Prologue: INTRODUCTION.

“ For The Wildness Of Her Beauty Matched The Fury Of His Desire. ”

Itzel was hated by her four sisters who despised her because of her unique personalities. They saw her as a stumbling block to their progress.

Despite the evil treat from her sisters, she still loved them and never disrespect them, both to her elder and younger sisters.

She saw all of this as part of life.

She wasn’t the royalty type who feels proud of her statues. She was meek, gently, a pure spirit and respectful to everyone.

She spends most of her time in the library reading histories and herbal books. She was a good lover of books.

She believes in living a simple life and associates more with the royal maids than to her sisters and because of this, her mother tries as much as possible to see that she attended ball parties and other royal activities.

Unlike her sisters who always loves attending ball ceremonies, Itzel was different. She detest it with so much hatred and only attends to one if only she was forced to.

Everyone sees a ball ceremony as an opportunity to find suitors of noble wealth and respect but that wasn’t for Itzel. She saw it as an access whereby one has to live a fake life in other to be courted.

All these, Itzel took to be worthless until one day…

On a faithful day when she almost slipped and fell on the crown Prince of Atlantis, and was caught in his arms. Staring into those unique eyes, he found something in her no one has.

CHAPTER ONE: THE BALL DANCE (1).

London, England.

1930.

It’s been a week since king Alfred II had announced the ball ceremony which is to be held at the Stuart dynasty.

King Alfred II Milford was a famous king and is said to have ruled Avalon for almost twenty years. He had six daughters which were recognized as the most beautiful women in the Hanoverian dynasty.

Of which out of this six, one was Itzel Milford.

Itzel Milford was quiet, bookish and cared less about her father’s wealth. She prefers the simple life and has no interest in suitors who wished to marry her.

She didn’t care because in her eyes, she had no time to find love. Her parents were certainly not okay with that.

Princess Itzel sat at the library reading the history of all the past Kings of Avalon. It was her favorite book and sometimes, she’d spend her night awake all because of the book.

While princess Itzel was busy with her book, her five sisters were preparing for the ball ceremony which is to be held the next day.

Queen Eleanor walked into the library in search of Itzel for she has searched all over the castle. She knows too well how reluctant her daughter was to the invitation.

She was angry when she opened the library door to find Itzel quietly reading her books. She got more angry than she already was as she noticed the maidial dress she was putting on.

“Itzel!” She yelled her name, causing her to shiver.

“Mother, you frightened me.” She said, shutting the book close. She quickly noticed the ugly expression on her mother’s face, she inquired. “You look sad, mother, what is the problem?”

” You should be in your room packing like your sisters are and not wa-isting your time on those books!”

” It’s a history book o…”

Queen Eleanor quickly cuts her in, “silence! I do not care what book you are reading. Now up to your room and start packing.”

” Mother…” She protested, ” Do I have to attend the party? Besides,it was never written to be compulsory.”

” What a stubborn child are you. Oh, Heavens help me out for I am sick and tired of you little spunky thing. Will you get going or should I call on the guards to help you out?”

” But mother…”

” Now!” She yelled.

Itzel rolled her eyes dropping the book back in it’s shelf before exiting the library.

~*~*~*~

King Alfred II stood with his wife, Queen Eleanor and their five daughters as they waited for Itzel to show up. She was always reluctant when it comes to royal business and no one dares to question her or she changes her mind.

Time was running late, Queen Eleanor would hiss several times in just a second as she impatiently waited for her daughter. They were supposed to be at Asia on or before 6 o’clock that midnight.

That was the rule.

Just as Itzel finally showed up, she sighed for the nth time before she entered the carriage with the help of her husband.

King Alfred II rode with his wife while his six daughters rode on the same carriage. Although it was a long ride, yet, Itzel still had to get her sisters intimidations.

“I thought you hated attending the ball, why then are you riding with us?” Honoria the eldest sister questioned.

” Mother forced me to.” She replied looking down at her laps.

” You should have protested.” She queried.

“Trust me, I did but she wouldn’t listen to me.”

“Then you should have tried much h-rder. I’m sure mother will listen if you had made more effort.”

” Why bother yourself about her, sister, she’s not so good for a noble man. After all, she would only stand and watch while others dances.” Maria the fourth sister spoke.

