Episode-12
Uche dressed casually and headed to his mother’s house that afternoon. He still wondered who she wanted to introduce to him.. His mother is so unpredictable and dramatic but nevertheless, he still went.
He arrived, knocked on the door and his mother opened up smiling at him.
He went in and sat on the sofa. “Good afternoon mom..”
“Good afternoon my lovely and handsome son”Perpetual smiled
Uche looked at her In surprise
“See Mom, I don’t understand the reason for ur cozy attitude.. The last time I was here, u literally brought down heaven..Anyways, who is it u wanted to introduce me to?”
“Oh calm down…”She said and brought out her phone to make a call.
“Hello?…Yes, where are u?…. OK, hurry up he’s here already” She ended the call.
“Mom who was that?”Uche was inquisitive
“Calm down…. Come over to the dinning.. I made ur favorite” Perpetual said leading the way..
Uche was astonished when he got to the table and met his favorite indeed..Ofe ede (cocoyam soup) and well pounded Fufu.
The last time his mother had prepared something like this for him was during his matriculation in the University years ago.
He sniffed and inhaled the aroma smiling.
“I don’t know what you’re up to Mom.. But I like this..”
He quickly washed his hands and pounced on the food.
Few minutes later, the door bell rang and his mother went to open the door.
She came in with a well adorned chocolate skin lady dressed in a s€×y mini gown that revealed all her assets.. She smiled and stretched her hand towards him.. He used his left free hand to shake her very soft palms.
Perpetual ushered her to the seat opposite Uche who suddenly lost his appetite and couldn’t eat anymore as the young lady smiled at him endlessly.
“Uche, this is Best.. My friend’s daughter… And Best, this is Uche my son I told u about”
Best kept smiling and Uche was forced to smile back.
“Nice meeting u Best”Uche said
“It’s my pleasure.. And I must confess, you’re so handsome”
“And you’re beautiful as well”
Best blushed at his compliment.
Perpetual cleared her throat… “OK, I guess I’d leave you two here while I go in and do one or two things” She stood up and went in leaving Uche and Best.
Ushe washed his hands and moved his plates aside. Best was watching him which made him very uncomfortable.
“Are u always shy? Or.. You’re just shy coz of my presence”Best asked
Uche looked up at her face for the very first time.. She’s a beauty to behold!
“Am not a shy person.. It’s just that it’s my first time of meeting you.. So am adjusting.. You know..”
Best touched his face
“I like u already and I can’t wait to be your wife”
“Wife?”Uche was surprised
“Yes.. When my mom and your mom told me about this, I was skeptical.. Then she showed me your picture and I was like wow! But the moment I stepped in here and saw u, I must confess that picture didn’t do justice to u because you’re way more handsome in person!”
“Oh.. Thank u…so ain’t you going to eat something?”
“Not until you continue with yours”
“But am full already”Uche protested
“Still eat.. I don’t like eating alone while someone watches me”
“OK fine..”
Uche dished Fufu and soup from the big bowl on the table and passed it to her while he settled for his own and they ate in silence.
When they were done, they cleared the table together and went to the Living room where they told each other about themselves as they watched TV.. later, Uche went to the fridge and found cookies which he brought and they both ate still laughing and gisting.
Later on, Best glanced at her wrist watch and announced that she wants to leave..
Perpetual came out and together they saw her off to her car.. she bid Uche farewell and drove off.
Going back to the house, Perpetual turned to Uche.
“So, what do u think about her?”
“She’s a good girl…”
“And??”
“And what?”Uche asked
“Doesnt she make a good wife?”
“Mom pleaseeeee… She’s nice and beautiful, but it’s still Fauzia or no one else.. ”
Perpetual bite her hand in anger “I always knew you are a fool.. A big one at that.. Oh Uche, why have u decided to kill me? See a beautiful well mannered Yoruba girl I brought for you.. Yet u still chose that Hausa dog..”
“Mom don’t call Fauzi names plz”
“Oh shut up you stupid boy!!! Just know this, u will never marry that girl…it’s either u marry Best or I kill myself!!”
“Mom!!”Uche exclaimed in shock
“Yes, I’ll kill myself for u since that’s what u want.. Useless child”Perpetual hissed and walked in…
Uche was in his car driving home in deep thoughts when his phone rang..he smiled, parked over and picked the call..
“My heartbeat..”
“My soul…youve not called me today and I’ve been worried”Fauzi said on the other end.
“Am sorry my love.. I’ve been at mom’s place since morning and you know how she is..”
“Oh.. So how’s she?”
“Still the same”He sighed
“Where are u right now? Can we meet? I’ve missed u”
“On my way home but where are u so I can come over?”
“Just drive to my lodge in school.. Hadi is dressing up to go out so we’d be home alone”
“OK love,, I’ll be there before u say Jack!”
Fauzi laughed n ended the call..
In about an hour, Uche arrived Fauzi’s lodge and she welcomed him in,side..

