CHAPTER 39.
.
Rosanne held her breath, as she knocked lightly on the crown prince’s door, the tray in her hand getting heavier by the minute.

“Breakfast for your Highness!” Rosanne announced and after three seconds, she pushed the wooden door open and walked in.
As usual, the crown prince stood beside the window, which Rosanne mentally placed as his favourite sā‚±0t, since he constantly remains there every time she walks in his room.

Quietly placing the food on his bed and was about to walk out. Rosanne stopped on her tracks when she heard the crown prince call her name. He’s been calling her a lot more than she had expected.

“Y-yes your Highness?”. Rosanne gave a small bow.
The crown prince turned to her, shirtless as always and immediately the words left his mouth.

“Would you like to learn how to write.?”

Rosanne blinked rapidly hearing the words leave the mouth of his Highness.

“Yes… Yes of course” she beamed. Trying to contain her happiness. But immediately her smile faded. “But then again I can’t” Rosanne shook her head.

“what do you mean you can’t?” The crown prince barked.

“Because I’ll be be-headed if the king finds out a maiden like me knows how to read or write, I’m sorry your Highness, thank you for offering to teach me.” Rosanne smiled politely.

“Nonsense!” The crown prince yelled, causing Rosanne to flinch.

“Orrander is a useless place. With its balderdash rules and bilge way of living, women should be thought how to read and write, I must comment, my father is a very foolish man and he is feeding you people of Orrander his foolishness, obeying his rules are like obeying trees” The crown prince spat angrily, and Rosanne did nothing but stare at him as he spoke ill of his father and mostly spoke ill of Orrander itself. He was speaking more words than ever, she suddenly recalled how quiet he can be, since when did he talk so much.

“Well, I’m sorry your Highness, it’s not my fault that I was birthed in Orrander” Rosanne bowed.

The crown prince scoffed. “Did you hear that?” He asked and Rosanne looked up at him.
“Hear what?” Rosanne asked under her breath, but the crown prince wasn’t looking at her.

“Did you hear that It’s not her fault for being birthed into Orrander!” The crown prince spat bitterly.
Rosanne looked sideways, her face expression holding nothing but confusion, who was the crown prince talking to.?

Rosanne remained quiet, letting the prince speak to whatever he was ranting to.

Rosanne blinked rapidly when the crown prince stopped talking, she had no idea what just happened and immediately killed the curious urge to ask.

“I’ll be taking my leave now,” Rosanne bowed.
“And I will be teaching you how to read and write” The crown prince spat.

“But I might get Into trouble your Highness.” Rosanne’s voice trembled. She was excited for such opportunity, so excited she could burst out in flames any minute from now, but at the same time she could get into trouble.

“Orrander is a perilous place to live, is that what you’re saying?” Asked the crown prince taking a step forward.

“What? No. Your Highness, it’s certainly isn’t, it’s just the rules that are…
“The rules exactly!” The crown prince interrupted, his voice loud and scary.

“You are learning to read whether or not you want to.” The crown prince spat. “Get an ink ready, I’ll meet you in the ball room, you can leave now.” The crown prince added.
Rosanne was beyond confused, as she gave a light bow before Walking out of his Highness room.
He’s being nice but in a an angry and livid way. Who does that?

Walking down the wooden stairs and to her room, Rosanne smiled to herself. “I could learn to read or write and no one is ever going to know, I could tell just father and garam and beg them to keep it a secret, I can’t miss out on such perfect opportunity. Oh mother of Orrander, please bless his Highness” Rosanne beamed as she left to mix some ink for herself.

“Martha… Martha!” Betty called, her voice loud and clear, waking her sleeping daughter.

“Yes mother” Martha gro-ned as she slowly opened her eyes.

“How can you still asleep, there’s good news!” Betty smiled.

“Good news?” Martha repeated, sitting up.
“Yes… Royals guards from the castle just came to announce about the Hayest Festival.” Betty smiled, happiness laying still on her eyes.

“Hayest festival. What is that?” Martha asked.
“oh, the Hayest festival hasn’t been celebrated for years now and has been forgotten, bless king Archibald for bringing again such festival, I used to love it growing up as a young maiden here in orrander, it was one of my favorites, maidens will dress up in one of their best dresses to sweep any lad off their feet it was on-
“Mother” Martha interrupted getting bored.
“I didn’t ask for your childhood stories, I asked what a Hayest festival was.” Martha shook her head.

Betty sighed. “A Hayest festival is a festival that was once celebrated in orrander, it’s usually celebrated when the village has been blessed by something good, it was mostly celebrated when the queen or someone from the royal family gives birth, or when a new king is crowned or when the village wins a war, or even when it rains, it’s when orrander and the villages near by, comes together to celebrate it, every single blessing calls for a celebration but about eighteen years ago every celebration ended, and now I do not know what made the king announce for such joyous news, but this is an opportunity for you Martha” Betty grinned.
“opportunity for me?” Martha gave her mother a stern look.
“Yes, someone from the neighbouring village might get to be your future you don’t know” Betty smiled.

“Mother… We are not talking about marriage this morning” Martha huffed, standing up.
“I know, okay fine. But promise me, you will wear any dress I pick for you, it’s in five days, promise me.” Betty smiled.

Martha gave her mother a stern look before replying. “Fine” she huffed before walking away.

“Good morning father.” garam smiled as he stepped into Zackary’s cottage, his faded Dimple visible from his happy smile.
“How are you Garam, you seem as happy as the sun this morning” Zackary beamed.
“Oh, I am certainly happy, did you hear about the Hayest festival father?” Garam asked.
“Hayest festival? That hasn’t been celebrated in years” Zackary smiled.

“Some royal guards just came to announce that this morning in the village and it’s in five days” Garam expounded.
“Wow, that is close, I wondered what happened, for the king to announce such festival” Zackary smiled.
“I heard from my mother, that it is one of the best festival in orrander” Garam added.

“it sure is” Zackary agreed.

“Oh. Now I can’t wait” Garam laughed.

“I’ll also need to get permission from the king and queen to let Rosanne come home for that day, I wouldn’t want her to miss such a day like that in orrander.” Zackary breathed out.
“Oh, now I really can’t wait father” Garam could feel the excitement running through his veins.
