l then a call came in,
looked at the screen but this
number wasn’t saved on my
phone .. so I pick the call ..
” Hello ..?” A male voice said
from accross the line .. ” hi, who
is it?” I asked .. ” it’s Samuel ..
remember me?” ” Samuel ..
adama?” I asked hoping he was the one
” yes!” My heart skipped a beat ..
Are you there? ” He continued ..
” I’ve been trying to reach you
for a long time, I just got your
number from Facebook, are you
in town? “” yes .. ” I managed to
say .. dry throat.
11 So do you think we can hook
up?” ” sure” | hung up immediately
Samuel was my first love, I can
never forget him, even though
he was overweight, I have never
loved anyone like I did him … I
was approaching my house
already. I have to control myself
from him this time around I
thought.
When I entered my room |
quickly took my bath, changed
into my s€×y sleepwear. I
logged on to Facebook to check
him out but he had already
messaged me.
So I clicked on his profile, the
person I saw hærdly looked like
Samuel which I knew .. he was
tall and handsome, still fair in
complexion and sporting a
nicely carved full beard .. my jaw dropped open.
He looked so fit It could just be picture i thought ..
that night I had a vivid dream of what happened at the m-ssage palor, with a fat Samuel running into the room and yelling ” you f-cking l-sbian!” ” Am not a l-sbian, I haven’t touched her I tried to explain to him” but he picked up the bowl of coconut oil and poured it on my face and p * ssy ..
it burned ..
After work the next day, samuel
called again, I agreed to meet
up around 7. When he picked
me up in front of the plaza, I
saw Miriam staring at me from
the second floor
” Oh well” I thought to myself.
” You look good” he said while
driving towards an orange
garden nearby. “Humor me”
after a long day at work. Samuel
looked way better than his
pictures .. ” you’ve changed a lot”
I said looking away .. ” yeah, am
no longer fat” he said laughing ..
His phone rang
” Hi, I will call you when I get
home” he said and cut the call ..
I felt kinda hurt .. was he trying
to play me again? Could it be
that he has a girlfriend? Well,
am fully equipped this time. As
if answering my questions ” that
was my mom, she wants me to
buy some groceries, they’re in
the backseat” I looked and
Indeed they were .. ” ok” | said
trying to sound unconcerned.
At the garden, we sat outside
the bar in a booth, I ordered
sparkling water and he ordered
ginger ale, ” healthy lifestyle” |
thought .. Samuel has changed a lot. We discussed for a while, he had graduated from medical
school and served, he was now
working at a hospital in town,
while I was just in final year. I
met Samuel when I was in 100L
and he was a final year student.
” I’ve really missed you” he said
after a long silence .. I expected
that .. ” ok” I said looking away ..
as if reading my thoughts he
quickly added .. ” I just want us to be friends again, we used to
have a lot of fun together” I can
settle for that, I smiled ” that’s
not a bad idea”
Throughout that week, I spent
most of my time after work at
Michael’s home, he lived in a
separate apartment in the large
compound, he didn’t seem to
have any girlfriend, he had also
introduced me to his mum and
siblings. Most of the time we
played video games, watch
movies, laugh, eat pizza at his
apartment, while I go home very
late. None of my family
members cared, he always
make sure to greet them
whenever he drops me off. I
spent the entire weekend at his
place, it was more than fun.
On Sunday evening, we were
getting exhausted from binge
watching our favorite movie
series and eating popcorn ..
Samuel wore sweatp-nts and
no shirt, he looked very fit and
even had the illusion of six
packs, I was impressed. I on the
other hand dressed casual, I
wore a yellow short flared dress
with no sleeves and packed my
hair into a ponytail. We were
lying on the bed watching TV
when a call came in. I picked
and the voice immediately
sounded familiar
But I wasn’t sure.
” I just called to check on you,
it’s been a while since I saw
you” the female voice said, ” is
this miriam?” ” yes” .. ” how is the
business” | said trying to sound casual.
