Philip Office…

“Are you still worried? Come on don’t act like a drenched puppy. You are a man for goodness sake.” Thomas said.

“But…the lady…I’m suddenly feeling lot of guilt in my heart. Maybe I wasn’t even in my right sense that time. What have I done? Now, if everyone eventually got to know about it, I’d be in big mess. My parents would be so disappointed in me.” Philip said worriedly.

“Are you kinda sick? Have you forgotten how you were head over heels for that lady? Always thinking about her at work and you couldn’t just concentrate on anything those times.” Thomas said.

“That was then . that was F*KING then!” He shouted.

Dammie hearing her boss raised voice quickly rushed in.

“Yes sir…are you okay?” She asked hurriedly.

“Get the hell out!” Philip shouted at her.

Dammie quickly rushed out almost stumbling.

“F*ck you Philip. How could you shout on that sweet looking lady.” Thomas enquired.

“You can go for her. She looks like she needs a man anyways. You both suit yourself.” He said.

“You’re sick.” Thomas laughed.

The door to his office opened again revealing Dammie.

“What do you want again?” He half yelled.

“E..y….e..uhha..” She stuttered. She couldn’t just bear seeing Philip yell at her with such an angry tone.

“What do you have to say?” Thomas butt in.

“Someone’s here to see you sir.” She was able to put words together.

“Who?” He asked.

“I.” Mimi said walking in, gently taking her steps.

“Welcome.” Thomas said.

“Thanks.” She answered taking a sit.

“Hi.” Philip said.

“what are you still doing here?” Philip glared at Dammie.

She flinched and walked out slamming the door.

“Well, I told her to come.” Thomas said.

Philip looked at him questioningly.

“To celebrate.” Thomas said giggling.

“To hell with that!” Philip said.

“Why sir? I guess you’ve always wanted your wife to be pregnant and it has happened.” Mimi said knowingly.

“Wife? Oh yeah wife.” Philip said awkwardly.

Thomas took the telephone and called Dammie.

☎ you’re needed.

☎ okay sir.

Dammie came in almost immediately.

“We wanna celebrate your boss. Order lots of food and drinks.” Thomas said smiling.

“Okay sir.” Dammie bowed and left.

Mimi smirked…

Philip was just glaring at Thomas.

“I’m curious…Mimi. How were you able to do the implantation despite the doctors that are in the ward with you?” Thomas asked.

Mimi smiled before answering.

“It’s simple. I got a doctor’s support. And we made sure she was fast asleep.” Mimi said.

“Must be a female doctor.” Thomas said.

“Yeah..” Mimi said.

Mr Philip… Take care of her…I mean your wife. She’d be feeling pains in her abdomen occasionally. Just be there for her, a little m-ssage on her lower part would be okay.” Mimi said staring at Philip suspiciously.

“Y..o..alright.” Philip stuttered.

“But, why the pains?” Thomas asked.

“That’s because you both are liars…f*king bloody liars. The lady you brought to me is still a V-rgin.” Mimi imagined herself saying that.

“I asked a question.” Thomas repeated jerking Mimi out of her thought.

“Yeah…because it’s natural.” Mimi lied.

Silence suddenly prevailed in the room.

It,was the sound of the opening door that got rid of the silence.

Dammie walked in holding a plastic basket containing lots of food and drinks.

*yay! Let’s eat, drink and celebrate!” Thomas scre-med

“What are we celebrating?” Dammie blurted out without thinking.

“Your boss is expecting a baby soon.” Thomas said.

“What? How’s that possible?” Dammie wondered in her head.

Philip glared at Thomas before leaving the office.

“Thank you.” The delivery man and Cindy said at the same time.

They smiled.

She went back in,side and walked to the dining room.

She placed the ordered fried rice and chicken with a pineapple juice and two bottles of water on the table as well as the ice cream she ordered for herself.

She walked into the living room and went to meet Samuel.

He has been silent ever since he received the call from Fred.

“Come and take some food.” Cindy said sitting beside him.

“Thanks. But I’m not just hungry.” He replied.

“Why? You need strength so that you’d act according to the plans.” Cindy persuaded

*I’m not hungry. You don’t wanna force me, do you?” He asked.

“For goodness sake, stop acting like a baby. You’re a man. I don’t expect you to be this down ’cause of her. Yeah…you love her, everyone knows but she doesn’t deserve this mood you are. Come on be a man.” Cindy said.

Samuel shrugged…and decided to just give in. No matter what, he can’t just argue with Cindy, she’d always wine.

“Alright. Let me take some.” Samuel said trying to stand up.

Cindy aided his movement by holding his left hand as they walked to the dining.

She drew out a chair for him and he sat down. She also sat opposite him watching him eat.

“You must eat a lot if you don’t want me to feed you.” Cindy said.

Samuel smiled a little.

“Alright ma.* Samuel said as he dug his spoon into the food.

Cindy watched him eat for some minutes before she started taking her ice cream.

The ice cream was almost melting.

They ate in silence as Cindy kept on watching him.

Some minutes into the food, Cindy’s phone buzzed of a new incoming message.

She stopped eating and went for it in the living room. It’s fortunate the phone was in her medical coat ’cause she came with nothing not even her bag.

“Excuse me.” She said and went for it.

She took it out and read its content.

It’s from Emmanuel.

She wondered why he would sent her message instead of calling but she concluded in her mind that he might be busy.

✉Meet me at Crowns Restaurant in the next thirty minutes. I’m waiting.✉

She read.

