β€œ DARK LORA III… ”

☘️ Chapter 36 ☘️

He flipped each page of the book over and over again. Life has been bored for him without Lora.

It’s been five months her haven’t seen or heard from her and all he wished for was her safety.

Only twice and that was two months ago his mother sent Lora’s letter to him. Since then, no letter, nothing.

Brian walked in with a scroll which contained the reports of the kingdom affairs.

Taking it from him, he read through the reports, dropping it on his desk. He rubbed his eyes, everything was going well in the kingdom. But what about him?

Even recalling his moments with her wasn’t making things better, he wanted to see her. He wants her standing right beside him, promising him that she’d never leave his side.

But still, he knew going to the witche’s castle was the only option to keep her safe likewise everyone else.

At night, when it was time for him to sleep, he would feel the bed empty. Unlike before with Lora sleeping beside him, he felt okay by her presence.

Erica on there other side had felt lonely since Diana left. When Lora was still with them, life seemed a lot comfortable with her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(At The Witche’s Castle…)
“What’s going on?” That’s the question everyone keeps asking.
Evelyn’s plans were going perfectly well. Lora’s innocency hid the other side of her making it difficult for anyone to suspect.
Despite how Lora has earnestly played nice to make Matilda trust her, yet, some part of her never trusts Lora.
The sleeping, the lateness the excuses, leaving the practice room open… Are all strange.
πŸ’• Matilda πŸ’•
It’s been weeks I’ve known Lora, months I’ve been with her and she’s never been like this before. She was open, she never misses classes and sometimes I feel like missing practice, Lora always made me come.
But now, she’s been acting weird. Like she’s hiding something from me, she never show up for practice.
Something is wrong with Lora. I have this feeling that she’s not okay…
β€œ Lora… ”
It was only four days ago we last talked to each other, the way she responded to me, it was unlike before.
I just have this feeling… I never doubt my instinct.
There’s only one way to find out….
As I walked from my practice room back to my room, I overheard voices from a front. Anxious and curious to know who in her right sense would be all alone in such a dark place.
I went closer making sure my movements weren’t heard. I listened.
“Mistress…” I heard the voice. It was so familiar. It was a voice I can never forget even at my dying breath.
Because the one who owns the voice, is the one I love.
” Now that the castle is in chaos, I think my time of getting freed is approaching near.” Said Evelyn.
” But mistress… Why don’t you free yourself now. The more we delay, the chances we give the witch sisters to find out about us. I don’t trust Nyk, she’s too smart and I think that’s why she was ordained as the high priestess. ”
Evelyn got angry by her words. Why would she ever think Nyk is more mighty than she is.
“Don’t you ever compare that fool with me ever… again! I’m I clear?! ” She yelled.
” Forgive me mistress, I didn’t mean to. ” She apologized with her head faced to the ground.
” Good. Now I’ve got something else in mind.”
“What is it?” Lora asked.
I felt something soft moving on my leg, I tried holding myself but this soft skin still won’t get off my leg.
I stamped my leg to the ground, but this soft skin didn’t just go.
“Ahh!” The scre-m escaped my mouth. I immediately covered my mouth with my hands as I mo-ned in pains.
“Someone is outside.” I heard the voice told Lora.
I didn’t wa-ist a second to rush out of there to my room limping in this undying pain of the bite.
Fortunately, I made it to my room breathing heavily. My heart beating against my chest, fear gribing my wh0le body.
I fetched my magical book with some medical herbs. I grounded all the herbs together pouring them into a small pot.
I was feeling heaviness in my eyes, my heart beat was getting weaker and weaker, my breath shortened. I was feeling death knocking at my door.
But I managed to make some spell on the preparation. After I knew the herbs were ready, I gulped them all into my mouth sitting back on my bed.
My mind flashed back to the conversation of Lora with the unknown voice, what has Lora gotten herself into?
Who is that she was talking to?
What has she done to Lora?!
β€œ Lora… ” I wept the name out of my l-ips. β€œ Please… ”
What I’m I gonna do?
