CHAPTER 67

Getting himself under control, the crown prince immediately fled the king’s chamber before he would harm them even more.

“He’s gone.” The Queen sighed.
“That beast” The king spat

“He is not a beast, he’s our son, do not forget that Archibald, and stop making him feel dejected.”
“I was just-
“Keep your choice of words to yourself.” The Queen was angry, as she watched the opened door. Hoping that her hasting will be fine again.
~
“Secrets… There are secrets I need to know before I understand what’s happening?” Garam asked Zackary.
“Yes but we need not waste any more time, we need Rosanne to be awake.” Zackary said getting on his feet.
“Stand up” Zackary ordered and Garam got on his feet.
“You need to help me deliver this” Zackary added before walking away and coming back with a blank paper and ink.
Garam remained quiet as he watched Zackary scribble down multiple words and strange writings at the same time, and after writing, he took his sickle and lifted up Rosanne’s finger.

“What are you doing father.?” Garam was scared.
“The only way he would approach us by dawn is through Rosanne’s blood. She needs to stay alive for us. For me.” Zackary sighed. And with one prick at Rosanne’s fingers, droplets of blood came gushing out of her finger, and Zackary gently pressed it on the surface of the paper before telling Garam to cloth Rosanne’s hand.

After the blood stamp, Zackary took a bit of his blood to stamp besides Rosanne’s before closing the letter.

“It’s ready to be delivered.” Zackary added getting on his feet. “Are you done.?”

“Yes her finger has been clothed father” Garam replied, getting on his feet too.

“Now you do know the village’s willow tree.?” Zackary asked.
“Yes the only willow tree in all of Orrander.” Garam spoke up.
“Yes exactly, at the bottom of the tree, you will find a giant rock, I want you to place the letter at the bottom of the rock and then say these words. ‘Come o ye great one.”

“Come o ye great one.” Garam repeated.
“Yes, and with that, return home.”
“Yes father” Garam nodded.
“Thank you for this.” Zackary smiled. “You’re the only one I can trust.”
“I do not understand any of this but I will do anything for Rosanne.” Garam added sternly.

“That is super sweet of you, now go.” Zackary ordered making Garam nod, before walking away.
~

The crown prince remained in his room, trying to get rid of the presence beside him, he would yell, kick, try to harm the voice in his head, but all to no avail. It was all him at the end, but it was definitely not his voice.
But suddenly as the crown prince shut his eyes, trying to push the voice away, He saw Rosanne, standing still in front of him.
With a smile on her face, she took a step forward, and gently placed her hand on his cheek.
She smiled. “There is no voice here, it’s all in your head. You’re not cursed.”
“I am cursed. You do not understand, I can’t stand this presence, it’s making me do things that I do not want to do. Help me.” The crown prince cried for him.
“Then ignore him, let him do what you want to do instead, it is your body anyways. Fight that beast Hasting, it’s your body, prove to him that you’re under control and you’ll always be under control.” Rosanne smiled, before dropping her hands from his face.
“But I-
“You can do this Hasting. Just think of me.” Rosanne smiled before letting go and finally disappearing into thin air.

Hasting opened his eyes to realize he was all alone. Everything was all in his head, even the Rosanne he just saw. It was all him…

Getting mad at that. The voice called onto the prince again.
“Hasting” it called.
The crown prince ignored it. “Hasting go finish off your parents.” The crown prince heard but chose to ignore.
He was going to under control.
He gently laid on the bed, and shut his eyes, he could still hear the voice but chose not to listen, he could still feel the beast presence but chose not to acknowledge it. After shutting his eyes all the crown prince could see was Rosanne, and he breathed out a sigh.
A sigh that held so much.
.
Zackary was alone and after waiting for almost an hour, Garam returned home, trying to catch his breath.
“I have delivered the letter father” He breathed out.
“Thank you Garam. Thank you son, you’ve done great, are you hungry?” Zackary asked.
“I can never eat in this situation.” Garam shook his head.
“it is nothing to be afraid of dear Garam. She will be fine.” Zackary said assuring.

“How are you so calm father, I’m scared, I have never seen something like this before, partly dead? Will be alive soon? How?” Garam seemed like he was about to go crazy.
“Like I said earlier, this has happened when she was about eight and also when she was three, there is nothing to worry about.” Zackary smiled.
“So this is the third time this is happening?” Garam asked, curiosity lingering around his eyes.

“It is and it will be okay when HE gets here.”
“who is HE?” Garam asked.
“His name will never be spoken, but you will see him when he gets here by dawn.” Zackary added.

“Then why and how is Rosanne dead.?” Garam asked.
“I do not have the strength to tell you all tonight but at least, I’ll tell you a bit, what happened to Rosanne is called ‘timer’. Her life is over, she is dead, but will return back to life when he brings her back, this has happened before because Rosanne lives off a rare flower.”

“What?” Garam yelled.
“Your voice down, now let’s keep this to ourselves and stay the night waiting for dawn, okay.” Zackary added, and Garam nodded, despite how confused he was at that moment.

The next morning, hearing the c*ck crow, Zackary jumped on his feet, only to find Garam in front of him.
“Garam…” He called. “Why are you standing here?”
“father” Garam called. “The Queen and the crown prince are here, ready to take Rosanne back to castle sylph.”

CHAPTER 68
>
The horses hooves stopped as they were strictly ordered by the coachman, and immediately Cornelius stepped out of the carriage to get the door for her royal Highness.

