(💙When two players fall in love💞)
“I know. I know. Thank you Cleo…. Gosh! I’m so happy right now, I could kiss you.”
My expression changed at that point.
“Wait what?” I asked surprised.
“I can really kiss you right now.” He said again.
My jaw dropped and then I watched as he placed his lips on mine…
Despite the fact that everything in me wanted to push Andre away and hit him, I didn’t. Instead I stood there, still in shock as he worked his tongue through my mouth expertly, pulling me even closer to him.
I knew it wasn’t right neither was it meant to be but at that moment with Andre, nothing mattered anymore until….
“Cleo! Cleo!!… Cleo!!!” Andre yelled all of a sudden, bringing me back to reality.
“Wait what? What just happened?” I asked, staring at Andre unable to get over the fact that the kiss wasn’t real.
“Um we just saved me from an arranged marriage to a crazy b*tch and we were just about to celebrate.”
“What were your last words before I zoned out?”
“Uh I’m so happy right now, I could hug you?…”
How could he have said that and I ended up dreaming about him kissing me? Does that mean… Holy sh*t! Am I developing feelings for Andre?
“Cleo, why are you asking? What’s wrong? Did I say something wrong?” He asked staring at me, quizzically.
“Uh no. Not at all. I’m okay.” I replied, chasing all thoughts of feelings for Andre away from my mind.
“Okay?” He replied staring at me with arched eyebrows.
“What? I said I’m okay.”
“Okay. If you say so… So any ideas for how to celebrate my freedom?”
“Uh I’m not really in the celebration mood.”
“Aww come on. Don’t be such a killjoy.”
“I’m not a killjoy. I just don’t really feel like celebrating.”
“Oh come on… Okay, please!”
“Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” He pleaded with puppy eyes.
“Argh! Okay fine.” I groaned in agreement.
“Yay!… What do you think we should do?”
“I don’t know… Watch a movie I guess.”
“No. No. No movies especially not one picked by you. I still have nightmares from the last one.” He said glaring.
I rolled my eyes at him.
“How about…we go out?”
“Go out where?”
“We can visit a club or something.”
“Okay. Club it is then. Maybe just give me a sec to get changed.”
“Okay sure.” He said.
I nodded and headed up the stairs to my room.
After Cleo left, I plopped on a sofa and dialled a number on my phone. It rang for a while before it was answered.
📲 Hello. Jordan Hill speaking.
I rolled my eyes.
📱 Stop joking Jay. I’m calling you for serious business.
📲 Okay. What’s up?
📱 Guess what just happened?
📱 I said guess dingus.
📲 Come on Dre. Just spill it.
📱 Okay okay… You know how Reyna’s dad was planning to force me to marry Reyna or lose him as a client?
📲 Yeah. What happened?
📱 I don’t have to do it anything.
📲 How’d you manage that?
📱 It was all Cleo’s idea.
📲 Cleo as in your fiancee?
📱 No Cleo, my dog… Of course Cleo, my fiancee.
📲 But you don’t even have a dog.
📱 Ugh whatever! Back to my story, Cleo had this excellent plan to trick Reyna into admitting that her dad was trying to bribe me. She recorded it and told Reyna to tell her dad to cancel the deal or risk the recording being uploaded online.
📲 Whoa! Cleo thought of that? That’s so smart. You can’t let her go. You just can’t.
📱 I won’t….. I heard myself say before I could stop and for whatever reason, it didn’t sound fake.
📲 Makes me wish I’d met her first.
📱 Don’t you dare!….. I warned.
📲 Geez! I’m only kidding lover boy.
📱 Oh! Yeah sure. I knew that….. I quickly replied wondering why I’d reacted so strongly to Jordan’s obvious joke.
📲 Well, are you?….. I heard Jordan say interrupting my thoughts.
📲 Geez! Andre, zoning off on me? I asked, are you planning on celebrating?
📱 Yeah yeah. That was why I called you. Cleo and I were planning on going clubbing and I wanted you and the guys to come so you could meet Cleo.
📲 Sure. No problem. I’ll tell them. Where do we meet?
📱 Um let’s meet at…… I trailed off as I came face to face with Cleo who was on her way down the stairs.
“Whoa!” I exclaimed as my eyes swept over her features.
She was wearing a black knee length dress with gold designs on the upper part of the dress and her black hair lay in waves around her shoulders. Needless to say, she looked gorgeous.
“Andre, you’re staring.” Cleo pointed out just as Jordan’s voice blared out into my ear.
📱 Ah! Jordan, what gives?… One moment Cleo.
📲 What gives is that I’ve been calling your name for the past two minutes. How couldn’t you have heard me?
