LEAH POV
“Leah are you finally going to stop hiding things from me, for the first
time, your name wasn’t mentioned at the assembly today among the best three
of your class. You better start talking now or you will cease to be my
school daughter, what sort of daughter hides things from her mother, answer
me now before I loose my temper on you”
I’ve never seen my school mother this angry, I guess I can’t hide it for so
long, so I narrated allow that happened trying to be as honest as possible.
“So you mean you were going through all these and you never let me know?
What sought of mother am i, to even think you were carying all these burden
alone”
She was in tears already, and I felt guilty for making her feel that way”
“I didn’t mean to keep it away from you, I didn’t know how you would react
if I told you, but I promise this would be the last time I would keep
anything from you ”
She pulled me closer and embraced me tightly
” don’t ever keep anything away from me again, my duty in this school is
watch over you, and I’m willing to do that till the day I drop my pen.
Now listen to me, and I pray you take what I’m about to tell you seriously.
With what you have told me, I think that Eric guy is still cheating on you,
and in the near future I see him taking advantage of you. I’ve always known
Val felt something for you, I see the way he looks at you, the boy is
decent, he’s one of the few handsome boys that has not dated any of my
mates, so many of them literally threw theirself at him but he managed to
escape them all. I know you love Eric but I advice you let go because he is
a disaster waiting to happen. And as for Val, don’t date him just yet,
still remain the best friends that you are and allow it to blossom from
there.

starts on Monday and after the last paper we are all expected to leave

“You mean that pamela girl made you a deal” “I didn’t expect it either man”
“guy if you ask me, I think you FORGET about anything that girl told you,
even the mere mention of her name scre-ms TROUBLE! ” “you think so? ” ” I
know so, no try am oh, don’t say I didn’t warn you, she would just spoil
everything” “I think you are right, but what do I tell her” “that you are
not interested shikina” “OK no p, so what’s up now, wetin dey, I dey H for
here” “Na unto white man level oh, I get garri and sugar, I know say you
get milk, if you get groundnut too, we blend am together, I can’t wait for
us to vacate oh, na my mama starch and banga soup na em just dey hungry me
for here, ahh, boarding house life na curse sha, see wetin I dey miss”
“you too like food, I wonder how that starch, dey even sweet you” “shuuu,

We sat sat down to soak the garri

We laughed over it as we soaked our garri happily, Nelson was one of the
real friends I have but he still didn’t know my real Identity, one of these
days I guess I’ll have to open up to him.
LEAH POV
We were greeted the next day at the assembly with the news that one of the
SS3 student, Senior Pamela will be expelled, alongside one of our physics
teacher. They were caught having s€× in his office. When they were
confronted, Pamela confessed that the Physics teacher asked her to sleep
with him every day for two weeks, in exchange that he will help her for all
her subjects during WAEC. The day they were caught was actually the last
day of the two weeks.
It was a very shameful experience as they paraded them in the assembly
ground, I started feeling pity for her, what will her parents say.
What is there to sit down and read, the principal thing our parents brought
us here for.
The assembly ended, and we all went back to our various classrooms with a
new topic of gossip.
VALENTINE POV
IF I say I was happy when the news reached us that pamela would be
suspended will I sound like a bad person, at least it had saved me from
facing her with her stupid proposal, she should go back home and meet Eric
at her father’s Cafe, mtcheeeeew, foolish girl that can’t keep herself,
sharing her body like Christmas rice.
LEAH POV
The days ran very fast, before you know it, my school mother’s had finished
her papers, that night it was an emotional one, we cried together, she gave
every of her property and left me with words of wisdom and prayer, Ayo
officially became my school daughter and I was nominated as the new head
girl. I was equally surprised when Val was also nominated as the head boy.
Anita was nominated as the hostel prefect. School can never be more
interesting.
Before I knew it our exams was around the corner, I put in every of my best
to it, and as God may have it I retained my position as the best overall
student for that year.
We vacated afterwards, I couldn’t wait to go home, I really missed my Dad
and Eric too, My friends and I started planning for our long holiday, we
were to go on many outings. I looked forward to the holiday with great
expectation
.
LEAH POV I rolled on my king sized bed, and open my eyes slowly, to a
familiar environment, no morning bells, wow! Home sweet home. It feels so
good to be home, I relaxed some more on my bed, enjoying the comfort it
gave me, before I rolled out to do my morning prayers. I freshened up, and
made for the kitchen, Mr Obi the house keeper was already up and he already
had a kettle on the gas. Father employed him after I left for the boarding
house to assist in cleaning the house and prepare his meals. My dad was not
a fan of eating out. “good morning uncle, home is always sweet and
inviting” “morning small madam, I happy say you enjoy your night oh, the
way you they smile this morning sha” “ahba, uncle, shebi I’ve told you to
stop calling me that small madam, my name is Leah, I might be the same age
as your daughter, that’s if you have any” “alright Miss Leah, shebi you
happy now” “sounds better but crop the miss something, anyway, since I’m
back I’ll be taking over the meals, I’ve learnt some new recipes I need to

