Episode 8

Kim was flipping through the pages of the Bible with her Sisters and Father right beside her.
Mazi sat down with his head bowed. He tried to think about what happened the previous night. The name of JESUS chased the demons away but why couldn’t his wife be saved when he called on Jesus?.

“Dad..”Kim called. Mazi looked up and realized she’s been talking to him for a while and he had been lost in thought.
“What are you thinking about? Share with me please”She closed her bible and looked intently at him.

“We all called on the name of Jesus yesterday when the demons attacked us and we were saved. But why did I pray to him to keep my wife for me and he refused?”

Kim sighed. She knew that was exactly what he had been thinking.
“You see Dad.. I’d say God had his reasons for taking Mum but I’m sure you’ve heard that a wh0le lot of time and it’d now sound like music to your ears. But take this from me as your daughter, the death of Mum was the most painful pain I’ve felt and would ever feel in my life and am sure it’s same with my sisters”She looked at Christabel and Annabel.
“Dad, I’ll tell you one more time, God has his reasons for taking Mum and I tell you, those reasons are for good.”Kim concluded

“The bible made us to understand that the thought God has for us are thoughts of good and not of evil to give us an expected end”Christabel ch¡pped in

“And that expected end is a good end filled with milk and honey”Annabel said

Mazi looked at his children in tears. See how they were so soaked in the word of God. Totally accepting the will of God but him as their father had hated God for no reason! Yes, he took it as no reason because if his daughters can speak good of God even after the death of their mother, then he had no reasons hating God.
“I’m sorry”He managed to say as tears welled down his eyes.
His daughters gathered around him consoling him.

“I think we should all go back to God in prayers. We need to hold hands together and fight these tribulations coming on us”Kim said firmly.

They all stood up and held hands together calling on God to help.

Mr Nworah, Presh, Kaylan and Mr Joshua the Mortuary attendant filed to the house at about 11:50pm.
Mr Joshua led the way while the others filed behind him.
He burnt the red and white candles in front of the gate and sprinkled salt and anointing oil.. He then opened the small gate and entered in,side saying inaudibly words and sprinkling anointing oil and salt.
Mr Nworah and his daughters each held a burning white candle and was dressed with a white wrapper.

In the middle of the compound, Mr Joshua stopped and sniffed.
“this place is filled with evil spirits, demons and mammon”

“We know.. And that is why you’re here”Nworah said impatiently.

“of course” He proceeded in planting burning candles in front of the main entrance and opened the door. A very bad odour hit them.
“Oga come and switch on your light!”Joshua referred to Mr Nworah.
He frightfully switched on the light and the sight that they beheld was horrible.
The body of Williams was lying on the ground already decaying. But his head was nowhere in sight.
Presh let a loud scre-m
“Williams…”She cried throwing her candle away and not minding the odour from his decaying body, she bent before him crying.

“Aunty that is not why we are here. Let’s go straight to the ritual. Oga, where is the body of your wife?”

They looked around but couldn’t find it. “it was here when we left..”Nworah said
kaylan was speechless hiding behind her father all these while.
“Let’s check around”Joshua said

“The last time I was here with Williams, we heard the voice from the Kitchen”Presh said sniffing in catarrh from crying.

“Kitchen? Then let’s go there”Joshua urged and led the way.
They got into the kitchen and it was dark
“On the light please”

Mr Nworah switched on the light
“Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”

“Blood of Jesus”

“Goddddddd”

Each scre-med except Joshua. Before them was men and women dressed in red with rotten decayed faces feasting on the head of Williams.

“Calm down..we..have to..complete the ritual”Joshua stammered. Truthfully, he had never seen anything like this all his life. He just managed to hold himself there.

“Do something then!”Mr Nworah scre-med as his daughters held him tightly. By this time, the demons had stopped their feast and were looking at them with deadly eyes.

“erm..ok.. We will now pour the..”
Everyone of them ran struggling to be the first to use the door.. The demons had charged towards them and that was why they ran.
Mr Nworah pushed Joshua out of the way to let his daughters pass as he ran as fast as he could, opened d small gate and they ran all the way. From a distance, they could hear the scre-ms of Mr Joshua pleading for mercy. Obviously, the demons had gotten hold of him.

Mercy was lost in the spirit kabashing and lambasting in tongues. She was praying for the Salvation of her husband and against the evil holds of darkness on him. She was so lost in her prayers and wasn’t aware of the physical battle happening around her. She was sweating furiously.
All she knew was someone who tapped her. She opened her eyes and saw her Husband smiling at her. He didn’t look like someone who almost died minutes ago. John too was up from the floor.

“Thank you darling. Thank you for saving me”Taiwo cried.

Mercy didn’t understand but she put his head between her bosom consoling him.
John just sat there watching them.

“What happened?”Mercy finally asked.

Taiwo sniffed “I was dead already.. I saw that evil lady in red dragging me to come with her claiming that I was hers. But then, you kept praying and crying to God for mercy and salvation of my soul. Suddenly a man in white appeared and ordered the Lady to release me immediately and she did. The man asked me to go back and start life afresh and do away with all forms of evil”

Mercy cried in appreciation to God

“God gave me a second chance. I’d have been burning in hell by now.. I’ll confess my sins publicly in Church this Sunday.. I’ll turn a new leaf.. I’ll become responsible..”

Mercy nodded as tears welled down her eyes.

“One more thing.. I’m leaving the Pastorhood”

“But why?”Mercy asked in surprise

“That is not my calling. I’ll leave it in the care of Pastor Godfrey. He’s the one who has the true call of God. But I’ll be an evangelist of God, using my experience to turn people away from the clutches of darkness.”

Mercy hugged him tearfully “Thank you Jesus.. thank you Lord”

“And about Jahshield.. I ate his flesh with that evil woman!”Taiwo finally said

Both Mercy and John jumped up in shock..

At Williams house, his Dad and sister Clara were so worried about him. He hadn’t been home for 2days now and wasn’t in his office or any of his friend’s house. His number wasn’t going either or even his Fiance’s line Presh.

“We have no other option than to report this case to the Police..”Chief Sylvester said to Clara.

“Dad, let’s go to that his Fiancee’s house and check him perhaps he might be there..”

“But we’ve tried her number but it’s not going same with your brother’s”

“Perhaps they both went for last minute shopping. Their wedding is just this Saturday, two days from now”

“You’re right”Chief Sylvester reasoned
“But wait.. I think I have Mr Nworah’s number, let me call him. He probably might know about their whereabouts.”
Chief Sylvester sat down and made the call.

“Hello, Chief Sylvester on the line”

“Oh in-law! I’ve been wanting to call you”Mr Nworah said from the other end of the line.

“I called now so it’s same. Do you know anything about the whereabouts of my son? or you can ask your daughter”

“Ermm.. That is why I wanted to call you.. Can we meet so we can talk about it?”

“Just tell me where he is.. No big deal”Chief said growing impatient

“More reason we should meet..”Nworah insisted.

“Okay..Come to my place, I’m home”Chief ended the call not giving Mr Nworah the chance to speak.

Meanwhile, after they escaped the hunted house, Presh had insisted they go to Kim’s place that early morning and that was were they were when Chief Sylvester called.
