My master

My master episode 26

MY MASTER

EPISODE 26

Kayden

I walked into Terissa’s house with my heart filled with so much fear and worry.

“How the hell did this happen?” I asked Terissa as she walked me to her study where she kept all her charms and spelbooks.

“Well I’m thinking it’s something to do with you your genes. You and your father. It seems you have this special ability to actually mate with humans and produce offspring” she said.

I stood at the entrance of her study, trying to understand what in God’s name she was saying.

“Then why is it was only my father and I who can do this, why not Darrien or Kevin.?” I asked. They were of the same bloodline with me so they had to have this ‘special ability’.

“Well maybe it is because it only works when there is a mutual feeling of love between the human and the vampire.”

Well that explained a lot. But it still hærdly gave me a solution to this mess I had created for Talia and I. And before you start calling me names, I am not saying this baby is a mess. It just came at a pretty bad time.

“What do I do?” I asked in a whisper.

Terissa was silent as she played with some pieces of paper that were on her desk.

“Well I was gonna suggest you hiding but it’s a little too late by now. Kevin has already notified your uncle and you know how that will turn out.”

I hissed in annoyance as I realised this was going to prove to be even more difficult.

“If your uncle is going to tell the Council, he will probably do it at the next Council seating. The one where your cousin, Darrien might be made head of the Council” she said.

I felt like my world was crumbling down before me. Lord knows what Darrien and his father would do if and when Darrien ascends into the title of being Council leader.

To be honest I did not even know how he had even managed to get nominated, he was never even part of the council to begin with and he hadn’t been Lord yet. How then did he manage to get nominated as the head of Council.

“I have information that might help you, information on Darrien that you can use.” Terissa said.

I was ready to listen. And I was ready to do anything. Even if it meant going to my enemy to negotiate.

——————–

I walked into the Palace just before sunrise. Those who had had the privilege of staying over at the Palace where obviously beginning their slumber by now.

As I was walking to my room, I was surprised to see Darrien sitting on the carpet in the hallway, leaning against his bedroom door with his head hung low.

Never in my life had I seen Darrien in such a sorry state. Everything that Terissa had said to me now made sense. Darrien really was a broken man. And he was a man under oppression.

I walked over to him, and slid down sitting beside him on the carpet beside him with my back leaning against the wall.

We sat in silence, without acknowledging each other’s presence.

She’s pregnant” he suddenly whispered.

I looked at the carpet as I fought to swallow the big lump that was now lodged in my throat.

“I know” I said in a voice I hærdly recognised.

“Father knows” he added.

Again I found myself staring at the carpet as if it were some piece of art.

“I know that too” I said.

“You’re not going to let her die, are you?”

I shook my head a no. And it was the truth. I was not going to let anyone hurt Talia. I was gonna protect her with my life.

“I would rather die in her place” I said.

He chuckled at my answer. I knew he knew how it felt to love and care for someone so deeply that you felt lost without them. The only thing he did not know nor understand however was that loving and caring for someone sometimes wasn’t enough. Sometimes you needed to be willing to lay down your life for that person. You needed to be able to give up everything just so they could smile.

“Love, it’s so blinding and foolish” he said bitterly.

“And yet you almost risked being disowned by your father when you ran after Anna because of it” I replied.

A pained expression flashed across his face.

“My point exactly. It’s foolish and blinding” he recovered.

I stayed quiet. Suddenly feeling sorry for him for the first time in my life.

“Do you miss her?” I asked him.

He didn’t reply right away. He also seemed fascinated by the carpet all of a sudden.

“Sometimes” he said in a barely audible whisper.

We entered into another silence. One that would have been awkward if not for our troubled souls soothing each other.

“I need your help” I said in a barely audible whisper.

“And I need yours” he said back. “But I never trust my enemies no matter how seemingly trustworthy and helpful they have suddenly become”

“And what if they have become desperate”

“I will help Talia, not you” he said.

“Good enough for me.”

————————

I ran back to the mansion after a bath and breakfast with the guests that had decided to stay over. It was mainly members of the Council who had stayed over.

I walked into the mansion and immediately a cold chill ran down my spine.

I ran towards my room. I didn’t know why I was going there, and I couldn’t stop myself. It’s like someone was calling me, pushing my legs to move on their own accord.

I burst into me room, making heads turn towards me.

“Kayden, thank God you’re home” Emily said running towards me.

I would have asked her why, but I saw the reason for her panic.

Talia was lying lifeless and pale on the bed, with a drip attached to her hand.

“What happened?” I asked.

“Why didn’t you tell me you marked her. I would have told you how absolutely draining it is for humans. I was a half breed and it was painful and weakening. What more Talia who is a human” she shouted.

“Well excuse me for not thinking that you would want to hear something as intimate as that” I said pushing past her.

I sat on the bed, next to Talia. She looked extremely pale, like her life had been s-cked out of her.

I’m sorry” I whispered to her. What exactly was I sorry for?

“The marking isn’t the major problem, the pregnancy is” Emily reminded me.

I gro-ned in frustration. I loved my little sister, but she just got on my nerves sometimes.

“I know. I’m working on a plan.” I said through clenched teeth.

“Just make sure neither Darrien nor that stupid uncle of yours don’t find out.”

I chuckled darkly. Now he was my uncle and not our uncle.

“They already know. And I’m working on it. The next Council meeting is in 2 weeks, I will have a plan by then.” I said.

Even I knew that my voice didn’t sound convincing.

“Fine. Just give her some of your blood. The baby seems to be feeding off of her as well.” Emily huffed and walked out.

I looked back to my sleeping mate. And the faint thud thud that was coming from in,side her.

A small smile cracked onto my l-ips as the though of being a father settled in my mind.

I brought my wrist to my mouth and bit into it. As the blood began to drip out I lower my wrist onto her parted l-ips.

“Drink Lia” I urged as the first first few drops dripped into her mouth.

She grabbed on my wrist then began s-cking. I smiled lightly at her sudden greediness. I would have to tease her when she woke up.

I pulled my hand back, earning a gro-n of protest from her.

I chuckled. “That’s okay for now my love” I said.

“I hate you” she whined as she opened her eyes slowly.

“I thought I had changed your mind about that” I said with a small smile.

“You had. Until your little soldier in here” she motioned to her stomach, ” decided to play football with in,side me”

I laughed at this, and was glad to see that she was not mad at me for making her pregnant or for not telling her.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” She asked.

It was a question I had been expecting but I had still been dreading it.

“I thought you’d be angry with me” I whispered.

She smiled slightly at my words.

“It’s not your fault that your seed craves to fertilize the unaccepted”

I let out another laugh. Her sense of humour was refreshing. In more ways than one.

“What happened between you and Darrien last night?” I asked.

It was a question that had been bothering the wh0le night, even though I knew it was nothing bad, I was still curious.

“I saw him in the garden when I went for a walk. He asked me to sit with him and I did. Then we talked” she explained.

I frowned at her response. I wasn’t satisfied.

“About what?” I pushed.

“Anya” she said simply.

Now I was surprised. I only just got to know about Anya, and I had heard it from Terissa.

“He is not a bad man. He just a broken man.” She whispered.

“I know baby. But I still don’t fully trust him”

She sighed but nodded her head in understanding.

“Come to bed” she whispered.

“It’s almost midday” I argued.

” I am pregnant, I am obligated to feel sleepy during the day” she said.

I laughed again and began stripping.

I got into bed with her, pulling her against my chest, paying attention to the arm which was still attached to the drip from the blood bag.

“We’re gonna get through this right?” She whispered.

“I will make sure of it.” I said and this time my voice held conviction.
