Oga Emma

Oga emma episode 4 – finale

“OGA EMMA”
Episode 4(The end)
………………………………………………………………….
Immediately Vivian heard the condition she had to meet for her to continue living, she became instantly weak and felt so little. She felt her precious life fading away already. An expiry date had been tagged on her life and she could only do so little to extend the short period she had. “Daddy please, there must be something you can do to help me. Please I don’t want to die. Help your daughter please”, she begged. The pastor looked at her with no pity. He rather replied “you are still here begging when you are supposed to have gone out there and save yourself. You are just wasting time”.
With this response, Vivian knew her salvation would not come from the ‘man of God’. She slowly got up from her kneeling position and left. Coolval stories She decided she was not going to die without putting up a fight. But how was she going to fight? She thought of some possible means to kill Oga Emma. “Should she hire assassins to do the job or should she hire someone to pose as a sympathizer to go and poison him?”, she thought. Then she remembered she didn’t even know where Oga was at that time. That made the reality of her predicament clearer to her. It dawned on her that she had no means of fighting. She wept uncontrollably.
As she wept, she thought of different other ways she could have handled things with bringing in spirituality. She regretted seeking her from the pastor. She thought she could have used legal means or ‘street’ means to avenge her sister’s plights in Oga Emma’s hand. But these thoughts came rather too late. She had crossed the boundary of no return. The only way she could live was killing Oga Emma and that was a mission impossible.
…..
Queen and her in-laws continue their intense prayers aimed at rescuing Oga Emma from the spirits fighting over his soul. Nine (9) days into the prayers, Oga Emma became very sick. The sickness got him badly that within two days, he had become so emaciated and his limbs became tiny. The medical laboratory test results said he had stomach ulcer and malaria, but the physical effects of the sickness suggested something way beyond that. He diminished drastically in body size and his mental health wasn’t improving. Also, crying had become Queen’s daily food as she couldn’t stop blaming herself for her husband’s predicament. She too had also emaciated and looked unkempt.
Whenever there was a spike in Oga Emma’s condition, Queen would run to the priest in panic. He (the priest) would always encourage her to believe in the powers of the Most High God. He’d always refer her to some Bible quotes to buttress the prayers they were saying. “Those who trust in the Lord shall be like Mount Zion which can never be removed from its position”, he’d always conclude. After hearing this, Queen’s faith would be rejuvenated and she’d go home more determined to fight the spiritual battle.
…..
Six days had passed since Vivian was given the ultimatum, and she had not yet killed Oga Emma nor devised a means to do so. She became a shadow of her former self and locked herself indoors most of the time. She hærdly fed and sleep had constantly eluded her eyes. She had started saying frequent prayers, asking God to forgive her wrong steps and grant her another chance to live. She had also been calling Oga Emma’s line, hoping his wife would answer so she’d apologize for her wrong doings. But the number had been permanently off since a few days after Oga Emma’s madness started. She resigned to fate.
That night, she (Vivian) made a decision to go to Oga Emma’s house the next day and meet his wife. She wanted to apologize to her and seek for her forgiveness. After making that decision, she said her prayers and went to bed. Sadly, that became her last night on earth. She died before morning and nobody knew how. The revenge she set out to take had taken her own life first.
Early the next morning, around 6 am, Queen had just slept after staying awake all through the night. She started hearing the voice of her husband calling her from where he was locked up. Slowly she opened her eyes and the voice came again; faintly but clearly. She got up and went to the room. There she found Oga Emma looking sane, confused and very weak. “Why am I tied like a criminal?”, he calmly asked. Queen let out a shout of joy. Her husband had become normal again. She quickly untied him and led him out.
Within the next hour, almost all the members of Oga Emma’s family had gathered in his house. On each of their l-ips were songs of praises to the Almighty God for rescuing their son from the shackles of darkness. There was an enormous jubilation in Oga Emma’s home. He was later admitted in the hospital due to the toll taken on him by the strange sickness that struck him while he was mad.
Sadly, his mental health was restored but his body could not recover from the effects of the strange sickness. He died two weeks after regaining his sanity.
Revenge is a complicated task. No wonder Confucius said that, “Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.”