No one will believe me when I say Lora isn’t the Lora we know.
From the start no one has ever listened to me… Would there be a single one to listen to me now?
Whatever is going on with Lora is serious and I can’t handle it myself.
“Ahh!” I gro-ned at the hot pain.
F*ck! it stings!
At that, I have to tell priestess Nyk. Even if she doesn’t listen to me, even if they don’t take my words, I’m doing it for Lora.
I’m doing it for her..
Because whoever it was she was talking to… She’s really not good. And whatever plan they both are up to… It’s big and dangerous.
β€œ SAVED… ”
☘️ Chapter 37&38 ☘️
πŸ’• Matilda πŸ’•
I picked the courage to talk to priestess Nyk. Even if they don’t listen to me, I wanna live a clear mind.
I knocked at her door.
“Come in.” She permitted immediately without asking who it was. I guess she’s kinda having a visitor.
I walked, shutting the door gently behind me. Indirectly, or I’d say quietly taking in as much air as my nostrils can occupy.
” Matilda.” She called my name in a surprise.
No one expects me for a chat so, it’s definitely not her fault seeing me.
“Please have a seat.” She offered me and I sat while she dropped her ink, shifting the brown scroll beside. “Okay. Is there any way I can help you?”
“I wanna tell you something, it’s been bothering me for some days now. ” I started.
” Okay.” She nodded. I’m listening. ”
” It’s concerning Lora. ” I said and her eyes wΒ‘dened in surprise.
“What does that mean? What has happened to her?!” She asked in a yell. My heart gave a heavy pound.
Oh! No. I hope this is gonna end well.
“It’s not what you think. I mean… She’s not herself anymore, she’s not the Lora we think she is. ” I said and she only stared at me like,, β€˜What the heck does that even mean?’
” I know this might sound crazy but you’ve got to listen to me even if it’s this once, please try to listen. ” I licked my l-ips, then biting my lower l-ips waiting for a sign that she was of course listening.
But now, I don’t care. I don’t care if she listens or not. I don’t care how crazy she thinks of me, I think it’s really time I start looking into the fact that I’m only sitting right at her front was all for Lora.
After all, I heard Lora is her daughter-in-law. Who wants something bad for a daughter-in-law?
“I’ve known Lora for some months, we’ve been friends and I’ve learnt a lot about her so believe me when I say that she isn’t the Lora we know. She misses class, she oversleeps, she’s becoming so aggressive. We always have this practice at night, we actually started it a night after she came her. ”
” I’m aware of that. She once told me that you two meet at your room. ”
I sighed. Finally, someone’s following.
” Yes. But now, she never show up unlike her, she always gets there before me and she never forget to close the door. And last night… ” I paused.
Last night, I got to know she’s evil. I got to find out she isn’t the Lora I meant months ago.
I was thinking about it that I didn’t notice I had been crying at her front. I wiped off the tears as soon as I realized myself.
“Spit it out.” She commanded.
It’s not easy, you know? Especially when it has to do with your closest friend.
” Last night, I was returning from our practice room when I overheard voices. I was… I wanted to know who it was and… and… and when I listened, it was Lora talking with someone else. ”
” Who is this someone? ” She asked in a heaste.
” I don’t know, but I’ve never heard the voice in this castle. It… It sounded different, totally different. ”
She rested back on her chair, pacing her eyes around the room like she’s gotten a clue on who it is.
” Do you know who the voice is?” I stammered.
She nodded slowly. ” It’s a long story. Her name is Evelyn, she was one of the witch sisters who betrayed our trust after we discovered that she had collided with the hunters to win the war. I…I uhmm…I had to lock her up beneath the castle but I never knew she’d return. ” She explained.
” So,what are we gonna do? We have to save Lora! I overheard them talk about freeing herself to take over the throne. I have this feeling that she will kill Lora as soon as she gets what she wants. ”
” Coming for the throne is what she’d wanted from the start. But in this case, I have to discuss this with my sisters. ” She stood up to leave but suddenly stopped turning to me.
” I know I’ve never been nice to you since you walked into this castle. But I’ve seen how much Lora believes in you and how desperate you want her back. This is something no one has ever done, not even the ones I expected.. ” she looked down as she spoke that. ” Thank you, Matilda.” She rose her head up at me again.” In the future, I will repay you back.”
