like Dan, some men fight for what they love, give him the benefit of doubt trust him” she urged
“I will try to” I said
After Chloe went to bed, I held my baby close to me, she made my life perfect despite the things that others saw in me, she was my life and being with her, listening to her heartbeat just made everything seem right and I wasn’t going to cry over things I had no control of.
The weeks that came by where hectic Justine was trying everything in his power to show me he would not leave him for anything in the world, but I was a little distant, I had so much fear, I was scared, what would happen if he broke my heart too would I survive it?
Then one Thursday evening he called and I was still debating whether to answer him or not when Chloe came in and picked up the call, she talked to him for a while and gave me the phone then she got Tash and went with her.

“Baby I miss you, I miss us” he said. I didn’t know what to say so I was just quiet on the other end of the line.
“Pam I know what my mother said hurt you but please don’t punish me because of her, she is mother yes but don’t allow her to ruin what we have please” he pleaded
“Its fine Justine, how are you?” I asked
“How can I be fine when you have been distant? You never reply my texts, you hærdly pick up my calls and you don’t even want to spend time with me” he said
“I am sorry I was just hurt but its fine I missed you too” I said
“You did?” he asked
“Yes I did Justine”
“Okay then prove to me that you did” he asked

“Okay so Tash and I will send the weekend with you that way you get to cover up for missing time” I said
“Oh that’s too good to be true” he scre-med
“And who was that light skinned girl that seemed to have claws all over you at the dinner?” I asked
“Oh that one, let me tell you about her tomorrow when you come” he said
We talked a bit about what we would do for the weekend then after we hang up, I got my baby and we slept. The next day I packed us some clothes and drove to Justine’s house, we spent the morning bonding at around 12 he had to go and check on something at work.
“I will be back by 13” he said
“Its fine you will find us in perfect condition” I responded

We k-ssed for a while then he left, after he was gone I decided to make us lunch since I knew he would be back soon, Tash was laying on the chair and I had put some cartoons for her to watch.
“Justineeeeeee” I heard someone call out from the living room so I rinsed my hands and went to check who it was. I got there and found Lisa and Kathy looking at my baby in shock.
“Hey” I said
“Hey to yourself where is my brother?” Lisa asked
“He has gone out” I answered
“Great we are going to wait for him”
“Okay” I said and turned to go to the kitchen when Lisa called my name.

“Yes” i responded
“Get your child of the couch and for your own information my brother will never marry you, whatever you have with him has to come to an end, don’t believe whatever little lies he has been feeding you” she said
“Yes Justine is mine, the sooner you get that into your skull the better, I am on the winning side because I have his mother’s support so leave before you are embarrassed” Kathy said
I got my baby and put her on my back while I went to check on what was being cooked in the kitchen.

The ladies started playing loud music so as to frustrate me and they got what they wanted because i went to Justine’s room and started packing my stuff but just when I was almost going downstairs the music stopped playing and now there was noise, people where arguing.
“Lisa you can’t come to this house and disrespect me like this, Pam is my fiancée she has every right to be here and to bring the baby as well” I heard Justine yell
“You can’t marry a second hand woman, mum and I won’t allow it what do you see in her? Kathy here is ready to be your wife” Lisa yelled back
I put Tash on the bed and went downstairs to stop Justine from arguing with his sister.

“Justine stop! this is not worth it” I said
“Pam I am so sorry for this” he said as he came and hugged me
“Its fine but please don’t argue with your sister because of me” I told him
“Justine what is it that I don’t have? What is it that you find in her that you can’t find in me? Haven’t I shown you how much I love you over the years?” Kathy asked
“Kathy I appreciate that you love me and you have loved me for so many years but the feeling is not mutual I have never loved you not even once” he said
“But we used to k-ss, we had a connection each time we k-ssed” she said
“Kathy that was years back and we were young it was just a k-ss and nothing more, please don’t dwell on the past” he told her
Then she knelt down and held Justine’s legs while crying I felt sorry for her, Lisa knelt down too in an effort to comfort her.

“Let’s go Kathy” she told her friend
“No, Lisa I love your brother remember how you have always told me he will marry me, do something” she yelled
A few minutes later she stopped crying and walked out while Lisa tagged along.
I went upstairs to check on Tasha when I heard her cry then Justine joined me afterwards
“Whats your story with her?” I asked him
“You really want to know?” he asked
“Yes I do” I nodded my head
“When Anita broke my heart, Kathy was there to comfort me, she was my sister’s best friend and I took her as a sister too, but I didn’t know what she felt was more than that, soon afterwards we started flirting, it was nothing serious, just k-ssing and chatting here and there, so after I forgot Anita and found Charity, I told Kathy I couldn’t continue flirting with her because I met someone I loved and that broke her heart. She left for Namibia where she did her studies and found a job, she recently came to settle back in Zambia due to her mother’s illness and now mum thinks she is the perfect girl for me”

he said

“Gosh this is big, so your mum has hinted about you marrying her?” I asked
“Yes she called me the other day and told me to make things official with her, can you imagine?”
I stood up and started walking in circles because this drama was bigger than I had thought, so even after his mother knew he was engaged to me, she went ahead and told him to make things official with Kathy.
“What do we do now?” I asked
“Nothing has changed here Pam when I said I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I meant it, I will not go back on my words because of what mum said, I chose you and no one will tell me my choice is wrong” he said
I blushed, Justine always made me feel special he made it clear I was the center of attention in his world.
“Come here” I called him
He came and I hugged him tightly, if he was willing to stand by me, go against his mother for me then he truly loved me.

“Don’t worry we will get through this together” I said
“Do you mean that?” he asked
“Of course, I love you and you love me no one can stand between us” I said
We ate our lunch then afterwards went for swim because Tash was still sleeping.
I drove back home on Monday, afternoon I had a great weekend with Justine but I needed to also give him space to work, when I got home Nono filled me up on every little thing that happened, after that I changed into something else I got Tash and we sat on the lawn, I was playing with Tash when I felt as though I was being watched so I turned and saw Dan standing.

“What are you doing here?” I asked
“Pam we need to talk about this baby” He said
“You know what leave me alone” I answered
Just then my phone rang and I picked it knowing it was Justine.
“Baby,” I answered
“I miss you already are you home now?” he asked
“Yes I am, I miss you more”
“How is my baby?” he asked
“Your baby is just fine, she is busy giggling” I answered
“Okay, k-ss her for me, I will check on you guys later, I love you” he said
“And I love you more, take care of yourself for me” I answered
After hanging up I turned to Dan “You were saying?” I asked him
“You are getting married?” he asked while staring at my ring
“Yes I am, didn’t you just hear me talking to my husband to be?” I asked him
“Pam you honestly want me to watch you get married and have another man raise my child?” is that what you are telling me?” he asked
“Dan you have no right to ask me anything, you have a wife and child let me have my own share of happiness” I answered

“Do you love him?” he asked
“I love him very much Dan, so back off” I said
“You can get married all I want is my child” he said
“Just go Dan” I told him
“This is not the end I will make sure I get my child Pam” he said and walked away
Dan ruined my day so after he left I also went in,side the house and slept.
