My master

My master episode 13

MY MASTER
EPISODE 13

Talia

I was behaving like an anxious wife, but I couldn’t help myself. I was worried about him. He had just left without saying anything. But at least Dalia was gone. I don’t think I would have survived if she was in this house. She would probably be blaming me for all this.

“Calm down, Talia” Leah said trying to stop the pacing up and down that I was doing in the kitchen.

“I wish I could, but I can’t. I’m worried about him. He left without his car”

I was scared.

Scared that something might happen to him.

“He does that sometimes. He sometimes goes for a run to let off some steam. Although he never misses dinner like he did tonight”

That just made me more anxious.

“I don’t know what I did wrong Leah. One minute we were talking and the next he is punching the damn wall and storming out of the house.” I sighed finally sitting down on one of the kitchen chairs.

“Kayden can be-”

“Be a bit too much to handle. And it seems like you’re not strong enough for someone like Kayden. I mean you’re already crying after a small fight” a voice interrupted Leah, finishing off her sentence for her.

I recognized the voice instantly and gro-ned loudly.

“I am not in the mood for your bitchy bickering Ren” I replied her.

Leah seemed surprised by my response. But I wasn’t. I was getting the feeling that everyone was thinking I’m a pushover in this house and I was not liking it one bit. But I didn’t want to put Kayden in a situation where every time he would go out he had to worry about coming back home and finding his pet straddling a certain maid and trying to pull out her hair.

Thankfully after my response, Ren had walked out leaving me with Leah.

“My God Leah, what should I-” I was cut off as I head the front door opening and closing.

I ran out of the kitchen, my eyes searching everywhere for him.

And then I saw him. He was standing there with his black shirt unbuttoned and it looked w-t, his white vest was full of… blood. I immediately sprung into action. I don’t know if it was out of concern or the adrenaline rush that came with the thought of him being hurt.

“Oh my God… Oh my God.” I chanted running towards him.

My hands ran up and down his body frantically, searching for the wound that had caused him to bleed so much.

And surprise surprise, I didn’t find any. Upon realising that the blood wasn’t his my hands immediately froze.

I looked up at him and saw his expression changing from confused to worried. I took a step away from him, my eyes on my now bloody hands.

“Lia-” he said taking a step towards me.

I took a step back, holding my hands up to show him he shouldn’t come any closer.

“Lia-” he tried again but I shook my head

My heart was pounding and suddenly I felt like I couldn’t breathe.

“Jesus, Lia calm down” he almost shouted.

But I was way to absorbed in regulating my breathing to hear him. I tried closing my eyes, so that the sick images forming in my head of how he got soaked in that much blood would evaporate. But they didn’t.
My knees gave out in panic and his arms sunclad around my wa-ist holding me up almost instantly.

I snapped out of my dreadful trance as soon as his hands came into contact with my body. I gathered as much strength as I could and pushed him away.

“Get your filthy hands off me!” I scre-med with hot tears running down my flushed cheeks.

I looked at my hands once more, the blood on them making me cringe. I suddenly felt my stomach turning.

Then I ran.

I ran frantically up the stairs. My aim was to get away from Kayden and to avoid embarrassing myself by puking all over him.

Agreed, at that time I actually thought he deserved to be puked on. But I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.

As I ran up the stairs I heard Kayden chasing after me, calling my name. I barged into my room, and ran to the toilet. I sank to my knees and emptied my dinner into the toiled bowl.

I felt a hand rubbing my back, an attempt to comfort me. I didn’t need to turn to know whose hand it was.

“Lia, are you okay?” He asked.

I shook my head signalling a no.

“I can’t be okay, not when you’re so close to me” I whispered but there was no mistaking the disgust in my voice.

I knew it was harsh, but I felt disgusted by what he had done. How could he?

“Lia, let me explain” he tried.

I turned to look at him and the pained look on his face made my heart clench. But as my eyes travelled lower and saw his blood soaked t-shirt my stomach turned once more and I turned back to the toilet bowl, emptying whatever had remained in my stomach.

I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand, gro-ning in pain. I stood up, flushed the toilet, completely ignoring Kayden’s presence. I washed my face and hands, and brushed my teeth. I sighed and turned to look for Kayden, praying that he had left. He was still there.

“Are you going to listen to me now!” He seethed.

He was angry. Probably because I had pushed my boundaries as a pet, but I couldn’t help it. It was in my nature to push boundaries. And besides I had every right to be angry. He should have listened to me and taken the blood from me. After all, I am a pet and it’s my responsibility to feed my master.

“I don’t think you have anything to say that I want to listen to, Master.”

Kayden flinched at the use of the word Master and I was happy that he noticed my reference to our relationsh¡p change. There could be no friendsh¡p between us. Not anymore. I was his pet and he was my Master.

Kayden eyes were filled with so much sadness, but he had no right to be sad. Not after having killed people today. I’m saying people because the blood on his shirt couldn’t have come from one person.