The Queen stepped out of the carriage, after one glance at Hasting who has been quiet since after the night he almost ended his parent.

The Queen placed a knock on the door of Zackary’s cottage, before turning back to Cornelius.
“Go stay with his Highness. So he wouldn’t cause any ruckus” the queen ordered.
“He’s been quite quiet since last night” Cornelius smiled.
“Just do as I say” The Queen sighed with an eye roll.
~
“What are we going to do.? Rosanne isn’t awake and the Queen is here, ready to take her to sylph, what are going to do.?” Garam panicked.
“There’s no need to panic Garam, it’s not anybody fault Rosanne passed out, we can’t let anyone know Rosanne has the beast mark, instead we lie.” Zackary added, before walking towards the door.
“Stay with Rosanne.” he ordered, before getting to the door and opening it.

Seeing the queen, Zackary smiled. “Good morning, your royal Highness.”

“Good morning Zackary, I hope Rosanne’s all ready to leave for sylph.” The Queen smiled.

“Well… That is the case” Zackary sighed. “Rosanne won’t be able to leave for sylph.”

“What? What do you mean?” The Queen wasted no time in giving Zackary one of her thickest glare.
“Rosanne’s sick and won’t be able to leave for sylph.”
“Sick? How sick? But she was perfectly fine yesterday” The Queen shook her head.
“Yes, that was yesterday, and yesternight, the sickness came up” Zackary gulped.
“I want to see her.” The Queen stated sternly.

“But you might get sick too. She can leave for sylph later your Highness, for she is fast asleep, I just don’t want anything to happen to you”.

“Nothing will happen, now let me see your daughter” The Queen stated sternly, leaving Zackary no choice but to open the door for her.
.
The morning wasn’t bright enough for Martha as she had woken up with her mother filling her ears with things she didn’t want to hear.

“Where were you last night? Different lads from different village came around, but you were no where to be found, you could have gotten one smitten and in your arms, but look at you running along the way with who knows who.” Betty sighed.
“Mother, I just woke up.” Martha reminded.
“And I am disappointed, more then disappointed.” Betty sighed.
“Mother I am tired of this, today you make promises about your uncertain nagging about lads and tomorrow you go by your words. If u don’t get married, just leave me be, I’m better off alone.” Martha growled walking towards the door, to get away from her mother.

“Do not walk away from you raven” Betty yelled at her daughter, as she stormed towards the door.
“Raven? At least it’s not a donkey this time around. You just have to call me all sort of animal names don’t you mother.” Martha shook her head opening the door.

“Listen to me here young lass. I am your mother and you will abide to what I say, and you will also get married, do you understand?” Betty yelled.
“No… I choose to not get married.” Martha yelled back.
“Is this because of Garam, have your love for him clouded and thrashed your thoughts what in the world is wrong with you Martha. Why Garam, let Garam go.”
“No mother, this is not about Garam, or about the stupid love I have him, I quit, I quit love itself. Garam should go to hell too.” Martha yelled and stormed out the door bumping into Garam, who seemed like he’s been listening to the wh0le conversation.

“Ugh.” Martha gro-ned…
Looking up, she saw it Garam.
“Don’t tell me you heard everything.” Martha paused.
“I did…” Garam sighed.
“Great” Martha rolled her eyes before walking away angrily.

“Martha wai…
Martha walked out of sight before Garam could call her any further. Garam just found out she’s in love with him, how else would she face him, and what was he doing, standing right outside her door in the first place.

Garam sighed at himself when he realized, Martha probably didn’t want to talk to him, he had left Rosanne’s home after the queen had asked to see Rosanne and had been searching around if he could somehow see the man receiving the letters, he knows half of the faces in Orrander, he could definitely tell who a stranger was if one should step into Orrander and of course if this willow tree letter man, could walk in Orrander any moment from now, Garam would be able to tell what he looked like, he was sure of it.
But walking around the neighborhood, he decided to talk to Martha to see if any conversation they held would sweep his mind off the fear of Rosanne dying for real but had accidently eaves dropped on Martha and her mother’s conversation.
And now he knows Martha is in love with him.
~
Zackary held his breath as the queen walked into his cottage.
“And where is Rosanne?” The Queen asked.
“She’s over here” Zackary replied, as they walked to the stack of hey Rosanne laid, lifeless.

“is she asleep.?” The Queen asked staring at Rosanne’s pale body.
“I’m afraid not.” Zackary swallowed.
“Then what is wrong with her, why is she this way, if she’s not asleep then why is she like this.”

“She passed out” Zackary was helpless as he didn’t know what do say anymore.
“And you left her here. Quick tell Cornelius to fetch a royal physician immediately.” The Queen yelled.
“I strongly reject that your Highness.” Zackary stepped in front of the queen.
“What? Cornelius.” The Queen and Cornelius walked into the room immediately he heard his name.
“Check if the girl breathes or not” The Queen ordered and heard Cornelius little gasp when he laid his eyes on Rosanne’s body.

“she breathes not your Highness and her heart beats no more.” Cornelius replied after doing he was told.
“What is the meaning of this Zackary and why won’t you let me get a royal physician.” The Queen yelled, getting angry.
Zackary was about to speak when the crown prince’s presence interrupted his words.
Everyone immediately went quiet and watched as the prince slowly walked up to Rosanne. He got on his knees to meet with her body, looking at her and not understanding what was wrong with her, he placed his hand on her shoulder to wake her up, if she was asleep. And immediately Rosanne’s eyes fluttered open.