Mayor: Alhaji, I just saw the guy.. Yes sir.. He entered Fauzi’s lodge just now.. OK sir..

AT A BAR
Jide was drinking in a Bar with his Friend Chibuike… It was obvious that Jide was already drunk.
“Man! Do u want to kill yourself? This is the seventh bottle you’re drinking now.. I won’t let you take another one”Chibuike said
“Chibyke you no go understand this life.. I love this girl but my brother Pascal is the obstacle.. Guy, I never see my son for 5years..How can I make it up to her? I know I’ve hurt her but am sorry!!”Jide said and busted into tears.
Chibuike has never seen Jide like this before and knew he must be very hurt..
“Take it easy… U think drinking yourself to death would solve anything? you have to put yourself and think of a way out!”
Jide ignored his advice and shouted “Waiter! Bring one more bottle!!”
The waiter quickly brought in another bottle and Chibuike seized it.
“You this foolish waiter.. He said bring another bottle and you stupidly brought it.. U no see the face of the person wey dey order? Do u want to kill him??”Chibuike asked the waiter in annoyance.
“Oga na my job I dey do.. No be my business if him wan die”He hissed collecting the drink from Chibuike
“Idiot!!”Chibuike cursed him..
“Why would u do that??”Jide queried his friend..
Jide’s phone rang at that instant and he picked it up trying hærd to control his shaking hands..
“Hello? Who is this??”He barked
Hearing the name of the caller, he sat upright..
“OK.. I’ll be on my way now.. thank u”he dropped the call and faced Chibuike
“That was Janne.. she wants me to meet her at her place now”
“Why?”
“I have no idea but I’d be going now”Jide said and tried to stand up but he fell back to the chair obviously very drunk.
Chibuike held him and helped him up.
“I’ll drive u to her place if you’re still sane enough to know the direction to her house”
Chibuike helped him to his car and drove him off to Janne’s place…

Hadiza and Azeez were at Alhaji’s Residence drinking and laughing.
“No.. It’s so funny nah.. I was like, I’ll remove my hijab and beat shege out of your body.. U don’t know me”
They both laughed
“You know.. People take advantage of Muslimis..They think girls like you are naive and timid”
“Exactly! I wanted to fight him o”
“But he’d have beaten u blue, black”Azeez laughed
“Beat who? Gaskiya you don’t know me”
Azeez phone rang n he looked at the caller ID.. “Your friend”he told Hadiza, then picked it up..
“Yes.. Fauzi.. Menene??”
Pause..
“What?!!”He stood up
“Just put yourself together.. I’ll be with u in a moment”
Call ended
“Meene? What’s the problem?”Hadiza inquired
“Fauzi said masked men barged into the house and took Uche away”
“woyo Allah!!!”Hadiza scre-med in fear..
“Let’s get going”….
They stepped outside hurriedly and met Alhaji’s car driving in.
Azeez waited to greet his Father n tell him the situation.
“Ina wuni baba”He greeted
Hadi courtseyed too greeting Alhaji
“Afternoon.. Where are u two up to??”Alhaji asked
“Just got a call from Fauzi that some masked men took Uche away”
“Oh I see… Well, Azeez for ur own good.. Don’t get involved in this issue.. It’s all my handiwork”
Azeez gaped in surprise
“Baba!! But why?”
“I’ve warned the fool calmly to stay off my daughter but it’s obvious he sold his ears in Garaka market so let me teach him a little lesson.. Just a little..”Alhaji said walking in,side as 2 guards followed him.
Hadiza and Azeez looked at themselves in shock and hurriedly entered the car and zoomed off…