📱 Huh! Sorry about that. I um got distracted for a while there.
📲 Distracted you say? I don’t need to ask by who? The answer’s pretty clear… I could hear the smirk in his voice.
📱 Shut up Jordan….. I growled.
📲 Whatever you say lover boy.
I rolled my eyes.
📱 Just tell the gang that’ll we’ll meet up at Chantell.
📲 Kk. Talk to you later lover boy.
📱 Why you….. I started but he’d already cut the call.
“So…what was that all about?” Cleo asked once I put the phone in my pocket.
“Oh nothing. Just Jordan being Jordan… He’s my friend who you’ll get to meet along with the others.”
“Ooh I get to meet your friends. Isn’t that sweet?”
“You’re being sarcastic aren’t you?”
“Yup.” She replied winking.
I sighed. “Come on.”
“Here we are. You ready?” Andre said, turning off the car.
I rolled my eyes. “You make it sound like we’re actually engaged.”
“Well my friends think we are so we have to act the part.”
“Yeah yeah. Whatever you say.” I replied, unbuckling my seatbelt.
I opened the car and stepped out of the car, the same time Andre did. He locked up the car, came to my side and extended his arm with a “Shall we?”
“Yes we shall.” I answered slipping my arm into his.
He smiled as we began to make our way to the club. Andre was obviously a regular there as we didn’t have to wait in line like most. We skipped the line and were even escorted to a private part of the club where only a handful of people were allowed into.
Andre led us to a particular table where three men and two ladies were seated. One of them sighted and walked over to us, he and Andre doing a bro hug thing when they met.
“Hey Cleo, this is my best friend Jordan Hill. Jordan, meet Cleona Reynolds, the woman of my dreams.”
I knew it was all fake but that part kind of got me.
“Nice to meet you Cleo. May I call you that?”
I smiled. “Of course. Nice to meet you too Jordan.” I replied accepting his handshake.
Afterwards, Andre introduced me to the other people seated at the table.
“Lovely to meet you Cleona. I’m Melissa.” One of the ladies said to me.
“Nice to meet you, Meli-ssa.” I replied, shocked when she hugged me instead of accepting my handshake.
The other lady, Sierra was however not as receptive.
“I don’t think your friend likes me.” I whispered into Andre’s ear when he took his seat beside me.
“No, the other one.”
“Oh Sierra! Pay no attention to her. We had a thing in the past and I guess she was kind of hoping we would get back together or something. Seeing you here definitely destroyed that hope.”
“Oh!” was all I said.
Conversation went out around the table and I seemed to flow with everyone with the exception of Sierra of course. They all seemed especially impressed with the idea I had that saved Andre from marrying Reyna.
All was going good and well until Sierra ruined it.
“So…how long have you been seeing each other?” She asked all of a sudden.
“A few months.” I quickly answered.
“So…have you two slept together yet? Is that why you’re getting engaged?” She asked, smirking.
“Sierra!” Melissa yelled.
“What business of yours is that Sierra? Does it hurt you that much that your fake boobs weren’t enough to make him stay or that you weren’t good enough for him? Tell me, does it?”
“Ooh! Burn!” Travis, one of Andre’s friends muttered.
“Well if you two are so close and all that shit, how’s about we see you kiss?”
That wiped off the smirk I had on my face.
“We don’t have to if we don’t want to.” Andre cut in.
“Oh come on. It’s just one simple kiss or is that too hard for you two to do?”
“I agree with Sierra…not her b*tchy attitude but let’s see you guys kiss.” Jordan interjected and soon everyone was asking us to kiss.
“What have I gotten myself into???” I wondered to myself as Andre met my gaze, his eyes as worried as mine.

(💙When two players fall in love💞)
I found myself nearly hyperventilating as Andre leaned in, cupping my cheeks as he did. I guess this is it. The bet will be null and void once we kiss and that’ll be the end of that.
Then, just as I felt Andre’s lips brush mine, a loud blaring sound suddenly rang out in the room.
“What’s going on?” Melissa asked just as a waiter approached us and informed us to leave as there was a fire.
It took all my strength not to jump up and hug the waiter when he said so. Instead I controlled myself as we were led in an orderly fashion out of the club.
Andre and I bid the guys good night and rushed to the car, driving away before they could ask us to kiss again or do anything of the sort.
Throughout the ride home, the car was silent probably based on the fact that we didn’t know what to say. At least I didn’t.
Once we got back home, his home that is, I wasted no time in rushing up the stairs to my room and plopping facedown on my bed. I rolled such that my back was now on the bed and placed my fingers on my lips which felt rather cold.
