CHAPTER 31.

The crown prince remained silent and after seeing how Rosanne was looking for a away to escape the silence, he finally spoke up.

“I do not wear a shirt, because of the curse I carry”.

Rosanne turned to him in awe.
“A curse?” she repeated.

“Yes a curse!” The crown prince added.

“What curse?” Rosanne blinked.

“The great curse of the seven beast of Orrander” His highness blurted.
“The curse of Orrander?” Rosanne gasped. “It’s real? I thought it was just a myth”

“It’s no myth!” The crown prince scoffed angrily. “It’s the reason why my parents discarded me here, of course I was told I was cursed when I was eleven by a servant who used to work here, she despised me and sometimes spat on me saying I’m not but disaster.”

“What? She spat on his highness, she should be punished, such bully” Rosanne gasped.
“It’s nothing, accepting the fact that I am an invalid changed my wh0le point of view, the servants I used to have never talked to me, they were all old ladies, old to become my mother and it was hærd to talk to any of them with the kind of face they gave me every dying minute” The crown prince expounded. Rosanne was beyond perplexed, she never knew the crown prince could utter such long sentences.

Rosanne smiled, “Your Highness, you do realise you’re having a conversation with me”.

“Is that a problem.?” the crown prince barked.
“No, of course not, you’ve always locked up what you want to say, I’m just glad you sharing all these with me. Because you mostly get angry and say three to two words a day.” Rosanne ranted.
“Unlike you, I am no talkative”.

“I understand” Rosanne said nonchalantly, almost rolling her eyes.

“But your Highness, people do say that the ones who bares the curse are dangerous, how do you even feel or realise you bare a curse?” Rosanne asked, curiosity audible in her voice.

“I hear voi-
“Do not dare tell her about us” the crown prince heard a thundering voice behind him and breathed out an angry sigh that prevented him from saying more.

“Our conversation for today is over!” The crown prince got on his feet and with his brows furrowed in anger, he Walked away.

Rosanne sat still wondering what happened to him, she shrugged before standing up and walking towards the castle door, she slowly opened the heavy doors and exited the ball room, darkness came into sight as Rosanne stepped out of the castle.
The night was frightening, but Rosanne pushed the darkness and coldness aside, and immediately she slipped the letter into the letter box, she dashed into the castle closing the heavy doors behind her…
Almost merging with darkness, came someone wearing a dark cloak that matched the pitch black night, the person slowly reached for the letter Rosanne had just fixed in the letter box before leaving the premises.

Rosanne gave a loud sigh, as she took the ink and the excess papers back to its place before heading back to her room, she was having one nice conversation with the crown prince, but then his attitude kicked in.
Lying on her bed, Rosanne shut her eyes thinking about so many things, when she drifted off to sleep without knowing it.
~

The night was old and cold, and only the sound of the passing wind against the dry grasses could be heard all around castle Sylph.
Tiny snores could be heard coming from Rosanne’s room as she had slept in an uncomfortable position.
Deep asleep, lying on the bed like a princess in her own castle, strange wave of wind gushed into Rosanne’s room through the window and circled her body in full speed, everything around Rosanne started to lavitate due to the strange wind, Rosanne hair was pulled upwards, the hem of her dress moving around drastically.
Rosanne felt nothing as she was still deep in her sleep.
And suddenly from the shadows came a strange looking figure, it was huge and it took over the wh0le room, it’s body was pitch black just like a shadow, but it has seven heads, all heads sharing just a body.
And as the figure walked closer to Rosanne, the wind got stronger.

Rosanne suddenly choked on her own snores and started to cough which made her wake up in one go.
Sitting up, Rosanne coughed and cleared her throat before breathing out a sigh. She looked around her quiet and empty room before falling back on her bed to sleep again.
The wind had stopped and the figure was nowhere to be seen.
.
The next day, immediately the sun came out, Zackary left his cottage for Castle Orrander with a smile on his face, getting to the castle. The king and queen ordered the guards let him in immediately.

“Good morning your majesties” Zackary had bow.

“Such early visit, hope you have something good.” the queen raised her brows.
“I… I have a letter for my daughter.” Zackary stuttered.
“A letter.” The Queen repeated, taking the letter from Zackary, she was about to open the letter when Zackary stopped her.
“Your Highness!” he called. “I didn’t write that, her bethroted wrote it and I didn’t even look at it and I would like it if it was just between them.” Zackary bowed.

“Okay then” The Queen huffed, closing the letter.

Cornelius walked into the room with a paper in his hand, earning a stare from the king who hasn’t said a single word.
Cornelius bowed before announcing. “A letter from Rosanne, from Castle Sylph.”

The Queen almost jumped and the king leaned forward, Zackary’s l-ips curved into a smile.
“perfect timing Zackary” The king smiled.
“Quick read the letter for us now.” the Queen smiled.
~
Rosanne got up from her bed that morning and gave a healthy and happy stretch.
“Another day to face one of the most tiring crown prince,” Rosanne shook her head before, standing up.
“I better prefer one of the most delicious breakfast to get on his goo-
The door being opened with full force slamming to the wall interrupted Rosanne from completing her words.

Frightened, she turned to the door to see who almost broke her door down, and there stood the shirtless crown prince. She was about to speak when she noticed his eyes glistening, and tears crawling down at the end.

“Are you okay?” The crown prince asked breathing heavily.
Confused, Rosanne nodded frantically. “I’m fine… Are you okay your Highness?”.

