Chapter 2:

The previous Alpha is dead two days ago, a new one has to be replaced. Who will be the next Alpha? Of course that’s Poldark most strongest wolf…

Unlike most choose alpha’s who most times kill an alpha before they can become an alpha but that wasn’t for Loreen.

He was totally different, and when I say ‘ totally different, ‘ I meant he doesn’t have to kill an alpha to become one.

He was prone to anger and had this aggressive nature which made him always react to things around him.

Which of course, has to do with the red eyes he posses.

But the question is … will he accept when he’s got a business to handle? He’s just the kind who prefers his business over to anything.

What kind of alpha will he make when nothing else mattered to him?

Nevertheless, he has to.. cos that’s his rightful position.

Amongst every other wolf-shifter packs, padlock has always been the number one.

It’s very difficult to wage a war against them yet, come out successfully.

I was hating the way I’m sitting my ass here over the same discussion we’ve been having since morning.

Why am I even listening to this? I should probably be at my office and not here.

I’m the next Alpha of my pack, I know but they’re making it look like an election.

So, I kept listening to them as they argued and talked about this case like it was something worth dying for.

It’s all like a movie to me as I stared at them one by one, and they seem not to have noticed my look.

Until he spoke with finality, ” We will find no one else, he must be the next Alpha. ” Alex, my uncle announced.

I smirked, ” Loreen? ” He called, ” Why are you smiling? ”

” Nothing, it’s really nothing. ”

The next set of candidates arrived and after a period of settlement, the training finally begun.

I somehow was expecting much of difficult training where you have to train like soldiers and become as slim as a broom stick.

But it was more of advanced practices compared to that my parents had taught me.

We learnt more about the werewolves, their histories and about their capabilities.

Things they can do and can not, what they love and what they hated the most.

They are the fastest creatures I’ve ever heard, sensitive to things around their environment and aggressive at killing their preys.

We were also told about their hideouts, one of which is known much to my family … The Poldark pack.

” You said your family has been hunters for centuries right? ” Lina asked and I nodded my head, ” What are they like? ” She opened the book in her hand, flipping to a page which she pointed at me. ” Like this? ”

I was staring at an image of a half wolf and a half human rowling under a full moon.

” Yes, ”

” I heard that not all are actually half human too. So, what are we after, hybrids or just the single breeded wolves? ”

” Both. ” I said, ” Although they share different history, but they are all still the same. In my family, we hunt down any kind. We heard about the much population of wolves in Chicago and that’s another reason why I came here. ”

” Some are rom-ntic too. ” Jessica ch¡pped in as soon as she entered the room, sitting beside Lina. ” I’ve read books about them. Good ones always finds a mate and so does the bad ones, sometimes though. ”

” Jessica you are not serious. ” Lina said, staring surprised at her. ” How can you say this, ” she said, pointing at the picture, ” is rom-ntic? ”

” That’s just a picture of one of them, Lina. Who knows if that’s the bad ones? ” She said with a shrug.

” I can’t believe you. Don’t tell me you came here all because you want to meet one of those super-cutie-hot alpha’s because you’ve read so much about them ?” I chuckled.

” Of course not. ” She frowned. ” I’m only saying what I read. ”

I couldn’t stop from laughing, this two are really funny. Since the day, I haven’t stopped laughing at their funny arguements and their just the kind to hang out with.

And we were much closer to each other than the others. Not that we don’t talk to the rest of the candidates, but I just prefer them to anyone else.

” Where do you get such book, I need to read one of them. ” Lina said, adjusting herself that she was now facing Jessica completely.

” I always bought them back then in college. And most times, I borrow from friends or I just read them directly from the internet. ”

” Can you remember their names? I mean the interesting ones. ”

” No, I read a lot so I can’t remember which is more interesting. Don’t tell me you’re becoming so anxious about them all of a sudden? ”

” Why would I ever be? Trust me sis, I hate reading novels. So, ” she said, adjusting herself back to me. ” where were we? ”

” My dad always taught me that the easiest way to kill a wolf is by passing a dagger or a silver bullet right through its chest. ”

” Guess it’s allergic to silver, right? ” She asked.

” Yes, and sometimes, they seem to have a weakness too. ” Jesse added.

” Weakness, like what? ” I asked.

She shrugged, ” A mate. Like I said, the good ones always ends up with a happy ending. So, their enemies tends to get them through their weakness, because that seems to be the easiest way. ”

” But how can we find their weakness, we can’t go around asking, are we? ” Lina asked.

” Why would you think of asking around? ” She asked.

” Because you said that’s the easiest way to find them? ”

” You’ll only end up looking like an escaped psycho, trust me. I learnt their mates most times hang around with them. ”

” Look, Jesse, those are just stories. ” Lina finalized. ” And they probably don’t make any sense at all. ”

” Which are most times real. ” She concluded.

Chapter 3:

I went to the gym department, and after having a brief ecxcerise, Lydia came to call me.

” Miss Agent, ” she called, ” Johnson request to see you.”

” Is there a problem? ” I asked.

” No, not at all. ” She said, waving a smile at me.

I hope there really isn’t a problem.

We both entered Mrs Johnson’s office, she was with a male on a blue tuxedo.

I couldn’t get what they were actually talking about because I was a bit far from them.

And they had to reduce their voices the moment Lydia and I entered.

He had a brown afro hair cut with a brown clear eyes. His nose was nicely pointed with transparent glasses he was putting on.