She went back to the dining.

“Are you enjoying it?” She asked immediately she took her seat.

“Yeah..thank you a wh0le lot Cindy. I really do not know how to thank you. You’re really God sent.” Samuel appreciated.

Cindy smiled.

“Well…I’m glad you’re better. There’s no problem without a solution. We’re gonna get to the root of the matter very soon, okay? Calm down, you’re in safe hands.” Cindy assured.

“You’re right. Thanks my dear.” Samuel said.

“Hhm…I got a message from Emmanuel now that I should meet him in a restaurant. So, I gotta go ’cause I knew not what he’s got to say.” Cindy said.

“Go ahead. I’d be fine.” He said.

“Would you just take me there so that you can go home with your car or how are we gonna go about it?” Cindy asked.

“Just go with the car. I wanna have some alone time with myself.” Samuel said emptying the juice in his cup.

“Will you be fine?* Cindy asked

“Yeah…I’ll be fine. Just go already…you don’t wanna keep him waiting.” Samuel said.

Cindy nodded affirmatively and rose to her feet. She walked to his side on the dining and hugged him in his sitting position.

“Be fine for me,okay? All is gonna be well. Just be calm. Don’t brood over anything. Free your mind.” Cindy said still hugging him.

She wrapped her hands around his neck.

Samuel smiled and car-ss her arm.

“Thank you Candy Cindy. You’ve always been there for me and I’d forever be grateful to you.” Samuel said.

Cindy pecked his right cheek before standing upright.

“Bye. If you need anything, call me or ask the security. I haven’t laid my eyes on the cleaner yet.” Cindy said walking out after she’d taken the car key.

Samuel sighed deeply as he stood up from the dining going to the living room.

He located the remote on a stool and switched on the television. Although he has zero interest in whatever they’re doing. He’s not a fan of watching television.

“Cindy.. Gosh I always wondered why I didn’t asked her out back then in school. She’s the exact opposite of Alice. I wondered how I even met her. Why did I fall in love with her in the first place?” He thought as he remembered how he met Alice.

FLASHBACK

4 YEARS AGO

Samuel was seen rushing Into the hospital in hurry.
He asked a nurse the direction to the ward where they just admitted an emergency caused by a fatal accident.

The nurse gladly told him the ward and the route to took.

He didn’t remembered saying ‘thank you’ as he rushed to the said ward.

There, he met his unconscious dad with two doctors trying to revive him back to life but it seems their efforts doesn’t heed to the matter on ground.

A drop of tears trickled down his cheek watching them. Seems they haven’t noticed his presence.

Some minutes later, the doctor stopped as his dad finally breathed his last.

The doctors looked at themselves and shook their heads. They covered his head with the hospital bed sheet and made to leave the ward. That was when they saw him.

“You’re his guardian?’ One of them asked.

“His son.” Samuel sobbed.

“Take heart. You must be a doctor for you to be able to withstand the scene. Some would have scre-med their lung out. Sorry anyways, we lost him.” The doctor said patting her shoulder as they both walked out.

“Daddddd!” Samuel scre-med loudly rushing to him and removing the sheet away from his face.

“Noooo! You can’t just die. you can’t just labour in vain. Daddy please come back to me. I lobe youu” he sobbed like a little child beside his dad.

Just then, a nurse entered. She told him to go out ’cause she wanna attend to him.

Samuel grudgingly left the room for the nurse to attend to his dad.

He walked to the restroom and rinsed his face. His mum wasn’t around. She’s on the family business trip in Tokyo.

He walked out of the hospital and started his walk outside. He walked absentmindedly with his dad’s thought in his head.

He noticed a lady walking in front of him going outside…she didn’t get to see her face though but he can identify her back whenever he saw her again.

He got to his car to drove back to the hospital where he worked.

He drove faster cause he was already late. Then suddenly he saw a lady in the middle of the road walking slowly. He quickly matched on the brake and luckily he didn’t hit her but he heard the lady scre-med loudly and passe out beside the road.

He parked his car and went to her. She has really passed out. Without thinking twice, he looked around and so fortunately they’re in front of a hospital.

The nurses came with stretcher and they rushed her in.

He stayed by her side till she opened her eyes and that was how he met her.

He asked her why she wanted to get herself killed by walking on the road, she now explained things to him that:

Samuel’s phone rang jerking him off the thought.

His mum calling.

📞mum

📲son. What happened to your voice? Are you okay?

📞yes mum.

📲how is Alice doing?

📞fine mum.

📲okay…hope there’s no problem?

They continued talking for some minutes before the call ended.

Immediately, he dropped the call, he laid on the couch and slept off.

Dammie was seated in Crowns Restaurant waiting for Cindy. It’s getting to evening. She had visited his brother at work and had cunningly got access to his phone through his PA.

She had a deal with his brother’s PA.

She had texted Cindy with the phone asking to meet with her.

She waited patiently sipping from her drink.

Soon, Cindy walked in and looked around for any sign of Emmanuel but she saw none.

She was about calling him again when someone called her name. She looked at the direction and saw Dammie waving at her to come over.

She looked around again to be sure she’s in the right place before going to meet her.

She sat down still confused.

“Confused? Surprised? Or what?” Dammie teased.

“Why did you used my fiancee phone to text me? Are you scared of texting me yourself?” Cindy asked smirking.

“F*ck! See gut. Anyways…give up on my brother.” Dammie said.

Cindy smiled and folded her hands around her body.

“Go on.” Cindy said.
