PEARLS ON SWINE
Episode 7

They condemned him like a criminal in the presence of all the people.

He stood there and they refused him saying anything.
Not even to defend himself.

But after they all finished talking and disgracing him with different accusations Mayowa looked over at Kunle who was busy smiling and enjoying the show.
Kunle was enjoying the wh0le moment while watching them criticize Mayowa.
Mayowa shakes his head sadly as he stood there defenceless.

Immediately he sensed that they were about calling the security to throw him out he decided to say a word and hoping they will listen to him.

“I worked here for years, I never cared or mind how the payment came. I was diligent in my affairs and delivered as expected. I did everything required of me and never for ones gotten a complain on the way I carried out my duty. Holding a managerial position which gives me access to money never turned my head to be greedy. I account for everything in my care to the general accountant and he has never complained. I took this job like my own… the same way I will run my business was the same way I was running everything left in my care. Despite no promotion or encouragement from the board I remained steadfast. What I get in return for all my good deed was this wh0le Condemnation. Things I have never thought of or did all my years here is the same thing that am being accused off. God bear me witness today that I am innocent of all this crime leveled on my head. I’m not just a Christian, I have the fear of God…I had opportunity to do as I please but instead of me to join the geng of wrong doers I turned it down. It was a big struggle for me as the devil tries to drag me to the mud but through the Mercy of God I overcome it. Kunle is here and can attest to….

Kunle interrupted him with harsh voice as he stood and pointed angrily towards Mayowa.

“Don’t mention my name again Mayowa, I was not there with you when you were hoarding the company’s fund. Stealing is bad and as the saying goes everyday for the thief one is for the owner of the house… your sins had finally catch up with you. This your long boring… good deed speech is irrelevant. Carry the cross of your actions and leave me out of it. We’re two different people. My wh0le efforts and transparent good work is finally paying off. Is good to be good and I have live to witness this day that my wh0le efforts is crowned which is a good lesson for every staff here. laziness, greediness, backstabbing, stealing and the list goes on doesn’t pay rather it will bring you to nothing. work hærd and keep your hands clean from evil deed and one day you will be remembered for good and if no one remembers you then God will. Sorry that you were caught in the act Mayowa but don’t drag my name to your level. As you can see that we are not in the same level again. Let my name cease from your mouth… you brought this to yourself…”

Almost every body was nodding to kunle’s speech as he berate Mayowa.

Some of them that supported Kunle said if Mayowa was truly everything he mentioned then why was he caught for stealing of company’s fund?

Even the MD said the same thing.
He questioned Mayowa that if he was upright in act then why was his record not straight.
If he was truly God fearing why was his invoice sl¡ps missing.
Why was all his account record not tidy. There were a lot of questionable acts in his account.
Most of this things he can’t still give a reasonable answer to. He kept saying he does not know and even trying to implicate Kunle who’s record was clean.

“You said Kunle probably dropped the worn out invoice booklets with many missing receipt because he was the one you saw coming out of your office that morning but in all the findings we found more implicating things even two of the junior staffs had a thing to say about you which only means that you have been doing this for long that is no longer hidden in the eyes of some staffs. Yet you speak of uprightness when you’re far from such. I will make a great show off you, the security will take you out of here and keep you in their custody until the police arrives. I will make sure you remain in police cell without bail untill you provide my money which is in millions… you want to run down the company that I stuffed to build. Mayowa, just like Kunle said… everyday is for the thief one day will be for the house owner…”

Mayowa did not bother saying anything. He felt helpless.
Few of his colleagues believed him but others did not.
They were rather supporting Kunle and waiting to org-nize a party to celebrate his achievement and promotion.

Mayowa was later taken away to the company’s security care.
His heart was filled with anger as he thought even God has forsaken him when he needed him the most.

What was the use of his wh0le service and supplication and yet God abandoned him in time of trouble.
His enemies gloat over and made him to be mocked.
How does Kunle get away with all his crimes and it was leveled on him instead.

Kunle’s even have the guts to berate him and said to everyone’s that he is a good and faithful worker and that was why his efforts was crowned.
On the other hand Mayowa was dubious and not straight forward that is why he was going down.

Mayowa shakes his head pathetically. Maybe it was all a temptation.

God who sees every secret deed will expose the real culprit and he will be vindicated.
Until then he just had to have faith and keep praying for God’s Mercy.

He called his wife to update her on the situation of things and how the police were on the way to pick him up.
He won’t be able to get out until he pays up what they think he stole.

The wife did not break down as Mayowa expected, rather she told him not to be weak in praying she was certain that God will never let those who trust him to be put to shame.

Her words energised Mayowa and even when the police came, he willingly joined them and they zoomed off.
