CHAPTER FORTY FOUR: VILLAGE FESTIVAL 4
Finally the day of the village festival has arrived, though no preparation occured in the palace, everywhere seem same, quiet and boring ….Lord Mammon on the other hand seem to be more busy, with lord’s of different empire visiting and princess milia plan to return back to her kingdom.
” Milord?”
” Hmmm” Mammon answer, no smile on his face, just empty as he read through his files and stamp on the ones that need stamping.
” You seem hungry milord ”
” Am definitely not ” he mumble calmly, his gaze still on the papers, sitting quietly in his study room I look around then exhale, after Alina incident, Lord Mammon have tried all his best to keep me out of the killing and sight of blood.
Isn’t that a sigh of love, if that’s not love then what is it, am pretty sure he loves me but won’t admit it ” will you be attending the village festival?”
” No ”
” But you promised me you would ”
” Change of mind lily ”
Standing up I move to stand where I can see his face properly and that way, he lift his face and his gaze finally met mine ” promise and fail is a sin”
A smile rise in the corner of his l-ips ” surely you do not think that am scared of going to the so called hell ”
” You should be ”
” Hell is not that bad lily ”
I frown at that ” I heard they is fire in there ”
” Those are lies ” mammon frown ” the only think frightening there is the lack of sun, the darkness but now, it’s not so dark ”
” You speak as if you have been there ”
” Am a sin lily ” he mumble ” that’s my home ”
” Home?”
He said nothing else and I sigh before moving back to the chair, I sat down then watch him work, the way his expression change ad he flip through the pages.
How is he so handsome, he is definitely everything women is wishing for, what else could you ever want, well I do know he is good at hiding his emotions that could be the only horrible and stupid thing in his body.
The door open to reveal baron, who walk in, blood all over his body, their gaze meet and baron nod his head to which made Mammon smile.
No words where exchanged, after the smile, baron left and am still wondering what just happened ” when will you marry me milord ” mumbling whatever comes to my head, I frown and surprisingly he gave me a calm and quick response.
” Soon ”
” Wait ” moving back to where I can see him, I notice him smiling ” you will marry me?”
He relax back on his chair ” do you find it unbelievable”
” Yes milord ”
” And why is that ”
” Because you said you don’t love me ”
” Hmmm”
” Do you love me milord?”
” What is love lily?” His question took me off guard and I blink, watching how entertained he is ” when you love someone, what and what do you do lily”
” You care milord, you wish to see him or her always, you practically will die from pain if something is to happen to the other ”
” Do I seem that way to you lily?” He move his head to his left and watch me carefully” do I do all these things ”

” Do you think I love you?”

” But then, I can just be fooling you, I might just be seeing you as a little sister ”

” Haven’t you heard that blood is thicker and better than water ” he stand to his feet and I look up to catch his gaze ” my silly lily ” he touch my cheek ” I am obsessed with you, love has nothing to do with it ”
My eyes w¡den from that ” is that a good thing?”
” It’s bad lily ” princess milia step in looking normal which is surprising, I expect her to frown ” when he is obsessed with something he thinks they belong to him, their smiles, laugh, m0-ns…” She look at Mammon, my gaze move to him and notice his is still staring at me ” even time of their death belongs to him ”
” What brings you here milia ” mammon ask, his fingers gently touching my lower lip.
” I wish to have a private audience with you before leaving ”
” And when are you planning to leave ”
” Today ”
” Am afraid I can’t fulfill that wish for you ” he lean close then k!$s my forehead ” I have someone to attend to ” he smile and I blush, the air emitting from princess milia became strong with anger, anyone can feel it
” With such display of affection, you put her in danger without realizing it ” princess milia mumble ” your new maid will be the death of her ” her words made me frown ” red is a deadly colour ” I wanted turning and asking but Mammon stop me with his gaze ” what’s her name? Regina she said ”
” You mean red?”
” You appear to have a pet name for her ” milia chuckle ” I can’t wait to see your death lily ” at that I turn around and catch her gaze of certainty ” it will be a nice news ” with that she turn around and left, the atmosphere in the study room already heated.
I thought that Regina already left.
” Are you scared ”
” I disliked her from beginning ” I gr0-n looking at Mammon ” why must she stay here?”
” Who are you speaking about ”
” Regina ”
” Why do you fear her ” Mammon furrow his brows ” you can kill her easily if you wish to ”
” I do not wish to kill ” growling Mammon frown
” You’re just my concubine lily ” he frown ” don’t think you can order me around ”
” And if I can?” I step closer ” what will you do”
” Guts ” he smile” you have those because I care about you ”
” No milord ” I frown ” I know you’re lying because you love me …not obsession but love ” with that I left his study room to the servant quarters to watch Regina watching the dishes, the moment her gaze met mine she bow her head ” milady ”
” Prepare we leave for the festival soon ”
” We?” She lift her head up and I nod
” You will be my escort ” turning around I left not wishing to see more of her, I hate the fact that she is beautiful
My fear of Mammon being attracted to her keeps increasing, no…I don’t want to lose him, I don’t wish to lose him.

