Another bang on the door, gbum! gbum!! gbum!!! Open this door before I break it down!

Mr Jude who has already known what they came for dressed up. Treasure smiled and get up from the bed, then put on a bomb shot under her night gown. Delight is already at the sitting room before her parents came out

Mr Jude opened the door and they badged in with full force

Good morning sirs

(Delight greeted pretending to be scared, but no response from them, they were three men in uniform looking very mean and serious)

The first man bringing out his ID, I am inspector Segun from the states CID(Crime Investigation Department) Ikrodi divisional headquarters…. I presume you are Mr Jude Eze, you are under arrest, do not utter a word because whatever you said will be used against you in the court of law. Officers arrest him!

(they came close to put the handcuffs on him but Delight stood in front of his father)

Not yet officers, long gone are the days you guys will just badge into someone house and arrest somebody without first stating his crimes, who knows it might be the wrong person.

(Treasure then spoke) yes officers at least you should have waited for the day to break before coming to wake some one up very early this morning, mtcheww! What is his crime self!?

Please Treasure that’s not a way to talk, you are only worsening the situation, Jude cautioned Treasure

Heee! Mr man you are not authorized to talk, what are you still waiting for, arrest him let’s get the hell out of here

No way gentle men, not until you tell me my father’s crime, my father is a good man so I believed that you are in the wrong house.

Hey miss! Get off the way…

No way sir, you ain’t taking my father no where until you give me the answers I needed to hear(she went to the door and locked it)

Mum you ain’t saying anything to support me, dad you ain’t saying anything to defend yourself!

What do you want me to say Delight, your so called father ain’t doing anything to defend himself huuu!!

(Inspector Segun angrily said)

Now little girl, you can see that your parents have nothing to defend about themselves, so will you step out of our way so that we will carry out our duty.

With all due respect sir, I am not a little girl, I am 15years of age and capable of getting married and giving birth, my parents are not saying anything to defend themselves does not mean that I don’t have a right to know what’s going on, I can’t be kept in the dark for crying out loud, I know my right so I demand to know my father’s crime and I promise to step outside once he agrees to it..

(the inspector now really loved Delights boldness and outburst, he came closer to her and place his hand on her shoulder but Delight removed his hands from her shoulder)

Very impressive my little girl, well my girl I will tell you your father’s crime

Your father embezzled a very huge sum of money from his company and now it has come to the notification of the company that he is the one responsible for the embezzlement……….Now are you satisfied my little girl?

(Delight laughed out very loud, with tears in her eyes)

She went close to her father, dad did you hear what they just accused you of now, just tell me that is a lie, I know you very well, you can’t kill a fly, you can’t kill an ant, dad you are a gentle man and you promised me that you won’t steal from your company, dad say something, please mum, did you believe that your husband can do such a thing they just accused him of?

(Treasure holding her daughter) As you can see darling, your dad is not saying anything and that practically means that he deed what he was accused of, but don’t worry we will bail him out very soon

Nooo oooo oooo! She cried out in pains…. Dad why, you promised me, you made me believe that you loved me, I trusted you but why, she went to her mother and held her…. You are the course of all this, you forced him into this, you wanted to get rich now he has given you all that you wanted but you just loosed a man that you called your husband out of greediness…. Please officers, arrest her too she is also involved, she’s the engine behind the steering.

Shut up you spoilt brat!!! Treasure scolded Delight

No mum I won’t shut up, I hate you, I hate the both of you!!!

Treasure landed a heavy slap on Delight) Shut up you brat, just keep quiet!!

Treasure Jude shouted, don’t ever lay your hands on my daughter ever again!!!

Oh you can even talk eee, thief, please officers take him out of here! Treasure yelled back at Jude

Take her also Delight shouted pointing at her mum

Officers please arrest this man, Inspector segun told the officers

Mr. Whatever you said will be used against you in the court of law!!

Delight my angel of light please forgive daddy, just remember that dad loves you very much my darling.

No you don’t dad, you failed me, you don’t love me!!

the inspector held Delight and encouraged her, everything will be alright brave girl

Will you bring my dad out?

If it is in my power I will my darling…… Just know that everything will be OK

(she wiped her eyes but tears kept coming as she remembers all her mums hatred towards her father and herself)

As soon as the policemen took Mr Jude out of the house, they entered their vehicle and drove off.

Treasure shut the door and went closer to Delight who was still sitting on the floor crying… She was not crying because her father is been accused and charged to prison, she knew every thing was fake but she is just putting on the act to convince her mother to believe that every thing was real.

She was also crying because she is going to miss her father so much, they are very fond of each other and been separated from her father is like separating a sucking child from her mother’s breast

She cried the more as her mother approaches her cat walking and laughing in victory.

As she draws nearer, Delight can’t bear the act her mother was trying to put in order to mock and cause her depression the more, she stood up from her wailing ground and made to leave and go into her room

Hey!! you spoilt daddy’s little brat, you clearly sees that I am coming to you and you have the guts to walk out on me, oh are you trying to dodge me?

(Delight stopped and turned around facing her mother)

Mum, I only stopped not because you addressed me by my name but because I want to correct an impression, Mum please with all due respect ma, my name is Delight and please address me by that name I will be most grateful but next time don’t think of addressing me with any other name and not even a pet name.. I will be in my room.Thank you!

Hahaha!!! Treasure have seen something in this world! “clapping her hands” Will you stop there you imbeçile, what gave you the impetus to open your gutter to tell me on how I should address you huuu!!!

(Delight didn’t stop, she just walked straight to her room, 2 steps before she turns the handle to her room, something hit her, it was her mums slippers)

*Alarmed with anger and hatred for her mum *

Mum why did you hit me with that, that could have injured me if it had hit me in a sensitive part!!!