Chibuike drove Jide to Janne’s apartment that night… Honked on the gate and the gateman opened the gate while he drove in.
Janne was outside the verandah waiting for them.
As soon as Chibuike stopped the car, he came down and went to the other door to help Jide out.
Janne ran to his side
“What happened to him?”She panicked
“He has been drinking himself to death because of you”He said a bit angry.
Janne kept quiet and helped Chibuike carry Jide into her house.
He lay down on the sofa and dozed off.
“Thank u very much for bringing him here without allowing him drive himself”
“He’s my friend and I owe him alot… But I must tell u something Janne, my friend loves you alot and all what he told u is the truth.. He feels sorry for how he abandoned you and your son but it was because of situations he couldn’t control.. I hope God forgive him and make him a happy man again”
Janne nodded and smiled.
“Thank you very much”
“Alright, I’ll be on my way now.. When he wakes up, tell him I took his car to my house.. He should come over and get it.. That’s for the stress he put me through today”
Janne laughed and saw him off to the door.
She came in and sat close to Jide who was snoring by now.
She fondled his hair..
“I love you Jide”She whispered…

Uche was bundled and taken into Alhaji’s guard room. He was locked up there..
Later, Alhaji came in the company of 4 guards. He used his walking stick to hit Uche on the head and he scre-med in pains..
“You little brat.. Did I warn u to stay away from my daughter or not?”Alhaji barked
Uche was quiet but when a guard landed him a blow on his mouth, he scre-med.
“Yesssssss..Yess sir”
“So why did u disobey me? ”
“I… I loveeee Herrr sirr”Uche stammered
“Yen Yen Yen Yen”Alhaji mimicked..
“Torr..baa ruwana.. I’ll teach u how to unlove her..”
He turned to his guards.. “Plz teach this bastard how to unlove my daughter”
They nodded and he left with 2 guards while the other 2 remained and started beating Uche…

AT AN EATERY
Pascal sat down with a fair beautiful lady smiling and talking.
“Babe I love you and you know it”
The girl who’s name is Sharon blushed
“You love me or my body?”
“I love you.. Am being sincere here honestly.. If only you could give me a chance..”
“Okay o.. Let’s see how it goes”She said and Pascal stretched his neck and k-ssed her but a loud slap landed on his face.
He jumped up and Lo and Behold it was Vicky!
“ehh ehh so this is the meeting you’re having abii?”Vicky clapped
She moved closer to Sharon who was visibly shaken
“Is this not your Secretary? Young Lady so you’re the riff raff snatching my man abii?”
Sharon shook her head in the negative.. People were already drawn to the scene.
“Vicky please.. People are looking at us, can u calm down?”Pascal pleaded with a low tone.
“Shut up your mouth you cheating bastard!!”Vicky scre-med And took the drink on the table and poured him from his head..
People shouted “Ouchhh” some had already started videoing the scene.
She moved over to Sharon and removed her wig landing her severe slaps which got the girl crying.. At this point, Pascal shamefully sneaked out while Vicky kept beating the girl.
It was the Security men that came to her rescue…

Azeez and Hadiza hurriedly went over to Fauzi’s lodge and met her crying… Azeez explained that their father was responsible for it.
“Ah.. How can Baba be this wicked? Only Allah knows what they must have done to him.. Oh Uche”Fauzi cried uncontrollably.. Hadiza consoled her..
Fauzi suddenly stood up and dashed to the door as Azeez and Hadiza chased after her.
“Fauzi where are u going to?”Azeez shouted.
“To meet Baba.. To confront him..”She said and hopped into her car and before they could stop her, she sped off..
Azeez and Hadiza entered into Azeez’s car and followed her.
Fauzi arrived the house in few minutes and barged into the living room.
“Baba! Baba!!”She scre-med in rage.
Alhaji came down to meet her with 2 guards..
“Have u suddenly lost your manners??”Alhaji asked
“Baba how could u? Why?? Why would u kidnap Uche? What in Allah’s name did he do to you?? Why are u this wicked?”Fauzi scre-med enraged
Alhaji was taking aback by her uproar
“You have the guts to scre-m at me?”He asked..
“I will talk to you anyhow I like Baba.. I never knew you were this wicked.. Where did u keep him? What have u done to him?”Fauzi scre-med and a slap landed on her face.. She raised her face up and another one landed on the second cheek.. Her Father had slapped her for the first time in her entire life!! She was shocked beyond words.
“Anymore word from you and I’ll show you that I am still a full blooded Military man active in service.. I will forget that you’re my daughter and manhandle u!!”Alhaji said..
Fauzi’s mouth was already bleeding when Azeez and Hadiza barged in and saw the tensed atmosphere..
“Baba what is it??”Azeez asked confused..
Alhaji Ignored him and called Mayor… “Bring out that bastard..i believe he has Learnt his lessons”
Soon, Mayor carried Uche out.. He looked like he was already dead as there was blood all over his body with swollen eyes and battered body. He was really an eye sore.
Fauzi scre-med on seeing him and ran towards Mayor but Jaja quickly held her back.
“You’re not my father! You’re wicked and heartless!! You’re a monster”Fauzi scre-med trying to be free from Jaja’s hold..
“Take her into the guard room.. I think she has to learn some manners.. I spoilt her alot”Alhaji ordered and Jaja carried Fauzi away.
Both Hadiza and Azeez were shocked.
“Baba please”Azeez pleaded but Alhaji raised his hands telling him to keep shut then he walked upstairs.
Azeez turned to Mayor who was still holding the half-dead Uche.. “take him to my car..am taking him to the hospital right away”
“Yes boss”Mayor replied and went out..
Hadiza was shedding tears as she followed Azeez to the hospital…