thanks for the compliment sha” I set to work immediately, preparing
breakfast with plantain eggs, green pepper, spring onion, vegetables oil
and mashed potatoes. By the time I was through, the breakfast looked wow,
and the aroma was tantalizing. I quickly took out my phone and snapped it,
i would share it later with my friends on Facebook. “the house smells so
heavenly ” Dad walked into the dining fully dressed for work. ” good
morning Dad” “Morning princess ” we did a quick hug as he pecked me on my
chicks. We settled down to have breakfast. ” Wow, this looks amazing, I’m
glad you are home now, I’ve missed you so much ” I’ve missed you too Dad,
how is the office” “work is fine darling, I’m sorry I couldn’t make it for
your speech and price giving day. I got the IV. but I was already, in Lagos
rounding up a few deal, so how did it go? ” ” it went well, only that I
greatly missed your presence, but as usual Mrs Kalu stood in when I started
receiving the prizes. I still came out the overall best, and I was also
sworn in as the new head girl”. “Wow! I really missed a lot honey, I’m so
sorry I wasn’t there to share those moments with you, please forgive Dad, I
promise to make it up to you angel”. I saw the sadness in his eyes, I know
my dad wouldn’t intentionally keep away,he had always been there since
primary school, cheering me when I was called upon to receive my prize, he
hung my various medal in his office and pictures of those precious moments
hanging on the wall. No doubt he was indeed proud of me. “apology accepted,
but please try to make yourself available for the next one, you know it’s
going to be the last, and I would also be giving my Valedictory speech too”
“i must put that into serious consideration, I can’t afford to miss it” “OK
dad” I smiled happily, I silently prayed that nothing else takes his
attention on that day. “Let’s I forget princess, you remember Miss Tiffany
right?. How can I forget the hot and beautiful PA of my dad, I wonder why
dad has not been attracted to her for the over seven years of their working
relationsh¡p, she’s a nice lady, and will pass for a good step mum. I
quickly warned myself, here I was thinking of a girlfriend for my dad, how