Regina could feel the hatred emitting from concubine lily body, as to why she hates me, I still don’t know…could it be that she sense the mate bond I have with Lord Mammon.
But then am told she is just human, that’s what the black clothed man said before pointing my mate to me ” milady?” Mumbling I open the carriage door for her, she didn’t even bother to smile before stepping into the carriage.
Nodding to myself I walk in then sit opposite her before it starts moving, if I was in her situation I will also feel scared and if am guessing correctly, she wants me out of the palace and far away from her love.
The way she stare at Lord Mammon it is sure she loves him.
” Tell me ” her voice brought me back to reality ” tell me why you’re here ” from the look in her eyes, I could see pure hatred, she really hate me.
” Forgive me if my presence anger you milady ”
” That doesn’t answer my question”
” I had no other place to go milady and the moment I saw Lord Mammon I asked for his help ”
” You mean you are poor and an orphan”
” Yes milady” my response however brought smiles to her face.
” What do you think Regina” her eyes turned deadly and I hate to admit this, but fear creep into me ” you don’t move around like someone who doesn’t have pride, you don’t even know how to wash the dishes properly and here you are telling me lies”
” You have no right to ask me questions” I growl back, getting pissed at how she quickly notice my lies ” the only person who has that right is Lord Mammon”
” But then he brought you to serve me ” her words made me remember my agreement with the king and I frown, she definitely knows where to hit ” admit Regina ” she frown ” you love Lord Mammon”
” Not on purpose milady ”
” What do you mean?”
” He is my mate, I couldn’t help the feelings ” I look at her with a smile ” the gods arrange it ” at that moment the carriage stopped, indicating that we have arrived, I look outside the window and stare at the crowds ” milady, we are here” giving her a smile I notice how she looks distant, lost in thoughts” milady?”
” Hmmm” I watch her step off the carriage slowly, her eyes haven’t change its colour, it still has that intent to kill and am scared that they is more to this fragile looking concubine than it meets the eye.
Lord Mammon stare at the bodies lied up in his plantation ” you mean you find forty men dead this morning”
” Yes milord ” baron answered while inspecting them carefully ” they is no marking, feels like their souls left their body ”
” Souls” mumbling I look at the sky ” it happened exactly this time right?”
” No milord, at midnight” baron stand to his feet then stare at me” when everyone is asleep ”
” Most of the men are old ”
” Yes milord ”
” Hmmmm” bending down I stare at them, they lost their souls which could mean only one thing, the spirit of death but then did lily kill them? She was in the bed all night, if she stepped out I would have noticed ” baron ”
” Milord?”
” What’s your suspicion baron ”
” Death milord ” he mumble exactly what I was thinking ” only death spirit take souls off body of their victim and it seem, the time for this men to die has arrived ”
” Death ” placing my hands behind my body I stare at the sky, I have a bad feeling about this….lily going out alone with Regina.
That is not something I expected to happen but then am left wondering if my silly lily will kill her.
It’s something I wish to watch.
” Set my carriage”
” Where to milord?”
” The festival”
Lily place her hands on her chest as she move around the crowd, every single person here looks happy…. The street lights, the magic shows, the music, everything seem great but then I can’t help but to feel like am missing something.
Blood, yes that’s what my mind is saying, blood…I want to see blood, haven’t seen it in days and then Regina blood doesn’t sound that bad.
But she is Lord Mammon mate.
“More reason to kill her ” the voice in my head keep repeating itself and even speaks out now, what’s happening…using my hands to cover my ears I stand still, eyes closed, trying to calm myself.
A soft hand touch my shoulder and I open my eyes to stare at Regina” milady, you look…..”
” Shut it ”
” But”
” I said shut it!!!!!” Am not responsible for my actions anymore, I find myself moving, moving into a dark corner, I want to stop but I can’t…my legs keep walking on its own and then I think my real self pass out in me.
” Milady ” Regina hold my hand, stopping me right on my track ” that place is too dark for you to be in, you might ….”
” Die?” I mumble, I find it really funny how these weak beings think death can die ” have you ever seen death perish?” Regina let go of my hands and I furrow my brows ” a witch? You’re a witch, I have been asleep for seventeen years but due to your talk about mate, it seem to wake me up, earlier than expected. ”
” You confuse me milady ”
” Indeed, you’re a creature of little understanding ”
” I should get you back to the palace” not saying a word, I watch her open her mouth to say something else but I beat her to it, I rather slap her across the face to shut her up, she step back and cough blood.
Yes that’s it, blood, how long have it been that I was acting all naive and childish? It feels like centuries ” milady ”
” Do you wish to live Regina?”
” Yes milady”
” Bring me that little boy” I point to the crowd, the little boy wearing red and licking Ice cream.
” I will like to ask why milady ”
” Punishment” smiling I look at her ” I will like to punish him for lying besides am the deity for humans”
