Chapter 1:
~ Ashley ~
” I can’t believe you are finally leaving us. ” Mom said, sounding sad.
” Mom, it’s not like I’m leaving forever. It’s just for a matter of time. I will really miss you guys. ” I said pecking her cheeks then Dad’s.
” Do take good care of yourself for me, okay? ”
” I will dad, you too and mom. ” I hugged mom for the last time before entering the passenger seat while Dad went to the driver side.
We zoomed out of the compound. We were leaving for the airport to Chicago, my dream home.
Why don’t we start from the scratch…?
My name is Ashley Agent, a graduate of the Police Force Academy, San Diego.
Just two days after I had graduated, I was called to the police department of Naperville, Chicago.
And that’s just where I am heading to now.
Chicago has been my desire, my dream and it’s really exciting to say I’m not just going there for a visit, but to make it my new home.
My family are the well known hunters in San Diego since the 18th century.
And it has been a passed down blood line that we chase after wolf’s and it’s our duty to hunt them down.
I’ve heard a lot about werewolves and I’ve read about them too.,
They aren’t the easy going type and that’s why I’m going for this job.
Chicago is a big city, so there’s much population of werewolves there. I’ve heard about that too.
I know what you’re thinking… Why joining the corps, right?
It’s alright to say they aren’t just corps, but undercover agents ( wolf hunters in disguise ).
We got to the airport, dad helped me with my luggages. ” Your mother and I thought of visiting you next month, what do you think? ”
” I think that would be great. I’ll be waiting tho, but tell mom not to over think about me, okay? ”
” She won’t listen to me even if I told her, but I will see what I can do about it. ”
I hugged him tight, ” I love you dad. ”
” I love you too, baby. ” He k-ssed my forehead. ” Have a safe flight. ”
” Thank you. ” We were waving at each other until I got in,side the air plane.
I stared around to see different girls of my age, or maybe I’m just guessing that.
They were all sitting parallel to each other. ” Hi, ” I said slightly waving at them.
I made myself comfortable on one of the empty seats. We all looked like savages about to be sold.
The plane took off and for what took like hours, we were all buried in an awkward silence.
I never thought the hunting team accommodated much, I always believed it to be a small org-nization.
” So, ” I began, ” why don’t we formally introduce ourselves. My name is Ashley Agent. I’m 21, from USA. ”
” My name is Vivian Mayor. I’m 22, from England. ”
” Mariam Parker, I’m 22, from USA. ”
” My name is Allison West. I’m 25, from USA. ”
” Jessica Lin and this is my cousin, Lina Wang. I’m 23 and she’s 21, we are from China. ”
” It’s really nice to meet you all. ” I said with a welcoming smile. ” Guess we’re all going for the same purpose, right? ” They all nodded in unison. ” No one loves the wolves. ”

We finally got to Chicago. Stepping out of the airplane, my eyes couldn’t stop from beholding the great beauty of the american city.
Even from the airport, the buildings, skyscrapers looked naturally beautiful.
I knew from the start that I won’t regret coming here. And it’s all like, “ Welcome to your new home, Ashley. ”
We entered a van which had the FBI inscription written boldly on it and we took our stuffs with us as we hopped into the van.
We had more discussions, few concerning our backgrounds and most which had to do with becoming a hunter.
The trip was a little bit faster, and now it’s us in the department. I was loving the sight of everything.
” Welcome girls, it’s an honour to have you all into the org-nization. Some of our students will be arriving tomorrow morning, but for now I think you all are stressed out from the long trip. Lydia, my colleague, ” she pointed at the lady at her left side, ” she will direct you to your respective rooms, all you have to do is to take a shower, eat and have some rest. As soon as the rest of the students arrives, we’ll start with your training. Good night, girls. ” She left.
” Good night, Mrs Johnson. ”
” Follow me. ” The lady said and we all followed her.
We were showed to our respective rooms, Lina and I are roommates and thankfully they picked the both of us together.
What do you expect, we are the only ones with the same age.
I threw myself on my bed, sighing as I got driven by sleep.

Chapter 2:
The previous Alpha is dead two days ago, a new one has to be replaced. Who will be the next Alpha? Of course that’s Poldark most strongest wolf…
Loreen… Loreen Hale.
Unlike most choose alpha’s who most times kill an alpha before they can become an alpha but that wasn’t for Loreen.
He was totally different, and when I say ‘ totally different, ‘ I meant he doesn’t have to kill an alpha to become one.
He was prone to anger and had this aggressive nature which made him always react to things around him.
Which of course, has to do with the red eyes he posses.
But the question is … will he accept when he’s got a business to handle? He’s just the kind who prefers his business over to anything.
What kind of alpha will he make when nothing else mattered to him?
Nevertheless, he has to.. cos that’s his rightful position.
Amongst every other wolf-shifter packs, padlock has always been the number one.
It’s very difficult to wage a war against them yet, come out successfully.
And now they needed a new leader, a leader just like the others.