there is this scholarsh¡p form she brought to me last Friday and she says
you stand a good chance if you apply, you’ll get to study in any University
of your choice abroad if you are Successful” “Wow! That’s huge, sounds
exciting” “yeah, and I also believe you can make it, so I’ll like you to
drop by at my office today, to fill out the form and also to say hi to her”
” noted Dad, I’ll come by with lunch then” “that’s my angel, I promise to
give you some money so you can go shopping with your friend at least to
make up, how about that” “I’ll accept the offer but doesn’t mean you can
buy me off with that Dad, your presence is worth more than millions of
naira” I stressed the last part to make sure he got the message. “Yes
darling, I agree with you” he stood up after that “I’ve got to run along
princess, thanks for breakfast ” He stood up and bent over to k-ss my fore
face. ” see you later Dad” with that he left and I cleared the table and
did the dishes. Realizing I’ve not called Eric since I got back, I took out
my phone and dailed his number, it rang once and then he picked up. “good
morning beautiful ” wow, that voice had a way of penetrating deep in,side my
heart making me long to be in his arms. ” hey handsome, morning to you too”
“So how is the Queen doing this morning” I smiled on phone, he loves to
tease me. “the Queen is doing absolutely great, she feels so great to be
back in her Kingdom” “hey, babe, are you home” “yes love, I came back
yesterday” “and you couldn’t even inform me, that’s unfair” “I’m so sorry,
I was so exhausted when I got back, I just hit the bed straight. How about
I come over to your place with a delicious meal to make it up to you” “who
I’m I to refuse the kind gesture of her royal majesty? I’ll be awaiting you
in a grand style” by now, I was blushing seriously, he’s so rom-ntic,
reason why I’m head over heels in love with him. “OK darling, see you soon
” ” I’ll be waiting love” With that I cut the call, and called anita, to
invite her for shopping tomorrow, while we were talking a message entered
my phone, after I ended the call I checked the message and it came from
Val,a warm smile spread across my face as I opened the message.
****Mornings,are for the rising of beautiful angels , I hope you night was
as peaceful as mine. I’m missing you already bestie, my hands are itching
to pinch your pointed nose***** I laughed out loud and I replied him ****My
night was splendid prince charming, I guess my bed missed me too, I miss
you more dear, how about you take me out on that lunch you promised over
the weekend ***** I smiled as I dropped the phone and went over to the
kitchen to prepare lunch, for my Dad and the food I promised Eric, if I had
to make it out of the house on time, I had to start it right away.
VALENTINE POV
I woke up rather late with a smile plastered on my face, I
spent the wh0le night with precious moments with Leah, of course it was
only in dream land, I pray all these comes to reality some day. I said a
few words of prayer and decided to give her a text, I was surprised when
her reply came almost immediately, was she expecting it? I smiled as I
thought of the possibility of her feeling the same way I felt for her. That
time would definitely come, I encouraged myself. I freshened up and went
downstairs to meet my mom already setting the table. “good morning mom” as
I pecked her chicks and settled for a chair. “this smells nice” my mom
hærdly cooks, I wonder what the occasion was. “morning son, I decided to
prepare you this honey, you made me really proud yesterday” “thanks for
making it mom, I thought I lost hope of seeing you” “I told you I was gonna
make it, I booked a flight straight from LA the moment I got your text, but
the traffic was something else, but I’m glad I made it anyway, but I
couldn’t meet with that your friend, she’s the one that came out the
overall best right” “yes mom, that’s my Leah” “such a beauty with brains,
rare combination if you ask me” “yes more, and you would love her more if
you get to meet her she’s so sweet” My l-ips twitched into a smile as I
imagined her beautiful face “do I sense someone in love” That question
caught me off guard. “mother, she’s my best friend remember” “but I see
something different in your eyes honey, what you feel for her is more than
friendsh¡p son” “common mom, we shouldn’t be discussing this you know” I
tried to divert the discussion before my emotions betray me, but mother was
smarter” “son I think you should invite her over for lunch by weekend, so

she winked at me mischievously. “Allright mum, I’ll inform her” “that’s
better, you know I and your dad met in secondary school and we started
dating when I was sixteen and him seventeen” Those precious moments she had
with my dad were golden to her and she never hesitated to spare me the full
details when necessary, she still gushed about my dad and I could see
distant pain in her eyes. They must have loved each other so much and I
could tell how she missed him. I’ve never seen my mom being into any
relationsh¡p although she’s still young and I don’t even see it happening
in the near future. After the meal, I quickly headed back to my room to
give Leah the latest update. I texted her ****We will do the lunch as
promised but it’s going to be at my house, I’m not taking a No for an
answer, my mom is on my nerves and if you refuse I’ll have her come over to
get you herself **** I smiled at the text, I imagined the surprise that
will register on her face the moment she’ll realize that the woman she’s
always gushing about and admiring for her entrepreneur skill is my mom,
she’s desire gonna freak out I swear and I’ll just sit back and enjoy the
moment. I changed into my sports outfit and hit the gym, looking fit is good business these days.