Just then, an image of Andre’s face as his lips brushed mine flashed in my head and I felt myself shiver slightly, my hand still on my lips. Makes me wish we’d actually kissed.
Argh! What is going on with me?
I found myself turning around on my bed unable to sleep despite how late it was and how tired I was. My body didn’t seem to mind though. Rather I was thinking about another thing entirely.
“What if Cleo and I had actually kissed?” I asked myself times without number, the experience at Chantell still fresh in my mind.
Despite the fact that our lips had barely touched, barely classifying it as a kiss, I couldn’t think about anything else. I could still feel the feel of her cheeks against my hand, I could still scent her despite how hard I tried to think about anything else and most importantly, I could still feel her lips against mine.
We hadn’t kissed yet something in me wanted desperately to kiss her. If only that stupid bet wasn’t there…if only Cleo wasn’t the hard headed lady she was, maybe then I could have done that… Then again, her being hard headed was one thing I liked about her.
I groaned inwardly again as the sound of the thunder reverberated throughout the room.
“It is really pouring down out there.” I thought to myself, bringing the blanket up to my chest as I stared at the ceiling, waiting for sleep.
Just after thunder struck again, I heard my door slowly open. I felt my body tense as I slowly reached for the lamp and turned it on.
“Cleo!” I muttered breathlessly as her face came in view.
“What – what are you doing here?” I asked, my eyes fixed on her face or specifically her lips..
They looked quite luscious, red and full as though they’d been bitten…several times. That didn’t reduce my desire to kiss them though, not one bit.
“Andre, are you listening?” I heard as I bounced back to reality, Cleo’s voice penetrating my thoughts.
“What was that?… Sorry I zoned out.”
“I said I couldn’t sleep…”
“Why couldn’t you sleep?”
The next lightning/thunder strike answered my question as I saw Cleo shiver in fear even though part of her body was still hidden behind the door.
It was obvious she was scared. That didn’t lessen my shock though. It was rare and shocking to see Cleo looking so vulnerable and scared.
“I guess you can sleep here tonight.” I said.
I saw her nod before nimbly making her way to the bed. She lay beside me and paused for a moment before placing her arms around me and her head on my chest.
“You don’t mind if I hold you like this, do you?” She asked.
“No. Of course not.” I answered hoarsely.
Cleo had no idea what this much contact between us was doing to me and my already scrambled thoughts. It didn’t help matters that I was shirtless.
I only hoped she couldn’t hear my heartbeat which had increased more than I ever thought possible.
“Your heart’s beating fast.” I heard her mutter a while later.
“What did you say?”
“I said…your heart’s…beat..ing…” She mumbled halfway before dozing off, her breath tingling my chest but I didn’t mind.
Something about this felt right and I couldn’t tell why or what it was exactly. It just did.
And so, after placing my arm around her protectively, I calmly waited for sleep to claim me and soon, I was snoring softly, a beautiful lady wrapped around me………..

(💙When two players fall in love💞)
I woke up feeling quite rested and ready to start the day. In fact, I doubt I’d ever felt like this since that night with Raphael….
I shook my head and tried getting out when I suddenly realized something.
I suddenly realized that I wasn’t in my room and the soft but hard ‘pillow’ I’d woken up on was actually Andre.
“What the heck am I doing in Andre’s room? I thought I slept in my room.” I muttered to myself still staring at Andre’s sleeping figure.
Gosh! He looked so hot!
“Geez! Cut it out Cleo.” I said to myself again, wiping my face with my hand.
I opened my eyes to find Andre staring directly at me with unblinking eyes.
“Good morning Cleona.” He said sleepily.
There was a way he said “Cleona” that made the name seem so unique and special.
“God, what is going on with me?” I thought to myself, still staring at him.
“You know it’s rude to stare.”
“Yeah whatever you say… Good morning.” I stuttered, the events of yesterday rushing through my mind.
“Are you doing okay now?”
“Okay? What do you mean?”
“I mean that you looked pretty shaken up yesterday. Are you okay now?”
Normally, I would been offended or concluded he was trying to make fun of me but one look at his face told me otherwise.
“Yeah yeah. I’m okay.” I replied nervously.
“That sounds nice. You do look pale though. You think we should skip work today?” He asked cupping my cheeks, an action that warmed my insides and darkened my cheeks.
“No. Of course not.” I answered hoarsely.
“I mean no. No. We’re probably behind schedule already. We can’t afford to waste anymore time.” I answered, this time with a clearer voice.
“Okay. If you say so. I’ll go get ready then.” He said getting out of bed.
I followed suite and made to leave the door when he stopped me and said “I really enjoyed last night though. You were quite a blessing. I doubt I would have ever slept without you.”