And he doesn’t look like he was coming for registration into the org-nization, no he doesn’t look in anyway like one.

Probably, he might be here for business. Wait, is that why I’m being called?

Definitely not, either.

After they had finished discussing, they had a handshake before he left the office.

” Mrs Johnson, you called me. ” I said, standing at attention.

” Yes, Miss Agent.” She looked at Lydia, ” Can you get the girls ready for practice? I’m kinda busy right now and I won’t be able to help out. ”

” Yes ma’am. ” She left.

” Please have a seat. ” She ushered me to sit on one of the chairs across hers. ” You saw the man who just left my office few minutes ago, right? ”

” Yes, ma’am. ”

” He’s from the Ford Motor Company and they work with us, you know, especially when we needed a new car for the hunt. ”

” I understand, ma’am. ”

” I’ve heard a lot about your family, they’re the most famous hunters in San Diego. And I’m really sorry not to have noticed who you are the very day you walked in. I know you still aren’t familiar with Chicago but I want you to do me this favour, you’re the only one I can trust for this. ”

” Anything ma’am. ”

” Someone from the Ford company will be coming here by 8am tomorrow morning to pick you up. You’ll be meeting with the owner of the company, but before then I might have been done with the doc-ments you’re meant to give to him. I would have loved Lydia to do this, but I also heard you’ve learnt a bit of what we teach here so, that’s why I’m choosing you for this. ”

” We need a new brand for the hunt, we’ve heard there are new faster motors that are as fast as the wolves. So, such kind is needed for the org-nization. Can you do that for me? ”

” Yes, ma’am, I can. ” I said, nodding. ” But…” I paused.

” What is it? ”

” Is he aware that I am the one coming? ” I asked.

I wouldn’t want a situation whereby I get humiliated all because I was sent for some kinda business stuffs.

I truly don’t trust company owners, they’re too prideful and arrogant for my liking.

” Yes, that is just what I had discussed with the man. I’m pretty sure he will inform his boss before night. ”

I nodded.

” Emma will get some clothes and shoes for you, all you have to do is to get ready. Get an early sleep, you’ll be in my office before 7am. Understood? ”

” Yes, ma’am. ”

I turned to leave when her voice stopped me. ” And… I’ll prefer if you just call me Mrs Johnson. ”

” I’ll take my correction. ” I exited her office back to my room.

The girls were all at the training room, while I’m sitting my ass on my bed.

I never knew dad was such a talk active and he never did told me he was close to the Chicago under cover agents.

No wonder why he desperately wanted me into the org-nization, because he knew what they are.

Few minutes later, there was a knock on the door. I stood up to check who it was.

From the center h0le on the door, I could see a young lady standing with some clothes in her hands and two new shoes on them.

I opened the door, “You’re Miss Agent, right? ”

” Yes, I am. ” I replied.

” Mrs Johnson said I should give you these. ”

I took the clothes and shoes from her, ” thank you. ” I said. ” Do I have to wear the hills? I’m really not good with them. ”

” You can spend the rest of your day and night walking on them, I pretty sure you’ll master it before tomorrow. ” She shrugged. ” Hills are more preferable when you’ve got an official meeting with a CEO and not flat shoes. Well, gotta go. By the way have a good trip to Ford. ”

” Thanks. ” I shut the door close, hills… I hate hills, and the worst part of it is that it’s not just a medium hill, it’s those kinds when you’re going out on a date.

I did as Emma said, I need to practice on the hills or else I’ll be getting myself humiliated before everyone.

The thousand attempts I made were all failure until I could notice the muscle of my legs paining me.

I dropped the shoes aside, but my eyes didn’t let go. If I’ve got any chance to learn this, it’s now.

Or else if Lina has to return, I might get some little distracted.

” Ashley, you need to learn this. It’s your only chance. ” I said to myself.

I took the shoes from where I dropped it, fixing it on. I stood up, walking gently with it like I was just practicing how to walk for the first time.

I was holding things for support while I walked to the door and back to my bed over and over again.

You really need to see me on this, I look like an hilarious girl on hills.

” Calm down, ” I took a deep breath and out.

I didn’t want to hold anything this time, so I spread my hand wide about to make my first step when the door opened.

” No… ” I twisted my ankle and fell, landing hærd with my butt. Staring at the surprised lady in front, who was fighting the urge to laugh. ” Fine, you caught me. ”

” Ashley, what the heck are you doing with those hills. ” She pointed out.

I shushed her, her voice was too loud to reach Mrs Johnson’s office. ” Sshh, lower your voice. ” She helped me stand to my feet. ” It’s a long story, Lina, but I’ve got to learn how to walk with these. ”

” Oh, now I see why you’re sweating like a chased cat. Look, you don’t walk normally on shoes like this. ”

” I don’t understand, how am I supposed to walk then? ” I asked, confused.

” Like a cat, sweetheart. You’ve seen cats walk right? ”

“Yes? ”

” Then you have to walk like them or else, you’ll keep falling even if you have to train for centuries to come. ”

” Can you show me? ” I took off the shoes giving it to her.

She walked exactly as a cat walks from the door to my bed and back to the door.

” I’ve been killing myself for a long time. But you know, that looks a lot difficult. ”

” Not as difficult as twisting an ankle over and over again. Try it. ” She gave it back to me and I tried my possible best to catwalk with it.

I know I won’t have my early night sleep without learning this.

Oh, I’m doomed for tomorrow …
