JOYCE

I have been so sick for the past three days, what mother did to me was so unimaginable, I can’t believe that mother will be so heartless to go to that limit.
What she did to me made me to realized that she is not my biological mother because a mother will not treat her child I mean her own blood like that, am waiting for the day she will spill it out to me.

All thanks to Rita who has be my strength of living, without her I don’t know if I can survive it till today, she really took care of me even when mother still persuaded me in doing the house chores without minding my present condition, Rita took over my responsibilities.
Am back to my feet, very strong and hearty.
Am coming back from the stream,I have to filled up the drums, its a punishment that mother gave me because I was not able to cook on time.
“Oh my goodness! Are you blind! Can’t you see?
I shouted at the strange man that bumped into me and bucket of water fell upon him.
“You are the one that is blind, did you forgot your eyes at home?
The man shouted back at me.
“Mind you! You are the cause of this, where did you keep our mind?
I shouted as I raised up my bucket.
“How am I the cause? Are you not the one that bumped me instead of you to apologize for ruining my cloth, you are here shouting like a mad dog”
He shouted.
“Watch your mouth Mr man! You have luck you did not break my bucket you could have buy another one for me right now”
I shouted.
“Because of your carelessness, i have to go back and change my cloth”
He shouted.
“You are the one that is careless! because of your carelessness I have to go back to the stream and fetch another water”
I shouted and walked out.
“What a girl!
He shouted to my hearing.

I turned and shouted back at him, “You what a man!
What type of bad luck is this one, I have to go back to that far stream because of this careless man, he has luck he did not break my bucket he could have pay it right a well.

JAMES

Is this how the village people user to behave?
She strap and poured the bucket of water on me instead of her to apologize she is now blaming me, she just ruined my cloth now I have to go back to the house.
I came back yesterday to have rest and a peace of mind in my home town.
Mother has been my neck to go and marry and give her grandchildren, the disturbance was too much for bear so I decided to live.

She did not know am in the village, I lied to her that I will be going for a business trip.
“Oga wetin come happen? Rain fall that side?
The gateman asked immediately I drove in.
“No! One stupid village girl bumped on me and poured a bucket of water on me”
I replied.
“Oh oooo! Sorry Oga”
“Is that how the village people used to behave?
I asked.
“No Oga! E be like say nah mad person pour the water on you”
He stupidly said.
“Its okay”
I said and went in,side.
I got changed and lost the interest of going out again so I decided to walked around the compound.

I was arranging things in the shop, I got job as a sell girl in a provision store.
Just arranging some items, cleaning them.
“I need water!
Someone said.
I stood up, “You again!
I shouted as the moment I realized it was the man that bumped into me the other day.
“You!
He shouted too.
“Are you following me?
I shouted.
“Following you! Like how? please I need water”
He said.
“There’s no water”
I lied because I don’t want to sell to him.
“What did you mean there’s no water in this big shop?
He asked looking so surprise.
“I said there’s no water, you can check the other shop, thank you”
I shouted.
“Why this attitude? I need water and you are showing me attitude”
He said.
“I said we don’t have water, what is there for you not to understand”
I shouted.
We’re still auguring about selling the water and my Oga entered.
“What is going on here?
He asked.
“I need water and she refused to sell water to me”
He said.
“But Oga we don’t have water and I told him to go and check the next shop”
I said.
“What did you mean we don’t have water? Was it not last week they supplied water?
Oga shouted.
“But Oga…….. dont know what to answer him.
“Sir let me go and get you water”
Oga said and went in,side and brought water.
“What is it, is it block? If this attitude repeat itself again I will not hesitate to sack you”
Oga shouted and gave him the water.
“Sorry for her stupid behavior”
He apologized to him.
“Its okay”
He said, payed and made his way out.
“Listen to me very attentively, if this repeat itself again I will sack you, is that how you treat our coustomers?
He shouted.
“Oga am very sorry, it will not occur again”
I apologized.
“Sorry for your stupidity”
He shouted and went in,side.
What type of devil is he? Somebody said she don’t have water and he still insisted for the water to be sell to him.
Now because of him Oga shouted at me.

JAMES

Why did she displayed that attitude towards me? As if we are keeping malice.
Village girls and they attitude, her Oga shouted and threaten to sack her because of me, I think I need to come back later in the day and apologize to her because it is all fault had it been I did not insisted and walked out her Oga wouldn’t have entered.
I thought as I drove back to the house.

JOYCE

I closed shop and I met that man again laying on his car, I sighed and wanted to pass him but he called me back.
“Excuse me, one moment please”
He said.
“Yes! What is it?
I shouted.
“Calm down! Are we quarreling?
He asked.
“If you don’t have a better thing to say I will start going time is no longer on my side”
I said without shouting this time.
“I just want to apologize to you because of me your Oga threaten to sack you, please am sorry”
He apologized.
“Thank God you learnt your mistakes”
I said and walked out.
“Please wait! You did not tell me your beautiful name, am James by name what’s yours?
He said and rushed to meet me.
“I don’t tell strangers my name”I replied.
“But am no longer a stranger to you”
He said.
“What makes you think so? You are still a stranger to me”
I said.
“Okay! I hope you won’t mind if I drop you at your place”
He said.
“No! Thanks”
I replied and walked out.
“What is he doing here? how did he find out where I live?
I asked as I saw him coming.
“Sister did you know the young man that is coming?
Rita asked.
“Yes! About I don’t know what he is doing here”
I said.
“Let him come then we will find out”
Rita said.
He approached to us.
“What are you doing here and who directed you to this place?
I shouted.
“Nobody!
He said.
“Nobody! Then how did you know here”
Rita asked.
“I followed you the other day”
He said.
“Then what are you doing here?
I threw back the question.
“I noticed that you did not go to shop today so I decided to come and check and know why”
He said.
“I don’t usually go to work on this day so now you have known can you live”
I said.
“Won’t you offer your visitor sit nor kola?
He asked.
“Please you need to start going because of mother sees you here, you will not like what she will do to you nor me and thanks for your concern”
I said.
“Okay as you said, I don’t want to put you into problem so I will be going see you another day”
He said and walked to his car.
We starred at him until he drove out.
“Sister where did you meet this man from?
Rita asked and I told her everything.

LUCY

I was in my room peeping them, “Where an earth did this foolish girl meet this man from?
He very handsome and d–n rich, who is he? I have not seen him before in this village.
He is exactly the type of man I used to want, I need to make chances on him before he will start liking this she goat, I will definitely make him mine, nobody will have him in this village expect me”
I thought and still cant forget his handsome face, I lie down smiling as I remember how cute he is.
