Gwennie’s POV

“Hey Jenny,” I said into the phone as I pulled my denim jacket into an arm.

“Hi G, are you home?” she asked.

“Yes but I’m about to go for tutorials, it’s about time”

“You’re still on with that music freak stuff?” her voice came like a grumble.

“Yes, I am. It’s not how it was on my first week, it’s fun now” I said.

I heard a tiny but loud tune from the other end.
“Ugh!” I heard a crash.

“Is something wrong, J?”

“My crazy alarm, I set it about three hours ago and it’s just ringing. Can you imagine?” I smiled.

“So I guess you destroyed it?”

“It’s so frustrating, what if I had an appointment to keep up with or I had to catch an early train, this old killer would’ve sure made me get a sack letter or a query to write, so annoying!” she exclaimed and I let out an inaudible laugh then sat on my bed and drew my pink sandals to me.

“Not all alarms really function well, or maybe you set it wrong”

“I didn’t, well that’s by the way, I saw this new beauty salon in Jackson height, Sales started today and discounts are given. if you go today then you’ll be given a complete beauty plus for nothing less than a dollar” she said and I smiled.

“That’s a good one, girl,” I pinned the sandal, with the phone now stuck between my shoulder and ear.

“Indeed, Freya and I will go by seven because of work and of course your school, so are you coming?”

“Of course I am girl, I can’t miss such and besides it’s been a while since I had tan lotion on my skin”

“Well, lucky you! you’ll get one today”

“Give me a call when you’re ready, I’ll join you guys at the station,” I stood up and pulled my Jean up.

“Oh, OK. I’ll call you” she said.

“Yeah, thanks. Bye”

“Bye” the phone clicked from the other end and I quickly dropped mine into my purse then took off to the living room to have breakfast with the family.

“Morning mom,” I greeted mom who looked like someone who sold her sleep as she dished hot pancakes, her eyes were baggy and her face spelt ‘Tired’.

“Morning Gwen” she simply replied as she took down the coffee pot from the stove.

“Where’s dad?” I asked.

“He has an unfinished project at work so he had to leave early” mom dished the coffee into our cups and in the process shook her hand and spilled a little on her other palm.

“Ouch!” she yelped as both Jerold and I ran to her.

“Are you OK,?” Jerold asked and I eyed him.

“Yes she is Jerold that’s why she yelled ‘ouch'” I sarcastically said.

“Nosey” he mumbled.
I took mom to the sink and set her hand under the faucet then let the water run on the burns.

“You look tired mom, did you stay up all night?” i asked.

“Not all night, I had to complete series one of the good wife. I only had an hour sleep,I guess”

“That’s not good enough, go to your room and rest mom. I’ll serve the rest of breakfast and do the little work before I go for tutorials”

“Are you sure honey, I have so much to do, I have to empty the trash bin, clean up the kitchen, water the flowers,—

“I can do all of it mom, just go ahead and rest” I objected while she smiled and nodded.

“I’ll head up now,” she placed a light k-ss on my cheek, smiled a little at me then walked to the stairs.
I let out a sigh as I went back to the table and poured out the remaining coffee into my cup then sat for breakfast with Jerold.

The ride all through breakfast was silent, as usual except that Jerold was being a bit throaty and I couldn’t be more glad when he left for school, the time was 7:35 when I set for work.
First I packed all the utensils we used for breakfast into the dishwasher then dried it and placed it on its s₱0t, then I wiped off food crumbs from the table carefully and set the dinning chairs and table in order,next I took out the trash and emptied it in the bigger box, then I took the watering can from the holder, filled it up with water then watered the blossomed flowers and little plants, I could’ve pulled out the little weeds I sighted but I didn’t want my hand getting soiled so I ignored it…

It was 9:21 when I rounded up with the work, I gallantly lifted my purse and bag then walked out, closing the door behind I hurried out of our building and took a taxi since I was already late, waiting for the bus would only make me more late.

The taxi dropped at the school gate and I paid then got down, I could see no one in sight and I knew just how late I am, I rushed to the gate and knocked slightly then got in after displaying my badge to the mean looking security..

I let out a silent sigh as I reached my class, a teacher was in, though I could hear little of what she was saying, her gestures told she was teaching.
I moved in and all eyes flew to me including the teachers’, some bore anger while the rest had questions.

“Miss Gwen,” the teacher called, now facing me with her eyes rolling up and down my body.
“Why are you just coming school?”

I licked my lower l-ips and looked around, my gaze landed on Justin’s and I was awed when he smiled at me. Not mockingly but a sincere friendly-like smile, something I’ve missed for so long.
His dimples, oh fish! they dug and fitted his cheeks really well.

“Miss Callaghan?!” the teacher’s voice jerked me to her and I shook my head mindlessly.