(Now Treasure is close to her, standing in front of her daughter, she gave her a resounding slap on her cheek)

How dare you raise your voice at me!!

(Delight holding her cheek as tears gush down from her eyes)

Mum you slapped me!!?

And I will slap you yet again if you talks to me anyhow, Oh my gosh!! Jude coward this is your hand work, you raised her so spoilt and ruthless that she dare challenges me and have the effrontery to insult me…… Now listen and listen good young girl, I am your mother and carried you in my stomach for 9 painful and stressful month, gave birth to you in pains and sorrows, do you know what that means…. It wasn’t easy given birth to you so you dare not open those flimsy and premature mouth to talk to me anyhow, wherever I tell you to sit you sit and where ever I tell you to stay you stay, this is my house and you dare not speak when I ask you not to….get that into your thick skull

(She pushes her aside and made to leave)

Oh really mum, because my dad is not here that’s why you wanna treat me like a maid or worst still

Oh yes darling, your coward of a father is gone and gone forever, his rule has passed and this is my turn, so therefore, I command and you obey… Do you hear me!!

(Smiles) Mum you lied, in your dreams, you are only my mother legitimately and in this world but not in heaven and I Delight Eze the daughter of Mr Jude Eze will only accept and recognize you as a mother when you start acting as one but as of now……. Calling you mother is just a title and nothing more……. And yes mother….. This house still remains my father’s house, you have only succeeded in deceiving and pushing him away from me but that’s for the main time, because he is not going to be in prison for ever younno

I know my rights as a legitimate child mother, this house also belongs to me, and if you maltreats and try to intimidate me, I swear I will sue you, and will sure make you pay for all your crimes, I am just 15years not 15days or 15months ,, so I know my right and nobody not even the president of this country can trample on my right….. (As she made to grab Delight, she quickly stepped back and her mother’s leg slips, she staggered and miscalculated a step thereby making her loose balance and she landed on the floor.. Delight laughed and shouted serves you right wicked woman, she ran into her room still laughing at her mother’s fall)

(After some hours, Delight came out from her room and went to the sitting room, she switched on the television and was watching a certain t.v series, just then her mother came in)

Good evening mum

Yes good evening, I thought you will remain in your room forever….. Now go pack some of your stuffs because we are relocating to our new house first thing tomorrow morning

Mum please let’s extend it till next tomorrow so that I will have the chance to properly say goodbye to my friends

Listen and listen good, whatever I said is what’s going to happen and I don’t want to repeat myself a second time

Mum please, just grant me this one chance, I want to say goodbye to my friends

No way, we leave tomorrow and that’s final

(Just then a knock was heard at the door. After some time Treasure went to see who’s at the door before opening it)

Good evening ma’am…..

Yes good evening, (looking at the three men in confusion)

how may I help you gentlemen?

I am inspector Segun from….

My visions are still clear Mr Segun and my memories are very much active, I know you guys were here early this morning to arrest Mr Jude Eze…… So what do you want now?

Well ma’am, we are here to ask you few questions and carry out an investigations about your husband

Ex husband please, because I can’t possibly be the wife of a thief, not any more

But mum, dad became a thief because of you, he stole his company’s money all for your happiness!!(Delight said in anger)

But is just a pity that he is so stupid to believe that you ever have any love for him…… Now just a day gone and he has become your ex husband… Mum you are so greedy and mean!!

Delight, you don’t really know whom you are talking to, I will so deal with you that you will ask God if I truly gave birth to you… Don’t worry just say whatever you want for now very soon you won’t speak anymore

I hate you so much mum… Please officers arrest this woman!

Please, please and please ladies,This is not the reason we came here, after doing what we came for you both can continue with your fight.(One of the officers said)

I want to ask the both of you this question, Did Mr Jude by any chance returned to this house today?

What sought of silly question was that inspector, you came here this morning and took Jude in handcuffs to the station, so why asking us if he return back to this house

Yes inspector, you took my dad and since then we haven’t set our eyes on him, what do you mean if he returns here?

Yes is obvious that we took him to the station and he was locked up there too but news getting to us this evening was that he escaped from prison an hour ago so..

What! How on earth did that happened, so you are here to tell me that Jude is no longer under your custody?

I think that’s a good news officers but with whose help and support did he escape? Delight asked excitedly

(Delight said with her tune indicating happiness)

This the question we can’t answer right now miss Delight…….. So to be certain that he didn’t return to this place, we are going to search the whole house right now

OK no problem officers you can go on with the search…

Delight tapped her mum…. Please officers you guys should hold on for a minute I wanna speak with my mum.

Mum, why are you telling them to search the house, what of if dad truly escaped and came back home hiding some where in the house without us knowing, that means they are gonna find him again and take him to prison……. You know what that means mum

Oh keep quiet for once when adults are talking. Your father have to face the law because what he deed was unlawful, and besides what use is he to us!

But mum you are so unfair!!

Thank you darling (she touch Delight on her cheek but she removed her hand from her face).

Please officers, you can go ahead with the search

Now officers, make sure to search the whole house thoroughly, leave no stone unturned did you get that?

Yes sir!!

(After about 20mints of searching, they found nobody and they returned back to the sitting room and told the inspector that they found nothing…. Treasure was disappointed on hearing that because she really wants Jude out of her life by all means)

OK thanks ma’am for your time,we should be on our way now but please don’t hesitate to contact us if you find out your husbands hiding

Sure inspector I will……. Treasure replied, feeling disappointed

I won’t give my dad away if I finds out officers, and don’t bother looking for him because you can’t find him….. My father is too good to be punished for his crime.

***Greediness, selfishness and too much love of money can cause people to do things that are not encouraging at all……….. Now this type of woman called Treasure do you think that if she was giving and opportunity to use her daughter for money rituals she will hesitate?