“I’m going away for a few days to join Emily. My second in command and best friend, Cole, will be here a few times to check on you and the other workers. If you need anything, you tell him.” He said.

I nodded my head, not knowing why he was telling me this. After all I was just a pet.

I looked up and I could see by his expression that he had read my thoughts. I looked away from him and he turned and began walking out.

“Master…”

“Yes Lia” he made it a point to emphasize the Lia.

“Tell Emily I’m sorry I failed her.” I said in almost a whisper.

He turned to look at me.

“You didn’t” he said back and with that he walked out of the room.

I let out a huge sigh the minute he was out of the room. I threw myself onto the bed and wondered why I felt so hurt. He was my Master and he was a vampire. It was in his nature to hurt people. I shouldn’t be affected by this.

I lay there, my thoughts all over the place.

————————-

I woke up the next morning gro-ning in pain. Probably the after effects of my date with the toilet bowl last night. I cringed as I remembered last night.

Kayden was leaving today. Even though I wouldn’t have admitted it to anyone at that time, I was a bit sad that he was going.

I pulled myself from bed and went into the bathroom to take a shower. I put on some clothes and went downstairs for breakfast, hoping to at least see him before he leaves. Not talk to him but just see him.

I got downstairs and walked into the kitchen where I found Leah at the stove.

“Morning, child” she beamed at me.

I smiled back at her.

“Morning, Leah. I hope you slept well after I had kept you up half of the night” I said apologetically.

“Oh don’t worry about that. And I slept well dear. How about you?”

I grimaced at her question and she simply nodded in understanding.

“Sit down sweetheart, I’m making pancakes”

I gro-ned at the mention of food. I was so hungry. I sat down, making small talk with Leah. She placed a plate before me, and I dug in almost immediately. I was too engrossed in my meal that I didn’t notice the figure that was standing by the door.

“Wow, you eat quite a lot for someone so tiny” a voice said.

I frowned at the words as I knew I wasn’t exactly small and looked up at the figure standing by the door.

The first thing that caught my attention were his eyes. They were the deepest shade of blue I had ever seen. He was absolutely and breathtakingly handsome. But then again so were most vampires.

“Oh don’t mind me, continue with your meal.” He said walking into the kitchen.

“Cole, let the child be” Leah’s voice cut in.

Oh, so this was the Cole.

“Leah” he beamed and went to hug her so affectionately. His eyes were shining with so much love and adoration, just like Kayden’s when he talked to Leah and Emily.

He turned to me with a smile, a genuine one.

“And you must be Talia” he said.

I smiled politely at him. He seemed nice, and rather fun.

“And you must be Cole?” I came out as a question.

“It’s nice to see the beauty that has been driving my best friend insane” he said with a smirk and I smiled at his attempt at flattering me.

Cole sat down and had breakfast with me, teasing me throughout the entire meal. He had insisted that I see him as a fellow human and not as someone above me. After our meal, we thanked Leah and walked into the lounge.

“Is he okay?” I found myself asking.

Even though I was angry at him, I still feared for his safety. His uncle wasn’t a very nice man from what I gathered and was capable of anything.

“He is fine. Especially after our little hunt yesterday” he said with a smile.

My body tensed at the mention of the hunt. And I felt my anger rising at how happy he sounded about their little ‘hunt’.

“So you helped him in killing all those innocent people last night?” I asked harshly.

His smile varnished from my face at my words.

“What are you talking about Talia?” He asked.

I rolled my eyes at him.

“You and Kayden went and drank from people last night, and killed people. You’re so inconsiderate….”

“Talia…”

“You take pets for blood but that isn’t enough is it? So you…..” I continued, ignoring him completely.

“Talia…” he said more loudly and more forcefully.

But me being me, I continued talking my head off, ranting and releasing my anger.

Cole sat back and watched me ranting, waiting for me to finish. And when I had he looked at me with the same sadness Kayden’s eyes had held last night.

“Lia, we don’t drink human blood”

My heart stopped and the words rocked me to the core.

“Wh..what?” I stammered as tears filled me eyes. The words sunk in slowly.

“Kayden and I, we don’t feed off of humans. We drink animal blood. And please tell me you didn’t insult him last night because of your assumption.”

I looked down at my laps, ashamed. His words had hit me like a ton of bricks. And from the guilty look on my face he got the answer he needed for his question.

“Damn it Talia, you should have let him explain. Kayden doesn’t need this right now. He has a lot of things on his plate. Christ” he mumbled pinching the bridge of his nose.

I began sobbing. My body collapsed onto the couch I was sitting on. Regret drained all the energy I had.

I had called him a monster.

I hadn’t given him a chance to explain when he had  begged for it.

“Just pray that Emily survives this” he said and stood up and left.

Leaving my sobbing self on the couch.