She left me alone in her chamber. Did she just?
Did I heard her right?
She finally believes me?
She finally trust me?
What no one has done, she…
I quickly dried up the tears from my face, sniffing hΓ¦rd. I’m not crying. I should be bothered on what next is about to happen.
Talking about what the so-called Evelyn said, β€˜ I think it’s time for my rise, ’ what exactly does that mean?
Time for her rise as in… Now?!
I hurriedly left the room to mine but ended up meeting Lora on the way. Right now, I’m just not in the mood for this other side of her. I want my Lora back.
“Hi,” we greeted.
She apologized for not always showing up for our practice and how long we haven’t been able to talk to each other for some days, promising to make it up to me in anyway.
If only I can trust her…
Trust? Did she just said trust?
If there’s anyone to trust now, it’s myself. Yes, I have to start trusting myself again. That is what Lora always tells me… Trust no one but yourself.
“Mat?!” She called me in her usual way. “What happened to your leg?”
I wasn’t surprised. I had this feeling she called me for this,now she knows, she’s got something bad for me. But I’ll show her that something worster was coming for her.
I’m talking about the witch sisters. I know they’re up to something bigger.
“Uhh.. it’s totally nothing, just a little scar. But I’ll be fine.” I lied. She kept staring at my feet.
” You got bitten?” She asked with a slight frown.
” No.” I lied again. ” It’s a scar you’ve never noticed.”
“Okay.” She offered an uncomfortable smile. ” If you say so, see you around.” She left.
She must have noticed I was the one who was eavesdropping last night.
πŸ’• Unknown πŸ’•
Nyk paced around while her sisters sat watching her as she made a hundred paces.
“Sister, you need to calm down. We saw as you lock her beneath the castle there’s no way it can be true.” Eva assured her.
She made no reaction nor comment.
“Yes, Eva’s right.” Gwen added. “We are not sure if that Matilda of a girl is only trying to win your trust. From the start I have never trusted that girl. You must be careful.”
Nyk stopped, thinking over what her two sisters had just said.
“No you’re wrong. Maybe then, she was that kind of girl, but I’m beginning to see her as someone else. She has been the only one there for Lora, she assisted her to be who she is. It has been a mistake doubting the poor girl who ends up being the one who cares a lot about my daughter! It’s time you all start seeing her the same. As soon as I have my daughter back, I’ll make sure I get that daughter of a bitch and send her to where she belongs. ”
And for a while, silence prevailed.
” Once all this is over, I’ll see to it that I repay Matilda for what she’s done for Lora. ” She breathed. ” One more thing, I know Evelyn too well, she will be coming to the tabarnacle tonight. We have to be there before she does.”
(That Night)
As Matilda sat on her bed, she kept staring outside. The wind blew perfectly well into her skin sending her cold shivers.
She wanted to forget whatever that was going to happen tonight but she couldn’t.
She knows what happens when freeing an evil spirit from an innocent body. It really hurts. Lora was gonna undergo that torture.
in,side her it’s as if she’s already feeling the pains of Lora.
If that’s so, then they both share a greater connection to each other. She closed her eyes and a tear dropped down to her folded hands.
It’s gonna hurt… A lot!
Lora went up to the tabarnacle of the witche’s. That was a sacred room where true witches pray. The same room was where Evelyn led Lora’s body to.
A room with great rules.
She entered leaving the door halfway opened. She walked around the sacred room, on getting to the tabarnacle, Nyk and the rest of her sisters bumped in.
“Evelyn!” Nyk yelled out her name.
She stopped, turning to them. “Wow! What do we have here?! It’s been a long time sisters. Hope you all missed me?”
They made no response. She chuckled.
” I’ll take that as a yes. Only that you don’t want to let me know how much you’ve missed me. ”
” Let the girl go. ” Nyk sneered. ” Whatever that had happened, it’s between us alone. She’s innocent. ”
” Innocent? ” She laughed devilishly. ” How innocent is she? She’s going to stop the war, how does that show her innocency? The hunters has to win this war. After I’m done, when I finally get freed, I’ll have her dead. But don’t worry, I’ll let her die slowly right before you. ”