JANNE’S RESIDENCE
Jide woke up with a start. He was on a bed covered with a thick duvet and he was wearing just singlet and boxers. He couldn’t figure out where he was.. He jumped from the bed looking around and just then, the door opened and Janne came in still in her nightie.
“I see you’re awake.. Good morning”Janne smiled
Jide sat down on the bed with his hands on his head recalling the previous night incidence..
He looked up at Janne who was still standing.
“Janne am sorry I got drunk… I just needed a distraction”
She sat down beside him.. “No problems.. I’ve decided to see your Dad so I’d know the truth about all these..”
Jide’s face lit up in Joy “Thank you so much for this chance”
Janne stood up and headed for the door “Better freshen up and come to the Dinning.. Your son can’t wait to meet you”
Jide looked at her in surprise “Oluwajuwon is here?”
She nodded in affirmative
Jide brushed her aside and ran to the living room.. Sitting and playing with a toy was his exact replica… the boy hadn’t seen him yet.. tears filled Jide’s eyes..
“Oluwajuwon?!”
The boy stopped playing and looked up
“Daddy? Are u my Daddy??”He asked with childish innocence
“Yes, Yes.. come here..”
Juwon ran to him and he carried him up in tight embrace and cried in Joy..
He sat down on the sofa with Juwon on his lap..
“Daddy why are u crying? Did anyone beat you?.. Tell me.. I will give the person superman punch”Juwon demonstrated and Jide laughed..
“I love you Juwon..”He said car-ssing the boy’s hair.
“I love you too… Please don’t travel again.. Grandma and mummy will always tell me you travelled.. I’ll miss you if u travel again”He said innocently
Jide smiled “I promise you, I won’t travel again”He k-ssed his forehead.
Janne who stood beside the dinning watching the drama shed tears…

Vicky walked into Pascal’s office totally ignoring Sharon the Secretary. She barged into Pascal’s Office without even knocking. Pascal who was busy with his laptop looked up and sighed in frustration.
“Victoria, what are u doing here?”He asked
“And what sort of unreasonable question is that?”Vicky asked sitting on his table exposing her laps.
“Who let u in? How can Sharon let u in even when I strictly warned her I needed no visitors??”Pascal said angrily
“The daughter of a butch wouldn’t dare stop me else I’d have redesigned her stupid face”
Pascal sighed
“OK.. what do u want?”
Vicky moved s€×ily closer to him and started playing with his tie
“I want you baby.. you’ve been ignoring my calls and avoiding me. you don’t even come to our usual hotel anymore..”
Pascal pushed her aside
“How would I pick your calls after the embarasment u put me through the last time?”
“Okay am sorry.. But I was just protecting what’s mine!”
Pascal gave a funny laugh.. “Protecting what’s yours.. Wait let me make it straight to you.. I can never marry someone like you!”
Vicky withdrew in shock..
“Oh yes! Someone who can stoop low as to sed-ce her best friend’s boyfriend into sleeping and having a relationsh¡p with her.. Only God knows how many of my friends you’ve slept with behind me.. Now listen and listen carefully, I am so done with you.. If I ever see you anywhere close to my office or house, I’ll make sure I arrest you!! Now leaveeee”Pascal thundered and Vicky was shocked and started crying
“Please baby am sorry..”She cried
Pascal dialed a number on his office phone
“Joseph! Ibrahim!! To my office immediately!!”
2 huge men came in..
“Please take her out”
They bundled her and took her away as she kept crying and begging.
After they left, Sharon came in smiling..
“I did it for you.. I love u”Pascal said..
“I love u too”She replied…
