My Master episode 15

MY MASTER
EPISODE 15

EMMYUC

Talia

“Oh my God is that a hickey?” Cole gushed the moment he saw me walking into the kitchen.

Luckily, there was no one in the kitchen; all the maids were outside. I rolled my eyes at him and he smirked.

“Argh you reek of Kayden,” he said as I passed him.

I glared at him and he shot me another smirk.

“So, did you guys make up?” He asked seriously.

I nodded and turned to sit with him after I’d grabbed some cereal.

“That’s good.” He said and began to nervously scratch his neck. “Um-did he say anything about Emily?”

I stopped chewing and looked at him. That was when it hit me.

“Fohh…my gafd fyou fike fher,” I gushed, completely ignoring the fact that my mouth was full of food.

Cole cringed. “Jesus Talia, couldn’t you have swallowed your food first?”

I chewed and swallowed my food as quickly as I could. “I’m sorry-you caught me by surprise. I was just dying to know. So…?”

He turned away from me and began walking towards the sink in silence. My gaze followed him and I knew it was making him uncomfortable.

“What is it Talia?” He gro-ned, finally giving up.

“Do you like her?” I asked.

He paused for a moment before answering. “It’s hærd not to, for she is my mate.”

“Your what now?” I asked.

He hissed, probably realising he had said what he wasn’t meant to. “I marked her by mistake on her thirteenth birthday. It’s irreversible, so we are stuck together forever-not that I mind, of course. I just wish I could be able to see her twenty-one year old self. It kinda gets frustrating to keep seeing your mate in a fourteen year old’s body.” He grunted and I nodded but remained quiet.

I wasn’t quiet because I had nothing to say; I was quiet because there was now something bothering me.

Did Kayden have a mate?

“No, he doesn’t. He hasn’t marked anyone yet.” Cole’s voice suddenly ch¡pped in and I swear I almost buried my face into my cereal in embarrassment.

“F-cken mind reading idiots.” I muttered. Cole burst out laughing as he came to sit back down next to me.

“I don’t think Kayden would appreciate being called an ‘Idiot.’” Cole said.

“Of course not, that’s why you are not going to tell him.” I said cheekily.

Cole laughed again at my response. He was about to reply, but his phone interjected.

I decided not to be rude by listening in on his conversation, so I stood and took my bowl to the sink.

“Fuuuck!” Cole growled as he hung up. I turned to look at him, worried that he had heard something bad about Kayden and Emily.

“Cole?” I asked. He knew what I was asking. I did not need to elaborate.

“Kayden is coming back in a few hours,” he whispered. The pain in his voice was evident-it pierced my heart.

“Emily…” I breathed.

I saw a tear rolling down his cheeks, and I felt my strength being drained from me.

“She died in the process of turning her into a full vampire.” He whispered

“Oh my God,” I said in a whisper.

Cole stood up from the kitchen chair and walked out of the kitchen quietly. I wanted to follow him, but I couldn’t. I did not have the power nor strength.

Emily was dead.

I slid down the cupboards as the realisation sank in.

The only friend I had ever had was dead.

My thoughts drifted to Kayden. I wondered how he was doing. I wondered how we would be when he got here. Emily meant so much to him-and now she was gone.

A sob escaped my l-ips, and I suddenly found it difficult to breathe.

After minutes of being on the floor, I stood up and dragged myself from the kitchen to my room. Everything seemed gloomy all of a sudden. I could imagine the pain Cole was feeling right now. He had lost his mate. I threw myself onto the bed and cried myself back to sleep.

————-

The sound of glass breaking woke me up.

Then a scre-m, and a loud growl.

I shot up from the bed and ran downstairs where I heard the commotion. I froze dead in my tracks when I saw him.

His t-shirt, or what was left of it was rather, was full of blood. His blood. In front of him was the overturned dining room table and a maid cowering in one corner. He growled loudly and the maid flinched. I saw the tray of food which was on the floor, and I assumed the maid had brought it for him to eat.

“I don’t want the freaking food, do you hear me?” He growled. The girl in the corner whimpered but nodded slightly.

“Kayden,” I said in what sounded like a whisper.

His head shot towards me. His expression softened when he saw me, but it then hærdened again.

“Go to your room, princess.” He demanded harshly.

I shook my head as a “No.” I was scared. As much as I wanted to rush to my room and lock myself away from him, I knew I couldn’t leave him like that.

“Go to your f-cking room Talia!” He bellowed.

Instead of listening, I took a step toward Kayden.

I reached him and tried to touch his face, but he flinched away. Pain shot through my heart at his rejection, but I understood.

I tried again, and this time he did not flinch.

“Why are you so stubborn?” He murmured under his breath as my hand made contact with his face. His expression softened a bit.

“Maybe because you should stop being so bossy,” I said with a small smile. “Let’s go.”

I took Kayden’s hand and walked with him toward the stairs. We made the way to his room, where I helped him remove the bloody shirt. His wound was already healed. He sat at the edge of the bed. I took a seat in his lap and wrapped my arms around his neck as his head rested on my chest.

We sat like that for a few minutes, comforting each other.

“It’s going to be alright,” I whispered, breaking the silence.

“She was the only one I had left, besides Kevin of course.” Kayden responded.

My heart reached out to him. I rubbed his back, trying to comfort him.

“She was my half sister,” he whispered.

My heart skipped a beat. That was the reason he loved her so much. I continued rubbing his back, sensing his need for physical comfort without words.

“My mother had an affair after my birth. She abandoned me. Emily’s mother took care of me. She was my father’s pet. Eventually, they fell for each other. And miraculously, Emily was conceived. I say miraculously because a vampire and a human cannot produce offspring. The chances are there, but they are next to impossible really”

The words sunk in so deeply, I wanted to know more. I had so many questions, but I couldn’t ask. I wanted him to tell me on his own. I wanted him to trust me fully. After all, I was sort of his now.

“My mother was lured into having an affair with my uncle, Vincent. When she saw his wicked ways, she ended the affair, but she was already pregnant with Kevin. Lord Vincent wanted his son but my mother refused, so he had killed her. Luckily, a maid escaped with Kevin. He grew up with me, under my father and his pet’s care. When Emily’s mother fell pregnant, it was kept under wraps until she gave birth. But my uncle found out that my father was in love with a pet. Fortunately, he didn’t find out about Emily. He reported the affair to the council, and they ordered that my father killed all of his pets.”

Kayden paused for a while, composing himself; but I could hear and feel the pain in his voice. It was unbearable.

“My father refused, and he chose to have himself killed instead. My uncle did the honours, of course. And soon after his death, I took over as Lord and inherited his pets. But then my uncle demanded they be taken and given to him, saying since I grew up with them, that there would be a high possibility I would become too attached. The council agreed.”

Now everything seemed to make sense.

“I killed her because those who wanted her would have done worse. She asked me to do it!” His words replayed in my head.

“They all came and begged me to kill them to save them from what lay in store in Lord Vincent’s castle. The council asked me why I did it, and I made them believe I was just as brutal as my uncle-that I killed for pleasure.”

A tear escaped Kayden’s eyes, and my heart clenched. He had really been through so much. He wasn’t a monster, he was just born amongst them. And now Emily was gone, his only blood relative.

He was now alone.

All he had was me, and I him.

“I will protect you with my life, Lia.” He said.