” I can not imagine how dreadful she would be when a prince asks her for a dance.” Victoria the second of the girls added, while the rest of them laughed.

“She would step on their toes until they plead for mercy. ” Elizabeth the fifth concluded.

” Can you for once shut up,” Hazel, youngest and the last of king Alfred II’s daughters barked. “Look at her, we haven’t gotten to Asia yet and what is the discrimination all about?”

” Oh, dearest sister, we really don’t mean to discriminate her, we are only saying the truth. Aren’t we sisters?” She asked, now facing the rest of her sisters.

“Of course not.” They all chorused together.

“Now quiet, will you?”

Honoria rolled her eyes teasingly, “yes, little sister.”

The rest of the journey was a quiet one and Itzel was so thankful to Hazel for defending her. Although Hazel fancied men with noble wealth like the others yet, she was always there for her.

Finally, they got to Asia. They were only an hour early before the party could commence.

The ball ceremony was one of the major occasion celebrated all over the world. Kings and Queens usually sent invitations to noblemen to attend Royal Balls, where lavish banquets were held followed by music and medieval dancing.

Young nobles and royalties greeted each other in the form of courtesy. They would dance slowly in circle.

Sometimes, people from the noble classes would arrange some of these social events. They provided funding for them and spent a great deal of money ensuring that the events were successful attended and enjoyed by people who belonged to the same class.

In such occasions, costumes varied per class. The upper class men and women wore more vivid, dramatic and luxurious attire. They mostly wore gowns that were made of silk and other expensive materials.

Some of this costumes were strapless while others had longer sleeves for a more dramatic effect.

Various kinds of laces were used, sewn and entwined carefully over these costumes. Underneath this costumes, women wore corsets and heavily structured petticoats to form perfectly rounded shapes towards the bottom of the gown.

Headdresses were also very popular among women from the upper-class society as they played a major part of the medieval formal attire and were worn during social occasions and medieval dances.

Men, on the other hand, wore bold coloured tunics that were mostly decorated with emblems signifying their wealth and influence.

Some medieval men would carry swords, fitted at the right hand side of their belts. These expensive looking outfits usually came with leather shoes and fur hats to accessorise them.

Itzel felt nervous and scared. The ball party would be crowded and she hated the crowd. Just as the time struck 7pm, the party began.

She stood at a corner sipping on her drink while she watched her sisters one by one as they were asked for a dance. She remembered what Honoria had asked her to do in her room. Silly her to have forgotten so sudden.

She dropped the wine, walking to where her sister stood chatting with a noble Prince.

“Sister, I wish to speak with you.” Then looking at the Prince,” can I borrow my sister for a minute? ”

He nodded a yes to her.

” What is the meaning of this?” Honoria questioned angrily, ” This is Lord Arthur of Atlantis and you dared to interrupt our conversation?”

” Forgive my intrusion. I was…”

” Just spit it out, okay?”

” I need the key to your chamber.”

” Do not tell me you have not done what I asked you to do?”

Itzel said nothing. While they whispered to each other, Lord Arthur’s dark eyes travelled above Honoria’s shoulders to peer at Itzel.

“My chamber is open. As soon as you are done, have it locked.”

“Yes, sister. “She said with a nod.

Finally turning to Lord Arthur, Honoria introduced the both to each other. “Itzel this is Lord Arthur from Atlantis. Lord Arthur, meet my dearest sister, Lady Itzel Milford. “She faked a smile.

” It is an honor meeting you, your highness. ” She said with courtesy.

” A pleasure, m’lady. ”

” Guess you have somewhere else to go. ” Honoria said, giving her an eye sign to leave at the instant.

Lord Arthur looked after Lady Itzel as she retreated. The girl intrigued him, he saw something in her that enticed him. Something he haven’t seen in anyother, not even in Honoria.

He peered down at Lady Honoria as she hung on his arms. “I’m sorry for my sister’s intrusion.”

Lord Arthur smiled, “you never told me you have a sister. ”

” Sisters. ” She sighed softly, ” I have five sisters, Itzel is only the third.”

“Guess she shows on rare occasions. ” He said.

” Can we not talk about her now? “He caught hint of disappointment mixed with disgust in her voice.

Itzel kept Honoria’s stuffs in place. It was only a night at Asia and they would be returning back to Avalon the next day, so, it was a lot easier for her to get it all done.