” You’re not gonna do anything to her. ”
” Really? ” She asked in a mockery form. ” Well, I don’t think so either. ” She turned to her previous business. ” Soon, everyone including you all sisters will bow down at me. Soon, this wh0le castle will belong to me! ” She laughed evilly, her echo drumming against the walls.
She lightened up the tabarnacle alter ready for a self ordination. But was it actually going to happen?
Nyk and the rest of the witch did nothing but watch as she got everything ready. Now, it was time for the ordination.
“It was said that the tabarnacle recognizes every single one in this castle. I’m sure it recognizes Lora’s body too. ”
Nyk stood where she was shivering at what will happen next. She knows the tabarnacle too well than anyone else, it’s no respecta of anyone.
It has a consequence for anyone who disturbs it. And she only pray for one thing, for Lora to survive it’s consequence for it was the only way to save her.
Evelyn made some incantations. Suddenly, the wh0le place got stormy.
“Evelyn!” Called Nyk. ” You have to stop! There’s another way to end this!”
“No! This is the only way!” She laughed. “I can feel it! I can feel it! ”
” Evelyn! Please… just stop this! ”
” It’s too … late! ”
“No, it’s not!”
Stronger and stronger, the wind blew but the witches were able to withstand the forces. A spark was made, that isn’t good.
“Evelyn! You have to stop now or it gets too late!”
“No! It’s too late already! ”
The tabarnacle began shaking, opposing the powers of Evelyn. Confused, she stared around.
“What’s going on?” She asked Nyk.
“I’m sorry. I warned you, the tabarnacle doesn’t accept anyone except the great witches.”
” No. No! Make it stop! Make it stop! ”
” It’s too late. ” Nyk said softly. “You should have listened. ”
“No! No! No!!!” Lora’s voice echoed with Evelyn.
Nyk covered her mouth tightly. Tears rolling out like waterfall as she couldn’t do anything but to stare as her daughter battles with the punishment of the tabarnacle.
What… Can… She… Do…?
“Lora…!” She cried.
“Mother! Help me!” She scre-med. ” Ahhh!!!”
“Lora…!” Morg-na rushed to hold her from making any step.
“Nyk. Let the tabarnacle have it’s way. It’s for her own good.”
“That’s my daughter, Morg-na. My only daughter! ” She cried.
” We know. Do you prefer her evil and the fate of the demons will end up being shattered? ”
Nyk shook sorrowfully.
” Then let her face it. ” She buried her face on Morg-na’s shoulder weeping like a child.
She made a promise to Lucas that she’ll keep her safe. She doesn’t know what to tell him if something bad happens to her.
For he will never forgive her.
( The Next Day )
Matilda ran in, breathing heavily with her mouth opened. Nyk looked up at her, standing up, she walked close to her.
“She’s back.” She said with a wide smile.
Matilda chuckled, smiling and a drop of tear rolled out of her eyes. “Really?”
Nyk nodded a yes.
She nodded back, looking at the sleeping Lora on the bed.
” All thanks to you Matilda, we wouldn’t have done this without your help. Now I understand why Lora never stop loving you.” She appreciated.
But Matilda shooked her head. ” I didn’t. I never. After all, I’m just the same girl who was neglected three years ago. There’s no need thanking me. ”
Nyk hugged her. ” There is, if not for anyone, it’s for Lora. I believe you, Matilda and I trust you. ” She broke the hug wiping the tears out of Matilda’s eyes. ” I’ll leave you two alone.”
She exited the room.
Lora mo-ned softly as she woke up. Rubbing her eyes she tried to get a full glance of her environment.
Her gaze met with Lora. ” Hey.”
“Hey.” She said with a little guilt in it. ” I’m sorry. ”
” For what? ” She asked faking a chuckle.
” For everything. It’s all my fault you suffered all because of me. I promised I’ll never let you fell lonely like everyone did to you, I failed those promises. Please, forgive me. ”
Matilda who has been fighting back the tears ended up letting it fall out. For the first time she was feeling loved again.
If only they had seen it in her earlier, they’d know she deserves to be loved like anyone else. But only Lora seemed to have seen that faster.
“It’s okay,” Matilda managed to say. ” What matters is that you’re back, likewise the fate of the Demons.”
Lora gave a nod.
” We can forget about practice today if you want. ”
” That’s never happening.. ” They both ended it with laughter.
Finally our Lora is back.