CHAPTER 32

Rosanne turned to the door to see who almost broke her door down, and there stood the shirtless crown prince. She was about to speak when she noticed his eyes glistening, and tears crawling down at the end.

“Are you okay?” The crown prince asked breathing heavily.

Confused, Rosanne nodded frantically. “I’m fine… Are you okay your Highness?”
Why the tears? She thought. It was the first time seeing the crown prince in tears.
The crown prince shut his eyes and opened them again, his fist clutched.

“You’re fine.” His voice was loud.
“Y.. Yes… But are you? Your Highness?” Rosanne asked, worry in her voice.

“It doesn’t matter if I’m fine or not” The crown prince spat before walking away, leaving Rosanne to wonder what just happened, he had always left her to wonder.
~

Cornelius cleared his throat, and glanced at the queen whose l-ips were stretched into a happy smile, and Zackary curious eyes lingering on both Cornelius and his daughter’s letter in his hand.
“Go on Cornelius, read the letter already” The king spat impatiently.

Cornelius breathed in as he began to read the letter.
“My Dear, father. As you know it is I Rosanne and as always, the crown prince is helping with my letter”.

“This is surprisingly still shocking” the queen shook her head.
“No it’s not, I’m sure the girl wrote it, she’s playing dumb.” The king spat.
“Oh be quiet.” The queen snapped. “We have enough proof she did not write it”.

“Seeing is believing” The king muttered.
“You’re impossible Archibald, continue Cornelius” The queen instructed.

Zackary gazed at the king and queen trying to understand what they were talking about. Ages ago he already clarified that Rosanne cannot read nor write.

Cornelius continued, “I do want you to worry not father, because I eat well and I do sleep well too, the crown prince is almost nice, but he is a nice person if I can tell, he still yells at me and almost tried to kill me sometimes, no please do not write that part.” Cornelius paused and let’s out a snicker.

The Queen burst out in a joyous laugh. “I certainly do not know what to say about this.” she laughed.

‘tried to kill me sometimes’ Zackary’s head twitched at that. Seeing the worried look on Zackary’s face the queen cleared her throat, making him turn to her.
“I’m sure she meant something else.” The queen smiled. “And the fact Hasting wrote about her complaint he shouldn’t have written down. Such duo”.

The king beckoned his hand towards Cornelius and he continued to read the letter. “yes, his highness is certainly nice, he doesn’t speak much, but I am glad he’s helping me to write every single word that has been Lingering all around my head. And as for Garam, please do tell him I miss him so much father, just as he misses me and I’ll get married to him once I leave the castle.”

The Queen’s smile faded hearing that and Zackary’s heart warmed with joy and he lets out a beam.

Cornelius took over the room again. “I do like it here father and did I mention the enormous garden behind the castle, I do like it here but I love home more, but I am fine. Do write me back when you recieve this. Love Rosanne.” Cornelius closed the letter and turned to the king and queen.

“Zackary, as you can see, your daughter Is living her best life, my son is just around her age, and that’s why I’m sure they’re clicking fine. And who is this Garam she spoke of?” The Queen smiled, getting on her feet.

“Garam, Garam Lon, the first and only son to Lord Mercury Lon. A great hunter in Orrander” Zackary bowed.

“Hmm splendid. Well anyways, you can pass his letter to Cornelius and it will be sent to castle Sylph in no time, you can take your daughter letter home and write back if you wish to” The queen smiled.
“Oh Thank you, your Highness” Zackary bowed and exchanged letters with Cornelius.
“You can leave now, everything is in safe hands.” The Queen gave a stretched smile.

“Thank you, your majesties” Zackary said, before walking away and being esc-rted by a royal guard.

“So…” The queen began, walking up to the king. “Arch, you did say seeing is believing right.?”
The king gave the queen a suspicious look as she placed her hand in front of his ear.
“Yes, I did say that”.

“Well of course I do believe Hasting is the one writing the letters for the girl, but, I do will like to see for myself.” The queen smiled.
The king grimaced immediately. “What are you saying Adalind?”

“I’m saying, that after so many years, I’d like a trip to visit my son” The Queen smiled.

“What? No! I refuse to let you go to that monster!” The king scowled.

“Monster?” The queen almost lost it as she scre-med. “My son is not a monster, he was never one at the first place, sending him off to leave on his own, we’re the monsters! And trying to kill him just when he left my stomach, makes you the bigger monster.”

“No, no listen Adalind, I am trying to protect you!” The king shook his head.
“Protect me?” The queen scoffed. “There is a maiden at Sylph who we thought would have been dead on her first day, but she still lives, I am his mother my lord, I am his mother, not someone else, I don’t care if he slices my throat, I deserve it. And I wish to see my son and not you or anybody can stop me.”

“But he’s cursed! He is a catastrophe” The king sighed.
“Oh hell with the seven useless beast, I did not give birth to a son they could just imprint, I’m tired of you refraining me, all these years, telling me I cannot go to castle sylph. I shall see my Hasting and you will not do anything about it” The queen spat, glowering at her husband.
“Fine! But I did warn you.” The king was angry.
“Do not warm me. It’s my son I’m visiting, not a beast” The queen spat.

“Come with me Cornelius, I’ll tell you when I’d like to leave for Sylph let us converse on when my departure will take place” The queen blurted, walking away with Cornelius behind her.