“You can go to your seat but let this not repeat itself” she said, realizing I had no sensible explanation.

“It won’t, thanks ma’am” I smiled to my seat and sat, my mind thinking about the earlier unusual smile Jay dazzled me with.

The period lasted for an hour and I let out a sigh.

My phone vibrated since I had earlier set the mode on silent so I powered it on and viewed the message which came from Alex..

**Hey, you’re busy? **

the simple message said and I smiled, then relaxed back on the chair when another teacher stepped in with notes.
Look like Alex will have to wait. I said to my mind as we turned to the teacher.

Lunch bell rang after the third lesson and I couldn’t be more grateful, I stood up and moved to Hailey desk.

“Hey,” I said when I reached her.

“Hey Gwen,” she turned to me.

“Um, I was wond–

“..Wondering if you can grab me a Burger or two for lunch, I have works to do with Mrs Gloria..” she completed with a straight look “Or is it miss Gabriella this time?” she questioned.

“Ugh! you know me, don’t you?”

“That’s your anthem during break and yes, I’ll get you lunch but this time you’re paying”

“Fine, thanks” I said with a smile then rushed to my seat to get my phone. I paused on my track when I sighted Justin on the seat beside mine with his face on mine, I gulped and moved wobbly to my seat then fumbled on my purse for my phone.

“Hey,” I heard his voice and I almost jerked up, I let out a small smile as I looked at him, it was like he got more handsome or is it just me?

“Hey,” I replied.

“Going somewhere?”

“Yup, I have to check something vital upstairs”

“Oh, I was wondering if I could talk to you for a second, do you mind” he asked.

“Uh, I don’t,” I rested my butt on my desk “What’s up?”

“I uh I wanted us to, I mean I want to know if you have plans for tomorrow”

“Uh, nope…why?”

“I want to ask you out for dinner tomorrow” he said and shifted his gaze “If you’re busy then we can do it some other time” he added.

“I’m not busy at all” I smiled.

“So, it’s a yes?” he asked.

“Yes it is, but may I ask why you want to take me out for dinner?”

“I uh..have something to tell, I mean ask you?”

“Mmh” I nodded “Something that have to do with dinners?” I asked.

“I guess you can call it that, but it’s a question that needs dinner to be answered” he said and I laughed.

“OK then, see you at dinner question” I sarcastically said.

“I’ll text you the time and address” he said.

“I’ll be expecting it” *handsome* my subconscious flirtatiously added and I shook it off.

“Yeah,” he said with a smile and I walked out and head to the stairs, realizing my want for coffee I turned from the stair and head to the cafe where I purchased a cup of coffee, warming my palm with it, I took the stairs from the other side since it made it more easier than walking to the usual one, taking the stairs gently I arrived at the hallway and sighted Alex’s office eight doors away.
if I had used the other stair case I would’ve easily reached his office. it was just four doors away.

I walked until I reached the fifth door and stopped when I sighted a female figure through the transparent glassy window, she looked sideways and I saw her fully.
it was Gabriella, the girl I once thought was Alex’s girlfriend.

Something on her table attracted me, it was a pack of drug, though the vision wasn’t clear enough it was obvious it is a tablet drug..
Blue and orange..it looked familiar to me but I couldn’t recollect where I had seen it but something kept attracting me to it like it posed something bad.

I scanned my head but I remembered nothing. Maybe it was some random pain relievers that worked fast or maybe if I get to see the name then I’ll remember where I’ve seen it from.

I saw gabby pick the drug pack, pulled it out and peeled off two tablets from it then swallowed with a glass of water before frowning and breathing heavily. My instinct and curiosity grew wilder but I shook it off and left before she noticed I was watching.

I got to Alex’s office, greeted and set my coffee cup down and set to work which we had left undone the previous day..

After the job had been completed we relaxed and talked until after break before I set to go back to class, I decided to pass the stairs that lead to the cafe, I really don’t know why I’m being pushed there..my instinct kept on pushing me and somehow I have to satisfy it.

Getting to her office I peered in through the glass window, sighting no one I moved a little bit close and peered h-rder, I saw the drug lying on the chair and the office empty.

I gulped as I thought about the repercussions of what I was about to do if I got caught, I looked around. Still seeing no one I moved to the door, steadied my breath then twisted the knob and moved in with my heart thumping.

I closed the door behind me and shut my eyes before looking around and moving to the drug pack when I saw nothing that could implicate me, I picked up the pack, shifted and peered into it.

I shut my mouth to prevent me from yelling out loud when I saw the drug’s name, ‘Caniidop’.

OMG! Caniidop,
What the hell is this doing here..

It’s a very dangerous abortion pill, what the hell is gabby doing with this.
It’s damn dangerous and the effects are deadly..

Why was she drinking this, an abortion drug!! A dangerous one at that..