I was hating the way I’m sitting my ass here over the same discussion we’ve been having since morning.
Why am I even listening to this? I should probably be at my office and not here.
I’m the next Alpha of my pack, I know but they’re making it look like an election.
So, I kept listening to them as they argued and talked about this case like it was something worth dying for.
It’s all like a movie to me as I stared at them one by one, and they seem not to have noticed my look.
Until he spoke with finality, ” We will find no one else, he must be the next Alpha. ” Alex, my uncle announced.
I smirked, ” Loreen? ” He called, ” Why are you smiling? ”
” Nothing, it’s really nothing. ”
” So, what do you say about it? ” He asked.
” Well, I’ve heard all you have said and… ” I paused, then continued. ” I accept to be the next alpha. ”

The next set of candidates arrived and after a period of settlement, the training finally begun.
I somehow was expecting much of difficult training where you have to train like soldiers and become as slim as a broom stick.
But it was more of advanced practices compared to that my parents had taught me.
We learnt more about the werewolves, their histories and about their capabilities.
Things they can do and can not, what they love and what they hated the most.
They are the fastest creatures I’ve ever heard, sensitive to things around their environment and aggressive at killing their preys.
We were also told about their hideouts, one of which is known much to my family … The Poldark pack.
” You said your family has been hunters for centuries right? ” Lina asked and I nodded my head, ” What are they like? ” She opened the book in her hand, flipping to a page which she pointed at me. ” Like this? ”
I was staring at an image of a half wolf and a half human rowling under a full moon.
” Yes, ”
” I heard that not all are actually half human too. So, what are we after, hybrids or just the single breeded wolves? ”
” Both. ” I said, ” Although they share different history, but they are all still the same. In my family, we hunt down any kind. We heard about the much population of wolves in Chicago and that’s another reason why I came here. ”
” Some are rom-ntic too. ” Jessica ch¡pped in as soon as she entered the room, sitting beside Lina. ” I’ve read books about them. Good ones always finds a mate and so does the bad ones, sometimes though. ”
” Jessica you are not serious. ” Lina said, staring surprised at her. ” How can you say this, ” she said, pointing at the picture, ” is rom-ntic? ”
” That’s just a picture of one of them, Lina. Who knows if that’s the bad ones? ” She said with a shrug.
” I can’t believe you. Don’t tell me you came here all because you want to meet one of those super-cutie-hot alpha’s because you’ve read so much about them ?” I chuckled.
” Of course not. ” She frowned. ” I’m only saying what I read. ”
I couldn’t stop from laughing, this two are really funny. Since the day, I haven’t stopped laughing at their funny arguements and their just the kind to hang out with.
And we were much closer to each other than the others. Not that we don’t talk to the rest of the candidates, but I just prefer them to anyone else.
” Where do you get such book, I need to read one of them. ” Lina said, adjusting herself that she was now facing Jessica completely.
” I always bought them back then in college. And most times, I borrow from friends or I just read them directly from the internet. ”
” Can you remember their names? I mean the interesting ones. ”
” No, I read a lot so I can’t remember which is more interesting. Don’t tell me you’re becoming so anxious about them all of a sudden? ”
” Why would I ever be? Trust me sis, I hate reading novels. So, ” she said, adjusting herself back to me. ” where were we? ”
” My dad always taught me that the easiest way to kill a wolf is by passing a dagger or a silver bullet right through its chest. ”
” Guess it’s allergic to silver, right? ” She asked.
” Yes, and sometimes, they seem to have a weakness too. ” Jesse added.
” Weakness, like what? ” I asked.
She shrugged, ” A mate. Like I said, the good ones always ends up with a happy ending. So, their enemies tends to get them through their weakness, because that seems to be the easiest way. ”
” But how can we find their weakness, we can’t go around asking, are we? ” Lina asked.
” Why would you think of asking around? ” She asked.
” Because you said that’s the easiest way to find them? ”
” You’ll only end up looking like an escaped psycho, trust me. I learnt their mates most times hang around with them. ”
” Look, Jesse, those are just stories. ” Lina finalized. ” And they probably don’t make any sense at all. ”
” Which are most times real. ” She concluded.
