CHAPTER 48
~
After announcing the crown prince’s supper, Rosanne waited patiently for a reply, and as expected she never got one.
Breathing out a sigh, she stepped into the prince’s room and saw him standing by the window.

Carefully placing his food on his bed, Rosanne was about to walk out when he called her by her name, causing her to flinch..
“Y.. Yes. Your Highness” She had breathed out.
“Do not leave.” The crown prince started, turning around to see the frightened face of the maiden he was talking to, the lantern in her hand shaking slightly.

“B..but..
“And take a seat. Do not wear your legs out” The prince interrupted.

Rosanne looked at him and then at the only place she could sit, on his bed.

“I’m afraid I cannot…
“Sit… It is an order!” The crown prince almost yelled, but strangely put himself under control.

Rosanne held her breath as she took a seat on the edge of his bed, holding the lantern that didn’t fail to brighten the wh0le room.

The crown prince remained quiet, still standing by the window, he was awfully quiet and so was Rosanne.

‘What in the world does he want with me? Or is he going to punish me for hitting him’ Rosanne swallowed hærd at her thoughts and turned to the crown prince.
“Your Highness.” she called. “I apologize on behalf of the incident earlier today and…
“Stop.” The crown prince ordered. “You wanted to hit me and I gave you permission to. Now tell me why are you so afraid of me.”

Rosanne was perplexed at the question. There were thousands of reasons she was afraid of him and if he was sharply smart, he’d tell immediately.

“I’m… Not afraid of you…” Rosanne lied.

“You are! I guess you must see me as nothing but a monster.”

“No… No your Highness.” Rosanne spoke up immediately.
“Well I do believe I am cursed and partially a monster, a beast everyone despise, detest and wants to deject and abandon. But I do not want that. Nobody does. I believe that one day I shall die, either I end my life myself or the Beast does. But I also do not want that.” The crown prince explained, his voice sounding angry but at the same time sadness was hidden beneath it.

“You will not die your Highness.” Rosanne shook her head.

“But I am already dead” The crown prince stated slowly, turning around to look at Rosanne who was entirely shocked at his last statement.

“How are you dead… No you’re not Highness.” Rosanne got on her feet shaking her head negatively, she didn’t want him to fill His head with sympathetic things about himself, that might merge into anger.

“Look at me.” His thick voice snarled. “I am aware of what’s in,side of me, I am an invalid and I am cursed, I ended my own servants with my own hands and made some flee, and I almost ended you too. When my servants left this castle, I was alone for what seemed like eternity, with no food touching my mouth and no drop of water on my tongue, but I survived, and why did I survive? Because I am no human, I am as good as dead. And sadly you’re just wasting your time here. ” The crown prince stated, shutting his eyes to prevent him from yelling. He just wanted to have a normal conversation.

Rosanne carefully placed the lantern on the floor.
“Your Highness.” she started. “I believe it was a miracle you survived all those years all by yourself. But I cannot possibly talk to someone dead. You are alive your Highness, you breathe in the air I breathe and touch and feel things like I do. I am not wasting my time here, you are not an invalid. You are real, it is just your taste to things are different than usual. You are not detested, not by me, nor by your mother nor by your father, not by anyone. You’re the only one hating on yourself. If you just look at the world from a different perspective maybe you’ll see that you’re clearly human too. Stop hating on yourself and see what you really are. To hell with the beast mark.”
Rosanne’s words left the crown prince speechless for a few seconds. But spoke up immediately words formed in his head.

“You do not detest me?” He asked.

“I do not. Maybe I wanted to, when you were being aggressive with me, but after learning about the beast curse, I possibly cannot detest you. Maybe you do not care to see it, but you are very nice your Highness, you portray your niceness in a way you doesn’t want it to seem like you are nice. But you are, and without the beast curse, I certainly believe you are more than what you judge yourself.” Rosanne lets a heartwarming smile.

The crown prince said nothing and watch the small smile leave Rosanne’s l-ips.
He took a step forward.
“And I also realized that with you, I hærdly feel his presence.”

Rosanne blinked at the crown prince’s word. “What presence?” she thought, but decided not to ask.

“And when you left the castle, I almost lost it. Because the last thing I recalled was me almost taking off your neck. And he did not fail to visit me every minute of the day to taunt me. But the moment you arrived, I felt him leave.”

Rosanne was a bit confused with what the crown prince was saying. She know not of the beasts presence that visit him and she decided not to ask. He was being self centered and conscious, she did not want to redirect the conversation to a sudden subject.

“I do not understand what you mean your Highness, but I’ll leave that as something positive about me.” Rosanne breathed out, with a small bow.

“Rosanne.” The crown prince called, causing Rosanne to slowly raise her head to look at him.
The crown prince started. “You once asked me to think of something I like… And I gave you nothing but negative thinking of mine. Because I certainly did not have what I like.”
Rosanne nodded. Recalling the day she had asked him, when he had nothing to say but how he detest so many things.

“But now I do know… Rosanne I like you…
