I hurried out of the house but not without being questioned by the gatekeeper who kept looking at me in a suspicious way.

I finally got a taxi after waiting for minutes,

“The nearest market please “. I said to the driver and he zoomed off immediately.

I was observing everywhere when my phone vibrated, I checked it and it was a message from the maid earlier.

The boss and his daughter do not eat foods brought from a local market, look for an advanced market or just get it at the nearest shoprite… The message said

Mtcheeew, iranu ( nonsense) I wonder why these rich people choose to ignore those who are struggling hærd to sell goods to feed their family and go for the costly preserved ones.

How am I suppose to ignore those that sell theirs at cheaper price and go for the costly ones, where am I supposed to get the money from?

He certainly wouldn’t know I bought it from a local market when I finish cooking it and he feels the delicious taste in his mouth.

I just hope it turns out well because I don’t have any other means of refunding the money I borrowed apart from the first salary I’ll receive here.

“We’re here ma’am”. The taxi driver said. Oh! here you go thanks for your service. I said stretching him the fare.

I got to the market and bought everything I’ll be needing in hurry. I didn’t even get the chance to bargain very well.

There’s no need for fish or meat, the freezer is stocked with varieties. I thought as I go through everything I bought.

I was about paying for the roasted corn I bought when I heard someone call my name.

I was shocked to see Abraham, my senior in high school. He look so handsome and neatly dressed as he used to while in school.

Hey what’s up! I greeted cheerfully. Nothing much it’s been ages, how have you been? He asked and reached for an hug, tho I was a bit reluctant but I had no choice.

I’m good, what are you doing in the market? I asked.

Oh! Yeah, I came here with my mom. So I was busy observing the wh0le surrounding when I sighted you , I was doubting at first but I decided to give it a try and it turned out to be you indeed.

You’ve become more beautiful than you were. What’s up how has life been now? He said but I was so impatient

Look! I’ve got to go now, I have to hurry back home before my boss returns. I said and turned to leave.

Oh! I’m sorry for the delay but how about we hang out some other time, here is my business card don’t hesitate to visit me anytime you’re free.

Please can I have your contact? I’m sure you wouldn’t call if I ask you to call the number on the card, I know you ladies for that… He said

I collected the phone from him and input my digit on it. Alright bye… I said and ran off.

Hey! You came a bit late, you know it’s almost two and you know the time both father and daughter returns the maid said as I entered the house

I know right, I was caught up in a little traffic, you know how Lagos is nah. Please I need you to lend me a helping hand.

This food must be ready before they return and it takes a little while before it all get cooked. I said to her

No problem, let’s get started. She said and we both took our aprons.

Wow! You must be a great chef, the aroma has filled the entire kitchen and even the sitting room. I’m sure the boss wouldn’t wanna miss this food for no reason. She said

That’s because my mom taught me well, she’s really the best chef I’ve ever known. This is our favourite so we cook it frequently at home. i replied.

Help me check Mae’s food, I need to start making the Amala, the water’s boiled already… I said to her.

This is cooked already it tastes really yummy and delicious, i must commend you did a great work. should I dish it out? She asked after tasting it.

Thanks for the compliment, don’t dish it out yet, just place the dishes on the table, I’ll serve it together with the boss’s own. I said as I waited for the Amala to get cooked.

Whatever! But I’ll take some of this, afterall, she can’t finish everything. And who knows if she’d eat it , you know she’s a drama queen.

I know right just don’t take too much, I said

Alright thanks, the food is so delicious I just can’t miss having some portion. But wait what will you eat? She asked me

I’ll rather eat Amala, remember I said it’s my favorite. I replied

Just make haste they should return any moment from now… She said

I served the meals in different plates after eating my own portion, I took them to the dinning room and made sure I placed them neatly on the table.

I returned back to the kitchen to clean the mess up only to find the cleaner cleaning it already.

Don’t worry, I messed the place up so it’s my duty to get the place cleaned up. I said

Wow! Thanks you’re indeed a nice woman unlike the previous nannies. They were so rude to us, but Mae actually revenged on our behalves because she hates it so much when someone treats us badly…. She said, just then ROSE, the maid we both worked together earlier rushed in.

“They’ve arrived, I saw their car drive in just now” she said

“Wow! They came just in time” I said and quickly cleaned the kitchen before running to wait for them in the sitting room.

“Welcome sir” I and every other works greeted with a slight bow as soon as he entered with his daughter.

“Thank you” he responded and walked away while Mae trailed behind him.

Wow! What’s this aroma I’m perceiving… They both said in unison as they stopped on their tracks.

I’m sorry about what I did earlier sir, I made Amala for you and prepared Macaroni and cheese for Mae. I answered with a bow

Wow! did you just say Amala? Wait how did you know it’s my favorite, just set the table, I need to go freshen up before coming to eat it.

It’s been a while since I ate it, I’ve missed my mom so much for that… He said and waltz away.

“I guess he’s forgiven me” I thought. Mae darling, bring your backpack let me take it upstairs with you.

I know it’s rose that told you what our favorites are but trust me, I still can’t accept you as my Nanny… Mae said

Take my backpack upstairs and prepare my bath, I need to be in the kitchen, I can’t eat that damn food you cooked…. She added

I did as I was told but I had the feeling she wanna do something mischievous.

I scoffed as I watched her pour salt in the food I served. Lol this girl is really mischievous than I thought… I said and went ahead to the room

She came in minutes later just as I finished preparing her bath.

I left the room immediately she entered the bathroom and went straight to the kitchen to take care of the mess she made.

Rose laughed when she saw me change the food after telling her what she did.

Only God can settle the matter between you both… She said.

“Here it is sir” I said placing the plate of soup and food before him.

Wow! I’ve missed this, thanks for making this, I’ve forgiven you already. I just hope it’s delicious….He said as he sniffed the aroma and washed his hand.

Eeeew Dad! Why do you like this blackish food this much, Mae said irritatedly.

“You don’t know what’s good” he said dipping his first mosel in the soup.

Are you sure you wanna eat the food cooked by her? She asked again and he nodded.

Here is your food too, you must eat it. I didn’t just spend hours making this for you to reject it like that.

“You must eat it” she said in a final tone sounding so serious.

Are you for real? Are you being serious right now? Like you’re ordering me to eat? She said with a smirk and I nodded.

Yes I’m being serious and as you can see, your dad’s about to eat his, so start eating before I loose it… I replied

Dad won’t you say anything? She said to him but he ignored her instead.

Never talk while eating was the only thing he said before finally taking the swallow in.

You can see dad’s already eating his, so start yours now!!!! I ordered wearing a serious look.

She reluctantly took the fork and shove some quantity in her mouth.

“Hmmmn” we heard the boss sound as he paused eating and directed our gazes on him.