I froze almost immediately, the words bringing back a memory of a similar situation in which those words had been said.
“Cleo, are you okay?” Andre’s voice boomed bringing me out of my reverie.
“Yeah yeah. I’m okay.” I replied shaking my head before closing the door and walking towards my room.
I found myself constantly zoning off throughout the day. I kept having flashes of the past, memories that I thought I’d forgotten kept rushing back cutting my wounds even deeper.
I don’t know why but last night seemed to have given me a bad case of deja vu. I couldn’t stop seeing Raphael and Ian anytime I closed my eyes.
“I guess today is just not my day.” I thought with a sigh as Andre called my attention for umpteenth time that day.
“Cleo, what’s wrong? You’ve been zoning out on me since we got here. Are you doing okay? Do you need to rest or see a doctor?” He asked, concern in his tone.
I smiled. He seemed really concerned about me but I knew it was only because of the bet. I wish it wasn’t though.
“No need to do that Andre. I’m fine.”
“You don’t look like it.”
“Seriously I’m fine. I’m serious Andre.”
“I said I’m fine Andre! You don’t need to pretend that you care when you and I know you’re only doing this so that you can win the bet!” I burst out angrily.
He stared at me without saying a word for a while before turning his attention back to the forms he was signing.
I sighed softly and looked away as well. A few minutes later, he stood abruptly and left the room still without saying a word to me. He appeared a while later and grabbed his jacket from the chair he’d been sitting on.
“The manager at the site wants us to check out something over there.”
“Okay. You can go then. I’ll finish up things over here.”
“No. He wants the both of us to come. He says it’s very important and it requires your opinion as well.”
“Yes really. I’m waiting in the car.” He said and left the room before I could say anything else.
I sighed, grabbed my jacket and made my way out of the office. I exited the building and made my way to Andre’s car.
“You ready?” He asked once I got in.
I nodded and buckled in just as he started the car and zoomed off.
The ride was mostly quiet and I was content staying quiet until Andre missed a turn that led to the building site.
“Uh Andre?” I called.
“We just missed a turn that led to the site. Didn’t you say that was where we were going?”
“It is. I’m taking a shortcut.”
“Okay then…. So about my outburst before in the office?”
“Oh that! You don’t need worry Cleo. I shouldn’t have meddled.”
“No, it’s not that. It’s just…”
“It’s okay Cleo. I get it.”
“No you don’t…”
“I do Cleo. It’s okay. You don’t have to worry your pretty little head.”
“Oh okay.” I muttered before leaning back into my seat.
The drive continued but I saw no sign that we were getting closer to the site.
“Uh Andre, are you sure this is a shortcut? I’m pretty sure we would have been there by now if we just took the other route?”
“Just trust me Cleo.”
“Okay.” I answered with a sigh.
All of a sudden, Andre suddenly stopped the car and pulled up beside a tree.
“Andre?” I called when he got out of the car and opened my door.
“Come on Cleo. Trust me.” He said extending a hand towards me.
I stared at the hand and then at him before slowly placing my hand in his. He helped me out of the car and locked the door before handing me a blindfold.
“Andre? I thought you said this was about the hotel?”
“Okay okay. I might have lied a bit right there.”
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I promise I’ll make it up to you though. Blindfold please.”
“This had better be good.” I muttered glaring at him before slipping on the blindfold.
He grabbed my hand and began leading me to an unknown place. Normally I hated surprises but something made me want to find out what this one was all about.
We kept walking and walking until Andre suddenly stopped, causing me to stop as well. I felt him slowly untie the blindfold before removing it from my eyes.
I blinked several times before my vision cleared and I was finally able to see the sight in front of me.
“Wow!” I exclaimed, my eyes widening in surprise.
There was an elegant picnic lunch in front of me set out on a peach coloured blanket. We were also on some kind of island with a waterfall close back.
“Andre, this is beautiful.” I said looking at him smiling until something suddenly hit me and my smile disappeared.
“What’s wrong?” Andre asked, brushing a few strands of hair away from my face.
I sighed and said “But none of this is real, is it?”
“Real? What do you mean?”
“I mean, you’re only doing all this so you can win the bet right?… You don’t need to answer because I know the truth.” I said with a sniffle.
He didn’t answer so I took it as a yes and turned to leave only for him to draw me back.
“Oh Cleo!” He said softly, caressing my face. “I didn’t do this because of any of that. I did it for you. You looked so worn and stressed out this morning so I decided to do something for you… For today, let’s just do something together and forget about the bet…just for today. Today, let’s just focus on you and I. How about that?”
I smiled. “Yes. I’d like that very much.”
He nodded and kissed my forehead before leading me to the picnic blanket.
This should be interesting……….
